Hi all. So the last few days before and after the 4.0 update I decided to come back to the game as a subscriber. I knew in checking my main character 2 nights ago things were amiss. A level 26 Jedi Sentinel with level 18 gear on Nar Shaddha...all blue and orange gear mind you but still. So I decided to do some artifice crafting after a few Archeology missions to get more Artifact fragments (as I was low from last I played). Did some crafting, it went nowhere.
I found a link to an official SWTOR blog page about crafting at patch 4.0 (not sure when that patch exactly goes live for me as a paid subscriber but I digress [i think it did when SWTOR wanted to do a large scale patch 2 nights ago but again I don't know]) and I found some info based on what was talked about with crafting that left me very confused regarding what I saw and this blog page said I'd see. I want to point out a couple of these quotes from the blog and then explain what I saw:
Quote 1: "All Crafting has been organized into 8 Grades . This is to help clarify the different crafting tiers, allowing crafters the ability to easily determine what crafting materials they need for what items. All existing Items and Missions have been adjusted to fit into these Grades. Here is a detailed breakdown:
Grade 1: Level 10-16: 0-80
Grade 2: Level 16-24: 80-160
Grade 3: Level 24-32: 160-240
Grade 4: Level 32-40: 240-300
Grade 5: Level 40-46: 300-350
Grade 6: Level 46-51: 350-400
Grade 7: Level 51-55: 400-450
Grade 8: Level 55+: 450-500"
My Artifice skill level as of my crafting tonight is at 205. This should qualify me for grade 3 which means by and large from this table I should be crafting items based near or at my level. If this is so, then what reason am I still crafting lightsaber Might Hilt 10 (meant for a level 20 character) as my highest known recipe when my lowest recipe should be level 24 grade 3?
Quote 2: " There are no longer any Premium (green) items to craft. All craftable items now start as Prototype (blue) quality."
This is another anomaly with my account because I looked at my Archived recipes and I saw mostly all green items and a few blue I reversed engineered myself when I was last playing. Now please understand, I looked at the blog for this after my last logged in session earlier tonight thinking what I saw then was normal. Now I know...it certainly isn't. If the blog was correct I should see my green recipes upgraded to blue and my reverse engineered items before as blue be purple.
Quote 3: "The chance to get an improved item from Reverse Engineering has been increased."
I crafted 11 green Might Hilt 10's to get a blue and...it was as bad as Keltner on the mound when the Cleveland Indians opened their season in the original and first Major League: not a single blue out of 11. In the past long before 4.0 when I last played I could do maybe 6 hilts of any kind and...get a blue recipe with out of that 6 any time I did 6.
Finally Quote 4: "In most cases, Crafting times have been greatly reduced. This will enable crafters to craft more items to coincide with the faster leveling."
This isn't a complaint more than it is just an observation, my crafting times were exactly the same as 2 years ago. No change. To what I feel about all this I quote Lars Ulrich from Metallica when he was describing how he felt when the famous riot in Montreal happened after Guns and Roses decided not to play after James Hetfield had a pyrotechnic malfunction: "Total...confusion." The blog where I quoted it here said I'd get the changes mentioned and more and I feel like this didn't happen. Now granted, if the patch truly hasn't gone live then my point is moot and you may ignore and I also humbly apologize but...as of October 23rd at 10:14pm Pacific, if the patch is live on my client then I ask just 2 words which close my point here: what gives? Thanks and until next time I am out!
