  1. Ok that is a provocative title but here is why. Bolster makes absolutely no sense at 55. If Bioware want a level playing field for PvP then why not just give everyone the pvp set at 55 in a box? Thanks to bolster I run around with 1200 expertise in my PvE gear. I have a full set of pvp gear in my bank and it is just collecting dust. Why don't I use it? Simple. I survive longer with bolster and PvE gear than I do in PvP gear. As a sorc pvp healer (not claiming to be a good one) I have to basically evade everyone. If I go up against a damage dealer I won't survive unless I can get away. My gear doesn't help me with that (you could say the reduction on static barrier helps but it doesnt). Even the expertise damage reduction doesnt help but it's moot as I get 1200 expertise worth for free anyway. So why not just give everyone conqueror to start with? I find bolster is more of a shot in the face of the people who grind out the gear in the first place. I would be sick if I had ground out the full obroan set to be killed by a bolstered player who facerolled across his keyboard to kill me. Now I know what you are going to say here.... a skilled pvp'er in full pvp gear should always kill someone without pvp gear. I give you my answer to that. A skilled pvp'er will kill someone anyway. So that is moot. So I put it to Bioware... remove bolster or give the full pvp set in a box to each user at 55. Keep bolster for the sub 55 game.
  2. I can sum up PvP for you in a flash(point). Empire is made of talentless, solo wannabe, no teamwork, no tactic, argumentative, whining douchebags who have a few people amongst them that despair at the lack of even a remote ability to play the game tactically like they should. Empire suck. Republic is made of people who generally work together, tug each other's lightsabers and get the job done through mutual ************. Republic own the pvp. footnote: I still wouldn't play Republic. I would rather buy a jaa-jaa binks doll, rip the stuffing out of its bottom and have fun... all night long /sings lionel ritchie.
  3. @OP As a sorc healer I can tell you this. The OP/Scoundrel has almost twice the healing power of a sorc healer. Providing the OP/Sc is good. Someone who PvP's a lot with these classes can quite easily facetank heal 1 character when they control the alpha. With some movement they can outheal 2. They really do have a powerful healing build. This makes my sorc very jealous.... I wouldnt say I want it nerfed however. I would rather be brought into line with my sorc. In my experience it is never nerfs that balance games generously. It is buffs.
  4. YES ! For that spec you want at least a 500w. AT LEAST !
  5. Use SWTOR Unleashed. It works wonders for fleet. I found that the problem with stuttering is caused by loading in game FX on the fly when they should be in RAM for best performance. This can only be acheived with SWTOR:Unleashed. Try it.
  6. After a long haitus (over a year) I came back to find the value of items still similar in respect to the amount of credits you can make. Of course daily/weekly mission money and time spent has increased but the inflated value still seems amazingly balanced. Take a game like Diablo 3 for example (apples and pears I know) but the inflation in that game was beyond ridiculous thanks to bugs and glitches that the bots and gold farmers used to collect currency. So much so that it ruined the economy in a very short time. In respect to SWTOR this currency seems very strong in it's variably static nature. Slight increases through the course of time but with appropriate sinks it has done very well for such a game type.
  7. I decided to use this as I was having trouble healing in 16 man hardmode DP (not too much trouble but i was on less than 10 fps so I was always behind on healing). I have a 5 year old pc with dual core 2.6ghz intel, 8gb of shiny ram, radeon 48xxHD. It's not the best pc (for this game but others run fine, especially with unreal engine which is what I built it for) so I don't expect much in certain MMO situations. So I loaded up a 4.5gb ramdrive with the basics and FX. It improved my fps slightly but the real benefit comes with the reduction of stuttering from loading assets. It helps a LOT !. I notice character models load a lot faster, if not instantly. What I would really like to know now however, as I have some room left for the ramdrive, is which asset file contains the Oricon data? I would really like to load up faster after a wipe. Anyone know?

    2.7 Changes Are Awful

The healing output is great in PvE but it really sucks in PvP except for a quality positioned and timed aoe heal. Expertise is really lacking in giving sorc healers the boost they need to stay alive. Here is an example. If a class goes 1v1 vs a sorc healer and doesn't use any stuns/knockbacks/interrupts then the sorc still cannot outheal the damage coming at them (in a standstill fight). So the sorc has to run/move to reduce the damage output. The on-the-run healing is poor for sorc (as compered to operative). It is nice we get an interrupt free innervate in 2.7 but it's not going to save us. In the time it takes to stand and channel innervate without pushback we can take more damage than it heals. So stopping to heal as a sorc is deadly. Now lets add interrupts/stuns/knockbacks. A sorc healer has no chance but to try escape. The problem is there are too many ways to stop a sorc running away even with talents. To sum it up... Sorcs are only effective at range, with no attackers. PvP gear is making no difference. I believe force-healer pvp gear should give a bonus to expertise healing value. It should be on force-healer gear alone because obviously other healers can wear better armour grade and have more mobility. With all this said... the new changes seem positive for sorc pvp healers but when some alphas can take 75% hp from a 30k+ sorc in full expertise there is something majorly wrong. I spend more time being angry in pvp on my sorc than on my operative. Why? Because my sorc is way better geared and lasts 1/3 of the time in a fight even with a 10 seconds immunity bubble. So much so that I have practically retired my sorc and only play it when I have no raiding to go to. Also please bring in NiM Flashpoints. Thanks
  9. I want to see a wormhole discovered when a transporter from Belsavis goes horribly wrong, transporting a young padawan to the current day Earth. Once there he is taken in by a family who teach him not to take the car for a spin, not to swing blindly at the lightbulb with a pinata stick, to dress "hip", to be normalised as a human being whilst taking on the bullies at school and winning the hand of his 10 year old prom date. Wait.... I am still under Disney NDA for the new movie. Ignore all this.
  10. A healer doing dps is a sign of the FP being too easy or he is doing his job with heals well enough to know when he can DPS or the tank is geared enough not to be taking dangerous damage ... so the ultimate answer is NO
  11. yep my bad I was checking with window minimised. Just edited my post to confirm it does multicore
  12. This game doesn't use more than one core of my CPU. As my cpu is fairly old (dual core 2.8ghz) I really need the dual core aspect. I have 8gb of ram which is more than enough for what it uses without SWTOR:Unleashed. However I have been considering using that. The thing is... if it isn't using dual cores then Unleashed wont do me any good as that mostly dumps files into virtual ramdrives. This has got me pondering now and I will investigate this further as surely no game should be limited to a single core these days. Even an old engine like hero engine should be updated. [edit: It seems it does use more than one core but only when in fullscreen. When minimised it reverts to single core load. It top ends at 85% which is nice to leave some for other apps. This is with lowest graphics settings. I bump the graphics upto full and the cpu stays the same, the system ram stays the same. The throughput to gpu will be my bottleneck there with a HD 48xx. The only time it gives me any greif is 16man raids of course. Everything else is fine]
  13. Funny thread. The best thing now is if you take Treek you should be able to solo Kuat or two man if that's not allowed.
  14. I hope you raided her that night. Let us know if anything drops.
  15. Play as a Sorc healer then you can't win a 1v1 vs anyone but at least you have an excuse.
  16. dont blame the devs. The hero engine is crap.
  17. According to your reply I don't have it wrong. I have it exactly right. They are whining. If you want gear on your char in ANY other mmo you have to go raid on that character. Thanks to the legacy gear they get to raid on a main char and gear out their noobie alts easily. In fact you could raid a full set of gear before you even rolled a new char. That is called a LUXURY my friend. How about this? Biowar remove the ability to move mods around in legacy gear. Then there is no complaint. You simply raid on the char that is MEANT to GRIND the gear. This is just a quality of life whine. Next....
  18. Why do you never catch somebody in a holocall that is doing a giant steaming log on the toilet?
  19. I cant understand why anyone would change the look of their characters so frequently. Before I spent the wad of cash on augments I checked out tor-fashion to see what I wanted. being a Sith Sorcerer on my main I went for a hooded approach but I didn't want to look like every other hooded character so I picked one that I hadn't seen around much. I looked in my bank for some nice legs/wrists/belt and settled on a nice even look. Now why would I want to change that? It isn't like there is a breathtaking new set of armour every week. There just isnt plain and simple. I think this is just a quality of life issue that is more of a whine than anything. What is wrong with the collections system or buying armor on the character you want to use it on? A wardrobe might be nice but it would take away revenue and I would prefer that not to happen lest we see the game not making enough money to sustain. So stop trying to use the game like a wardrobe and start planning your gear. Otherwise pay the price. If I was in te business of taking mods out of armour for you I would also charge you a fortune for being so picky and keeping me stitching up mods every day for no reason other than vanity.
  20. I was a founder. I played until I was fully geared and cleared the operations (which took about two months). Then I left and didn't come back until mid-december for the GSF expansion. When I looked at my bookmarks to get re-aquainted guess which sites I had in the list. Dulfy & swtor-spy. I remember darth-hater but I never rated it. Dulfy always had the information I wanted and needed and swtor-spy always had the database info I needed. As for Darth-hater... anything that goes the way of Curse is basically an advert that has no soul as a website so I dont use it. As a web developer of 15 years I can say a websites soul means a lot to me. I do wish firefox would render Dulfy better though. It can be slow as a siphillated p*ss at times. But it is still the best. Thanks Dulfy !!
  21. +1 for hardcore mode with permadeath. As much as I love this game I would certainly enjoy the challenge of a permadeath mode.
  22. :: SORC PVP HEALING :: Sorc needs the healing in PvP to balance out with the damage. Pre-rothc I pvp'd a lot and when I was 1v1 against someone I could almost heal forever. It took them some skill to use cooldowns/stuns/interrupts to take me out otherwise I was healing for a good couple of minutes. Now I find that lacking in pvp. The expertise is raising added damage in excess of 50% whilst the healing remains standard. It doesn't feel right. Now I am not complaining about not being able to kill anyone as a healer. I don't think that should happen. I do think when you see the damage numbers it consists of 10k sweeps, 9k crits, 6k hits, 3k glancing. These all come in a steady stream that is FASTER than the healing rate of a conquerer equipped sorc. The hits themselves add up to a large chunk of health but combined with interrupts and stuns they make it almost impossible to take any aggro as a healer. I am also fine with that but I still feel the healing is sub-par with the damage flying around. :: SORC PVP FORCE BARRIER :: Give a talent to sorcs where this heals 10% of health each second. it adds to the meta game of this skill a great deal. Do you cut it short to assist healing? Do you take the full 100% to last a bit longer as focus of pvp dmg? It is a nice skill, used in other mmo's successfully but waiting to die for 10 seconds isn't great for morale.
  23. This is my point exactly. The best benefit of getting pvp gear is for getting some raidable gear before you get into raids. I simply feel the pvp'ers need to get more of an advantage over non-pvp'ers. Otherwise the logic fails. However on the flip I see that Bioware want non-pvp'ers to play pvp also otherwise it lowers the numbers playing in warzones and that isn't good for anyone. I think the best tradeoff here would be a larger scale of expertise benefit on gear or a reduction in bolstered expertise.
  24. Enjoy performing the same routines on the same static mobs doing the same moves at the same times. You must be proud Me? I'll do both because I have the skills to deal with realtime decision changes and faceroll storymode content. So, as they say on the dark side, blow it out of your airlock
