  1. It's better to go mostly netural with a slight lean towards one side such as light 1 or dark 1. Here are my experiences: Jedi knight feels very anakinish. Not in full control of emotions though wants to do the right thing, protect people, defeat enemies of the jedi/republic. Quick to enter a fight, forms emotional attachments with companions but overall a good guy. That is light 1 while dark 1 would be killing imperials/sith despite there being other options and agreeing with republic military ideas when it comes to war and weapons as opposed to the jedi council's position. Playing full dark doesn't sit well with me since no one ever calls you out on it until the end and even then they should have outright kicked you out of the order. Sith Warrior- Honorable, pro empire over sith power. Not a mindless brute who kills everything and anything. If played like a light 1 the sith warrior takes advantage of defeated foes by turning them into assets as opposed to body bags and rewards helpful allies. Not a complete slave to your master. Dark 1 can play more like an honor-bound samurai, still have a code and pro empire but anyone who disobeys you or your master get taken care of. Smuggler- Playing darkside or lightside full really works. Lightside is a wandering hero cowboy and darkside is a greedy deceitful criminal. Playing a smuggler who wants to make lots of credits and understands the republic's cause even if not fully patriotic i've found the most fun to play it which combines dark and light.
  2. The thing about class stories is how good they are is opinion based. While consular and trooper are usually towards the bottom of rate the class story threads i thought they were really good while thinking the Imperial agent which is usually considered the best or at least top 3 to be way over rated. As for republic: Trooper: If you like real life military and the issues that face the everyday soldier/special forces (protocol vs effectiveness) blindly following orders vs doing your own thing to achieve the mission goals and deciding what's more important, your military organization in which you are a member of or the people (citizens/politics) your organization is sworn to protect then you will like this story. It plays out more like a series of military assignments over one coherent story. Light side soldier who follows the rules or dark side renegade who gets the job done no matter the costs (think mass effect) Consular: Classic Jedi. Knowledge, diplomacy, healing. You are set up to be a paragon of virtue and powerful force user. Instead of popcorn movie action and massive epic missions to stop dooms day devices and sith lord after sith lord you serve as a healer at the start and eventually become a diplomat. Setting up alliances, securing aid to the republic, proper diplomatic etiquette and being a true peaceful jedi are what you can expect with this story. (Of course you can go darkside but i don't think it makes sense) Knight: Movie popcorn eating action, chosen one, great hero who will save the republic and galaxy. You are an expert fighter and destined for great things, a true guardian of the republic you can expect lots of action, big movie style moments and a story that feels like all 3 chapters are fully connected. Also one of the best/most interesting ending fights. Light side makes sense but playing neutral (think anakin sky walker) i feel is the best way. Dark side still doesn't make much sense but makes more sense then consular. This story is a classic action hero movie and many consider it to be the closest thing to a KOTOR 3. Smuggler: Feels the most independent out of all the classes, especially in chapter 1 but eventually are forced into the republic side (it make sense but you don't have a choice in the matter anyway). Best dialogue in this story, lots of funny moments and lots of flirt options if that is your thing. Best chapter 1 villain in the game imo, you really want to get him/her. You can play the story like a adventuring hero space cowboy or a slimy criminal outlaw via the dialogue choices including mixing both or wanting just to focus on making credits. Treasure hunter, privateer. The story feels like a series of adventures. If people Jack Sparrow and Han solo are characters you like and wonder what kind of adventures they would have before their big moments in movies then you will enjoy this story. Light side cowboy or dark side criminal and neutral plays out just fine.
  3. Jedi Knight darkside can make sense. Well maybe not full darkside evil evil but darkside in a way that the Hero of Tython is not in control of his emotions (romance, anger etc) and believes the Empire must be stopped at all costs and the republic must prosper for the greater good. Playing him sort of like a radical Anakin Skywalker. Smuggler is a great story especially if you play it with the 12x exp bonus and not bother with so many side quests. It's got great characters and dialogue, great voice actor (for male at least) and by far one of the best if not the best act 1 villain in the whole game. It's just a fun adventure, you can play your smuggler like a space cowboy or maybe a bandit. Someone who wants only credits or a wandering hero who stays around just long enough to help people out. A girl in every space sport and it feels by far the most "independent" out of all the classes (even bounty hunter). While trooper gets a bad rep it's a great story if you are into the military, soldiers, regulations and the tough decisions soldiers need to make like following orders no matter what or disobeying for the "greater good". Following regulations and protocol which can slow things down and harm your mission or doing it your own way and possibly suffer the consequences from your commanding officer. Choosing whats more important, the military organization you are a part of or the citizens that organization is sworn to protect. etc etc.
  4. I played the game at launch, quit pretty quick and come back every 6-8 months to give the game a try again and this is one of those trials so i have no idea where current classes stand and such. Just got an Agent to level 10 and chose operative as i already have a gunslinger and really want to try stealthy game play (though i don't like the sound of the jedi consular and sith inquisitor storylines). I'm just looking for general tips/advice on playing a sneaky operative? I heard they are good for healing and while i don't mind switching to healing to change things up i'd like to level mostly as a sneaky type character. A rogue. I plan to level by doing most class/side quests and unranked warzones. I don't really care for flashpoints, ranked pvp or stuff like that i just want to enjoy the story and have fun playing the class. How should i build my operative for this if i want to be a sneaky rogue type who is going invisible, backstabbing etc etc?
  5. I honestly can't fathom one reason why they can't just let you have both titles after chapter 3. It's such a simple gesture that would make a lot of people happy and cost virtually no resources.
  6. That is a real shame. I don't see why it would be such a big deal/hard thing to do for them to just add those titles back into the game. It would make a lot of people happy and wouldn't take long at all to implement.
  7. Played the game during beta, i remember getting a General title at end of Jedi Knight story if you were darkside but a bunch of cry babies whined because they didn't get to be masters so Bioware gave you the master title no matter what and for some reason took away General. I quit a month or so after launch and come back every 6-8 months for 30 days to give the game a try again and this is one of those 30 day trials. I'm just wondering if the General title was brought back because i know a lot of people wanted it. If not, have they at least explained why? I think other classes also loss titles but i can't remember which.
  8. Thanks for all the good advice. I had a level 23 gunslinger and just got him to level 28. So far its not too complicated but i don't think i will ever get used to using the interrupt ability.
  9. I want to play an operative since i have a level 28 gunslinger however i am not to good in combat. Which spec is least complicated and good for solo leveling/un ranked warzones?
  10. Played the game at launch, quit before a month and have come back 3-4 times over the years for no longer then a month. I really want to play through some class stories so decided once and for all i'll just do it. I plan to level by doing story quests/side quests and maybe some flashpoints/heroics on the way while queing for warzones and doing them every chance i get. So my question is, would it be better to just use the gear i get from quests as i level or should i buy one of the outfits from the cartel market and research which mods go best with it? Also the main reason i keep quitting this game is the combat, i just can't get into it. I want to do Smuggler and Jedi Knight storylines at the very least with also Bounty Hunter and Sith Warrior on my list, possibly Agent. Which class is least complicated? I like simple and spamming the same abilities is fine with me i don't want things to be overly complicated. I don't care about ranked PvP i'll just be solo leveling and doing unranked warzones.
  11. Haven't played much, and my main char is only level 28 but so far: Smuggler (my main): I've loved it so far. Mixed light/dark. Dark choices usually are taking bribes, stealing/selling things to people for the black market. Light choices are helping out women/kids and not betraying contacts. Doesn't like the empire, isn't a huge fan of the republic (yet) and just wants lots of credits. It worked really well for the starter planet, Capital world and Taris but once i got to Nar Shadda i noticed the dialogue was a bit different. On many occasions i couldn't just accept a quest by saying i want money or my fee will be expensive. Instead i had options to sound like a noble, good guy who wants to help or just a jerk who doesn't care about anything and refuse and thats just not how i been playing my smug so far so its a bit of a let down but i'm not nearly done with it yet. Bounty hunter: Fun so far just being a professional. Whatever the job is i do exactly what i was told, light or darkside. Knight: I'm enjoying being a Jedi whos more aggressive, willing to go to war and destroy the empire with the republic as opposed to defense/peaceful solution and also believes romance is not wrong. Hes not a dark jedi though, still cares about helping people and doing the everyday "good guy" stuff. I guess he reminds me of Anakin from the clone wars movie a bit. The problem is im having a hard time making it work that my master/other jedi don't sense the little darkness i have so i might re roll a pure lightside Knight. Warrior: It was fun playing more "lightsided" in a sense that my Sith had honor, enjoyed a good fight and wanted whats best for the empire so he wasn't a dick to imperial soldiers/personal but also was loyal to Baras. That didn't work well so i deleted the character after capital world. It seems like its set up for darkside to be loyal to baras or not and for lightside just to not be. Trooper: I liked the starter world but haven't continued since i have heard bad things. I love war movies but i was told its not like everyday war movies since your not actually in the big war much.
  12. Which AC is best for just doing class quests/planet side quests for leveling while doing unranked warzones inbetween? I have no plans to do lots of flashpoints/ops or ranked pvp.
  13. I came back to the game after a long time a couple days ago and have never played anywhere but Ebon Hawk. The wait time between warzones for the times i play is too long for my taste (20+minutes) and the server overall seems less populated than i remember. I noticed Bergen Colony seems to have standard Population during the times i play when Ebon Hawk as light or they both have standard. Does anyone play on both EB and BC and know which server is more populated/better for unranked warzones while leveling? My highest level character at the moment is 17 so it wouldn't be a problem just starting from scratch though my legacy name i got very early on after launch and doubt i can get it on a different server. Also i live in NYC, is there a big difference between East and West coast servers?
  14. I can't imagine it being difficult at all to add the title back in. They could even put it on the Cartel Market for 100-300 coins if thats the only way to get it back.
  15. For Jedi who are denied to be made Master. Was in one of the betas but got taken out because people complained they couldn't have the Master title. Since you get Master no matter what now i don't see why it would be a problem to just add General back for both lightside/darkside Jedi to use after their class stories.
  16. Not sure where to put this so sorry if this is the wrong place but: For the new human male hair you get in the pack off the cartel market, does the hair clip with most of the armors in the game? I bought it and noticed it glitched into the armor shown on the character creation screen for BH However it didn't glitch into the starting outfit you get so i'm wondering, is its worth leveling a toon with this hair or does it glitch into most armors?
  17. Hi, i pre ordered the game and got it at launch. Really enjoyed the class stories but ended up quitting after a month (Wasn't interested in the combat/im not good at micromanaging also there was alot of problems around that time for those who remember. I was on an old PC so the game was on lowest settings, ran laggy and was just a bad experience.). Since then i came back twice, once for 2 weeks a few months after launch (similar issues as to why i quit) and once August 2012 with a brand new gaming computer. I enjoyed the game 10x more and while combat still didn't interest me much/ i managed to get to level 20-22 on all my characters (5). I found doing pvp to level in between quests was really fun despite combat not being important to me. However after a month i ended up quitting again. Partly due to lack of time and partly because i was having a few issues that bothered me which i will address below. Sorry for the kind of long intro but i figured a little background would help. Here are my questions as a returning player: 1. I played on Ebon Hawk server and i plan on restarting completely. Is this still a populated server? If not, could you recommend one? 2. Overall how is the population in game atm? 3. I had a problem that during flashpoints people would leave if i didn't skip dialogue/wasn't the best fighter. Is that a problem that still persists? I prefer to play solo so i can't join a guild to do them with. Despite being a returning player i still consider myself a "noob" i've never done world bosses and only the first flashpoint for Republic and Empire. Are there people out there with enough patience to walk us through these events for the first time? 4. Has anything major changed since August 2012 despite the latest DLC/race add on? One problem i had was that there seems to be constant changes to pvp which makes certain classes over powered or under powered. I don't have the time to level up a character and have it turn out to be one of the worst classes for end game once i reach it. For instance i had a Pyrotech BH i made in August which was considered one of the best and now apparently it got nerfed really bad. Is there a class that stays the same for the most part despite all the changes? 5. Do they have any plans on extending the class stories? That is without a doubt the main reason i keep trying to come back to this game and i'd love to know that by the time i reach 50 with a few toons there would be new class stories to experience (will take me several, several months) 6. In your opinion, will this game last for years to come despite all its past grievances? Is it worth my time/money to invest in it if in a year or two it will be a dead game with few players/no updates? Is there a real chance at a comeback like LOTRO for instance?
  18. Also keep in mind as a whole this game was worked on for several years and there was so much hype and excitement for its launch that the way everything turned out with the massive amounts of negatively (which comes with EVERY LAUNCH but was extra hard on Swtor due to all the hype) without a doubt put a damper on some spirits. Then the fact that it went f2p so soon is just another nail on the coffin.
  19. As a gunslinger between levels 10-19 so far (leveling with class quests+pvp) i've been able to hit up to 150k+ damage on most matches with a bad match being considered by myself to be anything less than 90k damage. On my Sentinel of the same level range i get 70-90k damage with anything over 100k damage for me being considered good. On my sniper same level range i get 80-100k damage with anything over 120k being considered good to me. So basically gunslinger can be a beast, especially if you spam that charged burst and focus on the squishy targets.
  20. I bought the valiant jedi armor and ended up deleting the character with it bound because i didn't like the class i was playing at all (Guardian) and didin't like his face anymore . They should really be account bound even if it wasn't a big deal to me since $15 is nothing.
  21. People who keep mentioning Mickey mouse and such obviously don't know much about Disney, they are responsible for the following movies: Pulp Fiction Pirates of the Carribbean series John Carter Prince of Perisa: Sands in Time TRON Chronicles of Narnia movies National Treasure The Three Musketeers and many more that have nothing to do with the classic "Disney is animated, Disney is for kids" Micky mouse& Tinkerbell. They are perfectly capable of making serious movies. Action, drama, adventure, comedy, kids, romance, suspense. They can do it and i think they will do fine with Starwars.
  22. I have Jedi Knight who helps people out, does the classic "Jedi stuff" (save planets, give money to innocent beggars/orphans, not accept payment, try to find a peaceful solution for most scenarios) but i also rack up darkside points because i often make decisions based on emotions like hateing a certain character who killed lots of people and not letting him live or helping the republic secure ways to beat the empire even if they mean more war as my Knight believes the Empire must be stopped. He also believes romance is fine and all though hes not flirting with everyone he enjoys a nice emotional attachment with Kira. So thankfully with the dark side/light side system i can do all that and if i want to RP it i just think of Anakin a bit during the clone wars movie or i say to myself my Knight believes in the Jedi more for them serving than republic not for their actual code. He believes the republic must defeat the empire but that doesn't mean hes going to fall to the darkside like Revan or Anakin (who was manipulated into thinking the Jedi were against the republic)
  23. I rolled rp server since they are usually more friendly/helpful and willing to take noobs like myself through flashpoints/deal with us in pvp as we learn the warzone and i've gotten at least 7 trades of good items from random people just from asking a nooby question on fleet. I don't rp myself so i just ignore it and certainly dont try to ruin it for them.
  24. Thanks i got cyber tech and scavenging and managed to get good armoring and mods for my valiant jedi armor but now i need enchantments and they have none of any kind for sale ( i ried many different searches on the GTN) so how do i get enhancements without getting rid of my 2 crew skills?
