Really depends on your own preferences. I'm playing a sith marauder and am loving it right now... imho the story is much better than the jedi knight....like i said it's your own preferences that matter most though;)

Your first re-spec is free, and I think as long as you don't re-spec more than once a week it is always free....though not sure on that.

Have you checked your inventory? I accidentally unequiped mine once, but it was in my inventory. If not, you can buy a new one from a weapons vendor.
