  1. I recommend SLC because they are more friendly players and no big drama . Even though they aren't as active as they used to be, they are still not dead and are hitting good(for a pvp guild) large yield score every week in CQ

The other PVP guilds.. are mostly ghost towns.

Also, it depends on what you want. Some people want ranked exclusive guilds and those on DM are kinda... dead or dying now, but I might be wrong.

    What is SLC?

  2. Hey Im brand new to the game and have been doing research supposedly star forge is a RP/PVE server is this true? Should I roll on SS if I am looking for some pvp and world pvp? Or does Star forge have a healthy pvp community and active world pvp battles here and there!? Please elaborate to me if I made the right decision coming here or if I made a mistake! An if SF is the good server to pvp on what are the known PvP guilds for both sides so I know who to seek once I make a faction decision! Thank you! :D

I'm on Star Forge also. Would love to join a guild that has active pvpers.

  3. hatred/serenity is getting nerfed hard with death knell nerf, murderous is pretty **** for a 6 sec 100% crit, if it were 9-10 sec it would be good. Saddly hatred/serenity is outdated.

Have you tried the murderous revelation set?

I was checking out this guide and Hatred looks good.

  4. I'd caution you on that though. It's true that for a period of a few weeks there was some team ranked going on. But it was still coordinated among the teams when to queue. And that limited activity seems to have slowed down by this point. You won't be able to just get a team and hop in queue whenever you want and get pops unfortunately.

Ahh thank you for the insight....

Seems like I need to find a new game. As a former WOW player and die-hard pvper there just isn't enough people queing ranked. Regs is fun but not the same. Such a bummer as I really love this game. Has almost everything I was looking for MMO, Star Wars, awesome classes, easy gearing.... just not able to play the PVP aspect. Damn.

  5. TR is more alive than solos on SF. and pops practically every day on DM

This sounds good! Problem is I don't have a team. Would love to try team ranked.

  6. maybe you que on wrong time , because pop should be more frequent compare to ss defintely

I was queing from 8pm Central time until 11pm last night. Got 5 games during that time. Same 8 people in que every match. As a pvper that spams regs and would like to progress to ranked this is a bummer. It seems like the pvp community is very small. I screwed up in one game and got globabled (no healers were in que last night.) I spent the rest of the games being yelled at by the other players. Not really fun.

Maybe I should look for a different game...

  7. ambush have cooldown and dont reset with evasion, so you still have to wait the cooldown finish to be able to ambush instant again

Correct, but Ambush is a pretty short CD. Should still be able to take advantage of it.

  8. Set Bonus

Entrench (hunker down) is a sniper's most powerful ability in competitive pvp. It allows you to avoid all control (mez, hard stun, leaps, pushes, pulls) that other classes have to eat and allows you to stay in cover, healing and damaging with your main abilities. It's also a fact that we are most vulnerable out of cover since we lose our ballistic dampeners, HoT, and passive ranged defense.

For these reasons, I recommend the Established Foothold set over Precise Targeter (which is still a good set) in most pvp situations, particularly in any competitive play. The fact that you can be entrenched for over 65% of an arena combat round (set bonus + cover on roll and imperial preparation) is simply too good to pass up, and it's strong in warzones as well. Further, you get a 15% flat damage boost while entrenched, helping boost our sustained damage.

    Utilities

    Here's what I usually run:

    Skillful:

Ballistic Dampeners - Snapshot - Vital Regulators

Masterful: This changes depending on regs, solo ranked, and your opposition in team ranked

Typically: Seek Cover + Augmented Shields, then -

    Solo Ranked: + Reestablished Range

Team Ranked: +Evacuate, may trade Augmented Shields for Hold your Ground vs hardswap

Regs: +Reestablish Range, sometimes I take Series of Snares over Augmented Shields if I have a healer

    Heroic:

Tactical Retreat, Pillbox Sniper, + (Defensive Safeguards or Executioner, depending on damage or survivability focus)

    Tactical

This one comes down to preference, both Agitating Energies and B-O Differential Targeting System are fantastic. I prefer Agitating Energies in most situations- It's Cull Lite for Marksman spec, working in conjunction with the 15% entrench damage boost to round out our damage profile with more sustained damage.

I think Agitating Energies pairs best with Established Foothold, and B-O Differential Targeting pairs best with Precise Targeter's since you get 3 autocirts on ambush instead of 1 with Laze Target.

Longer post than I typically like to make, but hopefully it helped!

    Totally theorycrafting here:

Thinking about running the B-0 tactical. Repositioning set.

Add in the utility that reduces the CD on cover pulse. Imperial Prep utility. That should be 4 rolls. which should pair with the tactical nicely. My plan is to roll and drop bombs. Let me know if you have tried this.

  9. In terms of burst it is, Hatred has some burst only with Death Knell set, with Revelation set, it has literally none, but my opinion when it comes to DPS, I still think Hatred can pull more if you can keep up your DoT's ticking.

This is from yesterday with Revelation set.

It is a big nerf to that set, but I still think it's better than Revelation. Revelation could be really good if you had 100% chance crit for 6 sec everytime you Stride and not only from stealth, 'cause benefit isnt much tbh and it's only 6 sec which isn't alot to begin with.

How is hatred ATM? Are there buffs coming for it? I watched a video from Krea and it seemed like hatred was doing good....

  10. On DM solo ranked pops constantly. Due to the situation with the virus now I bet it even pops nonstop. Kids are not in school so 99% of the ranked populatiom is able to que during the whole day.

Isn't DM a european server? I'm in the US.

  11. Defel Spliced Genes is viable for any discipline. It has very strong defensive and offensive applications. Depending on your discipline and playstyle though, you may prefer a more specialized tactical.

Annihilation: Spiteful Saber will yield you a solid increase to your DPS and make using the DoTs less of a hassle in PvP. I would strongly recommend using this one over DSG.

Fury: Cauterized Coronary will add some extra damage, but I'm not sure I would take it over DSG.

Carnage: Fanged God Form makes resource management much easier and really increases your damage outside of your burst window. However, DSG and the Hidden Savagery utility have some really neat interactions with Ferocity stacks if you are into an alternative playstyle.

Ive been playing Carnage. I bought the Fanged God tact. It's pretty awesome. How is fury in comparison? I have a lot of fun with Carnage hoping it's viable.

  12. I don't know what the answer is to the problem but, we need a fix for solo ranked. There is just no regular que pops.

This really sucks for people who like to pvp. Reg's just isn't the same.

My suggestion is to increase the rewards. Right now waiting for 30+ minutes is not fun. Need more people queing.

    Thank you. Solid insight.

  14. 1st tier balsitic damperer, heal self and snap shot insant

2nd augmentted shield, movement increase after hunker down, lower cooldown on hunker , optional lower cool down on cc

3rd tier dodge increase 2 sec, roll heal and last you can do to lower cd on imperial prepartion or balistic heal or flashbang make take down instant and add more damage

reposition i know a guy who is high in rating use this , so i think in rank this set is viable because as sniper staying alive is challenge

Thank you for the feedback. I'm using most all of the utilities so thats good. Good to hear the set is viable for ranked.

  15. I'm a returning player. Got my sniper geared (no Augs yet). I'm running the tactial that increases Ambush damage after roll. I'm also running the Precise Targeter's armor. I'm thinking about buying the Repositioning Set. I need some advice/tips to up my game in PVP. Eventually want to focus on ranked.

What Utility points do you prefer for PVP?

Do you have any tips to help me perform better?

    How is the Repositioning Set?

  16. Thank you for confirming my suspicions about this set. I was hoping for some unexpected mechanics like an AOE missile or daisy chains. Utilities not working with the set makes it even worse.

Pretty much just verified for me that meteor brawler is the only set I'm going to need. The set balance in this game is not interesting because you don't have any real choices.

check out the patch notes. Looks like this set is getting buffed.

  17. Because i know it can get expensive and i'm saving up for that challenge, I just go with basic ones that benefit me in any way. Example: + periodic intensity, tech attacks, etc. Since i'm probably gunna stay IO, i'd go for periodic intensity. Burn the hottest. i'm thinking when i reach around 50 mil i'll start actually looking to make it work better for accurate results.

Have you tried solo ranked with this setup?

  18. Hello everyone! Warning it's about to be a biggest disappointed ever I had in SWTOR.

4 set bonus veteran ranger set gives you around 20% dmg on shoulder cannon for 6 sec. CD is 18 sec. Makes it completely useless 4 set in pvp due to other classes can resist or ion wave/searing wave. Range dps if you do not use your CC's can out range once animation of ion wave take place. Bottom line it's one of the most useless set bonuses for pvp.

6 set bonus. No it's does not Daisy chain off proc. Checked it many many times. Max it can do 14 rockets. And one more thing. Talent heal for rocket. HEAL does not proc off additional rockets. Only 7 rockets will heal you if you AP/Tactics spec.

Bottom line - one of the most useless set bonuses for pvp in general...

That sucks. Thank you for the the sad news.

  19. I've seen quite a few posts asking which is better for pvp and what to take for tacticals and sets. So a little background on me before i begin:

i was here from beta until i think 4.0. I witnessed the terrible nerf of arsenal in 1.1 until the rise once again a year or so later. I took a 2 year break and i'm back now enjoying the game on many levels.

So, which is better? It depends. If you are new to the class, take Arsenal. Its got lots of tools and a very easy rotation. If you survived our epic nerf and soldiered on, picking up the skills you need to at least make a difference in pvp, go IO.

    WHY?

IO doesn't need LoS to do its damage. It has a ton of dots and many players forget that we can self heal. So you can DoT and heal or just avoid that pesky sniper fire from 40m.

The Concentrated Fire set – (4) Gaining a stack of Supercharge increases your critical chance by 10% for 10 seconds. This effect can only occur once every 10 seconds. (6) Doing damage or healing an ally has a 10% chance to build a Supercharge and can only happen once per 3 seconds. After activating Supercharged Gas, your next Rail Shot or Mag Shot critically hits.

    AND

Energzier – The duration of Supercharge Gas and Supercharged Burn are doubled.

Mean your supercharged Gas is up very often. If you put your basic Dot+Incendiary missile +Serrated Shot on a target they will burn pretty darn fast. Add in Electronet and you have a helpless burning target. If you want to make sure even a juggaraut dies, take the talent Bag and Tag and just about anything that cannot purge dots will be burning to death, running for a healer or both. remember at 30% your dots do crazy more damage AND as long as you keep fighting you get a 10% crit chance bonus. I have my crit chance sitting at 58% most of the time and trust me, it buurrrrnnnnssss.

Also you have great tools like if you take the talent that makes missile blast a root its a great way to keep your targets from getting too far from your fire. Between rocket out and missile blast you should control the fight distance wise.

So why IO over Arsenal? Arsenal's main advantage is high Armor pen. that only works on 3 classes with any significance: Other mercs, PTs and Juggs. Sorcs, Imperial Agents and Maras all have less armor and better ways to mitigate your damage. Mercs, Maras, Juggs, and even IA have a reflect. You know what they can't reflect? Dots. Dot em up, and when you see them reflecting, just stop dps and heal yourself. Arsenal does have the benefit of being able to really make use of concussion missle with Power surge x2 without disrupting its dps too much though, so theres that.

Arsenal's tacticals seem lackluster to me. Thermo Nuclear Fusion is HIGHLY situational and makes you use fusion missle which has been nerfed into utter garbage. Atleast Missile blast can root AND for IO it can execute with a cheaper cost. Missile blast > Fusion Missle. Burning shot is a higher overall dps gain BUT...Arsenal isn't a dot class. Any healer can heal through its dot .Priming bolts can make priming shot hit HARD. BUT...with a 15 second CD it doesn't add enough damage for my tastes.

Heres one Caveat: IO is much harder to master. You have to be aware of dot timers and be VERY careful with heat management. Its far more difficult to master but once you get it, you can rain fire upon thine enemies!

So thats my take on it. If you have anything to add, feel free. IO Merc for life. This is the way.

Really great. I'm going to play IO, I feel it's more fun. Arsenal gets boring for me. What Amps are you using with IO for PVP?

    This post has inspired me.

    Thank you!

  20. Concentrated Fire+Energized Charges for set and tactical. Tag and Bag talent.

Start with serrated shot. use power surge if you need to. Follow immediate with IM so they visually hit at the same time. Then use TD , pop super charged gas ---> Magshot--->electronet--->power shot---> magshot. watch them burrrrnnnn.

This sounds cool. I'll give it a try. Sounds like some needed burst!
