  1. There was a ranged DPS on Firebrand who's never touched the tank platform, shouldn't that be enough? Or do you need a person at each of the tanks not standing at the platform?
  2. So yesterday was my guild's second attempt on this boss, and we've encountered this: almost every time when it was about to use Defensive Systems, it would start dropping lightning pillars on top of people that were standing on the tank platform. And when I say 'about to', I mean before the knockback, before the channeling gauge would appear, sometimes even while the second Double Destruction was still in the middle of it's channeling (!!!). The first time we fought it, it did nothing of this sort. I've looked over some youtube videos, and found both cases of the supposed correct and incorrect pillar dropping. So I'm wondering, is it random, a bug, or is there a mechanic that makes it happen that we managed to avoid the first time we fought it? Our fight: More broken pillars: Not broken pillars: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLPRzt2jPGY
  3. Advice has been given - get to 50. The amount of things you can do with assassin is so huge that I was really depressed when I started playing sniper. In PvP the only thing that can possibly kill me (full champ DPS gear with all the right mods) is a well played operative. Other DPS usually die in 6-7 GCDs, meaty classes don't have enough dps to cut through my self healing and with healers it all depends on how well I time my stuns. The only warzone I don't consistantly get over 250k damage in is Huttball (because obviously unlike the rest of WZs, completing objectives in huttball doesn't mean fighting). The utility of an assassin is amazing: you have 2 spells that give people movement speed debuffs, you have a pull spell, you have 2 stun abilities. And on top of that you have a speed boost every 20 sec that also breaks roots and an ability to vanish during the battle every 3 minutes. With this set you can be a horrible pain in many peoples' asses. Guarding a cannon in alderaan - not a problem. Even if they decide to gang you 3v1, you'll kill 1, cripple the other, vanish and won't let the remaining 2 cap the objective while help is on it's way. Same thing in Voidstar pretty much. Huttball - you can be a ball carrier, sneaking behind the fire to get the ball passed to you, you have taunts and guard to protect othe ball carriers, you have spells to stop people getting to your team's goalline - this is where assassins really shine with all their sick utility. People saying that we're not a DPS class are partially right, just partially. No we can't achieve numbers some other classes can (my highest assassinate is only ~4800). BUT! We live so much longer than other DPS thanks to the dark charge and self healing that the difference might even be in our favor. Just make sure you're using the right gear for PvP and you'll see amazing results. Oh, and as a nice bonus, after getting some PvE gear you can solo absolutely all daily quests!
  4. Shouting in /1 during peak times seems to do well, you can usually get a group in anywhere between 5 and 60 minutes. This only works for HMs though, no one wants to do normals. Also, flashpoints will be dead in 1.2, so you might wanna hurry!
  5. Not crit and surge? I must have been doing something wrong all this time
  6. Lies about any of the current dailies not being soloable. I've been soloing all of them since about 50% columi gear (with the rest being Tionese), with Talos fully equipped in centurion.
  7. As a tankassin, you want to stack defense until ~400, then absorption as much as possible, then shield (comes last because of our class bonus, and then the PvE set gives an additional 5%). It's all in the tanking sticky.
  8. Make ranged damage decrease with distance, with full damage dealt only at melee range. Ranged DPS will still have their ranged utility for fights like Fabricator, but from a pure DPS point of view leaders won't have to tell melee DPS to feck off anymore.
  9. I'm a fresh 50 Tankasin myself, but here's what I have to say: 1) Yes, definitely. I haven't done any hardcore raiding so can't really compare to other tank classes, but based on the few world bosses and HM FPs I am experienced with I can say that sins can tank. The only real trouble are fail pulls where you have to deal with a large number of enemies, having no suitable defense ability, it may be harsh. Our DPS is good enough to hold threat on pretty much anything and our self heals are a great mitigation. 2) I was leveling as a tank spec and I can't say I found it dull or anything like that. Finishing easy fights with 80% HP providing no downtime at all, never having any issues beating bosses. And all that before you get a healer companion at around 42! 3) Not going to comment on this as I am not DPS spec'd. 4) PvP, I'd say, definitely. Being an absolutely 'naked' at 50 (as in having no PvP gear) I do considerably well even against champ+ geared people in battles. And oh, to think of all the ways you can piss the enemy team in Huttball, that just makes me giggle. 5) From what I hear, assassins are hard to play well. I do agree, the amount of keybinds I have to use to unleash the full potential of my class and spec is pretty huge. I've gotten used to it though and it pretty much feels like breathing now. So I guess if you decide to roll an assassin after all and you're having trouble playing it, instead of running to this forum to make another QQ thread you should think of what you're doing wrong and try to correct your mistakes first. 6) That's an easy one - double-bladed lightsaber!
