  1. My advice to everyone here: Keep a backup copy of the entire game. Then, when something like this happens, delete your game and copy over the backup copy. I just pulled out my old backup version from a few months ago and hopped right in without a problem and no downloads. Or just download the Steam version (it's free also) and your account is still linked - all you're doing is using Steam as the launcher instead of Bioware's piece of **** breaking software.
  2. Yeah I'm predicting already that Windows 11 will be Vista 2.0. It is my hope that Windows 11 is enough of a push to get people to go to Linux. MS has ruled for entirely too long. I'm hoping Valve's Linux-friendly attitude is as contagious as COVID-19.
  3. The problem, like any game economy left unchecked, is that they keep adding ways to make money and not enough sinkholes to get rid of large amounts of it. Think of World of Warcraft and its 25 dailies limit. 25 quests with tons of payout with very little money payout in armor repairs... yeah over a year that's going to mean you've a lot of money out there not being eradicated from the game. And simply passing it along to someone else does nothing to the supply of money. Think of the daily login rewards we get. You get lots of credits, plus the money you can earn from dailies and running instances over and over, with very little repair costs. Yeah it's no wonder that people are running around with 15 million credits in a month and then put level 10 items on the GTN for 150,000. They've busted the economy up and the only real way to solve this issue would be to wipe credits in excess of 'x' amount. You can bet that this won't be an option they'll pursue.
  4. The launcher needs this as an option: check to start downloads MANUALLY and disable AUTO-DOWNLOADS I could simply wait to see if there are problems before even attempting to download to avoid this in the future. I've been playing since the release date (off and on) and this has occurred many times over the years.
  5. The response indicates that the problem's been fixed and that if you downloaded (or started to) then you're ****ed. You have to download the whole thing again.
  6. Is there any way to avoid redownloading a freaking 12 GB game again (6 hours download for me)? Note to self: I'm going to start keep damn backups after each update to avoid this in the future.
