  1. The only issue I see here is that not all servers have a republic/empire imbalance in favor of the empire. So it would have to be something that makes the underpowered side want to do X objective.

But then once that underpowered side surpasses the once overpowered side, they lose the benefits. And how is that fair to someone who's been putting/has put in hours to level another character solely for a bonus?

It's harder than you think, tbh.

  2. How, I might ask, would these harm the casual player? If these seem like loaded examples, I'd like to see someone present a case in which a request that's common with hardcore players harms the casual base?

(the animations problem is one thing that I actually really care about. My control/utility abilities don't go off until like, forever. I can really feel it in PVP.)

Gonna do my best to keep away the flamebats.

Good example I always love: damage meters.

It's great to be able to parse your data and figure out what you need improvement in, right? Can't deny the benefits.

The problem lies in the rest of the community that then adopts the same strategy blindly, not actually understanding the purpose of damage meters. Instead of parsing data to figure out where you're lacking, it's used as a benchmark of who's bad and who's good based solely on damage output and not on actual skill performing (like a caster who runs around avoiding fires versus one that makes healers heal him so he can get that extra 200 dps).

    Does that make sense?

By the way, I'm not opposed to hardcore players or anything, I just think that when you ask for something, ask also "how could this be misconstrued by someone who doesn't understand it?"

  3. i hate how everyone is comparing star wars the old republic to world of warcraft.

    they are completely different games.

star wars the old republic has laser swords

world of warcraft does not have laser swords

please stop trying to compare star wars the old republic to world of warcraft, they are completely different games.

    +1

    need 5 characters

  4. Not sure if this has been talked about before, most likely, and if a moderator as said something on it.

I made a mistake earlier trying to see the equip difference of a skin for a companion. I'm level 14 and don't have a whole lot of money to waste on things like this and they do cost quite a bit. So I accidentally hit shift+right click instead of cntrl+left click or whatever it is to see and that right click bought the item. I QQ'd slightly until I figured hey I can get my money back.

    Wrong. :<

Out of the 12.5k credits I spent I got back 1.5k credits. Perhaps some form of sell/buy back timer for large purchases like this, this goes for credit purchases and commendation purchases too. Of even like 5 minutes would be greatly appreciated for us clumsy folks that sometimes click the wrong button.

I know I'm going to get flamed into oblivion by trolls and fanboys...so bring it on. Just thought this would be a simple quality of life improvement for a rather enjoyable game.

You'll probably get flamed, but thank you for at least being intelligent and making a rational post instead of "fuk dis game u kant get back money im unsubbing **** bioware"

    Sorry for your loss :(

  5. I have star wars running in the background right now but I just can't get away. the ignorance and the mentallity of some of these people is just..well it's quite entertaining. I almost feel like I am getting my 15 bucks worth from the forums alone.

Yeah i'm dual-screening colicoid right now and these forums for a laff

  6. Is this game ever going to get dual spec? I just respecced 4-5 times today 100k each switching from healer/dps to heal raids/dps for warzones because my guild has no other healers...just wondering if this game is every going to get dual spec or not.

Considering the cost resets every week, never.

  7. why? does your cable company only give you access to reality programs

    moron

clearly this analogy is too highbrow for you.

maybe I should dumb it down:

"why would you expect a refund for something you've already used and can't return?"

Game stores don't offer refunds on opened copies. You'd know that if your mother didn't try to return your games for you :(

  8. SWTOR is half finished. Selling anything half finish at full price is bad ethics and showing how greed and disrespect you are as company towards your customers.

It be half finished softwares, video games, food, clothes, car, houses, TV etc.

SWTOR should have been sold half price with a warning stating: Half done

"I have never played an MMO from launch and don't know what a game is like when it launches"

    -tl;dr

  9. seems perfectly reasonable to me

he played the first month didnt like it, and wants a refund.

Noone knew how Bioware would have turned out.

not like he joined late when there would have been ample time to research the game.

Well **** if that's how it works I'm gonna call my cable company and ask to not be billed for the first half of this month because I didn't like reality programming.

  10. Where do you folks come up with this nonsense? Where do you pull the age of 15 from? Is this a Rated R game or something? This game is rated "Credit Card". I am thinking that you guys who think the game is fine, you probably have not had extensive MMO experience or have been in a serious raiding guild or have been a serious Pvper.

Playing 1 single MMO at any length gives you zero experience.

I have a fantastic computer and I am having issues here and there, invisible walls...so many to name (read the forums). Just because "you" don't have issues, that does not mean other dont. I am so sick of people saying this was a great launch....lmao really? Tolion rocked it, read what he wrote, we are on the same page 110%.

Your invisible walls are due to lag. I had the same problem when I visited my parents and their terrible 56k internet connection left me running into walls on the fleet the whole time.

  11. Yes it would and I don't think I'm really asking that much here. If I can pay 30 dollars for a game and have it work in an overlay that is convenient for me, I don't think it's much to ask for it to work for a different game that is twice as much with a monthly fee on top.

You can import the game to steam.....

  12. Can this game get some Steam support? I've had a feeling that it not working in Steam is a cheap marketing tactic for Origin, but I am not sure on that, it could just be my computer. If that's the case could someone please explain how I can get it to work in Steam? If not then can this game get some recoding to work on Steam? This is one of the biggest turnoffs for me really when I play is that I can't chat all my friends and have to alt tab back into the game to a loading screen that REALLY shouldn't even be coming up since I am already LOADED.

You must not know about steam integration.

  13. 1. This is the first time in my life that I've seen the game get worse with every single patch. Stress test beta was much more playable than version 1.1.

Because the stress tests/beta weren't only designed for decent hardware and not for everyday run of the mill minimum requirements, give me a break.

    2. This is also the first time I've seen bugs being "fixed" in patch notes, but completely untouched in the actual game.

No issues here, and also force push resets force charge, so they aren't lying in the patch notes

    3. Launcher that corrupts game files.

your launcher is bad, because if it was a server-side problem (i.e. Bioware) no one could log on. It's not Bioware's fault, otherwise everyone would have problems. The problem is you.

    zzzzzzz

  14. Let me clarify. NO I don't mean a queue on when you hit your spells. I will do a direct comparison here to WoW for a second. In WoW I can hit a spell, about .5 seconds before the spell is done casting I can "queue" up another spell. In SW:TOR that is not the case I can not hit Force Story and when its .5 away from finishing queue up Thundering Blast. There is a DIRECT DELAY on when you hit the spell and when it casts. I can hit Thundering blast and inherently if I didn't turn the delay option off then .5 seconds after I hit the button to cast that Thundering Blast it will start casting.

As far as I know there is no way to queue up a spell in this game, if there was then it would make everything alot easier for every one. I was talking about if your first spell is say Tracer Missile and .5 seconds after you hit the button for the spell it started casting vs instantly casting.

Ability delay is in your head and in your preferences bar.

  15. SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Shares of Electronic Arts Inc. fell nearly 3% to $17.75 on Thursday morning after an analyst with Brean Murray Carret & Co. cut his price target on the stock to $22 from $28, citing concerns about the recently released online multi-player game "Star Wars: The Old Republic." In a note to clients, analyst Todd Mitchell wrote that "creeping concerns" about the performance of "Star Wars" -- which was released in late December -- is causing him to trim his earnings estimates for the 2013 fiscal year. "Specifically, initial sales appear to be below expectations, and casual observation of early play is causing us to rethink our churn assumptions," Mitchell wrote.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

    Borrowed from http://www.marketwatch.com/story/ea-falls-on-broker-concerns-about-star-wars-2012-01-19?link=MW_home_latest_news

Yeah man I heard stockbrokers are really reliable they rated so many of those mortgage-backed securities as AAA so I'd totally trust their opinions every time.

    Thanks for the post!

  16. Because now it is all clear to me.

SWTOR is the single most gilded game I've ever bought. It opened my eyes. It used every trick in the book to make me think that this garbage was gold and I fell for it.

It's been on a downward spiral for a while now. Every change made has contributed to this being another World of Warcraft clone. And I am convinced SWTOR will single handedly kill the subscription model of payment.

EA needs to learn to stop trying to copy success so much. Battlefield was just EA trying to have their own COD, Origin was EA trying to have their own steam.

And now BioWare is EA trying to have their own Blizzard. It's embarrassing and a horrible tarnish on the records of the good people who work at BioWare.

They need to realize that they're just puppets. They're no longer being used to make good games, they're now a marketing ploy. The game has clear evidence of good ideas getting snubbed in favor of EA trying to make it more World of Warcraft.

I have now become another jaded gamer. Thanks EA. :(

Can I have your stuff when you leave because you're obviously too busy on that cross up there.

  17. Every glaringly broken portion of this game (too many to list, threads everywhere) was mentioned in beta. And alpha too, I'm sure. They tried faking a fix on the ability lag, but as we all see, it's worse than it was before lol.

Some random developer named James Oldson telling us "we listen to the community" doesn't make it so. Actions speak louder than words.

The reason a bug like ability lag is unable to be fixed is because they chose to build this game around an archaic, ancient, crappy engine. It will never be fixed, otherwise it wouldn't have been released like this. BioWare knows the product they put out. They at least must have put some playtime and testing into their own game, right?

Intelligent thoughts and discussion only please. Even without trolling I fully expect this thread to get closed, but we have to remind them.. we will not accept a mediocre, bottom of the barrel, broken game.

Sounds like you need to unsub instead of paying to troll the forums all day.

  18. I was there for both the launch of Wrath and Cata, neither were anywhere near the catastrophe SWTOR is. Were there bugs? Yeah, there were some over-tuned heroics, and maybe a quest didn't work (i.e. Bears Up there) or some strange NPC spams general chat (The Ice Stone Is Melting!), but never anything like you walk into a raid with your guild and all of you randomly die to some invisible one-shotting mob over and over and over and over and over and over again, and then you die again on the speeder Taxi when you zone in. Nothing like trying to attack someone in PvP and having your toon get stuck in a bugged animation for 15 seconds while you watch at 6fps because you can't have more than 4 toons in any instance at a time without major server lag.

    >Talks about launch of Cata and Wrath being better than the launch of SWTOR

    >Was not there for the launch of vanilla which was exponentially worse than Cata and Wrath's launch combined

The servers didn't even go offline when TOR came out, that's way better than WoW's track record (and Frostwolf going offline for a month for "extended maintenance")

  19. "I am very patient and understand what risks a launch title carries and at some point in the future it becomes something I enjoy while I pay with my own money throughout the process, because I, unlike everyone else know what playing a game from launch means and am willing to put my money into the game to continue enjoying it."

Yeah man none of us have multiple accounts or anything that would be so wacky!

  20. Actually the functionality of transmogrify is already in the game in the way they have handled gear progression as it is.

To attack a poster for asking for a content addition that would add greater functionality to the game is poor form, sir.

The fact is: a dungeon finder makes the game more accessible to casual players. Casual players are the bread and butter of the mass market MMO. You may not like that, but it's the truth. To omit such a system when developing a mass market, casual centric MMO is a madness.

So wait the casual players are the "bread and butter" but a lot of casuals aren't even 50 yet.

So first you want bioware to listen to the 50 somethings (i.e. the people who rushed to 50) but now you want them to listen to the "casuals" (who may be 50, but a lot are not)

You should probably pick one before trying to form a doomsday argument, 0/10
