Having come back to this game after wondering why I ever left in the first place I find myself seeking a lot of answers about all the changes since my hiatus... I'm not finding it very easy to find any answers within all of the absolutist views that pigeonhole people away from having fun and into a mindset of "What is BEST".
I think, probably, the prevailing sentiment that if you play this or that during event X then you will never win, never be picked, fail etc. is discouraging to a lot of people. The fact is no matter what anyone claims is the only way to do something, there is always someone doing the opposite that is going to kick your liver out of your tailpipe and prove otherwise. Like all of the discouraging views on Powertechs yet in the big PVP brawl it was a nerfed worthless pyrotech who was beating everyone down (for the most part and from what I read).
Sure there's metrics to prove something may work better in ANY SPECIFIC situation but the real answer to what is best is ALWAYS what do you like best. Chances are you will play a class that you have more fun with at around 95% but will struggle with something that doesn't resonate with you to the tune of 80% so what is better on paper is not better in reality.
Everything seems to be going by the way of metrics, in games, at work, on the market. Numbers can say anything you want them to. Do what you like to do the best you can and judge on your merits I say. Embrace nihilism, drink beer and forget about what anyone else thinks about it.
