  1. agreed, its much more to the effect of just hitting them with pure force then say lightning. A cool concept within itself, and its concept possibly even a little more bad *** pounding your enemy with raw energy, but definitely doesn't look as cool lol.
  2. Between this and the lack of distinguishing dots on bosses, I feel like more than 1 dps sage/sorc isn't worth it. Which is a shame cause I think it's one of the best sustained pve damage classes right now, if not the best, with all of the internal damage.
  3. agreed. Not asking for a dot timer or any of that nonsense, just a way to distinguish my dot to others, if theres another sage dps in an operation that becomes extremely inconvenient.
  4. Is there a way to distinguish which DoT is yours from another sage when targeting a mob? They look pretty much the same to me, which raises concerns about groups and etc down the road. Hard to know when you need to reapply your dot when there's 2-3 different ones on the target lol.
  5. I believe that is their eventual sole intention as well. However like all MMOs, there has been almost never a time where this was a case. No matter how much you try to balance, usually there's a spec or class inching ahead of others in all fields (dps, ST healing, aoe healing, tank). Much more so for a newly hatched MMO. As for my 'timing' philosophy of tracking a comparable DPS yea, its definitely not a perfect system. It would just give benchmarks. It wouldn't tell us if one spec or another gives a 1-2% boost particularly, but it would show how classes in general stack up to each other, in theory of course. Thanks for everyone's input btw, I appreciate it.
  6. Well, there are ways to do this without a log, its just a pain...one of the more simple but painful ways to do this is to have a champ mob of some sort be tanked in a 2v1 scenario - your tank and the dps toon you are testing and timing the amount of time it takes to get down. Although this doesn't give you hard DPS numbers, by doing this with the same mob/tank a number of times and taking the average time it'll give you a rough idea how each DPS can preform. Not trying to be all talk or anything, I'd do the testing myself If I had the toons leveled up to test . Just curious if anyone had rough ideas.
  7. Currently I'm re rolling from a sentinel, the favoring of ranged is obvious right now in end game PvE and although I prefer sentinel I don't want to wait months before changes are made. Because of this I have been looking into the ranged dps classes and Sage seems the most interesting and something I'd enjoy the most, however I've seen little to no talk about its effectiveness end game FPs and Operations. What is their output like? Can they compete with the standard favorites of gunslingers and commandos for ranged dps? Thanks for your input, all is welcome.
  8. Are sentinels viable dps in end game flashpoints and operations? I know they are viable for their 'bloodlust' ability however i'm not too fond of being the 1 sentinel in the raid as a buff stick. Are melee consistently not being brought in because they're a sheer inconvenience? I'm a very skilled player however if its a giant limitation being a melee-oriented dps it would be in my best interest to reroll. Any opinions are welcome, thanks!
  9. I'm curious how experienced sentinel players are handling end game content right now. Much of my searches for information on dps strategies and etc are focused on leveling, which isn't my focus in the least. So, I have a few questions for those who have dealt with the end game PvE content. How is our damage end game and what have you found is the 'superior' spec? Ive heard a lot of things for combat and watchmen, but sadly the vast majority of it was talking about leveling benefits. Obviously not my concern. How gear dependent are we? I played a fury warrior on wow for many years, and if anyone is familiar with them a big key part is they are heavily gear dependent and scaled the highest with gear for the most part. I found a lot of similarities between WoW's warrior and jedi sentinels style and skill wise, so I wondered if this carried over as well. Yes, I'm a min/maxer. Although I played the story for fun (Which i felt was excellent btw) I plan on wanting to do competitive pve play. The end result is if there is a superior spec I plan on using it. Any other feedback is appreciated, thanks!
