Yes, sage dps is still viable. There was never a time where it wasn't.

If you're actually going to do this, then understand class limitations. I'm a DPS sage with 5 pieces of dread guard, and I've got almost full 63 rating mods and enhancements, and I can barely scrape 1600+ on a dummy due to them resisting the kind of damage I do for some reason. In raids with some of the best sentinels and gunslingers around, I'm always #1-3 on our meters because I know how to play my class. Just be cautious. Numbers aren't everything.

People's situational awareness is a much stronger show of degree of competency than pure numbers. The only time I've seen dps be an issue in HM TFB is on the final boss, and that was simply a matter of execution of the mechanics than anyone slacking. Something to think about.

All of the healing sages in my guild have gotten rid of their alacrity, finding going pure power more beneficial when healing tanks with large (27k+) HP pools, but it could just be a matter of preference.

Start communicating more proficiently and people might take you more seriously. I don't care if you're in full Dread Guard, if you can't properly demonstrate your thoughts over a text medium I'm not going to believe in your ability to do anything meaningful.

Guard always makes the person who is guarded produce less threat, regardless of distance to the target or from the tank.

All of your augments should be willpower, period. As a healer you want to go pure power, alacrity is meaningless to you. All of the other stats will come from just your gear.

No. Range doesn't matter at all. The notion of it is pretty absurd, if that were true no one would ever play melee classes.
