I just got a new HP DV6T Quad edition with a 2GB AMD Radeon HD 7690M GDDR5 Discrete Graphics [HDMI, VGA], 8GB of RAM, a 750GB 7200 RPM HD, and a 2nd generation Intel® Quad Core i7-2820QM (2.3 GHz, 8MB L3 Cache) w/Turbo Boost up to 3.4 GHz processor.
1st Problem: SWTOR ran but had 4 FPS all the time. Figured out how to use the stupid switchable graphics which fails to let the not-so-computer oriented user know if their super expensive graphics card is actually being used or not. Also it lacks a simple off button.
2nd Problem: Sound wasn't working when I realized that HP has taken bloatware to an all new extreme and instead of being able to simply turn the volume up on my laptop, I have to open Beats Audio control panel and unmute the speakers.
3rd Problem: When I finally managed to set SWTOR under "High Performance" and hoped to God that my good graphics card was the one working, SWTOR just turned into a black screen. Tried to update my graphics card driver and AMD said my software was up to date. Tried to manually search for drivers and realized that 2GB AMD Radeon HD 7690M GDDR5 Discrete Graphics is apparently the wrong name. Gee thanks HP! False advertisement much? Anyways, then I tried to search on HP support and drivers and got 100 results for searching my laptops name. Tried to use the auto detect feature and got the name of every printer within a square mile and no laptop model. Tried to use CMD to see the model and the window is too small to show the model and the window won't resize big enough. Then I searched on Google and found the solution. Downloaded some driver and it did the trick.
4th Problem: SWTOR was back at 4 FPS and I was about to go to Virginia Tech and get chopper gunner when I realized the graphics had switched back to suck mode somehow.
5th and Final Problem: SWTOR still lags in PVP on lowest settings with shadows off...to the point where it actually has a big impact on my gameplay. It's almost impossible to click on an enemy player when they teleport 10 feet every second, not to mention that SWTOR tab targeting targets every player except for the one attacking you/closest to you/has the huttball.
Yes I am mad bro.
If anyone has a link to some magical driver or solution that can make SWTOR run decently in PVP on lowest settings on my freaking brand new maxed out laptop they might save my pillow from becoming a punching bag.
My internet sucks too but I'm pretty sure it's not the problem.
**Edit: Forgot to mention that I have a 2 min. load after every PVP match.
