  1. well you did say i wasnt getting 240fps on a 240 hz tv.

I did say that, because that's not computer rendered 240fps.

Some quasy-tv-calculated-voodoo is not rendered 240fps.

If that were the case I could use GPU that does 10fps, and let TV 'render' rest to smooth it out.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way.

  2. Wrong yet again. Last time I'm going to correct you with out charging you for the schooling. When you load a world it loads the whole thing up, now you do have to load up some information from the net such as what other players are doing but all skins and armor and world graphics are loaded when you load the level. Also if you have a slow HD (like a 5800rpm) but an awesome system it is a fact that you will only notice increased loading times and not in game lag because of it.

Indeed. You are wrong. Better ask for money back @school :p

And reason why it works THIS way is not to load every single available texture in memory, which often are not needed.

Btw, you do realize that biggest part of data structure of game are texture files?

  3. Go to EV, KP or EC (any raids) on 16 man and link screenshots during encounters, that's the benchmark I'm looking for. You're standing still in the pictures and there aren't many people around you, so not exactly what I'm looking for, really. It is also odd that you have 77% gpu load on one picture and 7% on the other, one more example how bizarre this game utilizes hardware. I never get over 40% gpu load anywhere.

He has SLI - one GPU is loaded more then other.

Also, if your GPU is at 40% load and you are below FPS max (60FPS on regular LCD screen with vsync on) - then your bottleneck is CPU.

Now I also see people believing that the cure for this game is SSD? Erm, ok. I have OCZ Agility 3 120gb and still the game runs worse than any other game, not to mention the fact that planets load for over a minute (Corellia is just terribad). In fact, I'd say this game doesn't even recognize I have an SSD lol, every other game loads in seconds, why does this game take 2 minutes to load Corellia?

SSD helps loading times. It does not increase FPS (except for small stuttering while loading some game data).

I also have an SSD, and difference with using it vs without is huge.

  4. That's not a fact! The data transfer from the hard drive to the RAM may be a bit slow but once it's in the RAM it's golden. A slow HD can cause the computer startup time to be slow, and can cause the startup of some apps to be slow, but after the start up it would run fine. But I do agree most people don't have a good understanding of how you need a good architecturally designed computer to run harmoniously.

Actually, you are a bit wrong here, at least about HDD speed.

    Imagine logging into Fleet.

During loading textures&data needed for Fleet is loaded.

But then rest of data needs to be loaded - textures for objects (errr... equipment) people who are there within your visible range, so they can be displayed properly.

You now start moving - as new characters come into your range game needs to load data from HDD for those textures if they are not yet loaded. This can cause some stuttering, and faster HDD (like SSD) helps.

  5. @Samvan: Stop crying. Seriously. It's annoying reading your posts. If someone says they have decent performance, you immediately attack them.

If you have SO much unbearable issues, quit playing.

Can SWTOR engine be better optimized? Probably yes. How hard is it? Well, it's not easy.

This is why I told you - that if you actually tried to program anything you'd know. Especially with 3D graphics.

It reminds me when Crysis was released how people cried how unoptimized engine is, how low FPS they got, etc, etc... yet noone bothered to check how many polygons is actually calculated&rendered per frame - and that numbers were actually astonishingly high.

Your perception is that everything MUST run smoothly on your PC. You compare single player games with SWTOR - MMORPG. Amount of objects, needed calculations, etc, etc is hugely different.

Bottom line is - if you don't like it, you can always quit.

For many people it's working good/acceptable good.

I have outdated Nvidia GTX275 graphic card, and I play all maxed out @1080p.

Does FPS dip in some places to 20-ish FPS? It does. Is game still playable - it is.

FYI, people complain also on WoW forums often about performance, yet graphics there is way, way simpler than in SWTOR. But guess what? Again - people complain.

  6. Hi sir.

I bought a car from you but it isn't working properly.

"WELL GO BUILD YOUR OWN CAR IF YOU ARE SO TALENTED".

Do you see how stupid you sound mate? Just leave it.

    Hi, Mister.

    That's wrong comparison.

It's more like 'whaaaaaaaa... I bought XYZ car, but it cannot go 320km/h! And to top it off, it used more than 4l/100km when driving 200km/h!!! Why? Why? Why? whaaaaaaa....'

  7. Yeah Bioware, sup with that? 50 fps with GTX 680 in your directx9 game?

    Good one.

Make your own game, since you are so talented.

And DX versions doesn't make itself all the difference, but how it's utilized, what effects, etc, etc....

Not to mention how complex scenes are.

From your post I can tell you cannot even write 'Hello world!' in C.

  8. How is reduction in radius of DoA fine?!

5meter from 8.... that's HUGE difference, and reasoning behind 'to bring it in line with other BH AoE abilities...'.

    Seriously.. what a bull.

    DoA has big CD.

Now, when leveling my BH, DoA is really useless. It can hit 3, sometimes whole 3 normal mobs, but after 1st hit, they are all knocked back, and then I'm lucky in next hits hit 2 mobs.

    Annoying like hell.

  9. When using Global scale in Interface editor - it resizes chat boxes&text in them too.

However, text sometimes due to that tends to go blurry - sometimes all, sometimes just some parts.

Switching from for example 'Other' back to 'Global' fixes it.. for some time.

This is even worse if using smaller fonts.

Here's also screenie of issue (0.8 global scale and 12 font size - which is IMO still too big, but smaller and text really can go blurry..).

  10. While I hate the bloated blizzard monster pig as much the the next guy, to suggest that swtor has even a fraction of its content is laughable, no matter how you look at it. With 3 years of dev love swtor still couldnt match that behemoth for content...

Current WoW raid content: 1 (one) raid instance - Dragon Soul

    All previous ones are obsolete.

  11. No one can argue the fact that it's much better, the patch has some problems, but the improvement in ability delay is one thing they definately got right. Not quite 100% yet but getting real close.

BTW Bioware the new cooldown effect is horrible....that is all.

    Much better, based on WHAT?

It's 'fancy' looking - yes, but it's horrible. I cannot predict which ability to use as all are grayed out, unless I *wait* for GCD to go off and see which ability I can use - especially ones dependent on procs.
