  1. I'm sure this has been brought up before, but I thought it needed repeating cause I can't understand how hard this little suggestion is.

    Fix the Codex

    Fix the Codex

As a completionist I have done everything I can get my hands on with the exception of a few world bosses. I've collected all the datacrons, I've killed millions of mobs, and I've flown all over the planets. What I've come to find is that there are MANY locations, Many Titles, Many Species, and a few persons of note that are not obtainable. They might have been in BETA, but they weren't achievable in production. Can we get it updated already? PLEASE!!!!!

  2. I kind of agree with the OP on this one. And I'll tell you why.

First .... The group I normally run with does not consist of Mid to early 20 year olds (or younger).

Second .... We have no problem with more difficult content (heck one of our normal DPS took 3 hours to get through a Foundary .... what an awesome pug group he got)

Third .... one of our normal DPS has really bad arthritis in his hands and is over 50.

    Fourth .... our group has columi/black hole/rakata gear ...... it's not a gear issue.

As a group we have only been past the first boss in HM LI exactly 1 time. By the time we got to the second boss it was so late we threw ourselves at it 2 or 3 times and then called it a night. We haven't gotten past him since. The overall view of the mechanics is easy. It's the combination of them and the soft 'enrage' at 20% that's annoying.

Don't tell me to watch YouTube videos cause we've watched plenty. Don't tell me to L2P cause I know how.

Balls drop .... not overly difficult, but combine that with the tank having to move the boss .... poof incinerate goes off cause the tank is out of range for his interrupt ..... wipe. Oh you say have a DPS do it? Right .... they run into the fire of the lava (that doesn't do the laughable damage others have said) shortly thereafter .... bamm their dead. Oh have the healer cleanse the incinerrate? Right ..... the tank has taken too much damage now and can't catch up if he even made it through the incinerate.

We have no problem changing our tactics. That's how we figured out HM EV/KP. We made our healers do all the work cause we lost too much DPS and hit enrage timers (mostly cause we end up melee heavy we think). And if you want to change the loot so the rewards for this is better than maybe we would attempt it more often, but with the gear we have and the wipes we end up taking we spend several 100's of credits on repair bills and then we have to spend more time on dailies just to do it over again.

I like content .... and in all so far from what I've seen I like HM LI. It's not the mechanics of the fights, it's the amount of the simultaneous mechanics that cause the issue. Especially when you have to combat a server side lag ...... I can't tell you the number of times I move out of the bomb only after it hit because we didn't even see the reticle on the ground when it was going to hit. Only after it starts doing damage to us do we even know its there.

Flame me if you will, but just cause we aren't as young as some of you others and thus reaction times can't interrupt incinerates before even the first tick doesn't mean we should be penalized ... it's a game for goodness sakes.

    :sy_armor: Flame on!

  3. Don't get me wrong I'm totally stoked to finally have the belt look I've been wanting on my Smuggler and to FINALLY have an orange belt and bracers on my marauder but did you really have to give us skirts again?!? Go get some Lightsabers and put a skirt on then try to emulate our moves in game and see what happens... go ahead I'll wait.

Maybe the lower Robes are supposed to be more like a Hakama? And for those that don't know .... they look very much like a skirt, but really are a very large pant. And I could do quite of few of the moves in the game with a Hakama on.

Let me just say ... that I don't disagree with you. Just wanted to point out your last line really. :)

  4. The damage and defense WOULD cancel each other out if the two partys were doing the same damage to each other. Everyone know's healer (with the exception of BH/Troopers when at 30 stacks) do crap for damage. So in effect the net result is the DPS'r gets much more value from his 10% attack (10% of 2000 is greater than 10% of 500 .. trust me)

Now you could argue that the healer gains more from the defense stat since mitigating 10% of 2000 is better than mitigating 10% of 500 based on raw numbers (Ie the DPS'r mitigates 50 and the healer mitigates 200) The simple case is though that at those rates without healing the healer will die. Healers would become valor-cows. So healers heal to offset incoming damage. Now this is a choice .. heal or DPS. Healers tend to heal and run away since its not helping our team standing there trading blows with a DPS, and will generally get you killed Vs a good DPS anyway.

I do agree that healers get more powerful in a group situation, thats the archtype tho. Tanks also get more powerful in a group situation, as do DPS who can assist and work interrupt rotation.

I am all for Bioware making the WZ's queues more balanced and adding a *Queue as* feature where you queue's as a healer / tank / DPS and the game tried to balance the groups. I hate 5 healer games as much as anyone else. Nerfing healers on an individual basis because of that is dumb though. As is nerfing healers b/c some other classes have trouble (or cant) take them down 1v1. There are several classes that can destroy healers 1V1, if your not playing one get some help on that healer, its a team game. If you are playing one .. well get better.

I mean as a healer should I be calling for nerfs on marauders and sentinals b/c I cant solo a good one? Yet people feel its fine for them to call for a nerf on healers when they can solo one? /boggle. Bit of a one way street here no?

I have a feeling that some of this stems from servers where 1 side is rolling in warzones all the time. I know on my server it takes literally 4 - 5 hrs to get 3 daily wins during the peak hours of play. Gets SUPER annoying and what I see most of the time is stacked healer teams on the other side when we have 1 maybe 2 usually. Even as a healer its SUPER annoying.

  5. aha! Point taken.

Still, you could still break it by a knockback/pull/stun. It's a good tactic though and one I hadn't thought of until now :D

The knockback/pull/stun .... Only breaks it for what 2 seconds? I think the issue the healers in here (myself included) is that some people are forgetting that stuff.

    Pull - breaks our cast

    KB - breaks our cast

Stun - breaks cast and keeps us from healing

    Interrupt - breaks cast

Interrupt 2 (some classes) - another break cast

Some of those KB's can be speced to root. Healers can get a beatdown. A 5 man team can probably take down 2 healers and a tank if they split up to CC/interrupt casts, but it still takes some time and the bomb is planted. I think this leads to what is normally seen as one of the big issues in PVP right now .... STUNFEST!

Glad I could give you a new tactic :) .... as a healer I find ways to keep people busy for just long enough for something to happen (cap turret, plant bomb, or score a TD). I get SUPER focused on my server it seems so I have to find some other way to be useful to my team (i.e. pulling DPS away from the turret in Alderan).

  6. I snipped the important part here.

    1) Voidstar: If 5 people can't kill 1 of the 2 healers then they are simply bad. Attacking the DPSer is idiocy past the first 5-10 seconds, when the realization should arrive that he's being healed for 3-4k health a second.

    2) Alderaan: Now you're talking about stealth versus healers, not sure where you are going with this. Honestly though, when we (4 man + pug obviously) take turrets we never leave one person there. Maybe if we're in a side/middle situation, then we'll assign a good duelist there.

Typically, we assign 2 though, a duelist and a healer.

And by the time you change focus .... bomb has been planted on the other door. See how that worked? :)

Alderaan ... I just made reference to the most impossible strategy to counter that I've seen so far. :) I agree 2 is best at a turret, but against some of the teams that I've come up against 2 full heals and a hybrid (or 2) troopers ... you need all the DPS you can get.

I can't wait for 8 man queues .... some of the "other 4" .... just wow.

  7. Like I said, let's wait for rated warfronts shall we? We will see just how good these groups do ;)

I'm going to give you a hint ... in the thread with the what group would you run for 8v8, no competitive guild mentioned 4 healers

Got to wait and see what happens with the DPS changes coming (you know those non nerfs that were mentioned at the Guild Summit).

  8. If 3 guys or even 10 guys heal 1 person, this won't prevent them from being globalled. Statements like this tell me you have not played pvp in a proper pvp group.

And statements like yours tell me you haven't faced many of these groups.

  9. Now this I can kinda agree with.

2 healers focusing on healing a third will make him unkillable.

The question is, from a warzone perspective, what good is that? Really.

in Huttball, it's okay if he's the ball carrier. Although there's still knockbacks and what not that neutralize any 'immortality'.

In Alderaan, it's a complete waste of resources to do this. Voidstar, slightly less so.

Ilum/mass pvp? This simply isn't happening in a large battle.

So I wonder honestly, what is the problem? If a DPSer is being healed by 3 sources, he's not dying either.

Agreed mass pvp is different than the warzone situation. More specifically on that is that it gets SUPER spread out compared to warzone battle which is usually not done this way. In Voidstar a 2 heal 1 dps group can keep a 5 man team occupied so the other door can be overwhelmed (we've done it) and the turrets in alderaan are similar in nature. Alderaan is even worse when it comes to stealth. Those that are stealth can do enough damage to typically wipe out the 1 person guarding a turret while trying to cap a second.

I've done enough warzones to see multiple strategies and the stealth strategy in ACW is the most annoying as there is no reaction time. Stealthers kill the defenders and cap before reinforcements can be made.

Again ... Mass pvp is different and in the end does get significantly different outcome than warzones. We get steamrolled in warzones, but given even footing we would steamroll in mass pvp like ilum.

  10. This is a non-issue, focus fire will destory healer heavy teams ... like they have in every mmo before swtor.

wrong ... against a 3 or 4 healer team .... if 3 guys are healing 1 person ..... they won't die. I've rarely been no the opposite side where we had 3 or 4 healers ..... we rolled against teams with only 1 MAYBE 2 heals. Even if do manage to get 1 healer down ... they are back into the fight after respawn before you can get another one down.

  11. yah it's the multiple healer groups that insane. Sadly most of my teams are 1 ... MAYBE 2 healers up against a 3 SOMETIMES 4 healer team. Can kill anyone and we die alot (they are usually coupled with stealthers so they kill peeps without ever showing up much).

Nerf the heals per team ... not the heals themselves.

  12. Of course once someone disagrees with you they make a fool of themselves. Ad hominem attacks are for people without valid arguments.

It's obvious expertise scales better for healers or better said the removal of the trauma debuff scales better. The reason for this is because healing does not scale well to being with and needs to be compensated somewhere else.

The fact that you don't see this and many people have tried to explain it to you. My blog tries to make sense of some of the weird design decisions in the game.

And No I don't agree with the OP. Many of things he mention is misleading. Take this statement:

'1) Consider two players with 0 expertise: a DPS hits for 1000 damage, the defending player takes 1000 damage (ignore other Damage Reduction for now, please). The defending player hits back for 1000, and the DPS takes 1000 damage.

    2) Now two players with 500 Expertise: a DPS hits for [what would be] 1100 damage, but the defending player takes 1000 damage. The defending player, of course, hits back for [what would be] 1100 damage, but the DPS takes 1000 damage. Net gain of zero, if both players have the same expertise'

This make no sense because when you get gear equivalent to 500 expertise. You would be hitting for more than 1000 damage. This is why you need to look at attribute scaling before even judging expertise.

P.S. I wrote those blogs. My understanding of the english language, even though it's not my primary language is just fine.

His examples and thus this whole thread is really a way to look at the numbers and situation in a vacuum removing all other variables. While it succeeds in this ... we all know that this does not really transfer to real world (in game) scenarios.

  13. Umm no that wasn't his point and if it was its not relevant to the topic, its not even the blogs point which makes no reference to absolute healing levels but refers to scaling so as gears improves they should theoretically get worse given the current levels of scaling not exactly rocket science you can just look at the character sheet.

Your statement that their healing is lower than the DPS though is utter rubbish I have no hard data but anecdotally I would say despite a lot of over healing which doesn't get counted healers are pretty much on a par or slightly ahead of DPS in total healing done despite a 30% trauma reduction. I have not problem healing through raw damage from any of the high damage classes, without interrupts, stuns etc I would fancy my chances against any dps class.

Take healing numbers with a grain of salt in warzones .... AOE heals do a great job of padding healing numbers. And cross healing too (healers healing healers)

  14. Oh sarcasm, wow. Well, sorry buddy, it's not sarcasm, you are just bad. If you can't survive two dps (unless you play an operative or it's counterpart, which I believe) then maybe I could have a freind of mine show you how it's done in a combination of champion and centurion gear, without my guard up on him.

Truth be told it depends on the 2 DPS ... I'm a Sorc healer. I will NEVER win the fight as I have 0 time to do any DPS to the apposing people and my DPS is for crap and they can heal through it easily enough. 2 people doing interrupts on 4 overall spells 5 if you count the AOE that I can never get off without an interrupt. The damage output of the 2 DPS (especially shadows and smugs) are going to clean my clock. yes this based on them getting the drop on me, but lets face it that is pretty much all they can do.

2 grav round troopers (I face this alot on my server) ... once again screwed unless I hide behind a pillar, but again I can NEVER get DPS off.

No I'm not bad. My job is to heal. I know that when I'm focused I'm screwed. I know going into a warzone on my server that I'm going to be targeted and 1 vs 1 I can keep up with the dps for the most part (except shadows and smugs as stated above).

I want you to realize that what you are saying as having a chance isn't true ... having a chance is me winning .... and that should never happen. That's why i have friends. THAT'S why I'm a HEALER.

    ----------------------

I get the premise of this thread. In raw numbers (and ignoring trauma) expertise does scale better than DPS. PvP is not a raw number format. PvP has variables that can't necessarily be accounted for until the situation occurs (additional minuses to healing received by other abilities). 1 on 1 a healer shouldn't win (and I can't, but tanks and other healers usually come to a stalemate). 1 vs more the healer is dead.

    Note: I'm a healer not a hybrid.

  15. Like I said, you enjoy your easy-mode. That's why you come bark in every thread that's aimed at healing. Healin in this game is OP, because of expertise, and how brain-dead do you have to be to say it scales better for DPS than it does for healer, do the gosh darn math for **** sake. But take into account the fact that healers have enough defensive cooldowns to offer them more than a fair chance agains two dps. Take into account the fact that the resolve bar favours healers above anyone else in this game. And take into account that interrupts are a bad joke put in this game just so we can say it has interrupts. Aside that they are next to useless only good if the healer is about to die. That's mostly the only time it makes a difference. So take your own advice and do some damn research.

Wow your whole second part of that is just wrong. 2 DPSers ... I'm screwed. I don't have close to ANY defensive cooldowns to offer me ANY kind of chance. Interrupts a bad joke? Really? When it screws with my cooldown of the heal and I'm left to resort to the single instacast and CHANNELED spell that don't do near the healing.

I REALLY hope this is a sarcasm post.

  16. As I posted in another thread ..... plain and simple there isn't anyone that can't kill me 1 vs 1 (I'm a healer). The exceptions are tanks and other healers. Now that doesn't mean I can kill them either as my DPS sucks and I have to continue to heal my self most times.

I'm guessing your missing something with your class and NEVER forget your interrupts.

  17. Being what essentially is your imperial equivalent ...... I disagree. I'm valor 65 (full champ gear) and I get creamed by your republic counter parts.

Smugs/Troopers - They take me down Pretty quickly regardless of my heals. On my server there are at least 3 of these in most warzones and i'm fairly known ... thus I'm focused and dead. The troopers are already getting a rework of their grav round spam ... now for something to even out the smugs burst from stealth :D

Jedi Sentinal - I think this is the tank right? If so .... they can't really kill me by themselves. They don't hit hard enough and I can heal through it until reinforcements come.

Jedi Knight - Unless I have Knight and Sentinal backwards ..... I can heal against 1 of these fairly well too, however, I'm still pretty much toast unless I get help in the first maybe 10 seconds. They do decent damage, but the saber throw is the most deadly ... and the root off charge (not effected by resolve) is kinda silly.

Jedi Councilars - healing spec .... Well as far as I can tell either most of them are running a good heal/dps hybrid or I just simply can't figure them out. Then again I don't get alot of 1 vs 1 on healers as their friends come and cream me :)

non healers ... pretty much cream me. I can heal a bit, but like my lightning or Madness friends your non healers do some pretty good damage at a pretty good clip.

Shadows - about as bad as smugglers, but not QUITE that bad. I can get a few more heals off, but with the stealth, stun, and interrupt combo I'm pretty much toast after 10 seconds or so due to heals being on cooldown.

    -----------------------------

The problem I run into in most warzones is that the republic side (on our serve mind you) usually has at least 2 heals and often 3 .... Cross heals are so entirely nasty that you can never kill anyone. It's the same the other way around though ..... I was in a warzone earlier today that I was able to take a beating against the Jedi knight tank, 2 shadows, and 1 Jedi knight DPS. I was casting whatever heals I could and I was getting heals from somewhere else. While the 2 of us were cross healing and maybe 1 or 2 DPS trying to pick off the guys attacking me we planted the bomb on the other door.

I won't be surprised if we get some kind of a nerf to cross healing at some point because it is quite frankly pretty disgusting.

The object for the apposing team in pvp 9 times out of 10 is to kill the healer. You do that then the other people go down faster. As a healer you get focused ... it happens. Learn that and move on. I'd like more DPS but then most people cry 'nerf sorcs' as it is, but as a healer all I do it tickle people.

  18. Ops were nerfed for their RL players own safety.

Seriously, if I get knocked down and 3 shotted by a NERFED operative, and then they whine and get a buff.

Yours is the most reviled class when it comes to PvP.

Dart in, stab stab stab, you take some damage down to 15% health and poof, vanish like a coward. Its good that you under perform.

And smugglers for those of us on the imps side. I was cirtted for 6k in a warzone when I have over 600 expertise ..... no they aren't OP ... not at all.

  19. Currently we are the worst class in the game. On every metric after every WZ, we are outclassed. We have nothing to offer a group in pve that someone else doesn't do better.

As a healer I laugh at getting hidden striked. I can dot my way out of trouble against a well geared OP. Consulars hit 600k healing. I am lucky to get 300k. Saw 400k once.

Raid leaders, why would yo ever pick us? Not including snipers in this mind you, they are fine. Just wondering if 1.2 will actually give me a reason to continue playing this POS class.

You are ... and you are wrong. I've seen plenty of ops heal in PVP well. Counsulars pad their stats pretty well by cross healing most warzones.

  20. PvP sucks, PvE is boring, engine is weak and bugged, no new content => people leave. Also many doesn't believe 1.2 (aka +2 instances, +1 warzone) may save the game because our experience says it will be bugged, delayed, and exploited beyond any recognition.

Wait for +5-7 days: there is subscription deadline in March, 18 and many will leave. Including my toons.

I enjoy pvp in SWTOR actually .... PvE is just fine for me ... engine is fine and the game is no more buggy that I have seen other MMO's in the past. As for no new content ... the game is still NEW and they have a HUGE patch for 1.2 that would not typically be a free patch in previous games (see Everquest 2).

The MMO genre is getting away from most people now and THAT is the issue I see.

  21. You are speaking as if your own view is a universal truth not everyone feels it's too easy and it isn't one of those things that has a right or wrong answer because it's subjective.

Not everyone feels like this game should be a second job....and Bioware isn't going to give the finger to Millions in subscription money because they don't meet your hardcore standards.

I agree. I spend hours a day on this game. I go into a hard mode with guildies (Battle for Ilum) last night and we got wasted. We couldn't beat the enrage timer. I don't see it as easy mode but that's because I play with casual people. We still have plenty to do.

  22. I hate to admit this but the game is really boring. Once you realized it you will lose your will to play and just straight out cancel your acct. not only that but whatever you do it's pointless now since they are making it easy mode for everyone.

what discouraged me the most was that after grinding for the BM rank 2 weeks later they made it easy mode to reach BM. Its nice in a way but Im disappointed since I have a feeling that it will happen again and again.

That's because they never really punished or took away the BM stuff from those that used the exploit in Ilum. How can you allow that and not make it easier for those coming up? It might still be 'easy' mode, but it isn't still easy. Still takes many hours and on my server Republic roll the warzones half the time and valor is still difficult to come by.
