If slicing can't profit..... what point, exactly, does it have?

I have no idea if it increases or decreases changes on RE. I just wanted to do a couple at a time instead of all I had. Everything I tried to do to split the stacks didn't work, including firing off med packs and stims trying to shift-left click. Probably something that needs a little tuning in the UI.

Is there a way to break apart stacks of goods?
