  1. hey me again.... i would say go ranged rather than sentinal route just b/c you have so many snares and stuns its hard for a melee to kill you. ok here i got 35 range i can do my 31 pt talent and my vital shot and my shrap bomb that also decreases speed 30% or so. i can then leg shot and channel my wounding shot. if he gets in range i can kick 'em in the bal l s and run away or go into cover and pulse detonator him away back to range if he is still alive i can throw my grenade that stuns and then put 2 more dots on him and run away and leg shot again etc. if your up against a tank or someone with heavy armor your instant cast spell can get through most of it plus your dots for the most part ignore most of that armour. the beauty of dots is they still do dmg when your dead b/c they last for 20 sec or so. kinda sad but sometimes i do over 1/2 the dmg of my group. i've yet to get freighter fly by my lvl 50 cybertech grenade don't use any stims or buffs or trinkets haven't got 9% more cunning talent yet 6% more wounding shot dmg 10 more energy etc so dmg will only go up as you gain more lvls. not a lot of people play df and if they do they are not like me who lvled up df from lvl 1 and don't know how to use a lot of the skills. that is that one skill that you can use under 30% health usually that 31 pt talent a vital shot shrap grenade and channel and that instant below 30% usually will kill anyone. if they are still ticking speed shot or whatever the other instant is or even pew pew basic attack will finish 'em off. there are so many abilities i get them mixed up sometimes in names speed quick etc lol. instead of going 3%accuracy talent i plan on going 15% more sab charge and aoe since shrap is an aoe and i use bo th of those 2 skills a lot. also got thermal granade and my cybertech grenade for more aoe dmg and freighter flyby. hope that helps. if you really want to play melee maybe you should try scoundrel even with the buff they are still good. most people got mad and quit but the developers said in the beginning that someone should only loose 20% life in opening stun not 60% which was happening. so not sure why they are so mad. pick one class and stick with it through ups and downs eventually your wave will be on top. even when your wave is down they will know your good b/c of your skill not b/c your class is overpowered. i like being one of the less played classes anyways. most of those suck and have no idea what they are doing. just try to be the best you can be and not copy someone else. there is really no set rotation b/c every situation is different. if you take out the healers your pvp buddies will love you and keep those dots on people trying to cap. good luck.
  2. hey man thanks for posting.... i love df gunslinger and all i do is pvp. usually top on dmg right now i'm only lvl 40 and still learning my new skills but can do 200k usually which isn't too bad. i saw a you tube video of a guy that almost did 600k as df gunslinger but he was 50 and had the best gear on. and had an almost perfect run of not many deaths. if you were smart you would wait till your 40 to go dirty fighting but i did it the old fashion way and was dirty figher from lvl 1 till now. i'm like you wanted the mobility and didn't like the cover thing all that much. plus i didn't want to be like 99% of the population and go gunslinger. the beauty of df is your dots and they can't cap if they have a dot on them. so if i'm running up on 3 people about to cap i can dot all of them and they won't cap until after my buddies get there or i rez and run back lol. pvp is all about crowd control. i have dirty kick, grenade stun, pulse detonator, leg shot, and escape and dodge just to name a few. now that i'm 40 i do my lvl 31 talent my 2 dogs and my channel which does a ton of dmg. energy is an issue so make sure you get energy talents like one that gives you 1 energy on crit during your channel you can pick up some energy there. try to go full crit gear for this very reason or at least as much as you can. right now i'm using the full lvl 40 pvp gear myself. in pvp you don't usually live forever especially with no healer and you do have that 50 energy skill like every min and a half or so. i just go crazy with dots if i have energy. if your pew pewing to save energy in pvp your probably playing it wrong. pvp is kill them as fast as you can. of course i won't splurge on high skill abilities if they are almost dead. 1 on 1 its pretty hard to get killed by anything other than a scoundrel or maybe a healer b/c they can outheal your dmg sometimes if they are higher lvl and you don't interupt their casts. besides that not really scared of anything. tracer missle just interupt it or los them. you get sprint at 15. i still use cover though for pulse detonator for sab charge and charged burst and some of the defensive tactics but most of the time i am not in cover. sab charge for example can help if you really need to burn someone down like if you're taking on 2 on 1 and really need to kill one guy fast. just my 2 cents.
  3. thanks for reading my posts. and thanks for your time in replying. thanks for any constructive criticism and opinions. the ultimate goal is to make us better players. this is part 2 ok i'm only lvl 35. to the guy that made the sticky you have great posts and appreciate all your hard work helping our class and player base. again i will say that i am kinda against special snowflakes people that try to use the hybrid builds. dirty fighting is the HIGHEST energy tree and sab is the 2nd highest energy tree. this is to the guy that was talking about hybrid not the sticky guy. and your rotation was armour reduction flurry ability flurry ability flurry. there is no wonder you have to do flurry between every ability. and to the sticky guy i have watched that pvp 50 dirty figher video you posted and i'm not really impressed he did i think 200k dmg at lvl 50 i'm lvl 35 and i can do 150k dmg. but i guess it was ok. right now as a lvl 35 i'm wearing like lvl 29 gear. i hope when i'm lvl 50 and have full epic pvp gear and all my skills and abilities i will increase my dps more than 50k. i have lvled up mostly all by pvp. i'm not a pro but i've played enough pvp to help. in that video of that guy, again this is on the sticky under the df spec of the lvl 50 player in huttball. he didn't even use leg shot at all. its hard to say what the perfect rotation is. to me i'm putting my pts first 31 into df so i haven't even got to hemo shot or 9% more cunning or 6% more dmg to wounding shot or 15% more aoe dmg or 10 energy yet or freater fly by. i spam vital shot on as many people as i can sure it costs energy but b/c i have a high crit i get a ton of energy back if i run out of energy or low i use cool head which gives me 50 if that isn't enough i can use my heal/energy ability or die. as to whether you use hemo first then vital then sharp then wounding or whether its vital/sharp/hemo/wounding i don't know b/c i don't even have hemo yet i'm still only lvl 35 ha. but i can flash grenade (stun) leg shot (snare) dirty kick (stun melee range) pulse denotator ( aoe knock back) depending on the situation. if i'm in hutball i might open with a leg shot to keep them stationary go into cover do sab charge and quick shot ( after reading the forums might take that off and just go with flurry) ; if i don't have time to go into cover vital/sharp (also 30% slow) wounding shot. i agree that i think its quick shot and flurry do about the same dmg so i think i will save a lot of energy going that route. all thet objection games like voidstar/capture this point they can't capture if they have dots so if i see 3 guys near it and if sharp is on cooldown i will dot all 3 run over there duck down pulse detonator. if i'm cc'ed i usse escape, if i'm being targeted i use my bubble or the 3 second immunity skill etc. all kinda depends. but you got the main jist of vital/sharp/wounding you could even do wounding first since that is a slow if talented. the reason i get so high dmg is b/c of those dots i might be dead but that dmg is still ticking away and its so funny to see me get credit for kills after i'm already d ead and my dots are still ticking away. even with my high vital shot spam b/c of my high crit and liberal usage of cool head and recooperate i have few energy issues. and i'm almost on par with the lvl 50 in dmg as a lvl 35 with crap gear not all my skills and missing many of the main df skills which come at the top tiers of the tree. if i have time to take cover and get off some high powered abilities few second casts i do that but often times i don't so i'm running and gunning dotting and ccing. i use leg shot a ton i'm like i said shocked that lvl 50 didn't even have it on his bar. i use pulse detator to push people in the fire or in the green crap on hutball etc or away from capping. we have a ton of cc abilities/snares and 2 abilites to get out escape and if tallented that one that decreases threat that also can remove movement imparring effects since pvp is all about cc i tend to give that one the edge over hold ground quick getaway (recommend dirty trickster) but like i said its all opinion. if a hybrid sab/df tree works for you so be it that's cool and great. i'm here to tell you as a dirty fighter 31 which is the highest energy tree i have few energy problems even when spamming vital. now if you don't have crit and have power then you might have issues. i love dirty fighting and even at lvl 35 with several lvl 49s/48s on my team i'm still top 3 dmg usually sometimes top. so as far as rotation kinda depends. voidstar for example i go up have my buble on to start when i'm charging in i can flash grenade 3 players or so then leg shot another and then dirty kick another. then while my whole team is rushing right and i'm ccing left i can stand in the middle and hit my 3 sec immunity ability and escape if cced duck down and pulse generate and my team has already planted the bomb. i would only use the armor decreasing ability vs high armour guys or bosses in pvp squishes don't have much armour and using flurry every other ability to me is not necessary when your objective is to kill people fast now on a pve 10 min boss fight yes flurry in between. i never use flurry and i rarely have energy issues i use quick shot which i will now change to flurry so should help my energy even more so. but in conclusion cc is your friend snare kick leg shot pulse generate flash grenade cybertech grenade (which i don't even use yet more dps) first then i can hurt them while they can't hurt me. and always before i die i tab vital tab vital dot as many as i can sharp thermal grenades aoe etc. hope that helps. again this is my opinion and i respect your opinions. and thanks for sharing yours. i'm only trying to help and offer my tips. again i'm only lvl 35 and have basically leveled up in pvp think i'm like valor rank close to 40 now. thanks:) i already bought the full lvl 40 pvp gear i'm sure my dps will go up a lot when i am 40 since i'm only using like lvl 25-29 gear atm.
  4. hey guys. how are yall today. i will like to share my thoughts and opinions as well on the subject. and thanks for your sticky guide. to the original poster will first state my opinion on the spec you posted. df tree in my opinion 31 pts in df. you have a choice of hold ground/dirty trickstar/quick getaway. dirty trickstar gives you a get out of jail free card as it helps you get out of a stun or movement impairing effect like escape number 2. hold ground i think decreases your bubble and pulse generator. quick getaway decreases dodge and escape time i believe. personally i would either take either hold or dirty 2/2. another optional that i like and will say is mandatory is the slow 30% on sharp. i like it but that is also optional i guess. the skills you skip in the tree are holdout defense and flash powder; holdout gives your pistol whip more dmg and holdout defense decreases accurary 20% 8 sec. i guess some might like these but in my opinion i would skip those. and out of hold ground/dirty trickstar and quick getaway you only get to pick one of those 3 and 2/2 pts. sab tree 3/3 streetwise 9% more cunning 2/2 brawler 10 more energy i would say these are mandatory as dirty fighting is most energy heavy tree and spec need crit to get more energy back from bleeds and buff to cool head in other tree. most will disagree with me but i plan on going 3/3 independent anarchy the one that increases sabotage charge dmg and all aoe dmg 15%. now thermal grenade which i don't use that much and scrap bomb which i use a ton are both aoe's and i also use sabatage charge a lot so to me 15% dmg increase on 2 abilities i use a lot is a net dps gain. but i would say its optional. gunslinger tree 2/2 steady shots which increaes wounding shots 6% dmg and speed shot i think the above is mandatory since wounding shots is your main attack or one of your main. here is where i'm going to get some disagreement but this is my opinion. most have 3/3 sharshooter which increases accuracy and tech accurary 3%. to me 15% more aoe dmg and 15% more dmg to sab charge is better than 3% accuracy but that's up for debate.
  5. hey. 180-200 is between scavenge materials 3 and 4 i believe. like i said platesteel is 3 i think and is found on na shadaa top left of map on the first quest there. i just did my class quests there and left that planet. for grade 4 materials i had to use my guy to scavenge b/c i'm not high enough yet to get 4 materials. i assume they are on tatooine but i haven't been there yet. i've been doing pvp. hope that helps.
  6. i'm lvl 24 and i gather materials while i lvl. when i was on the 20-24 planet which i wasn't on long i found a spot where 4 droids and a spawn of scavenge materials and i farmed that for an hour or two. those were grade 3 materials. i think tatooine is the lvl 24 planet but i haven't quested there yet. you said 180-200. well i just hit 200 and some cybertech and i'm like 250 scavenging. na shadar is the planet that drops platesteel i think and that's what i needed a lot of. i just reverse engineer everything i make to get mats back to get more mats and learn blue plans. i can't remember the planet before na shadda. might of been taris. there is one spot on taris with all droids and i would farm that area for a while. hope that helps some. i'm only lvl 24 and i can make like lvl 37 mods so my crew skills is ahead of my lvling. uw is my other its like 150ish little behind. right now i'm just kinda pvping and the gold from pvp is good so i sent 2 guys out do a pvp and repeat. so i gained a few lvls that way.
  7. hey guys and i apologize for loosing my cool. i overreacted a little. hope you guys can forgive me. can i get a hug? maybe a kiss? muah. ok friends again? sry for my comments that offended anyone. its just i felt like you guys were calling me an idiot if i used pistol whip when its a high dps ability after dirty kick 4meters your already in range. and in pvp guy might be low almost dead already so instead of letting someone else get the killing blow i will probably try to finish 'em off if i can. but you guys maybe 100% right alcrity maybe better even for df tree. someone said it helps on one of the top tier talents. that's good news as people before had said it wasn't good or could be but more data is needed to see. your right i guess cover screen would be better. most of the time right now i'm at max range so i'm not really getting focused at all. i'm there is 2 on 1 situation i'm pretty much dead anyways lol. but you offered a good suggestion and i'll have to try it out. like one guy said all kinda depends on play style. only point i was trying to make was that hybrids are high energy expecially df and sab. and df is the highest energy build i was suggesting taking energy talent. in pvp doesn't matter as much but for pve situations that extra could be huge in end game raids. thanks for letting me share. sry i lost my cool:)
  8. please sticky this. if you go to the website and to the left hand column you can find the other builds. this guy was a game tester 8 months i believe. thanks. http://swtorsniper.blogspot.com/2011/12/06-marksman.html
  9. to answer the guy right above me. first you know that dirty fighting is the HIGHEST energy tree but yet you skip the energy talent? bad idea. 2nd you say you want to use dirty fighting and cover. the entire reason to get the dirty fighting tree well one reason is to not use cover. df tree is mobile for pvp yes you can still use cover but mobility is where its at. i can camp up behind cover and everyone will be out of range where with df i can move up hit them put a few dots etc run back away while they are leg shot then i can maybe drop into cover etc. sum is up df highest energy tree yet you skip energy talent. you get cover abilities when df doesn't even use cover much. both make no sense. and like i said before just b/c you choose not to use pistol whip after a dirty kick when your already in melee range doesn't mean i'm an idiot b/c i do. i think your the idiot when you don't use a melee ability when your already in melee range. and your not a very good player if you don't use all your abilities. like the original poster said he NEVER uses that ability. i guess he's calling bioward idiots also b/c he's so elite and good that he will never use an ability the designers gave us to use. like they said smuggler is the hardest class to play and master. maybe the OP needs to play a easier class.
  10. hey guys. like i said i'm no expert. and i'm only lvl 24 right now so i'm a long way from 50. i was just pointing out that although hybrid builds look good on paper and in theory when most of the abilities are 30/20 energy each you can go out of energy pretty fast and would be hard to do a say half sab half df build for pve end game raids. pvp sure i guess you can blow your entire energy bar in 6 seconds kill someone and then walk in the lava and die to get a full energy bar ha. in df most dmg is on the end so you can fight a sage go out of energy in 6 sec they will be at 1/2 health take away your buffs and just heal up and kill you while you have no energy. right now i'm using cover a lot when i go pure df later on when i'm like 40 or so i don't plan on using cover as much. when i'm in cover and say i'm questing and corso grapples a guy to him he's right next to me so i dirty kick pistol whip. i'm still in cover and i'm not moving. then i can do that pulse thing that knocks them back. i appreaciate your constructive criticism about choosing alacrity over pistol whip, but to say that i'm an idiot for using pistol whip and that i should never be in melee range and that i should never use it is unfair to me. i'm not talking about just pvp situations as i just started to pvp but pve. if nothing else looks cool to me to kick 'em in the nuts then smack 'em in the head. when using corso every single mob he's going to grapple to you and so your in cover in melee range next to the mob. 1/2 the classes are melee and dirty kick does have a cooldown so your going to be in melee range whether you like it or not at some point. you have to be in 4 meters to use dirty kick anyways they are stunned 4 sec or so right? takes 1 sec to use pistol whip and you still have 3 sec to run away in which i use that leg shot to slow them down some more plus the talent of speed to dirty kick still gives me plenty of time. alacrity especially for dirty fighting has very few skills from what i've read that actually effect it. for gunslinger i'm sure it will help more but df you won't even be using cover much and especially not much in pvp that's one reason to go df to not relly so much on cover. thanks for the constructive criticism and feedback though. i could be 100% wrong but every other post i've read said that alacrity was garbage especially for df tree which is run and gun not cover based mostly and more mobile. i do know later on you get that alacrity 1-2 min cooldown 20% more or something buff. and to the OP i aplogize i didn't see some of the pure builds all i saw was the hybrid ones. just wanted to warn people beware of the high energy cost and don't count on bleed crits to get energy back. you take the highest energy tree df and couple it with the 2nd highest energy tree sabateur and its like taking a fat lady to mcdonalds to get a super size 20 piece nugget meal. just asking for disaster and as far as end game pve content you would be out of energy in less than a minute and pew pew ing flurry for 90 sec then having another 6 sec splurge. so instead of people saying hey thanks i didn't realize energy cost was so high most of the good abilities cost 30 energy highest of any skill in game. instead of that i get criticized and try to make me look like an idiot. no the idiot thing is posting all these stupid half df half sab builds that are not viable builds i linked the poster that has been a real game tester like 8 months or so not a weekend turd that got to 20 one beta weekend and thinks they know it all. so put your foot in your mouth shut up read the post b/c obviouly he knows 100 times more than you do. HYBRID BUILDS FOR DF/SAB ARE NOT PVE VIABLE END GAME!!!!!!!! STOP POSTING HYBRID BUILDS LIKE THEY ARE GOOD OR VIABLE B/C THEY ARE NOT. THE ENERGY COST IS TOO HIGH. http://swtorsniper.blogspot.com/2011/12/building-lethalityengineering-hybrid-is.html again here is the post you guys should be reading this is a guy that has played a lvl 50 gunslinger 8 months and has tried all the builds. not a little turd that played for a week and think they are God b/c they hit 50 2 days ago. this guy has been 50 for 8 months! and has tried every spec every build as it was his job to do so. everythign is on that website i linked every single posible build for those too lazy to look. "(if you click the above link and go to left hand column all the other builds are there this is why a hybrid of half sab and half df isn't a good build and for a "expert" to post stupid builds that aren't viable and teach others to do the same is a moron yes OP talking to you buddy and if you don't use all your abilities you just suck learn to play noob sauce. you can be in your box while i'm out of the box kicking your butt. i suck in pvp but i'm sure i can kick your sry idiot self hey lets use only 1/2 the skills we have access too b/c i'm never going to use a melee ability moron) Playstyle: Massive single-target burst. You're basically a cover-dependent Sniper (i.e. to take advantage of the in-cover energy bonus) with a few new tricks. You can't run around as this type of Lethality build. I used my regular "Marksmanship" sniper abilities on standard targets and saved DoT+Cull for Strong/Elite targets. Pros: Very high damage in a short window. Cons: Unsustainable energy usage. Cull uses 30 energy (~1/3 of your bar) and is on a nine-second cooldown. In order to make Cull hit well, you also have to have both of your poisons (Corrosive Dart and Corrosive Grenade) on your target. This is only worthwhile on strong or armored targets. You're still pretty much drained after one rotation. Verdict: It's fun, but impractical. It also eats energy faster than about anything I've ever seen (including the old Engineering tree!). I could see some applications for this spec as a build in PvP, but even then I wouldn't recommend it because of the energy concerns. In PvP you want to be able to use your CC abilities and many of those cost energy. This build demands a large amount of energy and locks you down into one role: single-target burst DPS. You don't even have the option of "sustained" DPS anymore. I'm of the opinion that the Lethality tree needs a little help right now, especially compared to the Marksmanship and Engineering trees. Although the Lethality playstyle can be fun it still comes with prohibitively high energy costs."
  11. hi thanks for posting. thanks for taking the time to update this guide. the only criticism i have is that for the sab and dirty fighting specs you have mostly hybrids instead of mainly pure builds. i am choosing to go df as i want to be different i do not want to be like 99% of the gunslinger population and go with the gunslinger tree. so that left me with sab and df to choose and since df is more mobile and less on cover and more dots that is what i picked. although the good skills don't come till later so i was messing around some with sab to start. i caution from trying to get people to go hybrids. df is already the most energy heavy tree and then couple that with an already high sab tree and your asking for disaster. most of the dmg is back end and the skills are all at a high cost. 30/30/20/20 wow 4 abilities and your already out of energy now spam flury and wait for that 1min30 sec cool head if talented if not wait 2min. here is a very good article explaining it. http://swtorsniper.blogspot.com/2011/12/building-lethalityengineering-hybrid-is.html this is empire but the tool tips are identical and this article uses the tool tips so its relevant to us. i'm still leveling so i'm not expert either. so i am not a know it all. i just am letting you know what another poster had said that also had spend many hours lvling up different 50 builds. i am not against hybrids totally just pointing out that b/c of energy its not a viable build going half sab half df and i agree the top tier sab talent is good if not better than shrap in df. the article goes on to say that scoundrel hybrids can be a little easier on the energy. http://db.darthhater.com/skill_calc/smuggler/gunslinger/#::e3fe6fe4fe2fef12ef6ef16efe: that is the build i'm currently thinking of going. 31 df/2 sharp/8 sab the 3 points i put in sab for 15% aoe dmg and more dmg to sab charge is not mandatory. since sab charge is the highest dmg ability why not have your highest dmg ability do 15% more dmg? in df tree i choose the pistol whip over alacrity. the pistol whip i actually use quite a bit and its a high dmg ability. why not have 10% more dmg to an ability you use often and hits hard. i'm lvling up with corso and when he grapples and enemy i can dirty kick from cover and then pistol whip df i will not be using cover much but to maybe use sab charge. even if i don't use the sab charge just the 15% more aoe dmg to thermal grenade could be worth it. to me 15% more dmg is better than 3% ranged and tech accruracy. fighting spirit and bravado are musts i would say for df as they are the energy talents and this is the highest energy tree. remember how slow your energy returns when your below a certain lvl. i picked up steady shots in sab for wounding shots increased dmg mainly which is one of df's top tier talents. hold your ground, quick getaway, flash powder, black market mods i skipped in df but the dirty trickster 2/2 is optional and could be changed. since your not using cover maybe the cooldown on defense screen could be more useful. not sure but seems removing negative effects on yourself is never a bad thing.
