  1. Played powertech since launch, rank 73 on a fairly low population EU server, where Ilum has been a wasteland since launch. No killtrading whatsoever, just the occasional 1vs1, 1vs2. All my pvp experience is at level 50. I did zero WZs leveling up. So yeah, I've played my share of the class, feel free to make assumptions about my skill and/or level or intelligence. I also happen to have full BM and just enough access to Rakata gear to min/max my toon. I've been really, -really- lucky with Op drops. Most of the times I Q warzones with a RL friend of mine, sorcerer healer. Being on a low population server, theres only 2 other pyros we encounter on our team regularly. One of them in particular, will stay in IGC for half the warzone as soon as he sees us, guarding my friend while in Range. We end up eating through 6 BM geared oponents like a wrecking ball 3vs6 regularly, it's not even funny. It is a -very- powerfull option to have the extra guard and currently pyros can guard, without losing nearly enough of their burst as they should. You don't even need to use IM, if you know your targets will get doted. So, the heat in certain cases isn't as bad as it would seem. You can come up with a number of scenarios in organised pvp, where having a burst class switching cylinders accordingly, would be OP. Enough about this argument though, we can agree to disagree if you want. It is borderline off topic at this point. Carolina Parakeets felt balanced. Noone ever complained about them, playing one didn't feel OP, just extremely fun. I refuse to believe, that anyone in their right minds would nerf them intentionally and leave Tankassins untouched. This being a nerf to pyros seems more logical to me.
  2. Where did you get the idea I suggested pyros would be running IGC? They currently have the option to switch on the fly when necessary, by sacrifising way too little. If you can't imagine all the pvp scenarios where it would be helpfull, I can't help you. In fact, it's potentially so OP that I feel this is a fair nerf. Noone ever complained about Parakeets. I've played CP and being full Pyro currently, I feel far more powerfull as a pyro. The iron fist specc is a pvp tank specc with DPS gear, hence, not a -true- tank. Easily comparable to Tankassins. However, like I said, while iron fist and CP feel balanced, Tankassins feel far far stronger. I'm just trying to make sence of the chaos here.
  3. I honestly don't think the intention was to nerf the "Carolina Parakeet". I suspect PPA requiring CGC to trigger, was intended as a nerf to full pyros. Full pyro currently, can easily switch to IGC and put guard on somebody, without losing (too) much of its offensive potential. To be fair, it would have been OP for rateds. This nerf breaking the Parakeet, was just an unfortunate side effect I'm affraid. I see this argument floating around these threads a lot and I must say, it's pretty dumb. Why is it so important wether it's a hybrid or not? Why do people assume Devs have something against hybrid specs, when they have specifically stated they don't? (That is, unless a hybrid is broken, Sorcerers for instance) Fact is, wether you classify them as hybrids or not, both the carolina parakeet in eliminator and iron fist in Combat tech, provide an option for balance between offensive and defensive power. Iron fist being more utility oriented, the Carolina Parakeet having more raw power. However, while these speccs feel perfectly balanced, Tank assassins/shadows are clearly broken. They have excelent defensive capabilities, great utility and more dps/burst on demand than the parakeet ever had. Isn't it natural that all the powertechs, who loved this soon to be broken specc, will look in their general direction and wonder "why"?
  4. I never said I did, I played the specc exactly for what it had to offer. A tank specc that packs a little punch. There -are- however, those among us, who just want a powertech pvp dps specc with Jet charge. Running the parakeet with CGC makes it lose a lot of its sex appeal, but it's the last viable option these people have. No offence to the "iron fist" supporters, but the specc just feels too much like a tank rather than a balance between the two. For the pve folks who loved the specc for it's functionality as an offtank that can easilly switch to dps when needed, i suppose dual speccing will cover their needs. I'd still like to know why this specc was nerfed, when assassin tank hybrids feel so much stronger and where left untouched.
  5. Specc can still be adjusted to run with CGC, a lot of people have allready been doing so. It just puzzles me how this specc is getting nerfed, while certain hybrid assassin speccs are allowed to run untouched. It didn't feel any stronger. RIP
  6. You're supposed to buy the bags. The champion commendations are there for the chance that you might just need one or two to buy an item and you really want to. Granted, it is not a choice I and probably most, would take, Best to save up for a chance at a piece, but at least now we have a choice. How is that a bad thing?
  7. Either swap jet charge for Grapple or move jet charge back down as a tier 3 talent. (I can argue that Grapple is much more of a tanking tool than Jet charge) Completely get rid of Hydraulic Overrides. Give AP a -30% healing debuff in its place (Possibly attached to Retractable blade?), making it somewhat pvp viable. Daydreaming. I know.
  8. It could even be explosive fuel getting nerfed, stacking power + surge enhancements, popping power adrenals+relics paired with explosive fuel, has allowed people to turn an allready burst heavy specc into a 2 min (allmost)insta gib specc. Thinking about it, it kinda makes sence. Like others mentioned, could also be the AoE, TM, a number of things really.
  9. I play a powertech, currently in a mix of champion, battlemaster and rakata gear. I've played all speccs at one time or another, in proper gear. Got really lucky early on with champion bags. (don't hate) I find that the OP is either exagerating, or he/she is wearing pvp tanking gear (in which case you're doing it wrong). However, even though I find Poweretechs/Vanguards to be a cool, well rounded AC, theres a fundamental issue with them, that I suspect rated warzones will shed more light on. Any role we can fill in pvp, someone else can fill way better. And I mean clearly better. I can specc iron fist or a full tanking build. Juggies/Guardians are far better. I can specc for a nice balance between offence/defence (carolina parakeet). A Darkness/Madness assassin is clearly better. I can specc for burst dmg, sacrificing all mobility and the awesome utility of jet charge. A marauder/sentinel will fill that spot a lot lot better. I can specc Advanced prototype.... well, anything is better than that. In every single case, someone else brings a lot more to the table than you, while filling your niche, not really lacking much in comparison. What I find really amusing personally, is that I rolled a Powertech (being clueless) , cause it seemed like it was -the- utility class to my noobish eyes. So I reach level 50 and in every single comparison I described, the others feel like a swiss army knife compared to my powertech. I never realised they meant my attacks would have a "gadgety" feel to them and that was all. Anyway, it's too late now, I've fallen in love with my powertech. No drama, not quitting, not rerolling.... Juuuust sayin'. Sory about not being able to name the Republic Talent Tree mirrors in some cases, I just didn't feel like looking them up.
  10. Am I the only one who finds (when running with a premade) that marking a healer, with 4 pugs in your team, = instant full resolve bar for them? We never mark them, ever. Do you seriously wish to take away, the only tool uncoordinated teams can use versus premades? wow (no pun intended)
  11. Make the losing teams medals/MVP votes award half the valor. I have mixed feelings about medals. It's a great idea, to theoretically equalize the valor a tank or a healer (mostly through MVP votes) gets in a WZ, compared to someone utterly focused on damage dealing. However, being able to get more consistent valor gains, through farming medals, completely ignoring objectives and ultimately losing the game, is wrong.
  12. If your team dominates middle, the ball will never reach the 2 stealthers you mentioned at the goal line. At that point the opposing team is playing with what's effectively 6 players. If you interupt their gameplay, the stealthers will leave their cozy spots. The "strategy" you mentioned, will only work if the oposing team can effectively have 2 stealthers doing nothing, one person runing back and forth with the ball, while the rest of their team keeps control of middle and supports the ball carrier. I am sory, but if your entire team can't crush 4(?) people in middle and take back control of the game, you deserve to lose at that point. Urge people in Ops to take control of middle next time, instead of mindlessly chasing a ball carrier down the pit, then running back the long way, while the enemy team gets the rebound. Once again, control middle, control the game. What they did, isn't the only strategy you can follow for a quick score. A lot of classes can do it, chances are, theres gonna be one person playing one of them in your team, incert a nice pass here and there and any team can pull off a quick score. However, that isn't enough.
  13. I see how 2 level 50s without a decent premade can be painfull. Like you said, it's a group effort, this is a MMO. I can make a guild pve run and breese through it. Otherwise, I could pug it and possibly fail miserably. It is the nature of MMOs to bring people together to accomplish these tasks. Sometimes I think people are too spoiled by that "other" MMO. 1 win was all it took, but everyone seems to neglect how much larger the reward is on SWTOR, especially since this last patch. Hell, I think the rewards are a bit high for the effort required right now (and prollysince launch), but it levels the playfield in pvp, so I don't really mind it. But I have to draw a line when I hear things like "5-6 -games played- dailies". Like I said, WZs are bad enough sometimes as it is. Personally and this is an opinion shared by the people I pvp with, I wouldn't think about touching another charachter untill certain things have been accomplished with my main. Close to full BM etc.
