  1. Had this happen to me a few times now, I would suggest people save the boxes until a fix is applied.

Second combat style, loot disc correctly set. All new gear equipped, no 306.

GSF/PvP boxes: I've opened several. Some have given me gear (Armor and relics) I've never had a weapon or offhand from them, this maybe where the bug occurs. I've had a few bug out and drop nothing, including the last one I opened, I only have 2 armor pieces and weapon/offhand to go, so the guy above saying about offhand may have caught on to something

  2. Well your going to have to get in line with the rest of the people quitting. This new expansion is going to hurt for the people who are left playing. I already unsubbed. I refuse to regrind old content because some yuppy driving a Ferrari says so. I got better things to do than to re play a 5 year old game because the executives refuse to add content just like that disgusting and disgraceful Light vs Dark event. Absolutely shameful.

Your not alone brother. Everyone I am talking to in my guild have had enough. About 50% of the guild have already left the game and it seems the rest are leaving in the near future. And I am in one of the largest and most active guilds on Harbinger.

Its sad isn't it. I'm another riding the quit train, I have a couple of days left on my sub and I can't even be bothered to log in. I've been playing on and off since launch, have founder status and I even subbed for the entirety of KotFE.

But I can't, in good faith, grind all the same content as before, for LESS REWARD per time spent.

I didn't play to gear. I played because it was FUN. Now you lock the gear behind a grindwall?

F*ck you BW. This change is NOTHING that people were asking for. I like many others will take our money elsewhere. I may even log in from time to time (as F2P) out of morbid curiosity to watch a game in its death-throes.

  3. So I thought about it.

And thought about it some more. The only thing that I was looking forward to in 5.0 was the new Merc DCD. That was it. I just don't think I can stomach months of grind, to be at the mercy of the RNG gods for gearing. It sucked the first time BW did it and it will suck again.

Implementing ANOTHER system where people play all the same tired old content just to fill another 'XP' bar just doesn't cut it for me. First you re-released the planetary heroics as 'Weekly content', then we had the DvL event where we played the same content again. Now you ask us to do it AGAIN. I know recycling is cool, but there is a limit. I won't go on, as many others have expressed the same views.

I've said in the past SWTOR was the best 'Sci-fi-ish MMO' out there. I think the scales have tipped against it.

So I've cancelled and have 9 days left. No you cant have my stuff.

  4. Please do not feed the troll, anyone who thinks a multiplayer game should only contain solo que is obviously a troll.

A Solo queue and a Group queue for regs. I don't see a problem with that. The only people who seem to see a problem with it are those that run premades. I wonder why?

PoT5 was at one point one of the dedicated PvP servers, which has always served as a good basis for determining the popularity of PvP, since it's literally the PvP server. Coincidentally, it is also very dead. Speaks volumes that people on said server strongly opposed changes to PvP mechanisms, right down until they were no longer able to get queue pops. If there's one thing that's been consistent with PvP players, it's that they'll sooner chop off their own hand before allowing even a slight change to their precious systems.

It's not that only a solo queue is desired, it's simply asked that queues be divided into solo and group queues, so that groups can face groups and solos can face solos.

    This guy gets it.

I will say it again; and a lot of us have said it for years now. Seperate queues and slowing down the pops is not the answer. Actual matchmaking based on a hidden rating, role, and team size would be. It has been bioware that has ignored that when the population was strong enough to maybe do it without cross server. And now, even with cross server; you'd probably need cross faction as well.

I have pugged 97% of the time since launch. When I face a curb stomping vs a premade compared to actually beating a premade; it has absolutely nothing to do with the premade being present and all to do with a lack of having another or at least decent players on my team. I can also tell you I have been stomped by or as PUGs just as easily when facing PUGs of less experience or skill. Seperating premades would not save me from that.

I will agree that matchmaking is sorely lacking in regs. However that is part of its charm, sometihng which keeps it fresh and makes you adapt to your teams structure.

Separating premades would solve the problem. Queuing solo would mean being queued with other solo people of all skills, all classes etc. The other side has the same chance as your side to get a group of good, bad or undergeared players. A real level playing field. Yes you still have some teams who are better than other teams, but that is then down to the random queue and not whether someone has decided to stack the deck beforehand and queue with a premade.

    Suck less!

    Thanks for the constructive input!

Create your own premade. They don't have to be guildies.

No thanks. I won't be part of the problem. This is as bad as saying:

"There is currently an exploit to get more WZ comms. Everyone is doing it so it's OK. You should too or you will be at a disadvantage."

Better to ask them to balance the teams. ie, same faction vs faction, instead of putting 3 healers on one team and 5 stealths on the other, how about trying to split that. If they have 2 premades, put one on each team. etc.

asking to remove premades would mean pvp would never pop. The time to ask for that option died 2 years ago. All it would do now is make queue times twice as long.

No reason we cannot ask for both. A simple algorithm that spreads tanks and healers evenly between the two teams would solve it. Premades currently screw with this. Any group queuing gets put on the same team. Stack a couple of premades on one side and you have a stomp-fest.

  5. All I'm saying they are good at bending things one way or another.

Biggest recent example in my eyes that they said that operation exclusive mounts would forever stay exclusive to those.

When they released the eternal championship they put the NIM DP exclusive mount in there only but color altered.

So who's to say they wouldn't just name it something else to untie it from command system and sell it on the CM.

Not saying that they will, but not out of the question either. They good at milking people in any way.

Hate to be that guy but the mount is still exclusive, is it not? The EC mount is different. Even if you don't like the differences.

Yes there are other examples where BW has changed direction on certain things. But changing direction is not lying.

  6. This, at its core, is about creating balance and removing imbalance.

By creating a premade group, with tanks, healers, dps, node guards, voice comms, you ARE stacking the deck in your favour. Especially if the other team is a group of disorganised solo queuers, with no trinity balance or even a common language.

Do you see that as wrong? I do, people are gaining an unfair advantage in winning games.

People complain about Class stacking. Or FotM classes. Or Tank/Healer synergy. This premade problem is simple an extension of seeking that balance.

Imagine if grouping gained you a flat increase in WZ comms per match. That would be unfair, yes? So what is so different about grouping to work the percentages knowing that more often than not, grouping will result in a win.

It would be very simple to BW to implement. A flag here, a separate queue there and its done.

WIll it happen? Who knows. Even if it NEVER happens, it still wont stop me from thinking it is unfair.

  7. For that I have to say, get over it. PvP is one of the few things left in this game that is still group content. Where as you have to join a group. It's already catering to solo players as you don't have to have a guild or group to queue up & play.

As for constantly losing to premades, it's a learn to play issue as all premades are not in voice coms, excellent players, etc...They're friends playing an MMO together. *gasp* Fathom that. lol

Its not a 'Learn to play' issue at all. How can a disorganized group of solo players possible hope to compete against a balanced premade of people who know their role and are suitable equipped with gear and voice comms?

Yes its group content. You are playing with other players. The game provides that framework. We shouldnt have to pre-group to be competitive. This needs fixing.

What a joke! No they're not. They hope they can turn the tide of the WZ & win, yes. That's what all players want, whether solo or premade. But that is not why they're queuing up together. As stated above, they're friends playing together. And sometimes when they are in voice coms, it isn't what you think is going on. lol It's either silence as they're concentrating on what they're doing, with a few "INC" called out, or they're chatting about something aside from the WZ. They're not coordinating their every move; in sync perfectly.

A premade group of 4 still can not carry the rest of the group in an 8v8 wz, to victory. They might help it (or hinder it, depending on the guild queuing. lol) but they're not single handedly carrying it to victory. The solo players queuing up are helping too.

So why the hostility towards a premade ONLY queue? If people want to play together they can. Away from the solo queuers. If people are grouping for 'your' reasons stated above then this can only lead to things being better for the premades and the solo queuers.

I've played PvP since launch. I know that communication is sometimes the only thing that separates two teams. Calling INC on a node/door. Calling that you are in the end zone for a ball pass. Do not underestimate its power.

This is completely unfair and leads to bitterness. Those solo queuers who don't want to group up for whatever reason, are resigned to losing. We can change that by putting the people who want to group against each other.

If it leads to bitterness you need to step away from the game, first & foremost as you're taking it way to seriously. Which then leads to affecting your RL.

Second, read all above rebuttal to your very long winded, yet saying the same thing over again, post.

Plus this should be in the PvP forums section. Not in General.

Of course this leads to bitterness. Solo queuers stand very little chance of winning if a premade is on the other team. So what do they do? It leaves a sour taste for new or casual PvP'ers, so they don't bother queuing again. Just as people are complaining about being FORCED to trust the RNG, Solo queuers are being FORCED to pre-group to be competitive.

The playing field is leveled. You can get your gear just like everyone else has. (Soon it will be even harder for everyone to get gear.) You can learn to play your class properly. You can learn to defend & play objectives properly. You can learn to duel the classes that eat your lunch.

It's all on YOU. Not BW to dumb the game down, make queues even harder to get into, kill PvP the rest of the way.

No it isnt. How is a premade team of healer/tank/DPS with voice comms or preplanned objectives LEVEL against a group of random players who may not even speak the same language. This isnt about learning to play a class or objectives. This is about premade imbalance.

This isnt about dumbing the game down. Premades will fight premades. Solo queuers will face solo queuers. If solo queuers dont have fun in PvP they will quit.

If they did implement what you're suggesting, all people have to do is queue at the same time. You have a 90% chance of getting into the same WZ without even being in a group.

It's how some guilds get 8 guildies in the same WZ.

Queue syncing already happens, but it at least guarantees some RNG. A chance.

Let me re-iterate. I don't want people to stop queuing together. I just want those that queue together to be put in their own bracket. Grouped Unranked call it.

I get the feeling that it would soon die a death however. Simply because premades would realize they are no longer in for an easy win. So perhaps premades just need banning completely.

  8. I've seen it a thousand times.

    Team one: Random solo queuers.

Team two: One or Two premade groups. With healers and a tank. Possibly voice comms. At least a common language.

Guess which team wins. Every single time.

Now I don't want to stop people from playing together, so Bioware, could you please put premade groups in their own queue, away from Solo queuers. You have the mechanics in place for group ranked and solo ranked. Make a grouped regular and solo regular.

Coming up against a premade isn't fun for those of us who solo queue. Since you seem to be catering to a more solo based playstyle, constantly losing to premades is going to leave a sour taste in peoples mouths.

People who group to play regulars know exactly what they are doing. They are stacking the deck. Making sure they win time and again with no hope for the other team.

This is completely unfair and leads to bitterness. Those solo queuers who don't want to group up for whatever reason, are resigned to losing. We can change that by putting the people who want to group against each other.

Give solo queuers a fighting chance in PvP by levelling the playing field.

  9. Your statement is incorrect. There are currently players with 224 gear. If you have anything worse than that, you are already at a disadvantage in PvP come 12/2.

You are making assumptions. We do not know how 208 PvP gear or 224 gear will perform at level 70 none expertise.

We may even get gear during the levelling process that is better all previous levels. 230 Greens anyone?

  10. I wont be sad to see Expertise go, it was a mess with bolster. At least now people will be competitive from the start, an equal base to build from.

Comms etc always change from expansion to expansion in any game, while it might be a bit painful at first, we will all soon get over it.

I don't mind the idea of a ever revolving command XP grind, this works in other games well enough.

    BUT..

PLEASE DON'T MAKE GEAR RNG DEPENDENT. No one, I repeat NO-ONE likes this. I want to play for 'X' amount of time, knowing that it will then allow me to buy 'Y'. I don't want to play for 'X' amount of time and get NO rewards for it. For instance, we have to grind to get 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 items. After 4 months play time I have 1,2,3,5,6,7. I then wait the next 6 months for 4. This is unacceptable and I guarantee will cause players to quit.

PLEASE DO NOT associate a willingness from the player-base to accept RNG in cosmetic boxes and think it is acceptable to do the same with in game gear. Remember the debacle that was battlemaster bags? I quit the game for a while after that...

  11. Well if me and 3 other players could Q and get a Group Rank pop within 5min I assure you I, and most others would probably not even touch warzone's on there main toons, and or Solo Rank. I know I speak for myself when I say that, definitely.

Which proves my point completely. If there were people who purely wanted to group with friends for the purposes of PvP group ranked would be rocking. But it isn't.

What you actually have is premades q'ing for all the reasons I gave in my previous post. Premades are there for the purposes of stomping solo q'ers and newbies. To make the premade feel better about themselves. Regstars is a term often used.

Then Solo Rank, well its a joke. It would haft to pop every single minute for it to be worth it. I don't like winning 3 or 4 games in a row ie, then losing the 5th because I have no control who is Qing up. Among the fact you have no communication. You just hope everyone doesn't spread dps, and swaps when needed, and if you get someone that can swap > cc or interrupt a healer then swap back to dps target then your in good shape.

Which is exactly what happens in regs, without any matchmaking. Up against a premade, there is no chance.

Bioware should make premades join a premade only queue. The only problem is it would be dead within weeks. People would just q-sync in solo regs to bypass and hope for the best. However, It would be preferable to the situation we have at the moment.

  12. You can bet your life that if the developers made it so that premades would only face other premades, that 'mode' would die pretty quickly. Forget the bull about wanting to 'queue with friends'. People who queue with a premade do so because they want an advantage, they want to stack the deck.

If they just wanted to play PvP together and play challenging play, why don't they roll a ranked team and play ranked? Simple, they just want to roflstomp solo q'ers and feel superior about it.

If they truly wanted to set up a ranked match for objectives, they could queue-sync to achieve that goal, against a predetermined team. But they don't do that. They prefer to smash solo q'ers, newbies et al. Premades then have the audacity to claim that it isn't fun winning all the time. Pull the other one... If it were that bad you'ed stop queuing premades.

There is a certain guild on TRE which rolls premades made up of FOTM classes, stalling tactics and then posts gloating videos on YT/Reddit. That is epitome of 'tryhard', if you wanted a description.

Personally, If I see that certain guild on MY team or the opposing team I just leave. It isn't fun. For anyone.

  13. I agree. I get genuinely disoriented trying to work out the east/west thing. I wish I didn't, but it's just one of the limitations of my brain that I've had to learn to deal with. I can't reverse direction very well in my head.

This is probably the biggest issue with Voidstar and has been since launch. What it needs is something like a big red light on one side and a blue on the other, with the colour different being clearly visible.

Could just call RED or BLUE then, r1, b4 etc. You could even disable those lights when the doors have fallen and then illuminate the lights on the next set of doors. Red will always be red then and will always be valid to call (Repetition is a key to remembering it)

  14. Hi everyone. Just getting back into the game after a very long hiatus, and I was thinking about PvP'ing. All my gear is 224, and PvE has just become a bore. Would you guys say that PvP in SWTOR is interesting and fun? Or perhaps not quite as good as ___ game? Or just not worth doing at all?

Just curious to hear your opinions on it. Thanks :)

Well PvP is the only real challenge left in the game. Simply because of the variety/randomness of players/skill levels etc.

    1. Find a play style you like. Heal if you want to heal, DPS etc. Or just play objectives. Pick a class that excels at your playstyle. For hardmode pick a class that DOESNT fit your playstyle and make it fit.

    2. Until you have a set of PvP gear, wear 190 greens. You will get full bolster that way.

    3. Accept that due to matchmaking/premades there will be matches you will get stomped. Either leave (there is no penalty) or assign yourself a goal in the match (kill the healer, defend a door, do over 2M dmg)

Take your time, learn how the other classes play and what you can and can't do. Its huge fun when it goes right. Frustrating as hell when it doesn't.

  15. Just to make sure, you're running Win10, right? Win7 is complete garbage for modern hardware.

Yeah. Gonna have to call you out on this one. Absolute nonsense. At best *opinion*..

SWTOR Needs raw CPU speed. My G3258 @ 4.5Ghz will run it from 60-100FPS, until warzones, where it drops to 20-30FPS. Both cores will be pegged at 100%.

An i5/i7 will perform similarly, but it will be better at load balancing with other OS tasks.

SSD and SWTOR unleashed greatly improve matters if you have RAM available.

The modified Hero engine is an absolute dog when it comes to multiple players on screen. More so when all those player are emitting sparkly effects.
