  1. Bad information I recieved when I first started playing... Also when I was looking at my stats AIM is used to determine damage with ranged weapons. So in my head me being a sharpshooter my skill relyed more on my ranged weapons and not on tech weapons like grenades and melee attacks like blaster whip and the famous nutshot. Lol made sence to me at the time so I just stuck with it.
  2. Lol when I found out ive been doing things the hard way I instantly did a /facepalm. I almost want to reroll my toon just to see how easy it could have been. Thing that torked me off the most was the time and resorces I wasted with my cybertech skill trying to make mods and stuff for my equipment. Yep ya got it... all aim and endurance stats. Ugh.. now I gotta screw around and make the right stuff. All the elites I've had to kill has been a pretty big chore but I was able to pull it off. There was one I needed help with where the Jedi and Sith fought with that big fat guy in the mix. I cant imagine how easy things might be now with the right stats... Needless to say the whole aim suggestion came from sombody I asked in game when I first started playing almost a month ago. I should have looked at my stats a little closer when I was jacking my equipment around. Live and learn I guess. Oh and hey whats the deal with Akaavi Spar... why is all her gear Aim when shes melee... am I missing something there or is that a bug?
  3. oh no troll at all... just trying to figure this out... So what class would just use aim? would that strictly be troopers then?
  4. Ok here is my problem. I have a level 47 Gunslinger running along the Sharp-shooter tree. The whole time I have made sure to have my aim as high as possible and dropped trying to use cunning from the start. Even makeing sure to build up my cybernetics crafting with all advanced prototype reflex gear thinking I would use that stuff instead of trying to buy it. Am I totally going at this the wrong way? I got to looking at the endgame gear and there isnt a stitch of armor or weapons that have aim on it... When I was in my lowerr levels my reasoning was aim is used to make higher damage with ranged weapons and cunning is used for tech weapons like grenades, traps and such. After seeing that there isnt diddly squat as far as aim based armor for any type of gunslinger I am now thinking I might have screwed up. So does blaster pistols in the hands of a gunslinger considered tech and not a ranged weapon then? Please somebody set me strait cuz im really confused.
  5. Just thought I would start a thread and see what games everybody has played through the years. Here is a little history of my online gaming. I have been playing MMO games for over 10 years now. Got my first computer and through a few friends I got introduced to Asherons Call. Still to this day that was my favorite game. Too bad it sort of died out and the community shrank to nothing due to the flop Asherons Call 2 and other games coming out. In late 02 early 03 started playing World War II Online and still play to this day. In 04 I started playing City of Heros/Villians and played for about 6 months then moved to Star Wars Galaxies. SWG was ranking up there with my favorite next to Asherons Call then Black November of 05 (the dreaded NGE expansion) hit and the game died. Tried filling the SWG gap and tried playing Eve online but only made it a month. Finally bit the bullet and started playing WoW in 06. Played that for a couple years and quit. Came back for the Burning Crusade Expansion for a little while. Quit again and started playing Lord of the Rings Online for a few months then went back to WoW at the last expansion for a little while. Got bored and went to Rift for a few months. Saw DC Universe Online and thought I would give that a try... I love comic book heros and that kind of stuff but this game made me want to stick my finger down my throat and vomit on the family cat. What a dissapointment. Then saw this game and here I am. So far so good I think. It could use a little work but the game is still young. Cant have a game like this and not have its rough spots in the beginning. Anyway thats my gaming history. Whats yours? What games did you start with and which ones did you evolve through.
  6. That is awesome!!!!! Who says your too old to do this or too old to do that... Age dosnt mean squat anymore nowadays. Ya know why... Because you are as young as you are on the inside. LIVE YOUNG!!!!!!
  7. +1 for The Older Republic... and I kind of like the Oldspice Smugglers. If sombody does set up a guild of older generation players, I'm in. Hell I just might try to myself. Ive never ran a guild before but hell its worth a shot. If I suck at it I can just pass the torch onto somebody that knows what they are doing. Any suggestions as to a good server to use?
  8. Im thinking a 30+ guild... we all grew up during the Star Wars A new hope, Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi years so we are all sort of on the same boat.
  9. I was drinking Black and Tans (1/2 Bass pale ale and 1/2 guiness poured on top carefully so bottom half is tan and the top is dark) the night I made mine. Actually drank one too many. Named my legacy Blackantan... I wonder if you can change your legacy name.
  10. I think it would be cool to start a guild with everybody in this thread...
  11. Soon to be 36 y.o. Ironworker. Been playing MMO since 01. AC, WWIIOL, City of Heros/villians, SWG, WoW, Eve, LOTROL, STOL, Rift, DCUOL and now SWTOR.
  12. Lol no kidding. Dont post and walk away or you will never find it again. Thank god for email post alerts.
  13. Anybody?.... Just trying to figure out if I am the only one experiencing this or what... I am generaly a patient person but I dont like having to sit and wait if I dont have to. Man these boards move fast. Post and 5 min later its 3 pages deep.
  14. So I take a lot of other people has had to sit for an hour or longer to redownload and reinstall the game for a 300MB or so patch?
  15. I posted this in the public test threads so I'm not sure if I went to the right place to ask this so I will try it here. Went to download the patch this morning. It downloaded about 1/4 of it then stopped saying that there was an error. Hit the "repair" and now its downloading almost 12GB. Surely the patch isnt that big and the game cant be that fubar'd that it needs to be completly downloaded and reinstalled again. Or is that normal?
  16. WoW is just down right boring when you get a few lvl 85 toons but hey SWTOR cant be as bad as DC Universe.... I lasted about 2 weeks before I unsubbed/uninstalled it. I almost gag when I think of that game and I am a huge superhero genre fan. Ill take this game over any at the moment.
  17. Amazing how many people they had just doing the voiceovers. There has to be more of them than the people that worked behind the scenes. I would be kind of hard to explain it on the resume. "Yea I'm the guy that did the voiceover for that one green twilek on the online star wars game that said Opee dopee opa panaha nok nok..... hahahaha" then cue awkward silence with chirping crickets.....
  18. Just curious who does some of the voice overs for the NPC's and such?... I can swear that one of them has go to be Morgan Freeman. That voice is pretty reconizable and when I heard it my jaw dropped. One of them sounded alot like Bruce Campbell as well. Anybody know?
  19. Ahahaha ok... I really feel stupid now.... Thats what I get for panicing. Sorry for the bright colors, that was a small moment of insanity. *quietly slinks back into the shadows in embarrasment*
  20. I just spent hours getting enough commendations to get a helmet. Went and bought it for 12 commendations. Then being a dumb ***** I forgot to close the vendor window. Clicked the helmet to equip it and *blink* woohoo I just got 3860 credits. WHA?!?! Aaahh CRAP!!!! All that time wasted!!!!!!! Please Bioware for the love that is all good and holy make the accomendation vendors deal strictly commendations. If you sell a commendation item you get commendation back... not credits. It would sure save alot of heartache for those of us that goof and end up hitting the wrong button.
  21. sorry for being lazy and not looking it up myself but did they ever say exactly what their goals were as far as the space content goes? I think if they were to implement these kind of features into the space realm you would see alot of die hard gamers stick around alot longer. I was told that that each toon type has over roughly 200 hours of content. Can you imagine doubling that. A person would never get bored with this game unless they played 18 hours a day and never saw the light of day again. Needless to say if BW and EA play it smart this game could be the WoW killer.
  22. I totally know where your coming from. The other day I spent 14 commendations on some gear then went to the market and found something better. DOH!!!! went to see if I could turn the gear back in hoping I would get my commendations back... No dice. Needless to say I wont make that mistake again. It would be nice to be able to turn in gear for a refund of commendations within a certain time limit... Also it would be nice to be able to turn in unwanted or unused commendations for credits.
  23. I have played a lot of MMO's, MMOG's, MMORPG's, MMOFPS's, ABCDLMNOP's in the past 11 years. Lets see.... Asherons Call, World War II Online (which I still play), City of Heros/Villians, Star Wars Galaxies (man that game had potential... screw you Sony), WoW, Lord Of The Rings Online, Star Trek Online, EVE Online, Rift, DC Universe Online (sticks my finger down my throat and vomits on the family cat), and this one. I have to say SWTOR takes the cake. I think its the fact that there has been alot of work and effort put into this game. What other game do you know where they used as many voiceovers and time spent into the missions and content of the game. So far I am rather pleased. There are rough spots with various bugs and stuff but hey... You cant honestly think a game of this magnitude can start off from day one and not have a few rough spots. In time the bugs will be weeded out and things will get better. I was hoping the space part of the game would be better though. But seeing on how complex the rest of the game is im not too suprized or let down. I have a feeling the space part was rushed a little and they just stuck the current space content of the game in for the time being to get the game out on time or just please the spacers until they get something better made. I really really hope if and when they do improve, it will be like the SWG space content. A free roaming 360 degree x,y,z axis space world. Can you imagine the space content if you mixed the free roaming universe of SWG and the mission/questing aspect and graphics of of this game together? The sky is the limit. Here is what I hope happens. Hopfully sombody from EA or BIOWARE reads these forums cuz I would like to know if it is do-able. Lets say you are at the docking bay or shipyard. You can enter your ship being able to roam around without having to launch into space. In that aspect its like a house that just happens to fly. The ships are customizable and can be decorated inside and out to add your own touch. The old concept of trophies and such from SWG would be cool. Also you can acces your bank (which you can already do... thats cool) and your mail (that would be a nice feature). But you can have other people join you on your ship as well. Can you imagine have your friends or guild meeting on your ship hanging out or whatever. I am gonna take a little idea off of STOL and say have sabbacc games on your ship. Like the little gambling type game off of STOL. Be an interesting way of making extra creds to spend or just goofing off. Guild meeting/sabbacc game goin on in the lounge of your ship.... just another little side game for those who get bored of blasting everything into dust. But lets say its time to see the stars. You get a mission or whatever and you run to your cockpit. That is where you can choose to launch. Hit the button and away you go. Once in space you have total control of your ship. Also being able to interact with others in space as well. Not only can you take control of your ship while in space but you can mulit-crew. The pilot gets the 3rd person outside views of the ship. Gunners get the 1st person shooter view taking out targets as they fly by. You can have one guy running around inside the ship in 3rd person character view franticly making repairs. So you have a few turret gunners, one guy running around making repairs, the drois in the corner complaining that hes to new to die and needs an oil change. Sounds fun to me... it would make it pretty intense at times I bet. You can be the hotshot pilot while others can run the gun turrets or let them fly and you jump into a gun turret and turn your enemy into a ball of flame. The content here can get complex as far as missions and questing goes as well. Space Flashpoints and Heroic missions is one place where this could be useful. I remember watching the movies as a little kid and thinking it would be fun to sit in one of the gun turrets. In the begining just do what ya can with the ships we have now... Later on add diffrent types of ships of every size and shape... Guild ships can be big corvettes or battle cruisers. Hey a guy can dream cant he? Anyway Im sure ya get my drift. So what are all your ideas? What would you hope to see as far as improving the space content? Is any of this stuff even possible?
