  1. It's not a waste. The Razaer Naga offers so much in terms of binds though it has a high learning curve, and you almost have to force yourself to enjoy and even use it for the first week. I have no trouble at all using my thumb to hit any of the 1-12 buttons though it takes a lot of practice. Once I got used to it, I will never use anything else. It does everything I need and more. General setup 3 Quickbars: Quickbar 1: 1-12 Quickbar 2: Shift + 1-12 Quickbar 3: Ctrl + 1-12 Vent Push-to-talk: Mouse Wheel (quite convenient) Ultimately you need to use/play whats comfortable. Everyone has different bind setup. I have used all sorts of mice, and gaming keyboards but the naga is one of the best investments I have made for gaming. Hope this helps
  2. Though I can't say there is any one "perfect" spec for PvP I can help breakdown what specs can best be used in certain situations. As stated before, it is a matter of play style and execution , but the best thing I found when discovering what specs I liked the most was to test as many as I could. The one thing you must realize about the shadow class is that there is no other class in other mmo's like it. It is unique to Star Wars and has no definitive role, sort of a "jack of all trades, master of none" if you will. It is one of the main reasons there are so many "hybrid" builds utilizing different abilities, utility to capitalize on. Here are some of the builds I personally use and why: If you are looking to DPS: 31/0/10 - Has great survive-ability despite being almost a full tank build and focuses on casting and control rather than in your face melee combat. Focuses on the talents, Particle acceleration, Slow time, and Harnessed shadows. Play style involves kiting to build 3 stacks of harness shadows which can be used with force potency and a PA proc to get large hits with both project, and telekinetic throw. Also has great group play dynamics with a 10% damage reduction coming from Slow time, which is an aoe, and can hit/slow/debuff multiple targets. 27/0/14 - My "personal" favorite specializes in 1v1 scenarios but also functions well in group play. basically all the benefits from full KC (mentioned above) but swaps slow time for a much hard hitting AOE attack (Force in Balance) which can be placed to help interrupt a node cap from far away. Has all the survive-ability from KC but does more damage. 23/1/17- Another great hybrid build utilizing shadowstrike. This spec offers an "instant" force lift, and play style is more close-combat than the previous 2 mentioned above. However I cannot tell you how many times people open up on me in this spec with SS rather than waiting for the proc which reduces force consumed and increases its damage. Play it well, and you will be pleased with the single target damage. There are a lot more great builds, some Infil/Balance hybrids etc.. however these are the ones I can tell you work from personal experience. I would suggest staying away from full balance builds though they can pump out some nice numbers, they are super squishy and I have yet to lose a duel to a full balance shadow/sin. Take from that what you may. I do suggest playing around and see what you enjoy the most, Shinarika's guides are some of, if not the best in the SWTOR community, and as a person who plays with here and spars/test specs with her daily, there is always some new and exciting build waiting to be discovered. Hope this helps, here is a link for a video I made showcasing the 31/0/10 (Green saber footage) and 27/0/14 (Pink-purple saber footage), which may give you some insight on playstyle. Good Luck!
  3. Haha he is a good sport. We happen to be queued against each other and I had started recording before I even knew he was in the same game, let alone that he would attack my node =P. Normally I would not have used it but it is really good footage on how to 1v1 a hybrid shadow as a KC, since KC is not nearly as popular now. Kite, Kite, Kite 3 stacks of harnessed shadows and you can string together 12k-13k of damage (using force potency) as I did in the video. It is all in good fun
  4. With massive drops in subscriptions, and a handful of servers remaining, its obvious there a lot of things they need to fix. Cross server imo is all but a staple in today's mmo world, and if BW wants people to keep paying $15 a month, they need to offer what other mmo's currently do, either that or drop the sub price. I am fully supportive and hopeful for x-server in SWTOR, but I also feel that class balancing and working on the meta game in regards to PvP is vitally important. I will say that even with the small amount of servers left, even cross server would be repetitive after a few months, unless the implementation brings in more subscribers. The new X-Pac I know will involve rebalancing classes, incorporating new abiltites, and should either fix or hurt the meta game. This game needs cross server, but more importantly, it needed it when the game was thriving. Guess we will see how it goes. I for one, feel that X-server would yield positive results, and should be in BW's and EA's best interest. Also in response to the post above, people will act that way and do currently whether cross-server is here or not.
  5. Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. The guardian in that video (Macewinwar) is a fellow guildy working on his tank set.
  6. My cuddling goes a long way. But seriously though, best music in a video ever, and good gameplay. Even from a shadows perspective it is always fun to see a guardian make it across half the huttball arena in 2 moves. (Also viewers don't forget to check out my vid a few threads below )
  7. Great video and guide as always. Looking forward to you work in 1.7 and expac =)
  8. SWTOR GAME-WIDE VIDEO ARCHIVE: Rather than scouring Youtube or numerous pages on the forums to find player videos, this thread will be dedicated to sharing PVP videos from all servers, of all classes, builds, tutorials, montages, and theorycrafts. Please follow the format below: Character Info: Name Server: Guild: (if in one) Video Title: Subject: Link: By grouping all the videos together it should consolidate the search efforts on the viewer's behalf. I would ask to keep comments/critiques reserved for the actual video pages rather than in this thread so it does not get flooded with off-topic posts.
  9. The 1st full length video in my new Jedi Shadow PvP series playing: 27/0/14 - (pink purple crystal) - 31/0/10 - (Black Green Crystal)- This is not a burst damage montage but rather showcases 27/0/14 in a group play dynamic. Feel free to comment or ask questions below or on the Youtube channel. I am open to all criticism, recommendations. Hope you guys enjoy. (No med packs, Adrenals, Pocket healers were used) Produced with: Windows Movie Maker (will be upgrading to vegas shortly) Recorded with: Fraps (apologies for segments with low FPS, cpu is a bit slow for swtor) Music: Arkasia- Fall of the Republic TV on the Radio- Wolf Like Me Character Information: Name: Soultiger Server: Jedi Covenant Guild: Watchmen
  10. Hey all, I have yet to post a thread on our own server forum but thought this would be a good start as I am trying to get more involved in our community regarding PVP. This is the first full length video I have made and it features the 27/0/14 hybrid KC/Balance Build and the 31/0/10 Full KC build. Want to give a special thanks to Fisherprice, Dritzfury, Bloodcrazed, and Neb (there were others, sorry if I missed you) for an extremely fun night in PVP as I hope to have more like it. Kudos to all the PVP guilds, Imp or Pub for keeping the competition alive on our server. I truly love this game (though it needs some work) and regardless of faction or guild, we all keep this game alive. I look forward to whats in store for SWTOR PVP. Hope you all enjoy, I am open to any questions regarding spec/playstyle so feel free to comment below or on the video. Will also be doing videos on my Assualt Spec Vanguard in the near future.
  11. New lInk has been posted, and contains 4 more minutes of gamplay and a new ending as well as a few fine tunes. I added Huttball clips as a member pointed out were not in the original video.
  12. Will be posting a new link shortly, was finally able to squeeze in the huttball footage. I am ok with criticism, but I do personally believe there isn't a class which has yet to be OP in its own right: Bubble Stun Sages/Sorcs Assault Vanguards/Pyrotechs Smash Guardians/Juggs Smash Sents/Maras Hybrid Shadows Old School Scoundrel/Ops Burst DMG w/ adrenals (currently OP Gunslinger/Sniper) This leaves.......nope thats it, every single Class in the game has atleast 1 OP Tree/Spec/Build.
  13. If you watch, the mind trap was use the first time to prevent an interrupt on a cap, he broke the cc, his buddy landed so I used FiB. 2nd Time I use mind trap, a guardian lept in ang got a smash off, sap broken, large group, FiB Also for guard I did not use it last night as my guildie was working on his tank spec (guardian) and was guarding me throughout the night since we had no healer. If you check my buffs you will see I was guarded for most if not all the group combat, and as you may know, a guarded target cannot guard. So I changed my bars to not feature it exclusively. I also do have plenty of huttball footage, however too many input files made WMM lag, but will be sure to mix it up in later videos. Im going to go in today and see if I can compile the rest of the footage (4 more mins worth) maybe WMM will allow me to do so today. Thanks for the responses though guys.
  14. (EDIT: THIS LINK IS FOR THE NEWLY UPLOADED AND REDONE FULL LENGTH VIDEO) The 2nd video in my Jedi Shadow PvP continuing series playing 27/0/14. Hope you guys enjoy! Shout out to the rest of the Watchmen and LD50 for a great night of Warzones. I don't claim to be pro, just enjoy doing this. The FPS drops at times (due to fraps and my slow cpu) New videos will use Sony Vegas and also feature footage from my Assault Spec 50 Vanguard. Questions, Comments, Concerns? Feel free to post them below or on the channel.
  15. Also I bet all the "high" rated people are bringing their alts to these lol (nice to way to farm comms ) If and when I see some mains (2200+) losing to some pug teams it will restore my faith in this project to "really" balance the community.
  16. Unless your going to train everyone into being a pro-player, or let PUGS win games so they don't take the losses, I do not see how this will work. Seems to me this "queue" issue is more of a game issue than a server issue. Even if this works for a little, it is only a matter of time before certain teams start to stand out and stomping others, the queues will die again and the cycle continues. Nothing personal, just my .02. If it works, more power to you, no matter the person or guild, I am all for supporting PvP in this game. Good luck
  17. Yes because as you know "Kettlebell" (<--- who?) decides what the "standard" is in SWTOR for Expert PvP Play. You should read his stickied threads.......no? Watch his Expert PvP Videos and Guides? No again?..hmmmmm FFA is about as useful as tab targeting, which is about as useful as resolve, which is as useful as...well you get the idea. Just because SWTOR has features, doesn't mean they work as originally intended, or are perfect. Oh in reference to your other comment, I'd rather take 8 solid players, then 8 sub-par players relying on FFA to make them a better player. Also here is a pro tip, playing on a PvP server does not make you a better pvper......so I think you should sit down now.
  18. I agree. KC is mainly casting with only 2 real melee abilities that are worth wild being double strike, and spinning strike. This ends up making the play style utilize a lot of casting, kiting, and LOS. KC has been long out-shined in 1v1 and even group scenarios by a few different hybrid specs: 27/0/14- Ideal for 1 v 1 scenarios 23/1/17 - Ideal for group play to maximize damage, mainly just swaps slow time for Force in balance which is a much harder hitting and placed ability. Infil is one of the most enjoyable and fun to play (and watch) specs for shadows, though needs some improvement before readily playable again. Thank you and great question. I am new to video making and have longed to make a bind and setup video. To answer your first question regarding binds I personally use a Razer Naga, which has a total of 17 buttons. Only down side is since my entire rotation and movement are all on the same device, pressing hard or quickly will often jolt your screen, making it seem shaky (which happens in my video). For my first bar I keep it as a basic 1-12 setup, and row 2 is Shift+1-12. With my fingers placed on WASD my shift key is easily manageable though I use a 17"laptop . 3rd bar will generally have abilities not used in combat and abilities used before combat. CTRL+ works fine, but depends on your keyboard. This may not be optimal but is most comfortable for myself. When binding I generally only bind what is necessary and frequently situational. Things like Stances, Meditate I leave to the side (though when using mind maze it doesn't hurt to heal up a bit ). It is always good to get rid of clutter on your screen and in your hotbars, though there are abilities and adrenals that are not priority that I use time and time again in WZS which I make sure to have on hand. Interfacing is great in this game as everything can be made custom. One of the most important things I cannot stress enough is to have excellent placement of enemy cast bars for interrupts, and to keep your character bar extremely visible and easy to see. This will help when waiting for procs and to see what debuffs/buffs are on you without having to search your screen. In the end it is what is comfortable for you. Yes, yes, and more yes. The best way to learn and know your class is to play every spec, and keep things fresh. Even if at times your a trying a build that is not optimal you never know what new hybrid spec is waiting to be discovered. Field respec will certainly add some spice to your daily pvp return, do what you can to keep it interesting! Believe it or not, the person who said this is a nice kid. He has had some hard times online, and as we all know from these forums and everyone on the internet, If there is an opportunity to put down, belittle, condescend, or make fun of someone there are people who log on everyday waiting to bash others (and sadly most if not all are adults or people who should know better.) I don't take offense to his comment and I know it is nothing personal. Hes just a kid who has been trolled by people on our server and I get it. No harm done.
  19. Can't expect pugs to..well..do anything. But every now and then some will setup for you, I've had sages pull my shadow to the goal line or to upper tiers, not to mention some good transcendence pops from sents. They are out there, just not too common. Refreshing when they turn up though.
  20. Ohhhh you mean the part where the same "assassin" (check the name) I 1 v 1 'd in the clip before came back and attacked a random half recruit geared healer which I had guarded? You should actually view and comprehend the footage first before you post another failed attempt at condescending sarcasm.
  21. A crit on ion pulse will not be missed, maybe on stockstrike, but this build will use a full tank set. As stated, not a dps build, but a tank build with a dps spin. Ill take a hit on crit damage for an 18 second 20% accuracy debuff that affects all targets and ammo regen.
  22. Evuo, I revamped the build to 13/28/0 adding passive regen and 1 point in havoc training. This thread is to try somthing new, instead of being condecending maybe help come up with solutions instead. In the shield specialist tree outside of ion shield, the rest is merely utility/shield/and regen management. Having storm as a gap closer to get up close for a tank class that is lackluster "up close" due to no defensive cooldowns is a bad idea. Outside of some roots and more shielding abilities obselete in PVP, I disagree with you completely about a 31pt tank.
  23. There is nothing tanky in regards to PvP in terms of the "shield talents" in the ironfist build which was viable, only in terms of white damage at best. This spec takes away those shielding talents and puts a bit more effort into the dps function while not revolving around it. Also if you want some sort of passive regen, you can retalent the smoke grenade into the shield cylinder though most attacks are not shielded in PvP. Not sure how effective that would be but I altered the build because you are right about the ammo regen. Thank you for your input. Will need to test to prove efficiency.
  24. It did if played correctly. Also i fixed the talent for the decrease cooldown on harpoon. 3% plus endurance is used because the spec is capable of moderate damage, but is not focused around it, which also explains the smoke grenade. If this build were centered around only damage, it would be just another DPS build with no intention of having any tank functionality in which this case Assault/pryo still has top damage in the class.
  25. You are correct, I had revamped the build for decreased cooldown on harpoon. Thank you. Also this is not the final version of the spec, tweaks can be made which is why I posted the build on the forums. It is just an idea I will be testing. No matter what we build each tank class has its own specialization, this is merely attempting to take a lower rated, non-pvp viable, underplayed class and prove some of its potential. Also Vanguards were capable of high damage until they were nerfed, Ironfist was a good example.
