  1. And for the record, I understand that I can be lumped into the whiner category as of this post. Hypocrisy is a *****.
  2. With all the whining going on in seemingly every forum category on this site, it would be really helpful to add the following two features: 1: PLEASE add search, so that I can find out information about skills or flashpoints and wade through all the crybabies. I enjoy the game, and am simply trying to find forum posts that are related to the game as intended.. Im not interested in hearing about how WoW has this or that... and simply would love to search for the posts that will mean something to me.. 2: Please allow me to click a button to see all my previous posts, so that I can revisit threads that I have participated in or started without having to sift back page after page scanning for these threads. If these features already exist, please pardon me as I have not been able to locate the ability to do either. As a sidenote: I do not subscribe to threads because I do not want my email getting bogged down with hundreds of emails, its easier to adopt similar features that most other boards provide that allow you to see your post history.
  3. I lead a group that defeated SD-0 pretty easily. We had 2x50 chars -1 sentinel -1 shadow We also had about 5-6x25ish chars -1 heals -rest dps We then also had about 10 people varied from 12-18 -1 heals -rest dps We did not have a tank for this exercise and the 25 healer kept the lvl50 dps healed, our low level healer healed up the lower lvl chars.. We noticed a nuke type AOE or Cleave effect on our first attempt, so on our second attempt we put the heals directly behind the boss, and the 2 lvl 50 in front (obviously) Then we spaced out our melee so that they were not stacked up on each other as in our first attempt, we were all attacking from the front, and the cleave/aoe killed 90% of the group in 1 shot due to the low level ppl dominating our party. This tactic worked great, and we downed the boss after about a 5minute fight. We got 3 purple drops, I pulled some nice lvl16 req medium armor leggings with str/end for my jedi sentinel. Couldnt be happier right now will be happier when I actually hit lvl16 My new guild was impressed with my raid leading abilities, they didnt realize my raiding exp from WoW
  4. I have seen many arguments made in this post, some good and some bad.. Lets look at perhaps the most egregious one of them all.. "The was never meant to be a sandbox game" Really? because last time i checked, an MMO IS a sandbox game.. Sandbox might as well be another term for MMO.. I would like to reply to these people by saying that if you want a single player game, go play one. That being said, I do think that "sharding" or "Instancing" has its place in the game. Sure, in quest heavy areas, especially in the first 10 levels, it can be executed well.. Many will remember that Blizzard executed this well with the lich king, from levels 55-63ish if memory serves me correctly, but after the quest line was completed, you were cast back out into the real world, when you made your way to the nearest mega city (stormwind for me) got pelted with rotten fruit, and pledged allegiance to the alliance. I think that BW needs to take a similar approach. The thing that HOOKED me on MMO's was when I went into the "big" town, and saw hundreds of people.. I was in AWE... How could someone come up with such an awesome idea for a game where thousands of people played together in a community sense.. Who knows what the later levels will be like, if they will cut back on the sharding once the playerbase starts hitting 50.. The point of all this is that I REALLY want this game to succeed, and i gave up on wow a long time ago.. but thats not to say that WOW didnt do many things right, really right. Im just tired of wow.. There are so many things that this game does better than WoW, but a couple of things that it does drastically worse, which IMO ruin the game. Sharding being one of those things (at least un-shard the cities because in the end game, you spend most of your time running around the popular city talking to guildies, trading, and checking out other peoples gear/builds/mounts etc... getting ready to raid)
  5. Wrong.. each time someone hits a mob, the server sends the client an update of the mobs health as well as who dealt the damage. It is not part of a chat log, but the data is still being sent to your client, otherwise combat would not work correctly.
  6. Pretty sure you can login and play the game if you meet the system reqs.. last I checked the servers were accessible.
  7. I think a lot of people that are crying about the lack of solid answers need to take a lesson in reading between the lines. I felt like he gave pretty solid answers.. In fact it was pretty clear to me that the: Framerate issues, high priority 50% load, uber high priority Charecter delay issues, high priority Legacy, soon but lets get the high priority fixes done first LFG, were not sure this is the road we want to go down, as such we have not even begun coding this type of system yet, so it will be a long time, if it ever materializes. Housing/Ship - still figuring out how complex this should be, on the drawing board, going to happen, not being coded just yet but some parts of the tech might already be part of the existing codebase. Need I go on? In public relations, for works in progress, you can never give straight forward answers, just look at any other field. For example, when was the last time you got a straight answer out of a politician? never.. because they know the consequences that come with drawing a line in the sand. The trick is being able to read between the lines, and for god sakes, if you are so emotionally attached to this game that you are literally enraged by a feature, you need to step back and reflect on whats really important in your life. As an example, I hate the sharding that they implemented, HATE it.. I used to love in WOW going into stormwind and seeing hundreds of people everywhere, it is what really made that game epic for me... this game doesnt have that epic feeling, but its still fun and I am enjoying it. If I lose interest in the game because of the lack of community that sharding a server causes, then they will lose a paying customer, and maybe if they lose enough, they will invest in tech that will eliminate the need for sharding, and if not, maybe the game will fail and everyone will go back to WOW. One thing that you will be hard pressed to find me doing is crying because the feature that means the most to me is not the main priority of bioware nor will I be pissed off because they wont tell me what their main priority is, because I understand that no matter what their priority is, 2/3 of the community is going to be pissed off about it. Better to just keep that kind of thing private.
  8. Not specifically, but what you don't understand is how information is like weapons grade plutonium. If he tells us that this feature is going to end up like "this"... however its not fully developed, and then they miss the date, or run into tech problems and release something a little different than initially described, or maybe have to reduce the feature set of the enhancement.. This will create an extremely dissatisfied base of people that will scream bloody murder for years and take it personal as if the devs were specifically picking on them and trying to ruin their day. As such, its really important to only comment on things that are "in the bag" and even then, all is not written in stone. Being able to tell the community that "hey this is on our radar" is confirmation that I think a lot of people can take comfort in, even if he didn't spill every detail.
  9. I don't think a lot of people understand how well he actually DID answer the questions. I am a community manager of sorts for a very large austin based company as well I WISH that I was able to share the kind of details he was able to... When people tell me what they want from our products, I thank them for their feedback and assure them that I will forward it to the right people.. At least he can tell us that something is on the table, or a priority.
