  1. I know this is probably beating a dead horse but can we get some form of large scale PvP? I've been around since launch and the terribleness of Ilum has showed me that this game simply can't handle large scale PvP in a conventional way. I was thinking though, why not do it in an unconventional way?

This game already has issues identifying with a specific genre of game so I figure why not throw some aspects from other genres as well. Couldn't possibly hurt. I take this straight from Battlefield.

Its pretty simple, have two instanced groups of lets say Civil War (4 teams total), with a larger map of course specifically designed for this. There will be two "Commanders" that each control 2 of the teams. The Commander is not an actual player themselves but a person that can jump between instanced battles and use things like artillery, buffs, minor heals, etc etc. The Commanders job is to guide their teams with things like what points to cap, marking other teams healers etc etc.

I know this is very reliant on a single person but this is more for the hardcore PvPers than the casuals. Anybody that hates losing should find that motivation enough to do well as Commander.

Overall at the end of the match each Commander has their teams scores added up. Whichever Commander has the most points at the end their two teams win.

This is just a broad idea I had while questing lol. I know it could really really use some refinement but this idea is about 15 minutes old and I'm really just trying to get the discussion of trying large scale PvP in an unconventional way going. Any ideas or tweaks would be very nice.

  2. I fully expect it to be, its how they designed the Super Secret Space Project why would housing be any different? In addition to direct purchases from the cartel store itself, this gives them the opportunity to add a whole new collection of items to the cartel packs themselves.

For 'technical reasons' I also don't expect to see any real integration into the gameworld itself beyond a terminal or elevator door we click on the reach said apartment. We're not building houses out in the world here.

Everything else in this game is instanced. Why would player housing OF ALL THINGS be any different? I'm happy about this but sad at the same time. Happy because yay player housing. Sad because I feel like this is one of those things your gonna have to spend CC for EVERYTHING. Not to mention lets say they do charge for everything and people love player housing (very likely). Well then that's just gonna give em more reason to develop purely cosmetic things such as this as opposed to things like new pvp maps, new ops etc etc.

  3. I would like it if they made a giant planet full of rare end game resources and world bosses .As a lot of games are starting to do siege style pvp on a large map, star wars provides the perfect back story in the Empire strikes back Pubs in their snow speeders taking down At Ats pvp on the ground for base siege style battling . Control gives a buff too the whole fleet whether it be exp or stat buff for example. And a flashpoint only available too the side that has control. And put a massive cantina full of mini games and social activities make it neutral with the ability duel with out weapons especially since we already have bare fist fighting abilities maybe an arena where we can fight our companion and bet for credits . And finally player payed bounties with risk and reward for the hunter and the hunted all of this could work on a big enough planet. I know this is rough but I feel this is a good template to run off of. On a side note player housing could be implemented and maybe the ability to fly our star fighters in for docking on this planet.

All of these things would be amazing. Sadly none of them would be possible with the exception of player housing which I could see being implemented through instanced areas considering everything else about this game is instanced. The PvP designs will never happen though simply because they are not possible on this game engine. Ever wonder why PvP is 8v8? Try anything remotely close to what your proposing for PvP it'll just make the game into a slideshow. No matter how good your specs are.

  4. I can run all settings on maximum and get 60-110 fps depending on where I am (including the fleet). I usually scale maximum visible characters to medium and sometimes shadows from high to low (unless mid is an option, the next one down) but that is just my preference, not a requirement to run at max.

You can get max settings spending under $700, maybe less if you get my components cheaper. The people that say you need to spend $2000-4000 are nuts! :)

    I have:

    i7 2600k processor

    8 gigs ram

    gtx465 video card

    Win7 64-bit

    1680x1050 res

Nothing fancy. I attribute the bulk of my FPS and loading speed to my i7. Best investment in a long time.

You run it at max settings because your monitor is crappy. Get a better monitor and run it on max settings. Tell me how it runs then.

  5. Hey guys

After taking a break for a few months I got back to the game.

But like in the old days the ones with the most damage output gets the most MVP votes.

    What's your opinion about this?

I find it quite stupid actually. I'm playing as deception and every game I have +50k protection and around 150k dmg. Why shouldn't I get a MVP?

    Sha'Yan

Get over yourself. What makes you think that your more important than the guy putting out insane damage? MVP is a joke anyways. I literally randomly vote for MVP every Warzone because that's how unimportant it is. You just like getting MVP votes because it strokes your ego.

  6. There are hundreds of these on the PvP forums

Yes Resolve is broken, also some skills are broken (stun bubbles not applying resolve for a 3 sec stun).

If there are hundreds of these on the forums then how the hell is it not fixed?

  7. I've been playing Warzones quite frequently lately and the main problem I have with PvP in this game is resolve. There is almost no point to resolve. You can pretty much get stunned 5 or 6 times before Resolve actually does anything but by that time you're dead. Resolve would be great if it was properly implemented but at the games current PvP state its literally nothing but stunfests. Like honestly, I spend probably half of the match stunned. I know that's hyperbole but it certainly feels like it. What do you guys think?
  8. I've been playiing SWTOR since the launch week and I have yet to get a single level 50. Now, I did have a 4 month break or so inbetween that but still. This game needs to implement a barbershop so badly. I would just get so bored of how my character would look and delete him when he was at level 44. Am I a bad SWTOR player?
  9. So, if SWTOR never got below 500k subs, the point they originally set their measuring stick, why the hell did EA did such a mess with the SWTOR team? Layoffs, restrictions in the budget, etc?

If the game was, although not the new king of MMOs, a financial success, why take those measures that so strongly resemble "milk-the-cash-cow-dry-and-run"?

    Anyone has any idea?

It's all a lie that's why. There is a reason they don't release subscription numbers anymore, because its well below 500k. If subscription numbers were over 500k they would have absolutely no reason not to release them. Since they are well below 500k they have to hide it from the community to make sure that more mass panic and subscriber loss doesn't happen. If I had to guess how many subscribers there are still left I would say roughly 200-250k.

  10. 350,000 subs is what I would say. Let's be clear. If every subscriber pays $15 a month, that's still like $60m a year, not counting income from the cartel shop/expansions.

Think about it. If a game was in development for 5 years at a studio that was costing 60m a year, that's $300m. EA can still make considerable profit from this game, if it actually tries.

No. Lets assume your numbers are correct. You're excluding things like employees (which EA has been trying to cut down on because they are eating a substantial amount of the little profit this game makes), server costs, licensing costs, etc etc. In reality they aren't making nearly 60 million a year.

  11. One time in Huttball I managed to knock the entire team into that green acid crap and they all died. It was pretty cool but somehow we didn't score.... The guy that had the Huttball had no idea where to go.
  12. The devs are not only working to add content that you alone like. Every once in a while there will be something add that makes no difference to you but does to others. Like for me when TFB was added I don't do end game PvE at all so that update was pretty much worthless to me but it made other players happy. I don't really care if SGR's are in the game but other people want them so I say go for it.

Yea because SGRs and adding a new endgame raid is completely comparable. Its not even close. The fact of the matter is that very very few people actually make a big deal about there being no SGR. Lets get things done like fixing bugs and adding new content in general before we spend hours of coding just to have the exact same romance lines said to our same gender character.

Also, SWTOR: Pay for Gay 2013. Should be their campaign slogan like the guy said before lol

  13. Seriously, its beyond annoying and either Bioware doesn't give a damn or I have the worst luck in history. Every single patch since 1.4 has broken this game in some way shape or form for me. No joke. 1.4 it broke shadows for me, 1.5 broke my companions and now this latest patch broke the launcher. It takes anywhere from 10-20 minutes for SWTOR to pull up now. How the hell does one game break so frequently? It's like you literally don't even bother to test the game at all because these are some serious bugs. In terms of testing and fixing bugs this is by far the worst MMO I've ever played when it comes to that. Please Bioware, just do your jobs.
  14. Working as intended.

This was how it was after launch, and was soon patched. I dont know what the problem is, but I would play around with some setting some more.

I've played around with every setting a thousand times. The only thing I can think that would even be a possibility is that since my monitor is only 1600x900 then its doing it but even then I'm still highly skeptical.

  15. Not to sound like a crazy person, but has anyone noticed that males can romance pretty much any female alien yet females can't romance anyone except Jorgan?

I mean being unable to romance Broon or Blizz is understandable, but why no Gault, or Zenith (as I've heard but am not sure on this one), or Rusk, or Scourge? Gault sure as hell seems more human-like than that Togruta, Ashara, yet he's off limits? And most of all, female Twi'lek Vette is romanceable yet male Twi'lek Zenith is not.

Which is strange, because [minus Jorgan] you can't play as a human female and romance alien men, you can play as an alien man and romance a human female. And conversely, you can play as an alien male and romance an alien female, but you can't play as an alien female and romance a male alien.

Is it just me or does this kind of feel like a double standard? Do you guys think what I've said has any truth to it, or do you think I'm just looking into things too much?

    Who cares.

  16. Have you tried using the repair function on your launcher???

Also I seemed to get it when I had shadows on high, but turned it off and seems to fix it.

Yes, I have used the repair function multiple times. 1.4 really messed up this game. Never had an issue before 1.4 but ever since it hit the games been awful.
