  1. Biochem is not getting nerfed. They are removing the 400 profession requirement on all items that has it now (ending the problem the OP has with grenades). In the future, they will not introduce new biochem reusables but the ones in game are going to stay in game, they'll just be scaled out with the introduction of new recipes. Also they have stated that grenade cooldown will be lowered and that cybertech speeders will become BOE. Honestly with the incoming buffs, particularly to synthweaving and armormech, I do not believe that cybertech will be the best crew skill, nor will it need a nerf. Pre-Patch notes for 1.2 I will say that most skills will be relatively even although armstech is still lagging. Overall, the misinformation in this thread is abundant but that is to be expected when discussing not yet released content. In a court of law this thread would be thrown out as hearsay. That said I have not heard of any nerfs to Biochem (or any skill) nor do I think they are needed. Also the premise, "since biochem got nerfed, cybertech should be too" is flawed as neither is the current best or most popular skill in game (the later being artifice). Discussion of the effect the changes (that have been announced) will have, should be allowed but it is pointless to say what should or should not be changed post-1.2 when we don't know everything that has or will be changed up to this point. I will end with this quote:
  2. I just wonder who respecved when she left, and how they did any of the instanced quests with 5 people.
  3. Overall I enjoyed my Consular's storyline 1-50. I may be biased because it was my first character and the only one I've gotten past 20 so far so I didn't have anything to compare it too. Act I gets a little repetitive after 4 planets but I felt it picked back up in Act II. From what I've read on the forums it is a love/hate relationship so the only way to find out is to try it. If you get bored you can always roll another alt for a few levels to give the consular a break.
  4. It is possible to crit augment slots onto wearable gear as of now. As an cybertech I have crit many earpieces. It may be that some top end gear isn't, but it should all be critable. My advice is use a companion that has +crit for the skill you need if you have one. Otherwise you + efficiency and hope for the best. Unless some types of gear are not critable you should get it eventually.
  5. The only toon I'm know I'm rolling with a race not in release is Chiss Smuggler. I feel like as a Chiss defector, Smuggling is the only job one could get in the republic. I am currently working on getting that Bounty Hunter to 50 so I don't break the bank to play my Chiss Smuggler. Other non-standard race/class combos I may choose are Mirialan IA and a Miraluka Trooper. Given I have to level the normal class to 50 first this could change but it adds an interesting dynamic. Personally I'll explain to myself any choice I make with lore although maybe others won't. One thing I can't see is playing a Sith on the Republic side but save that I could justify almost anything.
  6. My Twilek Consular main was found by a Jedi Knight (not yet created) in a raid on an Imperial slave compound on Nar Shadaa. The Jedi was unable to free him at the time but discovered he had force sensitivity and alerted the Council. Lacking the resources to save an untested and potentially incapable Twilek, the Council refused to participate in the rescue. Resolving to do it himself Lemain (Jedi Knight) took it upon himself to save the poor Twilek Quegaran. On his return to Nar Shadaa, Lemain discovered Quegaran had been moved to another planet. Forced to return to the council, Lemain sat down in the Nar Shadaa cantina to rest before the return trip to Tython. Generally courteous, Lemain struck up a conversation with a Chiss sitting in the corner of the room. Amid stares of distrust and hate Lemain learned the Chiss, L'unica had been exiled by the ascendancy and disliked the Empire. Seeking a new life in the Republic, L'unica was willing to take any job regardless of pay. Lemain would notgive up on Quegaran so he offered L'unica a starship to find Quegaran and bring him to Tyhon for training. L'unica, being a Chiss was able to infiltrate Dormund Kaas where he found Quegaran. The escape was complicated when L'unica's brother, Pasde showed up to get the Bounty off L'unica's head. Pasde was really just in time to warn L'unica of the bounty and together they fought off three members of the Mandalorian enclave. Tarrow Blood was embarrassed by his loss to this no name bounty hunter and tried to gain his revenge when Pasde tried to enter the great hunt. In the end, L'unica smuggled Quegaran off of Dormuns Kaas in the cargo hold, perpetuating Quegaran's hatred of spice while further exiling himself from both Empire and Ascendancy. After dropping Quegaran off on Tython, L'unica took the only job he could find in the republic: smuggling guns onto Ord Mantell. Exiled by the only two groups to which a Chiss could belong, L'unica was determined to earn his reputation in the republic while sporting a red cowboy hat. Here's my legacy story as of now, trooper, IA, and sith yet to be included, and no L'unica is not in game yet but he will be the day. 1.2 is released. I may have Pasde marry a female trooper and Quegaran's sister might be recruited as a sith inquisitor. I'm not sure how I can fit a Warrior into the legacy although maybe he'll have an affair with the inquisitor. Now I need to bookmark this page to remind myself of the story.
  7. The question is unclear but I think this should answer your question: The heroic moment abilities that are provided by Legacies are ICONIC of a class you have played to a certain point in the story. These are not the same as the Heroic Moments currently in game. (Really those just end a cooldown for the most part and wouldn't help with out the skill they end the cooldown of.) The name Heroic Moment is used to signify the skill's conditions of use (a companion must be summoned and it has a 20 minute cooldown.) So Force Choke will be a heroic moment the same as the ones in game now except it will be an attack and nor a defensive move. This really makes the skill glitter or maybe "Oh ****!". I don't know if all heroic moments will share a cooldown but the utility will be the same for force choke on a Bounty Hunter as the current Heroic Moment is now but without the heals. Hope this helped answer the question. To my understanding it is accurate, take it for what you will.
  8. There is no link. I am guessing that amount or time based on the currrent known update schedule. 1.1.5 os due out Tuesday. Save any emergency patches I expect 1.2 to be the next patch. I would say it will be two weeks from 1.1.5. It could be one it could be three but anyone in that window keeps us in March. Yes Bioware has said it will be March that doesn't mean March 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. Stop calling Bioware out roe it being March when 90% of the month is left and we haven't had a Tuesday maintenance yet. Given the temporary economic changes in 1.1.5 Bioware is on a tight schedule to get 1.2 out so wait just a few more weeks.
  9. To actually answer your question, what Bioware has said about legacys (and the topic comes upbfairly often) is that it is server specific. They have also mentioned that there will be a bulk of new legacy features with game update 1.2 (eta approximately three weeks). Really all this means is you will have to finish Act I with your new toon to create his legacy and it will be served specific. I don't believe legacys will be stretched across all servers because I see many problems with name conflicts and determining who gets to keep his or her name.
  10. From my understanding and hearsay, you should be able to get Dark V. My consular is at 9850 light and 50 Dark so I too may have a problem. What I've been told though is that once you hit 10k on one side or the other any more points you get will begin to eliminate the lower side. So once you hit 10k dark the next 150 points you get (dark side) will cancel out the light side until you have 10k dark and 0 light. If any one has experienced this and could verify it, it would be greatly appreciated.
  11. I haven't hit 400 on slicing but the grayed out only applies to the experience. As with other gathering and mission skills you should get the same rewards for the mission. Since the rewards for slicing are credit boxes, not credits there should be no change in the credits out of the box. I can't advise on the most profitable mission but there should be no problems with any of them. In stead of waiting for an answer just go into the game and run a few missions to test it out. You should still name good cash on lower missions and if you don't the only harm will have been the cash spent trying.
  12. I'm not quitting and here's why: I have never played WoW. I came into this game without having expectations which come from playing an 8 year old game. I was expecting a slightly different playstyle then any of the other games I played (which themselves were all different) and that was what I got. The relatively few problems I've seen do not concern me as I am satisfied to see the biweekly patches which address an average of 10 new issues each. As for my character, I've only just hit 50 with an alt around 20 but I have a pretty amazing guild that is running ops and HMs daily. It will take me a week to get geared to run with them and I am glad about that. They are 3 weeks ahead of me gear wise and if there was an extended end game gear system I wouldn't be as optimistic as catching up. I know I won't be able to take out most of my guild for a while but I'll be able to hold my own in flashpoints and ops. In addition to this, the amount of game content I haven't experienced is still high. Besides the endgame I haven't seen I have 7 more class stories. If I get sick of the Republic side quests I will play an imp or two. I'm looking at switching 2 republic than 2 imps than back to republic so I don't burn out off side quests. By the time I have 8 50's in semi-decent gear there will be more end game content (it will probably take me until patch 1.4 or later to have 8 max level toons) at which point I expect plenty more endgame content plus I'll have any class to run it with. I can see myself sticking around until after the first level cap increase at which point there will be more story (best part od the game) and endgame. Until then I'm sticking around and perhaps after. The problems that exist today will be gone tomorrow and as long as I can avoid the problem du jour I will continue to play. TL,DR: I'm not quitting.
  13. Gunslinger Sharpshooter: Ex-machina Legacy: Deus. Appropriately enough he is a cyborg, now if only there was a way to display my name legacy first.
  14. Oh, even as a light side Sage (opposite of the OP - dark side shadow) I find this one line unbearable. Being heal specc'd I usually run with Qyzen but if Tharan is out he'll say it. I have one thing to say: SHUT UP. I don't know if it's a problem with this line in particular, or just spam of any message. With Qyzen he uses his alien mumbo jumbo and it can easily be ignored, but one word of "Did I mention I'm a pacifist" and I instinctively reach for the Alt+f4 keys. I've found the only solution. Take away Tharan's gun and send him into a pack of mobs. Okay Mr. Pacifist you can die now.
  15. Lvl 40 Jedi Sage (As of today) Lvl 3 Smuggler (Gunslinger maybe?) That's it so far. I think I'm going to ding 50 on sage first but this game makes me want to go crazy on alts. My plan is one of each class (imp and republic) and then do opposite advanced classes on different factions to get all 8 play styles. One day I may have 8 50's. That's going to take a while... Back to the game
  16. The general rule in any mmo is you only need on items which you can equip and which are an improvement. The only time I personally have a problem is when someone needs on gear they can't equip..."for a companion" or not. The rule of thumb I follow, if you don't know ask the party. I will never complain if someone asks if they can roll before they do and get a positive response. I will never surrender on rolls just because I've already won something in the situations you mentioned. I have been in groups on other games where BEFORE the instance (flashpoint) starts, someone declares you can only Win an item by needing x number of times. In this case it is declared up front and is based on the number of items you win. In that case it is best to follow the rules established at the start of the run but I would never stop rolling need if I haven't won the number of items (unless I can't use the items.) TL;DR Unless stated up front a group shouldn't limit the number of needs and if you are ever unsure whether you can need, just ask.
  17. Hey, I like you am a level 21 seer intending on healing as my main purpose. Pretty much everything you said seems similar to what I've noticed. There are a few guides to level 50 specs but none for leveling. Personally kg plan is to try and follow those specs more or less from the beginning. I put some of my first points in the other trees to get the force pool increase but now I'm working straight up the seer tree to get the first Heal over Time (hot) on the third tier. Once I get the HoT I'll finish working on the base tiers for the other skills to help healing. The only one of those I can remember is the willpower. I personally feel that my toolset is lacking without a HoT and think it should be priority two for healers after the increased force pool. Also some of the tier 1 skills are good but I don't like self-healing in tier two. It may be good for soloing but I just let Qyzen tank and heal him/Dps as needed. I too would like to hear some advice of the higher level seers as to how they prioritized their skills at this point in the game and I would appreciate feedback in my plan of go for the HoT/avoid self heal buff will make sense in the long run. Personally I feel that it is not too important to follow any specific order because I don't plan to stay level 21 for a long time and eventually have all the talent points filled but there may be some vital skill that I want right away. Any advice will be gladly appreciated.
