  1. Just a quick question: has anybody else experienced crashes in The Black Talon flashpoint? Happened a couple times to me while using the lifts to get to other areas. I did run a repair on the game files, but I haven't run the FP again. Was just wondering if anyone else had this happen recently.
  2. I was told that that's simply because of the engine -- been a problem since day one. Guess it's just something you get used to.
  3. I have an i5-6500. Open world is nice (haven't gotten to Ossus yet -- working on it!), but yeah, areas that load in a lot of players and NPCs cause a lot of stuttering for me. But it's nice to see more confirmation that it isn't my end.
  4. Yes, I shrunk the post because I thought maybe I was saying too much, when I could have just condensed everything into what it is now. Also, to the previous post: anywhere that loads in many things as you move, such as the Fleet. It was the same on Korriban, oddly enough, but then... there were actually a lot of people around. All else fails, I learned of the magic of instance-hopping. Temp fix to frame drops, but I'll take whatever.
  5. I waited 3 days for a copy/paste robot answer that gave me info that I already acted on.
  6. TL;DR: Back from 2-year hiatus. Played a little, saw performance kinda improved, but a ton of FPS drops in congested areas. Saw in earlier patch notes that performance optimizations were made, but... it feels about the same as it did 2 years ago, so what exactly was done?
  7. Ah, I see. Huh. I think I read somewhere that they were planning to address the UI in KotFE? Also, yeah, as a rule of thumb, I ALWAYS turn shadows either off (if it's an option) or the lowest possible setting. Thanks for your reply, though! EDIT: I checked the actual customer service area (duhr, should have done that to begin with). Apparently, it has something to do with the recent optimizations. The new method of rendering has seemingly impacted the performance on just about EVERYONE'S setups. Weird. Plus, yeah, I guess the UI could use a good touching-up. Maybe I'm not losing my mind, 'cause I swear that, before I took a hiatus a year ago, the game played smoothly. Only thing that's changed about my rig is the operating system. *headscratch*
  8. Hi! I know there was an optimization patch in the last month, but it seems that, despite whatever graphic settings I use, I get lots of stutter in the Fleet or crowded places in general. Open world is fine most of the time. My specs: AMD FX-8150 3.6GHz AMD HD 7870 2GB 8 GB Corsair Vengeance RAM Windows 10 64-bit I have tried many solutions I've found on Reddit -- clean install of Win10, clean install of SWTOR, adjustment of graphic settings in both Catalyst Control Center and in-game settings, getting the DX9c libraries. The only avenues I haven't gone down are putting the game on an SSD (and I don't honestly have the money for it right now, but I would want to be absolutely certain that an SSD would do the trick in crowded areas) and SWTOR Unleashed, which I understand has been cited as a violation of TOS (did I hear wrong?) As far as I am aware, my specs more than meet the requirements, so I'm not entirely sure why the game would go into a stutter-fest in the Fleet/crowded areas -- it doesn't matter what settings I have it on. My disk is defragmented, there is nothing corrupted in the SWTOR installation -- I just don't understand the issue. Sent an email to support, but not sure exactly if they'd be of any assistance (I'm a temp subscriber through RAF). I'm hoping the jump to KotFE has more improvements, but I'm skeptical. Really like this game, would definitely like to sub to it again, but I fear for performance issues. Does anybody have similar issues or have any ideas as to what could be causing so many problems in crowded areas? It would vastly appreciated if you left some insight on the matters. Thank you for your time!
