    WORLD PvP!

So, I've played SWToR for a year and just had the best pvp experience to date. Becuase of my work schedule, raiding is impossible and so I mainly PvP. This game is woefully lacking in world PvP. (Suggestion put in a planet like....Illum!) That said, I just spent 2 hours or more on Tatooine in a push pull tug of war between about 6-10 Imperials and Republic players. Keep in mind this is some 12-20 'actors' when you consider we were all running two man groups to utilize pets. Completely random. Completely impromptu and great fun. The above fight happened when some Pubs started in on some Imp lowbies. That escalated to fighting the republic in Imp territory, then a few of Imps breaking off to go shred a republic spawn point to draw the Pubs back. Who won the fight? EVERYONE who participated. What was the reward? Nothing in game currency. But, we had fun playing. -->BW, Pro Tip: some of us who like to play the game and like to PvP, just like to play the game and PvP...however a reward bonus for world pvp actions (oh wait! there was a currency token for that!!) would be nice. It's a dangerous galaxy out there. We're getting an expansion in 3 months or so. Please, do not let EA push a release of a Beta product (see SWToR launch for reference). And PLEASE, put in world pvp....it's why some of us roll on PvP servers. To....PvP. As a side note, I thoroughly enjoy the story aspect of the game. Also, this is the first post I've made in these forums, motivated by this great random PvP experience.
  2. Off topic, but I'll give my two-cents worth on addons/mods/macros which I believe are thoroughly overused and a gimp way to crutch the Devs when certain functionality should genuinely be implemented to 'improve' game play. Example: A good addon migh save a set of gear for you to PvP in and save another setup to PvE in. A frivolous one might automatically target someone who needs a debuff dispelled so all I have to do is watch TV and press one button robotically. In WoW, while I was playing a ret paladin in the Lich King xpac, I had a friend try to talk me into using the 'one button' macro. Which was, sadly, completely viable in a PvE situation. I refused, becuase if I'm not actually DOING anything, why bother playing the game? Having addons to present more info, or make the UI more usefull or flavorfull, sure. Having addons that do the actual work for me? Pass. The argument is sort of like velcro or laces? Those of us who can tie our shoes prefer to do so. (even if we realize that once the laces are tied we can still slip them on and off easily)
  3. I've raid healed, PvP 40 man healed, and healed smaller BG and arena in wow (been playing also since '04 vanilla) and never understood the need for a Grid/Clique or mousover target mod other than laziness. Ya, I even manually dispell. Still waiting for my digital d/l to complete, but I'm looking forward to trying it out to see if healing is as bad as people are saying or if it's just the lazy players having their training wheels yanked off and having trouble with all the scrapes and bruises.
  4. So, I've played wow for 5 years or so first as pve, then a mix and now exclusively pvp (and cheap ganking of lesser geared players mostly). This game had so many BAD reviews/comments on the PvP aspect that I decided I had to try it out. With that disclaimer said, I've been reading forums waiting on my digital d/l and this topic really seems to boil down to this: IF YOU DON'T LIKE PVP (and the associated butt-whipping while you L2P and gear up) START ON A PVE SERVER. Even if you are fighting in whatever goes for battlegrounds, if you are a PvE'er you're doing it as a distraction on a non raid day or when you don't have a flashpoint group going. And if you're not raiding/PvE'ing, you could go outside and play 'RL' for a bit. If you get whipped on a pvp server you had it comming, because you're on a PvP server. And chances are someone like me was just whipping whoever killed you and now he's mad. There is always a bigger fish. Also, quit focusing on gear and have fun operating your character in the game. I never understand why MMO players hate the game they play, but log in anyway to GET THAT GEAR! Furthermore on the topic, I would anticipate the 10% damage mitigation to actually GROW becuase 10% is a pretty minor reduction, but this will depend on what the devs see as far as pve progression and dps/healing scaling. Since the game is so new this looks like a 'tester' of this pvp stat.
