  1. I am baffled when everyone focuses everything on the ball carrier and ignores everyone around him, especially the guy healing him. Don't get me wrong, you need to focus the carrier but....

Although, when the carrier is on a rafter with a full resolve and both teams are around him and no one else on his team has been touched with CC, it is a great time for an AE knockback as it leaves the carrier where he is but his teammates go flying.

Yeah, a lot of people think focusing is the only way to pressure a group of players, but target switching can be much more effective if used properly.

  2. Infiltration has Force Potency, exit strategy, find weakness, circling shadows off the top of my head. Feels like I am missing something, I need to do a screen grab.

Maybe some use strength stims and others for the minimal gains. Something is better then nothing. I am not sure if they allow multiple stim use.

Stims and Adrenals and Relic Pops. People like to make highlight reels of when they blow their load, b/c beating someone when you unload all your cool downs makes you good.

  3. Heh, no wonder the Dev's can't get Illum right. The vast majority of PvP-ers in this thread (because if we aren't PvP-ers, why would we be reading this), fall neatly into two categories:

1:- "I only want to PvP when it suits me, despite rolling on a PvP server", or

2:- "I chose a PvP server because I want to be able to be a complete dick to anyone I choose, at any time, without showing the slightest shred of anything resembling social competence or any understanding of how my actions affect other people".

For goodness sake, with the tiny, tiny number of people in this thread who actually advocate genuine "PvP for fun" as opposed to "Griefing for fun", it's no wonder that Illum is a kill-trading, faction imbalanced zerg-fest.

In this case, and most like it, the developers don't ruin PvP. The current mentality of PvP-ers does that all on it's own.

There is no such thing as griefing on a PvP server. If you selected a PvP server, you accepted the fact you would be fighting for control of world quest and content zones.

If that faction rivalry is not for you, roll on a PvE server. That's why the two different types exist. Kthxbai.

  4. If you selected a server with the tag 'PvP' next to it, you deserve no sympathy when you get killed during questing, boss encounters, etc. That is why there are PvP and PvE servers. If you don't want to butt heads with the opposing faction, join a PvE server.

I am in fact pissed at how many places players are denied access to PvP in or require PvP flags. World PvP is supposed to be about fighting for control of content. It makes the faction rivalry actually matter as opposed to just the group of people you play warzones against.

  5. One dedicated forum for whining would clean this up a lot. Just throw all of the trash threads in there, problem solved.

The 'whining' sometimes leads to useful discussion but since there are 9 useless threads for every 1 good one, it would be nice if all threads of this type were separated from normal discussion.

  6. I think you can do better than those categories ;)

    Warzones

    Open PvP

    Class Balance/Mechanics

    Whines

man if we could get people to post all their complaints in a rant forum, where i would never have to see it, it would be great.

Yeah my example is just an example. The proposed solution is simply to organize the discussion types into separate forums.

  7. I think that's the purpose of a forum, no?

One of its many purposes. This proposal is about seperating them out.

The class forums are for talking about classes, but they are seperated out so people can find what they are looking for.

  8. The Problem:

These forums have rapidly degraded into a hub for people to vent their frustrations about the game and other classes they are having difficulty with. While this can be useful feedback for the devs, some players would prefer to avoid these kinds of threads and find useful information for them or propose solutions rather than shout about problems.

    The Solution:

Create sub-forums just like in the class forums for the different kinds of threads in the PvP forum.

    Example:

PvP Balance and Mechanics Feedback -

A place where people can put their frustrations in how they think the game is flawed and make their case as to why.

    PvP Suggestions -

A constructive forum for suggesting solutions to some of vented problems above.

    PvP Help/Q&A -

A place where players can ask and answer questions that others may have about what pvp is like on what server. Find suggestive advice on strategies for how to win at WZ X or beat class Y. Post guides, etc.

    Conclusion:

This organization would both help the devs organize what they consider truely problems with the game and then find player suggested solutions as well as helping players find the things they truely want to talk about.

  9. Actually, interrupt is kinda if not completely useless in this game. People don't even bother fake casting. If I interrupt your heal you'll just cast another one (well, you should).

    ^ So true.

  10. My server's 50 repub population is pretty low. So you consistently see pre-mades of champs/BMs who play together all the time and are very efficient VERSUS a random assortment of Imperial players. Usually the random assortment has fresh 50s and people who don't know/communicate with each other.

Sometimes the Imps are lucky enough to get a lot of our good players in the same match against the pre-made, and than it becomes a different affair.

And lastly, when the pre-mades are not rolling around, Imps play huttball or rep leftovers that we romp.

  11. They are overpowered in PVP, as well as being the best tank class in PVP(absurd) with their avoidance, and highest consistent damage dealers, they can stealth and have the best CCs. Shadows/*** are unbeatable in 1 on 1 duels as well, they can out tank a fully speced tanking guardian and still out dps them by a factor of 2 in PVP. This is a universal complain among most pvp veterans. It's about time that the class system gets a huge re-balancing. Guardians/Jugs are underpowered and not filling the role they are supposed to - as tanks, and anything other than pure focus/rage build is useless in PVP atm, shadow/*** are disgustingly overpowered and need a big nerf, it is inevitable, the sooner it comes the better, this imbalance have gone on for far too long.

Somehow the assassin/shadows you play are both tankasins and deception at the same time. I wish I had 82 skill points to spend.

  12. If a healer consistently loses quickly in a 1on1 against a DPS, there would literally be no reason to ever play a healer. You'd always be better off replacing the healer with a DPS since a DPS can always beat a healer quickly.

Even against very good healers, if they do beat me 1on1 it usually takes them several minutes to pull it off. They can also lose after a long fight too (Sorcerer more likely to lose through attrition).

Since interrupts have nothing to do with skill or gear (gear/skill cannot prevent interrupts from happening to you)), even a tie is sometimes a loss for the healer. If my side put our worst DPS who is at least good enough to know what heals to interrupt against your best healer, he can neutralize the enemy's best healer for a pretty long time and we'd certainly have an advantage everywhere else if our worst DPS canceled out their best healer.

The goal of PvP balance is to always want the better PLAYER.

    Not healer/dps/class/spec.

  13. Your examples assume that the healer can:

    • heal themselves effectively while being DPSed (they cannot)
    • heal themselves at all while being interrupted (they cannot)
    • DPS effectively while managing to heal themselves effectively (they cannot)

Not to mention that the situation assumes 1v1, greatly impacting the healer's chances of competing, and also assuming non-standard pvp gameplay in a team game.

Healing in pvp is already far more difficult than in most games.

Hes not trying to say the healer can or cant overcome the dps via cc and tactical choices by both players. So he is not assuming anything.

He is delivering a concept on the fundamental mechanics of healing by measuring potential resources.

  14. I don't really care for the L2Play responses, but you must have terrible gear, or no idea how to play if you're complaining about healing in this game.

Healers suffer a 30% reduction to their heals for just BEING in pvp. Healers Heals, also do not scale with damage... Example. Primary stats + Power give MORE damage, than they do healing, and the abilities themselves do not heal for as much as the damage abilities do damage.

You explain an example for how the DPS does 14k damage to the healer, and then healer stuns you, heals for 2k, 3, and a couple of 1k.... You were out of the stun at the 2nd heal, so what where you doing? Also, the heal is not hurting you while he's healing himself.... So, you should still win without a problem.

The only way you should be dying to a healer is because they aren't actually a healer, but are a DPS specced person that has a heal, or potion, or you are fighting a healer while a DPS friend is killing you.

Trust me... even bad dps beats a healer 1v1... Healing only stalls for time, but will never kill you. If the healer could kill you while healing themself, it's a massive gear difference or a terrible playing... either way, a change to healing would have lead to the same result.

A healer in the hands of a truely good player cannot be killed 1v1 by anything except maybe ops/scoundrels for their sheer burst.

I am not saying all those can't do this are bad, im sure above average players can still lose the fight against a good pvp, but on a field of equal skill, the healer has the advantage.

  15. im goign to randomly pick things out this bad is complaining about

so we shouldnt have static barrier.. or at least to way to make it 20% more powerful? HOLY GOD 20%

i guess the class with the lowest hP and lowest dmg mitigation should not have a bubble huh?

    who should?

Point to me a class whose primary weakness is completely compensated by a low cd buff they can keep up pretty much 100% of the time.
