  1. As someone stated, since you have a companion been a sage/healer you can easy solo all the way to L50 with little pain. Just outfit your comps to play tank and yo are set to go. My Sage is weird I guess : she is into TeleK (dps). But she heals well anyways, so I can stand back, send my comp in, shield and heal him and also throw damage. Is a compromise that wont work on group outings, but for me to solo to 50 worked great, and even now I can solo all dailies with this setup. As others mention, if you want ranged work (dps or heals) stay sage.
  2. The conversation points seem to be assigned to the companion out at the moment of the conversation. I have turned in quests that have assigned points to more than one companion, because I switched comps during the process of the quest. You still end up with the same number of points, they just get assigned around. The conversations with your companions are tied to affection level as well as your own level. I have had (as an example) Mako very quiet for a while, then level up and suddenly she has 3 or 4 conversations for me. Her affection was well ahead of my own level, so the conversations didn't trigger. Sooner or later, the comps catch up with you. As far as I know, there has been no change to the conversation process. Actually, they added HK-51 and added affection for the ship robot yet the conversation process on quest hasn't been updated so they gain basically none.
  3. First, you seem to be going about this kind of strange. You should choose your crafting skill first, then choose the gathering and mission skills that support that crafting skill. But, anyways... I have both and have found Artifice much more productive. - Crystals are ALWAYS on demand. To a lesser extent, hilts ad enhancements, but people are always out for crystals. - Synthweaving makes clothes for force users. So many armor is dropped on the game and you get it also from flashpoints and heroics, there is barely a need to buy them from crafters. The only exception are belts and wrist pieces, and the thing is that many of the schematics in synthweaving are class restricted (only for Jedi Knight, for example). I find both armormech and synthweaving have much less demand than what I get from Cybertech (have two of those now!) and Artifice, followed by armstech (barrels) and Biotech (implants).
  4. I have all of them at 400, and use all of them. Some more than others of course. - Cybertech and Artifice I use all the time. Armoring, mods, earpieces, crystals. You never have enough. Mostly to level up my alts, or to sell off as I research higher level schematics. Followed by Armstech for the barrels. - Biotech has come along lately and I use it, but mostly for the implants. - Armormech and Synthweaving I use less. Because I use orange gear mostly, Once I choose my oranges there is little reason to change them. But many of them sell very well on the GTN. I also run the missions all the time since I have been upgrading affection on all my toons to take advantage of affection boost on legacy. So the more presents, the better. So even on my L50s already at 400 I keep running missions all the time, for materials and/or presents. Nothing goes to waste. Note : I have 8 toons, one of every class/faction.
  5. Or, easier maybe... Why not a Legacy TAB on your locker? And whatever you move to the legacy tab can be seen from whichever toon you login on? I liked in GW you have a materials tab, which is dedicated only to materials. The perfect way to support crafters. Another wish : I would like to access it (Legacy locker, or shared tab) from the char selection screen. You know, when you select your server and the list of toons is on the right? At this point I should be able to access the lockers and move things around. It makes no sense to go through 4 or 5 load screens just to see if that one toon has the material you need. really... I would suggest leaving the bound/unbound issue to another thread. Just as the bound system is, the Legacy/shared locker would be great. In other threads I support "more" things been legacy bound, but that is just a diff discussion.
  6. As stated above, check by section. As each section clears the whole section will become clear. Going by map section is easier to point what is missing. In most planets the location for the world boss is only a few hexagons big and needs to be cleared, even if you don't fight him. I research each planet completely, even the opposite factions areas and bases. Obsessive that way. ;-)
  7. Social gear is very good if you want to do orange modify-able setup from the start. It is very affordable and you get a whole setup right away. I did this with my sage and Jedi Knight, trying to stay away from the brown robes. The female version I used elegant (yes, ran around battlefields looking very elegant) minus the hat, it is just ridiculous. And for my jedi knight I wanted pants, not a robe. Then, later in the game I got them better (looks wise) stuff. Really, understand that all that adaptive does is get you around the heavy/medium/light restrictions. So if you can only wear light and all the light choices suck, then look at adaptive...
  8. Actually other than the ship bot, most robot companions do well. I am using HK on my 50s, but I also use Scorpio and M1-4X (or whatever his name is) on my trooper. Another tip with HK : if your toon is "soft" armor wise (healers etc), you might want to turn off his stealth skill, or when he does that all the bad guys will come right at you.
  9. I wear what drops or what I can get using commendations until L25 or so. Then I start switching to orange gear that LOOKS GOOD to me. Usually by L32 I am all orange gear on my main char and some of my comps. Leave belts and wrist pieces to the end, they are hard to find and too expensive. Orange gear is common drop for many heroics so slowly but surely you can get all the pieces. And with the use of "Unify Colors" it doesn't look too bad. The only reason to get Cartel or GTN is LOOKS. If you really have to have that one particular look, then you might as well save the credits and go buy it. My recommendation : research online the look you want (google is your friend). Once you have an idea of the look, you can hunt down specific pieces and get the outfit you feel looks best on you.
  10. I am not sure if this will help answer your question, but here is my experience. I have HK on all my L50 toons, but on some I use him more than others. He has this behavior where when you send him to fight, he jumps in, and then jumps back next to you. This has the effect on many crowds to bring the fight to you. Depending on your class and skills, this might not be the best for you. For example my Sage Telek doesn't like the crowd coming at her, so this isn't helpful. But my Jedi Knight dps jumps in anyway, so I go to the crowd, and HK stays ranged. Again, I only have him at L50, but he does put out quite a bit of damage. I use him to solo Sect X all the time (except for the heroic of course).
  11. Different classes start on different planets, but thats just the very first planet. By the second planet you find each other (assuming you are both on the same faction (Republic or Empire) and server). You will be on your first planet until around L8 to 10. But this goes fast, so just do the quests and you will level up in a hurry. Once you get sent to the second planet (lets say, Drumond Kass for Empire), you can start playing together on regular quests, heroics, etc. To start a guild you need 4 people logged on at the same time, and some credits to register the guild. I have never done one, so thats as far as I know. Hope that helps
  12. Amen to that. It is amazing how ventrilo/mumble/whatever you use changes the nature of the game. From instructions to casual chat when just walking around,
  13. Besides titles. species seems to be one of the most bugged type of entry. I don't see a single one on your list, so you got them all granted??? wow. Some people are definitely more stubborn than I am. :-)
  14. I (in my limited experience) also agree with the statement that regular FPs and low level HM FPs don't truly require the typical Healer-Tank-2xdps team. I have done a couple of HM FPs with 3 dps and works fine, and recently one with no healer. Of course, well equipped experienced players who know how to cc, control AoE, etc are needed. But here is a concept that I have understood from the discussion (not just this one) and I don't fully understand : a well equipped knowledgeable tank does not depend/need the healer. Really? In my logical (maybe wrong) point of view, most of the healer's purpose is to support the tank. The tank should hold most agro, so the dps shouldn't get hurt much. If everybody is doing their job, this combo would defeat anything over time. But if I understand correctly, the tank should not depend on the healer? Then, what is the healer for? The tank is holding the agro, the dps should be able to survive limited damage, so.. ?? (Of course I am not taking mayor ops I know dynamics are different there).
  15. That rear path to get the collicoid entry in Balmorra was closed up. There are now rocks in place that make it impossible to climb up there. Not sure why they would take the time to do that and not fix the million codex entries that are broken.
  16. The only thing my synthweaver does is craft belts and wrist pieces for my other toons. Most of the stuff you craft is class specific, or oranges you can get from FPs or heroics. My busiest crafter is the cybertech, because I use orange armor on all my toons and comps.
  17. Maybe I am one of those "glass half full" people, but I think a lot of the miss-queue (besides the bugs) is true ignorance. We do have players that don't know anything at all and want to do ops the next morning. I know there are a lot of players that want to start with a 50 and go on from there. As long as LFG puts random groups together you will get random knowledge and gear on them. I still think the grand majority is mistakes, bugs and just lack of knowledge. My brother just started playing, very first MMO. He doesn't even know what dps is, let alone gear, etc. He is learning quick (one of the good things about the leveling process), but then my other brother (I have 7) told him to go to PvP. So, how is this fool L27 who doesn't even know what dps is going to do?? Way in too deep for someone who doesn't even know how to swim. But, the game allows it, so he can, and he does. I just think : give people a chance to do their job. Don't jump to judgement. If you queued as heals, go ahead and heal. If you don't, you get kicked out. I am only saying this because, as frustrating as it might be for you as an expert player to deal with less knowledge players, it is hard for us (I never consider myself an expert) to break into the higher level content because others don't give you a chance. How am I to get better equipment if others don't give me a chance to run higher content to get better equipment?? And, for those you claim do this on purpose and are, basically, jerks... well, they probably wont read any of this.
  18. Well, I am going to jump in because of a horrible experience I had recently. I have multiple classes of toons, dps, healers, and what I think off as a tank. My "tank", a Sith Juggernut, is ok equiped (post 50 in most areas) with a shield, etc... Now I have tank many FPs, but when I started playing HM FPs I found myself in (what I will call) an "elitist" group with a guy who inmediatly called all my equipment crap and not a "tank". We did the whole FP without deaths. Even at the end he still complained. It made it a horribly stressful situation for ME, which has resulted on me not playing that tank since. So now, before we go off into what skills work for what, lets stay with the OP. 1. Sounds to me a bit paranoid to think people miss-queue just to mess up your group. With the advent of been kicked out, I would not think this behavior would pay off. When I was complained about as a tank, I offered to quit the group voluntarily. 2. We all have to learn, if you only want to play with experts, you might have to join a guild full of them and only play with them. Obviously all of us have to level our toons and get equipment, which takes time. So people aren't born tanks or healer overnight. I find that been more supportive of other players could pay off better on the long run than only playing with the elite. 3. Not everybody sees their role as Zero sees them. As shown in this thread right here, some people build their healers diff ways. So if it doesn't match Zero's definition, is not good?? humm.... I would not focus so much on their equipment or build. I never inspect other players when I go in an LFG group. When I am healer, as an example, I notice immediately who is "weaker" and who is stronger equipment wise. See if they can do the job. If you are heals, then heal. If they don't, kick them out. For lack of performance. If they work, ie, they heal the team well enough, what does it matter how do they do it or what equipment exactly they have on?
  19. My L50s are at lower level planets all the time. - Codex chase, map clearing - crafting : getting lower materials I need to craft for my lower level alts. This could be a good reason for me to stand around with no companions, they are all busy crafting and I don't really need them at low level areas. - I also stand around outside the Jedi Temple at Tython and hand out buffs, answer questions in general chat, and maybe lend a hand for somebody who can't get their lightsaber. I have never noticed people walking. If I do, I imagine it is an NPC. But I can see role players doing as mentioned above. And of course you will see high/low pairs when helping somebody out. This happens a lot now that my brothers are playing.
  20. Lets see, first let me say no active guild, PvE player. After a year and on my 8th toon, I find that life after 50 is about pacing yourself. I can't grind dailies over and over to get all the gear, so I have to take breaks between doing that. Thats why I have the 8 toons by now. I truly enjoy raising a new class all the way to 50 more than some of the after 50 work. So I usually have two toons under development, and I go to the 50s to do crafting for them, run dailies or HM FPs to get credits and gear, then go back to the development toons, etc... I fully equip my companions, which is a bit foolish because you don't use them as much once you hit 50. Most of the post-50 work is group work. It is still enough to keep me very busy and enjoy the game a lot. Actually the HK chase pushed me to try HM FPs and now I am starting to run those more frequently. Haven't made a dent into ops yet, but you really need to have support for that, so I would have to join a real active guild for it.
  21. My sorc healer is also Artifice. Crystals and Lightsaber hilts always sell well. Another option could be cybertech. Armoring, mods, earpieces.
  22. I totally agree that binding to Legacy supports more sells. If the buyer thinks they will get to use the item more, get their "coins" out of it, they are more likely to buy it.
  23. I am very disappointed as well. I understand other work might seem more glamorous to the developers, and of course, maybe more urgent. But this reflects a "lack of quality" to the product. Lack of attention to detail. And, mostly, it seems something SOOO easy to fix. I would be willing to do some of it for free if they let me. But then, a lot of the stuff they do reflects poorly on quality. They fix one thing, break a few others in the process. How long for companions to work right on groups? What about companions against WBs? Is the epileptic fit supposed to be that way?? Companions and elevators? Seems they either don't care, or they can't figure it out. Either way. it is bad. Just yesterday I finished bonus round in Alderran and saw a flash of red saying "title xxxxxxxxxxxx unlocked". I went and checked, and it is (available as a title). Codex count? 0/1. ??? Oh well.
  24. That is why I never supported a full "bind EVERYTHING" to Legacy statement. Come on guys, it IS a business. Even my thread only said "bind MORE to legacy", not everything. My main issue is with random skill drop items. Let me send them around my account. Other than that, hey, rare stuff is rare stuff and if you buy it, it comes with conditions. Re datacrons : I am a big datacron collector. I have 67/67 on all my L50s. I consider the chase for DCs and other codex entries part of leveling up the toon, as it gets you XP,, you go to areas you otherwise might not visit, kill mobs you otherwise might not kill. After you do them a few times it does get boring, but that is no reason to make them Legacy. It makes "logical" sense to inherit knowledge among your characters, but, when is a game logical? ;-) I do think a special perk could be added (+xx something) when you hit 67/67. Like unlocking the companions, something that demonstrates your accomplishment account wide.
  25. To clarify, I support more items been legacy bound, no matter where they come from, to support legacy. In particular, I think any time Bioware decides to play "random skill " drops that might not apply to your current toon, the item should be bound to legacy so that at least you have a better chance to be able to use the item. As example, I hate when my "willpower" toon gets AIM and cunning items that I would like to use on my other toons. I dont quite understand the "legacy datacrons", but it would not hurt to add some reward for getting them all (67/67) for example. Like when you reach affection with your comps kind of thing.
