  1. Skadge. Definitely Skadge.

Yep he is useless, I even geared him up in verpine gear just to see if it was because he was under-geared and he is still useless. The only thing I use him for is a gatherer for running scavenging crew missions and even then he is not exactly the best for that.

  2. Lore wise this would make a degree of sense for the tech based characters , Mandalorians (bounty hunters) come from a warrior culture and they are in essence professional soldiers and having them learn to use trooper weapons would not be a major hurdle in terms of the star wars universe canon, and troopers are also professional soldiers so it would make sense for them to be able to use a wide variety of weapons so it would make sense for them to use the weapons of a bounty hunter. it would make sense for Imperial agents to have access to all kinds of weapons since they are a branch of the imperial armed forces although they would probably be restricted to lighter weapons and smugglers are opportunists and individualists so they would probably use whatever weapon was readily available but heavy weapons like assault cannons would probably be a little to hard to come by for them to use.

As for mechanics all I would do to implement this is to reuse the coding for the various weapons if they are on their counterpart class (troopers would use merc animations if they used dual pistols and vice versa) and reuse the animations for the counterpart moves so for example a merc using an assault cannon would get their death from above replaced with a mortar strike. In essence if you chose to use the weapons of your counterpart class you would in essence become that class.

  3. Now, I'm a pretty good tank. I wouldn't say Primadonna... Elitist a** hole maybe... Well OK... Sometimes.

But I operate within reason. I generally don't blame DPS for crap (definitely not the healers). If it's accidental.... Got it. No harm no foul. I can handle the results. If I'm heading in to pull and a saber goes flying by my head.... Yeah, no big deal. Its not like he's gonna be able to hold threat against me, and the run was probably moving pretty quick so his little DPS E-peen was all happy.... Whatever.

Now if he's just being stupid and dive bombing whole packs while people are healing / typing / gathering, etc.....then I'm gonna ride it out... Pop my CD's.... Be the last one standing... Force Cloak..... Rez everyone but the moron....then tell the healer, " please do not rez him, idiots get the privilege of running back". Elitist a**hole comments ensue.... Followed by /nerdrage, /ragequit..... We three man the rest.... Everyone else has a great time. Life moves on.

Do tanks get a superiority complex? Yes they do. It's because about 75-80% of the responsibility for a successful run falls on the tank. The overwhelming mass majority of complaints I see from groups where they blame the heals or DPS, they SHOULD be blaming the tank . In my opinion it is NOT cliche to blame the tank for a bad run. It's usually well deserved. And believe me.... There are WAY too many fail tanks out there.

When I encounter a fail tank in random queues I simply whisper the other people in the party and let them know I have a tank and I am happy to switch over and tank if they drop group and reform, And almost all of the time when we lose the dead weight of a fail tank and I tank the run goes as smooth as butter.

The good DPS usually have the ultimate comeback to a primadonna tank saying "I would like to see you do a better job then.". The good DPS are good because they have learned all the roles and they can quite happily tank , heal or DPS through anything knowing exactly what the tank and healers will be (or should be) doing at any given point in a fight because they have already done the fight in every role.

And by extension good healers and tanks will also have toons in the other roles so that they know where they need to be in relation to the other members of the team.

And tanks are not the automatic leaders of groups by the sole virtue of being a tank. The natural leader of a team is the most experienced member of the team , it is only a coincidence that tanks get more pops in flashpoints (when they can be bothered to run more than the 3 a week that they need for the weekly) and thus have more experience in flashpoints.

  4. PVP gear is easy to get. Stop QQing.

PVE you generally have to farm operations to get the best gear (which u can only do once a week for each op and rolls/ your guilds DKP come into play here) which is more difficult then backpeddling your way through a few wzs to get coms that have no cap. There would be no real incentive to do an op more then once if it wasnt for gearing.

That alone is enough reason for the seperation. Get over it.

Also you want people to do pvp because they want to do pvp, not because they want to gear up for pve...

There is many reasons for it.. but people just can't get over it...

I do pve raiding and PVP btw.

The constant stream of abuse from the so called 'elite' PvPers for not wearing the top tier you do not own is enough to put a lot of people off, PvP is now an elitist club where the chosen few get to dominate.

  5. You keep repeating "competition" while there is little to none in SWTOR. And even if PvP in SWTOR was competitive your posts show little understanding of the concept. Lets looks at football, the most popular game in the world and lets compare it to SWTOR.

    In football:

    - Everyone has same gear .. SWTOR fail

    - Organized teams compete against each other .. SWTOR fail

    - Teams of similar skill/age level compete against each other ... SWTOR fail

    - There are tournaments and leagues ... SWTOR fail

    - There is such a thing as fair play ... SWTOR fail

    - When Rudi Voeller spit on Frank Rijjkard or when Zinedine Zidane gave headbutt to Marco Materazzi who provoked him verbally they became examples of shame not glory .. SWTOR ?

I could probably go on, but .. so from where I sit someone is out of touch with reality with regards to "competition".

PvP here is joke, its not thriving its dying or keeping afloat at best, and I fail to understand how can someone advocate destructive mechanisms/behaviours instead of community building ones.

Community building for PvPers? is that like where they cycle through toons cussing you out with every swearword they know and change characters to continue their temper tantrum when you put them on your ignore list?

  6. Wouldn't a better method be for the DPS who complain of slow queue times to roll a tank and learn to tank and even become better DPS in the process?

I did , I rolled a juggernaut, an assassin , a powertech and a guardian to learn tanking from a variety of perspectives , I also have a sorcerer healer and a operative healer , It is largely because of doing this that I became so aware of the large difference in the queue times, and it doesn't help me gear up as a DPS , the way it stands now my mercenary was geared from running S&V & TFB SM and my sniper is getting her gear from stuff I buy off the GTN or shuttle over to her on legacy gear from the excess of elite and ultimate comms my other characters earn.

I made this topic because it occurred to me that a new player who only has a single character that is a DPS faces an uphill battle to get geared up and learn how to play their class in a group environment (which is vastly different to the style of play used for soloing).

  7. The situation with the class imbalance in FP queues has hit ridiculous proportions for DPS with 2 hour waits being the norm (16 hours without a pop was my record) and about 10-20 minutes for a healer. While tanks get an instant pop. (I gathered this info myself since I have a DPS, a healer and a tank character)

Something needs to be done to attract DPS or healer players to want to play a tank like adding more damage dealing capacity to tanks would be a good start to attract a DPS player to want to play a tank, or make the role of tank optional with some new 55 HMs so that DPS players can get their weekly done in a time-frame comparable to tanks.

What has prompted this is that I have noticed that several tanks are now charging 100k per DPS in a group for the 'privilege' of 'allowing' them to get their elite commendations. They usually do this by either forming their group in general fleet chat, or using the group finder then DEMANDING 100k off each DPS before they begin.

  8. I have the same problem, the text is unreadable, which makes the game unplayable.

Edit - Did a repair install and it seems to be working ... for now.

Edit - Character switching seems to trigger the bug, I started out fine but as I cycled through my characters to apply my excess rep items for the event last week it started again.

  9. I play all the classes (yes I have no life, lets get that out of the way early so we can focus on the issue at hand) and I visit all the class forums and lurk quite a bit and I have noticed some common threads that are the same no matter which forum I am looking at .

1: The class in question will always have a couple of members that will be trying to metagame the devs into nerfing every other class except theirs.

2: These people will also cry loud and long about how underpowered their class is and demand that the devs buff their class significantly. Often using the threat of unsubscribing in some form (solo (they will unsubscribe) or mass (every member of X class will unsubscribe) ) to try and force the issue.

And this phenomena makes it very difficult to actually work out which concerns are genuine and which are just metagaming to gain an advantage in the game.

So I suggest that the way to avoid being seen as a metagamer is to provide detailed data in the form of parse data, fraps videos and screenshots that prove your claims are genuine.

(Also if you think X class is OP and you are class Y then roll up a character in class X and nine times out of ten you will see first hand that this is not the case, and with the other one time out of ten when you are right you 'win' because you have a character in the OP class now.)

  10. sure there are some planets that have less you can go to.. but what if you wish to visit them all? take hutta for instance there you got like 10 guys at each shady spawn point hoping to be the first to tag it.. that's just bad design.. why not atleast give the starter planets more instances during events like these? or atleast have more of the npc's and spread out at a larger area.

The event as it stands now is a bad joke.

Too many people competing for a scarce resource , and taking hours to do a quest that should be done in minutes.

  11. The problem with the event is that there are too few NPCs to question and too many farmers camping them so that they can sell the completed contracts.

    This could be easily fixed;

1 : fix the NPCs and make them click able for everyone , (hostile reaction = hostile mobs spawn but original NPC stays in place for everyone else).

2: Make the contracts bind to legacy to halt the "secondary market" .

  12. I have a friend who back-filled into a winning warzone that was 10 seconds from completion, he still talks about it.

Seriously the majority of backfills will be onto a team that is losing owing to the tendency of PvPers to rage quit a losing team and stick with a winning team. So the odds are stacked in favor of you getting a losing match if you back fill.

Personally I would correct this by making the deserter penalty more severe to discourage people quitting because they are not on a team that is going to give them an easy win.

  13. Join the Czerka team! Please fill out the following application and respond in this thread to be considered for the open positions listed here.

    CZ-198 Application

    1. Please tell us a little about yourself. Why do you want to be a part of the Czerka family?

    2. At Czerka, we pride ourselves on our accomplishments. Please name three of your accomplishments that you are most proud of. (Please do not include family milestones such as marriages or the birth of your children.)

    3. How did you go about achieving the accomplishments above. Would you say you would do "whatever it takes" for success?

    4. Would you say you have a strong moral compass? Do you think this could get in the way of your job, should you be asked to do something...questionable?

    5. You are about to enjoy our wide variety of complimentary cocktails and snacks, when you notice that your esteemed colleague's newest experiment is likely to break out of their confines while you are gone. How would you handle this situation?

1: I am Silestia Verda, I am a professional soldier for hire with experience in numerous theaters of war , the job offer from your company interests me because of the generous remuneration package.

2: I am the champion of the great hunt, the terror of Makeb, and the slayer of Karagga the unyielding. I also have many other accomplishments besides this.

3: For large tasks such as the liquidation of a major threat I assemble a team of other like minded professionals which I work with regularly and we work together as a highly coordinated team, we also train regularly to ensure our skills are unsurpassed.

    4:

I have my morals, but these are not incompatible with my line of work, War is a terrible business and I strive to excel at it and embrace it's terrible nature so that I can deter people from considering it against those I ally myself with.

5: As a security chief I would regularly inspect all containment equipment in the laboratory to ensure that they are working and that they are sufficient to confine the test subject. Repairs and upgrades will be performed as required within the constraints of the budget of my department.

  14. I'm pretty sure they fixed the AOE damage force-flagging thing. If you're getting flagged it's most likely because you are tab or auto-targeting them.

Evidently not, if it is still happening.

  15. I have seen full raid groups of pvp geared 'players' tooling around low level contested planets for hours on end. What chance does a lone , under-geared level 20ish character stand against a full raid group of PvP geared level 55s?
  16. Merc healing is extremely viable for flashpoints and it is how I clear my weekly FP quest in less than an hour. I got sick as hell waiting 8 hours per pop as a DPS, so I respeced and learned how to heal.

But for raids an arsenal spec is far more effective for contributing to the chance of the raid succeeding, the bodyguard spec is ok for healing and can do the job, but I can do a lot more good as a DPS that can throw out some emergency healing and combat reses.

In short you can be an acceptable healer, or an excellent DPS and most raid leaders would prefer you to be excellent rather than just acceptable.
