  1. But this is what I'm saying. I shouldn't be forced to do a raid to get it. I don't want to raid, and even if I did not only would it be hard to find or make a group that would accept me, but I would likely hold them back. The fact remains though that I have no desire to do it. Consider if this was only available through completing WZ dailies or some form of PvP that could be considered effort and time consuming. I guarantee a large portion of the player base would complain. I don't see how this is any different. Whether the percentage of exclusive PvErs is greater than exclusive PvPers, or the number of players in between who are willing to play both forms of content and enjoy them is a large portion of the player base, the fact of the matter is that PvP, like it or not, is a big part of any MMO. I don't care what anyone's opinions are on whether it's balanced, whether it's a minigame, or whether you care. Since the developers are obligated to cater to both PvE and PvP respectively in terms of content, I feel that the rewards should not outweigh one another. For example, you should not be able to get PvP gear through PvE, and vice versa. PvP gear benefits PvP more than PvE gear does, and vice versa. Nightmare mode raids can drop mounts, and high valor and commendations can buy you mounts. If you can get a required material for a universal Crew Skill through only one form of content, it isn't a good marketing ploy to force your consumers to trudge through content they do not enjoy. After all, they are paying for the content. You can never make everyone happy, but I think it is an acceptable argument that PvP and PvE deserve equal value rewards, whether it be through gear or crafting materials, in one way or another, since those two concepts largely define the basis behind MMO gaming.
  2. Again, how is this being lazy? I'm not trying to argue the fine points of PvE vs PvP, I don't want to make anyone upset because PvE is their preferred form of play, but to say that performing well in PvP is being "lazier" than doing a mindnumbing time sink of a Heroic which even non-avid PvEers say is easy is a really ignorant statement. I just don't want to dedicate the time to PvE when I don't have the spec for it, the gear for it, and simply do not enjoy it.
  3. This is my point. They can remain BoP if there is a more PvP oriented way of earning them. Or alternatively, remove the BoP so they can be sold/traded, but that isn't the only necessary option which may make my thread title a bit misleading.
  4. Forcing someone to run heroics for even a chance of getting one to make Rakata reusables, and then having to get 2 more if you want the "set", is absurd. Either make it not BoP so I can buy them, or make a way to obtain it via PvP. I'm not looking to hear if any diehard carebear tells me that my idea is bad for x reason, because it doesn't pertain to you and you should have no say in it. I'm also not looking to hear "TOR is a story driven PvE game with a PvP minigame" because I don't care and it doesn't matter how you play the game, it matters at least in the business sense that Bioware can accommodate the 2 biggest customers who the game is advertised for, PvEers and PvPers. There is no reason to limit it to PvE because frankly you should realize not everyone wants to PvE. And don't tell me that whether you agree it should be more available I should do it anyway. I'm not sinking time without a guarantee of getting one, having to form a group and run through the instance in PvP gear and a PvP spec. I've had a plethora of complaints about the game but I'm not one to cry about things or ragequit, clearly I am still playing. In spite of the fact that my AoE stun doesn't function, all my gear is stacked with useless accuracy, and Surge got nerfed, I still can enjoy the game. But adding on top the fact that neckbeards who can and want to devote enough time for and enjoy PvE on top of PvP should get a boost in PvP simply because they can get a use out of their Crew Skill, which should inherently be usable by anyone who has it maxed, is downright terrible.
  5. I'm all for rewarding skill/dedication but all you are doing is making the gap between low and high rank players even bigger, and worse so because a majority of high valor rank players are bads with too much time and/or kill trading in Ilum.
  6. Currently I'm using Iron Fist, or whatever nickname people are giving it right now, 25/14/2 with focus on Rocket Punch and Jet Charge. I also used to play Advanced Prototype quite a bit, despite its complete lack in strength compared to Pyrotech and other builds. Any build that focuses on Shield Tech and/or Advanced Prototype is essentially melee only, as I've been using. Pyrotech, as I've said, as a few more ranged capabilities, but that does not make it a ranged class. All they gain is Incendiary Missile, used very sparingly due to its high heat cost and only as an opener dot for Rail Shot, and Thermal Detonator which shares a cooldown with Explosive Dart. I'm not arguing that it isn't somewhat of a hybrid class, it has SOME ranged, but it is so much more emphasized on melee combat that it really is just a melee class with some ranged attacks. However, while it can open up at range, no Powertech can sustain a fight at range.
  7. Just because we HAVE an ability doesn't make us a ranged class. Death From Above is an attack on a 1 minute cooldown, which hardly constitutes an argument for "ranged class". Take a look at Missile Blast. I'll use my tooltips for reference, since I'm in mostly champion gear. Missile Blast deals 950-959 damage to a single target and 129-135 to up to 3 additional enemies for 25 heat cost. The aoe is so insignificant that you may as well think of it as 950-959 damage single target for 25 heat. Now look at Rapid Shots. 611-838 damage single target for 0 heat. The gap is wider in damage, but you can't even argue that Rapid Shots would make Powertechs a ranged class-- it's just a filler auto attack to reduce heat when necessary, if ever. Missile Blast does a paltry 230 damage difference while maintaining kinetic damage, which is mitigated, at the cost of 25 heat. Meanwhile, attacks such as Flame Burst can be used within 10m, essentially as melee attacks. Mine does 898-970 in elemental damage, which can't be mitigated, for 16 heat. Rail Shot is the only attack you've said that is even arguable to be a full-fledged good "ranged attack", and it is on a 15 second cooldown and only procs when the target is incapacitated or dotted. Thus, it can't be considered part of any meaningful ranged rotation. Unload may as well be a Mercenary exclusive ability, as I said Powertechs will not and should not use it. It completely contradicts the mobile playstyle, and offers nothing to the class. In fact, using it only slows our progress to close a gap with a ranged class, and is more of a liability than anything. Sorry, you're just completely wrong. Quit while you're ahead.
  8. It does matter if I use it as a finisher, because if you expect to perform even on par, using Missile Blast as part of a regular rotation is literally the worst thing you could do. If you've even played the class once you would take back everything you've said. You can make a couple attacks at range, for example I can throw an Explosive Dart on and Rail Shot if they are dotted, but otherwise I'm stuck spamming an autoattack which does little to nothing. I don't play Pyrotech, so I can't use Incendiary Missile, nor gain the effect of Superheated Gas because I don't even use CGC. And if you take those out, you leave a 15 second cooldown delayed explosion, a CHANCE that you can use Rail Shot (also on a 15 second cooldown), and autoattacks, which is the least impressive rotation I've seen out of any class with ranged capabilities. Even if Pyrotechs have more ranged capabilities, to say they are a ranged class is still absurd, and to generalize all Powertechs as Pyrotechs is also ignorant and dumb. tl;dr Powertech is a melee class with a few ranged capabilities.
  9. While Powertech is a hybrid class to an extent, you clearly have no idea what you're talking about. Missile Blast is exclusively a finisher at ranged, most people don't even play with it on their hotbar due to its high heat cost. Unload is never used by any respectable Powertech. Incendiary Missile is only in the Pyrotech tree. Sonic Missile doesn't deal damage, it just reduces damage to your teammates. Same with Neural Dart. Explosive Dart and Thermal Detonator count as the same attack since they share a cooldown. Rail Shot is one of the few attacks which can exclusively be considered a significant "ranged attack". Jet Charge is exclusive to Shieldtech tree, and is a gap closer, not a "ranged attack". Same as Grapple, although all 3 specs have access to it. Death from Above is an AOE, yes it has ranged capabilities but that doesn't really add to the idea that Powertech is formidable at range since it's on a long CD. The last 2 are just slows, which again act as gap closers. In short, you mentioned 2 ranged attacks (Rail Shot and Explosive Dart) which can even be considered widely used. While Powertech is a melee/ranged hybrid, you clearly have little idea of what you're trying to argue if you think Powertechs stand a chance at range. Pyrotechs perform at range better than ST or AP, but even then its capabilities are limited compared to other ranged classes. Furthermore, half the things you listed are gap closers, which are meant to assist at getting a class in melee range- that's like calling a warrior in WOW a ranged class because it has charge, intercept, heroic leap, and hamstring (gap closers/slows) and because it has heroic throw (ranged).
  10. Sounds like a great idea to implement, anything really over current Ilum. My only discrepancy is the 500 credit cost for RPGs. Sure, it doesn't sound like much, but it will add up. If a walker can sustain 10 hits, that's 5000 credits worth of RPGs. And spread across different players, that still isn't a lot. But if you buy in large quantities, it just seems like you shouldn't have to. Some players don't have the time to farm credits/warzones/do dailies or have any consistent stream of decent credits, and it could add up over time. It could also discourage said players from picking up RPGs in the first place, or lazy players thinking that they shouldn't have to waste credits if someone else can just destroy the walker instead (it is, after all, large scale world pvp). Now I feel this is a minor issue, it certainly isn't a lot of money as I said, it's just that even the minimal cost as it is seems unnecessary. I would recommend something along the lines of free RPGs you can pick up at the base, but only hold a certain amount at a time.
  11. This should be getting a lot more attention, I sincerely hope that it can get fixed as soon as possible. After obtaining the set bonus from the gear and it stopped working, this is just frustrating. Carbonize is an integral part of how I play, it may just be one ability but going from using it every CD to it being broken sucks. I don't want to be forced to not have a set bonus or get gear from a different set just because of a fault in the game.
  12. The next highest person had 165k (including your side, the opposing team had 168k) which is not 1/3 of 302k. Plus your team had 2 strong healers with other teammates with still significant 50k or so healing.
  13. The epic reusables for Biochem require a BoP from Heroic Flashpoints. I strictly PvP and could not give two ****s about Flashpoints. Fix nao.
  14. Yeah, good argument. "One of the most OP classes" One of the most implies that it is a top contender. Not including sub-classes, since Bounty Hunter encompasses both Merc and PT, "one of the most OP classes" is right up there with Inquisitor and Agent I guess. So 3/4 of the classes are OP, makes sense. Everyone argues that every class is OP for a different reason, some like the Operative combo which is getting nerfed make sense, pretty much everything else does not. And even though Mercs are arguably "skill-less" because of their one button spam, neither Mercs nor PTs are close to overpowered. I'm indifferent on whether they decide to do something with jetpacks, but that was just an absurdly dumb comment.
  15. I don't know if it's been said, but Ortolans. I would pay money to play one because there's nothing cooler than playing as a *********** blue elephant.
