    OPEN WORLD PVP

    or

    MASSIVE SIEGE WARZONES

    This game is centered around a huge war between factions, and we hardly ever see any of it unless we can convince a horde of people to flag for PVP with us. If you add in either of these, I believe it will be a good addition to the already formidable roster of Warzone types, especially flavor-wise. Also, this game needed open-world PVP from the start, as well as incentives to cultivate an OWPVP population.

    * Take a look at the Battlefront games, maybe? Have nodes that players can capture, and then have spawn points that open up to that team as a result?

    * Reskinning existing Warzones is an easy way to add more variety in.

    Also, I've not done any research on the Bolster system, but it might be worth looking into peoples' criticisms on the subject; many of their arguments seem well thought out and researched.

  2. So far, I've really agreed with what everyone else has said, but just to reiterate:

    * Nexu

    * Reek

    * Kell Dragon

    * Kybuck

    * Acklay

    * Mini Walkers

    * MOAR THRONES

    * Force Levitation (Glowy light for the Jedi and Lightning for the Sith. Probably will use jetpack animations).

    Also Vornskrs.

  3. And yet there is still no response to the horrendous class imbalance from Bioware. We have baby fed this information to them, we have created countless threads on the subject, we have provided feedback and possible solutions at every available opportunity, and yet Bioware has yet to give us any assurance that they are working on the issue, or for that matter any response at all on the subject.

    This is our feedback: we ( including the various AC's that as a whole believe themselves to be under-powered) are tired of being face-rolled in PVP.

  4. Great information and I agree totally with what you and others have stated. However, truth be known, the Devs will not reply. Of all the ACs, these Devs have done nothing to improve the QoL for the Sage/Sorcerer. As stated previously, none of them play this class. They simply do not care. It was made apparent when they went live with 1.2 and more so now with the coming of 2.0. Their willful silence speaks volumes as proof positive they will not do anything to bring these two classes inline as DPS classes with the others.

    They willfully lied to us about giving us something to offset the loss of applying the bubble stun to other classes to improve viability and team support. They flat out lied. These developers cannot be trusted to do anything that will benefit these classes we have chosen to play. The only thing the did do was improve healing so either Sage/Sorcerer can be stronger in this area. DPS still languishes behind the other DPS classes. They nerfed our armor and other defensive capabilities (reduced absorption of our Force Armor/Static Barrier) among others. In my years of game developing I have never seen something as bad as I have seen from these specific developers. They are biased towards these two ACs plain and simple. Their actions or lack thereof in not addressing our concerns in any manner or doing anything to bring the DPS trees to the forefront as the glass cannons they are with the other classes and their nerfing of defensive capabilities is proof positive.

    I was under the impression that we had no defensive capability left to nerf, but I suppose I as mistaken.

  5. Don't.

    Sure, Sorcerer PVE is not bad, and there is a certain rush to blasting anything that dares enter your field of vision with lightning, but the class has crippling issues that makes PVP a nightmare.

    Minimal burst damage, weak DoTs, and extra-squishy armor will ensure that unless you are a rather skilled player, you are going to get your face melted by a lol-smasher who leaps at you from across the Warzone, roots you, and proceeds to beat the snot out of you while you feebly try to fend him/her off.

  6. Sorcerers should produce the highest damage potential in the game, period.

    Balance is a constant tension between two polar opposites:

    [survivability]---------------------[Netural]--------------------[Output]

    Survivability is defined as maximal Hit-Point Potential, Armor Rating, Mitigation, Defensive-Cooldowns, and Mobility. Output is defined as the ability to produce meaningful damage or healing that is both sufficient and necessary to kill or heal a target.

    In theory an Advanced-Class that excels at one end of this spectrum, to retain overall class balance, requires concomitant inferiority on the other end.

    Sorcerers suffer from the worst survivability in the game, and yet also suffer from perhaps the 2nd worst (Mercenaries/Commandos) Damage Output in the game.

    Either our defensive capabilities need to be brought in line with our Damage-Potential, allowing us to actually survive long enough for our DoT-damage to be effective or our Damage-Potential needs to increased.

    In this sense I would argue that Madness requires a mere 5% damage increase, ideally as front-loaded DoT damage. The spec's mobility and CC capabilities will otherwise allow it to survive.

    Lightning on the other hand suffers from nigh-complete immobility and cast-sensitive attacks, thereby requiring either a major defensive redesign or a more significant boost to damage.

    Yes, a high-level player who extracts the greatest potential from a Min/Maxed AC is going to be effective.

    Balance however is not a subject for the outliers, it is a matter for the median and mean values of a specification, and at the moment our AC suffers horribly in that regard.

    I applaud you, good sir.

  7. You, sir, are brilliant. I love all of these suggested changes; you have addressed all of the problems I have noticed in my painful days trying to scrape together some sort of dignity on the PVP field as a DPS Sorcerer.

    One thing I would like to see is a better life-stealing mechanic for Madness. If Bioware could buff up the life-stealing on abilities like Death Field and things like Parasitism, that would give Madness Sorcerers a self-heal that could sustain us longer against the lol-smashers.

    Disappointed at what I saw in the Bioware post on here. It's like they refuse to see that this class is broken and wish to nerf it even further into the ground. Yes, we understand class-balancing is a complicated task, but if you just acknowledge for us that something is terribly wrong with Sorcerers, we would rest easier and not be climbing your cage constantly.

  8. Oh, where do I begin?

    1. OVERALL DPS BUFF/ MORE SURVIVABILITY. I cannot express how irritating it is that my class as a whole seems broken because we are lagging behind in DPS (of course, good Sorc players know how to balance this, but it should not take the best of the best to do well in DPS) and we are the squishiest things that ever crawled out of a Hutt's....I digress. Either our damage should be increased quite a bit to make us true 'glass cannons' with very high offensive capabilities, or we need some serious defensive abilities so we could survive long enough to make our meager offense count. I'm not sure how to implement these changes, hence I didn't suggest anything, but I'm sure some genius number-cruncher could figure it out.

    2. Force Speed/Sprint/Whatever needs to make you immune to snares and stuns during its duration. Also, it needs to make yoou immune to the annoying "jump at you from across the Warzone and stun you while you are sprinting" move that one of the melee AC's have. Force Leap, I believe?

    3. Static Barrier needs a buff. It needs to absorb much more damage than it does now to be useful. I apply a bubble, stand away from the fray and fire off my DPS, a Melee sees me, Force Leap, bubble disintegrates, I get my face melted. 'Tis a vicious cycle.

    4. I think it would be cool if Madness had more life-stealing mechanics that you could spec into.The current ones steal a little health, but if there was a way to spec into large health-stealing abilities, I think it would give us a unique edge on the battlefield. Plus, depending on how much health these abilities steal, it could help solve Sorcerer over-squishiness.

    5. We need some 31-point love. I've not tinkered with Corruption, but I know Creeping Terror isn't much more than an extra Affliction with a semi-useless stun, and Thundering Blast seems just...bleh. 31-point abilities should reward a player for sacrificing so many spec points to that tree, and thus should be rather powerful (for all classes), and that is where I think the Sorc tree is lacking alot.

    6. Burst damage. My Sorc is a turret rooted to the ground pew-pewing...ermm, I mean, zap-zapping people from afar. That is all well and good, until a Guardian notices my antics and melts my face. If we could have more mobile abilities, our survivability would increase becuase we can hit people while running from Melee classes for dear life instead of feebling standing in one spot trying to spam Force Lightning before being beheaded.

  9. I stopped playing for about a month before 1.2 came out, just because my other responsibilites were eating up my time. Even as a level 20 Sorcerer, I could own any poor mortal that dared stand in my way. When I came back, I felt like my damage had been halved, and I was getting mauled by anything that targeted me.

    While I agree that the Sorcerer class needs a SERIOUS buff at this point (that, or all the other classes are nerfed), I don't think that it is a broken class. A level 50 Sorcerer is still a BAMF, and has the coolest looking abilities in the game, if not the coolest period.

    Adapt to your new surroundings, find the spec that works (there is one out there, that I am sure of), and give those Sentinels / Marauders a good whalloping.

  10. Most of us have seen the E3 video, and what caught my attention the most was the new level cap and incoming new abilities. As it stands now, I am getting a bit bored with my abilities as a Sorcerer, so some new abilities sound incredibly useful.

    My question to my fellow inquisitors is this: What abilities would you want to be implemented later in the year? What is your wishlist for oncoming expansions?

  11. I remember seeing this guy RP a hotshot pilot. And not just any hotshot pilot, but like the best pilot in the whole damn galaxy. No formal training, no real experience other then some joyriding back home, but he was able to hop into a turret and blast TIE Fighters with no problem, even though according to his backstory he'd never even SEEN such a weapon before. Then, again with no real experience with military hardware, he was able to hop into a top-of-the-line fighter and dogfight with trained pilots, no problem. To cap it all off, he blew up the Death Star.

    I thought that was all pretty ludicrous. . . until I saw someone RPing his dad. Had to top the first guy, so he essentially did all the same stuff, but at nine years old.

    Idiots.

    Sooo...George Lucas RP's on SWTOR? The horror!

    This took me a bit to figure out, but I laughed out loud when I realized the sarcasm. Great job.

  12. Just a few other tips I thought I would throw in here.

    When you create your character, it's good to not center his/her story around Bioware's class story. For example, it would be weird if every Sith Warrior in the guild was Darth Baras' apprentice. Also not every Inquisitor needs to start off as a slave in his background.

    There's also a term you might not be familiar with called meta-gaming. It's when you take knowledge OOC and putting it IC. So if your friend tells you he picked Jigglybob as his secret apprentice and your guy magically finds out without being told IC, that's meta-gaming.

    One more thing that comes to mind. Characters are ALWAYS more interesting when they have weaknesses. Maybe since your guy is an Inquisitor he isn't physically powerful. Maybe he has an allergy to banthas. Maybe he's awkward around women. If you make a super awesome Sith who scoffs at any sign of danger, can overpower any enemy, and instill dread in any Jedi, you're not interesting. This doesn't mean you have to make your character out to be a complete pansy though. This is just a way of giving your character his/her own unique personality.

    I hope these helped!

    Immensly. Thank you!

  13. are you in-game right now? I could roll a character and teach you.

    Yes, actually. I am a level 5 Pureblood Inquisitor.

    If you could do that, I would be extremely grateful

    Edit: Sorry, the name is Archonus. I don'tknow how I could've forgotten the most important part.

  14. In-Character: Speech or actions your character would perform.

    Out of Character: Speech or actions you would preform as a player. For example, characters are not expected to be aware that they inhabit a game, or know all the terms for game concepts, so any gameplay discussion would be OOC (as would be leetspeek).

    On RP servers, /say, /yell, and /emote (/me) are considered In-Character, at all times. General (/1) is considered Out of Character (OOC).

    Most players consider /whisper as IC, and if a party is formed in-character, /party may also be IC. /guild may or may not be IC depending on the guild's preferences.

    To say something OOC in an otherwise IC channel, surround your statement with (( )).

    /say (( hey I'm new to roleplay, could someone help me out here? ))

    Thank you very much. This is quite helpful.

  15. Recently, I have gotten bored of my PVE Sorcerer and have decided to make a new character. I have heard of the fantastic RP community in SWTOR, so I decided to roll a Sorcerer on a RP server (specifically Lord Adraas). Unfortunately, I have never RP'ed before and am looking forsome guidance from RP veterans.

    -How do you access RP chat, and how do you know when an RP is going on? Is there a specific command in the chatbar?

    -What are some of the best/most active RP guilds on Lord Adraas? I need someone to RP with if it's going to be any fun whatsoever. I am looking specifically for a master/apprentice relationship, with me serving my term as apprentice until I reach a level where I can take someone under my own wing. Any thoughts on where I should turn?

    -What are the rules/common guidelines for an RP server? I understand the concept of "god-moding" is a no-no, but is there anything else I need to know?

    Any feedback would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

  16. Species/Race: Sith Pureblood

    Name: Darth/Lord Archonus

    Middle Name: Unknown

    Last Name: Uknown

    Nickname: Has a variety of titles among the millitary, though none are used to his face for good reason. One of them is "the Shadow".

    Gender: Male

    Date of Birth: Unknown

    Place of Birth: Uknown

    Age: Apparent age is mid 30's

    Height: 6'7''

    Weight: IDK

    Hair Color/Style: Unknown

    Facial Appearance: Archonus's face is hidden by a fearsome mask akin to Darth Nihilus'; a pointed, skull-like visage that has never been seen under except by one person.

    Eye Color: Unknown

    Body Appearance: Archonus is very tall, but with a light build and a kind of sickly thinness. However, many have underestimated his combat prowess because of his thin frame and havenot lived to tell of it.

    Current Residence: Dormuund Kas

    Allegiance: The Empire, Himself

    Armor/Clothes: Archonus is shrouded in long, black robes with ornate pauldrons and voluminous sleeves. Underneath is a complex set of ribbed armour and a long tunic under an ornate belt. His face is hidden by a skull-like mask (see above).

    Primary Weapon(s): As a Sith Sorcerer, Archconus uses the Dark Side as his greatest and most potent weapon. He excels at manipulating the life forces of other beings, as well as conjuring Force Lightning with practiced skill.

    Secondary Weapon(s): An ornate, curved lightsaber (like the one on the Holonet) with a red blade that he rarely, if ever, needs to use.

    Miscellaneous Item(s): A triangular holocron hanging from his belt and on his person at all times. No one knows what information it holds. All attempts to retrieve it have failed. Miserably.

    Personality: Archonus is cold, calculating, and secretive. He is an expert in working behid the scenes, often plotting ingenious schemes to crush his enemies from the inside. Few understand his goals and modus operandi, but are wise enough to follow the orders he gives them without asking why. His enigmatic nature has earned him the nickname "the Shadow" amongst the Empire. He displays a very apparent hatred for the Republic, as well as a thirst for knowledge on how to gain immortality.

    Biography: Little is known about Darth Archonus's past. For all intents and purposes, he just appeared on Dromund Kaas and ascended with surprising efficiency through the ranks of the Empire. Many of his strategies have resulted in the capture of Republic planets, and he even had a hand in the Sacking of Coruscant.

    Heres what I got so far. I may flesh out the Bio later.

  17. Like many people have said, it is probably your positioning.

    Sorcerers are squishy. After my first few Warzones that fact was inescapable. You have to be smart, because you will get flattened if you go toe-to-toe with a melee class.

    Your advantages are range and bubbles. Tell me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure Sorc's have one of the best ranges in the game. You have to stay on the high-ground and hit anyone foolish enough to get within the reach of your lightnig while they play an exciting game of "Why is my health going down?"

    ALWAYS keep your bubble up. No exceptions.

    Also, in the Madness tree there is a skill called "Madness" which removes the cooldown of Force Lightning. Get it if your specing DPS. After I reached it my gameplay was vastly improved.

  18. its getting lame fast. In a WG al you see is lightinglightinglightinglightinglightinglighting. and the occasional pew pew from the 1 other class in the WG.

    Really so many lazy people out there choosing a unimaginative class.

    Really?

    Because in my WZ's all I see are BH/Troopers or IA/Smugglers.

    And there is nothing unimaginative about tracer missile>tracer missile>tracer missile ad naseum?
