  1. I'll try to get access to it again later tonight and take a screenshot. Definitely badly bugged right now though. You might have to make a new character, use the item to unlock it, and then pull up the decorations pane for the first time to see it? Could just be hit or miss.
  2. Wow, used to play with and against him a lot. He was solid for a long time. Mad respect.
  3. If you log on to an alt, you can see what the new one looks like- I noticed it in passing when I was on an alt. They looked something like the benches on the Arrangement: Speeder Station. I know it displayed the previously available model on my main who I had used the old version on- I suspect the new item was supposed to have a different name.
  4. It's not that you're wrong- but they're mad at you (and at the system) because you're intentionally holding them back by not being as prepared as you can possibly be. They're 'bullying' you because they feel that you're bringing their rating down by insisting that you learn on their time and their rating. It would be kind of like me walking up to you while you're doing something you enjoy (reading a Philosophy book for example) and insisting that you teach me how to understand it- then you being told by the teachers that you MUST teach me how to read that book, and you can't read any further in the book until you get me to the same level. By then, you would have to go back and re-read the sections that you'd recently finished- even if it took you months to read those sections. Kind of like a Kindergartener asking a Philosophy student how to read books, and not allowing the Philosophy student to proceed with their own reading until the Kindergartner can read Philosophy books. (Extreme example used to demonstrate the perspective of the people bullying- may or may not reflect the specific situation.) As far as why other people were asking for your character name, there's two possibilities. One is that they want to teach you. The other is they want to know when you're online, so they can queue on the opposing faction and kill you repeatedly / ensure they don't get paired with you. Now for the constructive part. How to learn? First, know your class. You may be clearing NiM, I don't know how skilled you are- but you can always be better. Read guides online on how to maximize your damage output. Watch the people who are extremely skilled, and look at how they react to how opponents attack them. Practice maximizing your damage output by attacking training dummies. Know how to stay alive in situations when your opponents should have killed you with ease. If you just learned about keyboard versus mouse turning, you may also want to look up keybinding- these two things are integral to being competitive. It's also important to practice in regular WZs- most of the successful ranked players can single-handedly change the course of regular WZs. Second, learn from opponents- best way to do this is grind at Unranked Warzones, and learn how to deal with the opponents you're going against. Learn when to attack them, when to fall back. When to help your teammates out, which opponents are likely to kill you and how to dodge them- because in Ranked Warzones, there's likely going to be several of them trying to kill you. Study in particular when to use your crowd control abilities. Third, study the game types. Arenas are the environment that Ranked Warzones occur in. Learn how to use their objects to your advantage- be it line of sighting opponents to interrupt their casts, knocking opponents off of cliffs/bridges, or anything else. And so will others who pay for the game- including call out people that they feel aren't prepared, and tell them to stop dragging the team down. That happens even in top tier teams, although they tend to be constructive about it. This would be fine and not result in bullying if the system matched teams based on the ratings of players. A chicken vs the egg phenomenon. It currently doesn't, because there aren't enough players in queue at the same time- so the worst players on the server are matched up with the best. The best lose a lot of rating for each loss, while they barely get any for victories. This leads to frustration, bullying, and the best players not queuing any longer (likely losses outweigh potential gains) or switching to the opposite faction. When they stop queuing on your faction, the Solo Ranked Queue typically stops popping for your faction- or a lot of new players queuing, which sounds like what you want. So that's a possibility. There are vocal top tier players in most (all?) games that would rather bully you into learning in the unranked game rather than teach you how to play in the ranked arena. And they certainly don't want to teach you how to play your class at the skill level needed to succeed in ranked arenas, because they're going to lose rating while teaching you. Again; the system is designed to accommodate for players queuing with no gear- or no skill- it's just not able to do so because there aren't enough players queuing. So the top tier players are left with either coaching dozens of new players, quitting, or bullying them out of the queue. Coaching guarantees a loss of rating; quitting prevents them from gaining rating; bullying gives them a chance at continue to gain rating. Only one of these results in a potential gain for top tier players, so some of them are going to go to that option. End result? You're being bullied because other players feel that you're bullying them by not allowing them to play their game. You're right- you do have every right to be there. They're also going to ask you to not be there. Realistically, they should be queuing in Group Ranked- but that rarely pops. Another chicken vs. the egg problem. Interestingly, both chicken vs. the egg problems could be solved by Bioware implementing some form of Cross-Server technology or concentrating the Ranked PvP player base.
  5. I'm really, really bored so going to respond to a few points. Regarding clicking: there's been arguments about this for a long, long, long time. I'm going to hazard a guess and say you're turning using "a" and "d" or some other keybinds. That's bad, because it takes a long time to turn the camera- compared to holding the right (or left) mouse button and swerving as needed. If you ARE using the mouse to turn, then you're not clicking abilities while turning- and this is just as bad as turning with the keyboard. The ability to quickly turn the camera is integral to RWZs because it allows you to be aware of where your teammates and opponents are- positioning, as well as their health totals. Keybinds have other benefits, but that's something that's been discussed in depth elsewhere on the internet- google it if you want to. As I said, a pro might be able to click- but they're going to have elite ratings to show for it, and carry inferior teammates. On using Focus because it is simpler than using Vigilance- neither spec is particularly complex but Focus is a lot easier to fail with. Vigilance gives you a lot of abilities that reduce the damage you take, both that you activate and that you don't have to activate. You should be putting out optimal damage to a single target no matter the spec you're in- try pounding on a Training Dummy as Vigilance to get used to using it with keybinds. Then try doing the same with Focus. I'd also suggest using something like Parsec to monitor how much damage you're doing, and reading guides online for PvE to see how to put out as much damage as possible. On dying in regular WZs because people gang up on you and it being normal- no, it really isn't. Good players don't get "Unbeatable" because they're somehow magically not getting targeted. They're getting it because they understand positioning, understand team play, and understand when to attack and when to support their teammates. These are critical components to RWZs, and really any sort of team play. I'll give you that occasionally there aren't healers on your team. You can mitigate that by bringing your own in queue with you, or playing passively- not charging in and getting yourself killed, but instead charging on their people who charge in. Or hitting people who stand on the fringe of the fight. On Killing Blows- PVP isn't about putting up damage numbers, it's about winning fights. I'm going to look at Arenas, because they're what the original post was about and I don't care if you're a pubstar. The two pictures you linked that showed Arena rounds, your team lost the round. The opponents didn't die. Arenas aren't about doing damage- I'd rather do 30k and win than do 100k and lose. What's the difference between those two? When I do 30k damage, my healer heals for 100k instead of 20k (because I slow down the people killing them), and my teammates stay alive longer- and secure killing blows. Then they did their job, and you did yours- killing blows indicate who is being aware of the fight and noticing when opponents have low health, then finishing them off. You should always be looking to hit people who are down at that .1% health at all times as well- because it means they're out of the fight. Ideally, if somebody ever gets to 40% health, you're attacking them. That's what arenas are all about. There's no such thing as a dishonorable kill in a WZ, and there shouldn't be such a thing as a 1v1 in RWZs- those happen because you have set up an isolation play for one of your people to take out one of theirs, or its the last people standing. On Taunts? Yeah, they can help make up for other players' skill- it buys the other players a chance to make something happen. It's the difference between them dying in 5 seconds and 6.5 seconds- more than enough for good players to make something happen. I've prevented 12k in damage by using a single Challenging Call before. That's 12k less damage one (or split amongst several) of my teammates took in a 6 second window- more than enough to be the difference between life and death. Regarding paying attention to your teammates- good. You want to be near them at times. There's also a time when you need to extend away from them- from CCing opponents, to securing killing blows. You also want to keep your teammates alive while you're near them- hitting Freezing Force, Awe, Challenging Call, Force Stasis, and popping grenades when the situation requires. Knowing those times comes with practice that is best obtained in regular WZs. Queue Dodging? You don't know when it happens. It means they added you to their friends list, and check to see how many good / bad players are on and not running regular WZs / Ops before queuing. It's also possible that you're queuing at off-hours for the server, or you're just on a dead / dying server. But I strongly suggest you continue to revisit how you play- from keybinding, to popping CDs early and often in all arena matches, to using the optimal skill specialization, to teamwork, to securing kills, and even just understanding how to counter the skillsets that opposing classes have. From positioning, to crowd control, to having and executing strategies, to working with bad players- these all are a pain to learn, but they're all part of the handicap of the Yoloqueue. And they're important parts of the toolset needed to become a better player. Good luck on your endeavors!
  6. Aight, first off: 8/10 to OP for trolling, you started strong then got weak. Or you're really just not ready for Ranked and need to practice up with some people who can coach you and help you get to the next step. Second, just to point out how the troll you are portraying is playing the game wrong: 1. You're clicking. That's going to give you an automatic handicap in Ranked Arenas, because the other team is going to kill you while you try to do anything. Some pros might be able to do it- but they're not going to be on here complaining about how they can't win. 2. You're Focus specialization. Good players might be able to succeed with it right now, if they're using it for a specific purpose that contributes to their team. Evidently, you should probably be using Vigilance- it's a little bit easier to not suck with. And it's a little bit stronger currently. 3. Looking at the screenshots you cherry-picked and linked. Your damage is mediocre, at best, and you're dying- a lot. That's completely worthless to your team in Ranked matches. Your job is to stay alive, keep your teammates alive, and kill the other team. It's worth noting here that you had 0 killing blows in both of the Arena images you linked. That's Failing with a capital F. Guaranteed loss when you can't land a killing blow. 4. You're not using Taunts. At all. This is a fundamental component of the class, and one of the very basic things that makes it superior to other options. To not use Taunts is like driving a car but staying in 1st gear. You can do it- but you might as well ride a horse instead. Maybe you should be playing a Sentinel. Taunts reduce enemy damage done to targets other than yourself by 30% for 6 seconds. THAT'S MASSIVE. 5. You're not popping Focused Defense in the Arenas. It's one of the best defensive cooldowns in the game right now. If you die in an arena match without popping it, you've failed at doing your job. The lack of healing in the two matches you linked indicate that you're not using it. Maybe you are normally and just didn't in the 2/2 arena pictures you linked. For some reason, I rather doubt it. 6. It looks like you're not paying any attention to your teammates and going what is affectionately called "realz". Here's a guide for WoW that you might want to look at from ArenaJunkies on melee positioning in arenas. These things, in total, lead to one of two conclusions. Either A, you're playing the game terribly and don't belong in the Ranked Queue yet- which makes me wonder if the skilled people on Jedi Covenant have noticed that you're terrible and won't queue when you're in the queue. I've always heard it has decent queue pops. Or B, you're a troll. I suggest you embrace being a troll, because the other option? That's being such a bad player, your entire server has blacklisted you. If you're trying to win and people are queue dodging you? That's just... ouch. To be fair, if I knew specific people like you queued on my server, I would level a character on the opposite faction up just to farm rating off of them. Kind of like win trading- but it's win taking instead.
  7. I don't mean to start any sort of cries for nerfs, nor do I want to imply that is what I want form this. I'm just curious, because I want to know so I can do it.... How does this guy have 51k protection and 8k healing in a single heal? http://imgur.com/a/dV6zP Thanks!
  8. I'd just like to comment as a 50 Jedi Guardian, that Huttball procs a tiny fraction of the time for the Republic. Additionally, if anyone actually bothers to read this, couple points- - Reward ball carrying that leads to a score That single thing is what most irks me. Some friends and I will typically queue together and we all love when Huttball procs because it based on teamwork. A good group can shut you down, but in comparison to Alderaan and Voidstar? I much prefer it. Having said that, I tank and one of the fellows I queue with is a sage healer. The result tends to be plenty of leaps and pulls that make the ramps almost a defensive factor for us. We end up playing for the fast win for the simple pleasure of a fast win. Objective based medals I would suggest: - Carried ball in possession that leads to score - Scored Huttball x1 - Scored Huttball x3 - Scored Huttball x6 - Killed Enemy Ball Carrier Having said that, this might gear out Empire players faster so I'm perfectly happy with Huttball barely rewarding. I just wish I got it more on my character. Can't wait for Warzone-specific queues!
