  1. Why isn't the Galactic Trade Network neutral? I think it makes a lot of sense, especially since both sides get armors/weapons, schematics, and other items that are only usable to the other faction. Plus conceptually the GTN is a open trading place, and while their is escalating parts on both sides, the factions are not at war (yet). Also, it would really help on servers that have lower populations to have both sides GTN pooled to get it populated with more items. I know that on Nar Shaddaa there's a neutral GTN hidden away, but it seems so dated to keep it like this. It's almost like they looked a the a.house on WoW and just assumed that this is the way it has to be. However, it's the future, this is market (supposedly) spans the entire known (Swtor) galaxy. So why would the GTN (that seems exactly the same on either side) distinguish between what was gathered/created on the empire side or what was gathered/created on the republic side? What are your thoughts?
  2. I'm having a blast. The one thing I would have wanted is that it should have been a lot harder to lvl up. I'm actually trying to not lvl, and enjoy the game environment more. I know I'm probably in the minority on that. It'd be pretty easy just to power lvl through this, and that's where I think most of the complainers come from. They just powered lvl a char to 50 and quickly got burned out because this is a new game that doesn't have a ton of community/content around that (end content). So they're just annoyed with what they've got and emphasize the bugs. But I remember vanilla WoW and I think this is leaps and bounds above that.
  3. I know i saw some posts on this yesterday but is anyone still experiencing huge lag spikes? I'll be fine for around 10 seconds (server - Drooga's) and then all of a sudden I'll get a lag spike putting me over 15k latency. This lasts for around 5 seconds and then goes back to normal, only to repeat itself in ~10 seconds. Started doing this yesterday and is still ongoing for me. Anyone else still having this?
  4. I've never had so much trouble with installing or patching/installer. There's something horribly wrong when you have a minor patch that's less then 200 meg but when it errors out you have an installer that tries to re-install 19 gig of a game. Also not having mirrored servers that actually feeds out corrupted data, which makes installing the game via streaming a complete game of random luck. That'd be a start
  5. I agree with the OP. Crafting should matter more especially in End Content. Being a 50 that has dedicated a lot of time and credits into a specific craft should have some meaning to it. I'm not just saying, let them make cool looking gear or superficial fixes. The best gear and items in this game should be made from the players that sank enough time into their craft to do it. I don't want them to make raiding obsolete, but you could have specific gear that drops from raids that is dependent in some way to the gear or items that the crafters make/sell. I know it's a tough balancing act but you can't make it so everything is geared to just to spend hours raiding and ignore every crafter out their. I know it's an easy out to ignore the economic dynamics of this, and just give out the best pvp/pve gear by asking every player to grind out BGs or FPs but that's just lazy. Bioware could do better, they could make a system where highly skilled crafters have an integral role in this game.
  6. The only qq here is your post. This is assuming the fact that you shouldn't roll need on companion gear. That's assumed, we're not arguing that. IF you want to argue that go to the other 10 million threads where people have brought it up. Rolling need on things you can't use, that can be used by 1 of your 4 companions and then wondering why people are upset is ridiculous. It's like having to try to explain why you can't drop trou in the middle of a crowded store and take a dump, and then after you do it looking around store and saying, "What?! QQ some more!" Oh and that's ignoring the fact that this would be exactly for someone like you...
  7. It's ridiculous to say that there isn't an issue. This is one of a laundry list of issues. It's a new game that's essentially being vetted out now. Just like the green laser light show, the buggy vendors, the crafting bugs, etc... It's going to take a good year (if they're really on it) before they really address all of these. I think we always forget that WoW or other successful MMOs didn't come out of the gate with 0 issues. We just remember what our last experiences are with it, from our last run with it (probably after multiple years of patches). But that said, to come out and say shut up and eat it or Bioware already knows... that's counterproductive. This is our avenue to voice these issues, and if it's known maybe we can get them to move it up on their priority list.
  8. I don't have performance issues in game. But I've never had this much trouble installing a game or having to deal with a launcher. None of the disks would work, just get a generic problem just "installation failed". I went borrowed friends disks and get the same thing (they also couldn't install off disks). 2 days later of constantly relaunching online download and I get in... Everytime we get a patch, it errors out and tries to reload 19 gig worth of data, like I'm re-installing this game. I've had to keep a good SWTOR file on a flash drive, and I just push it over program files everytime that a patch errors out. There's something seriously wrong with the way they push out the install and also patches. You shouldn't have re-download 11+ gig of data if it finds an error with a 250 meg patch. That's ridiculous.
  9. Maybe it's just flagging people that you enjoy playing with and flagging people you don't like. So if and when they implement the LFG ability you have a preference that the system will use to get you with people that you've liked and keep you from getting partnered with people that you've had bad experiences with. I guess that would be a simple way to do it. I do like the suggestions of having a system of your own personal notes. So putting them on your own list, that when you see them in-game you can see a title over them that reminds you about them. This would be something you could use, could be as simple as emote icons next to their names.
  10. Yeah I think that sums it up. I just think there's got to be a way to "encourage" people to act civil in a game, and to be rewarded for good behavior. I'm not talking in game mechanics to weed out people that are just learning, so might not be the best dps/tank/heals. But more or less to give players that take advantage of others some real things to consider. Not just a "oh no, some random person that I'll probably never meet again my put me on a ignore list" Probably can't happen.
  11. Well I think if you only get one vote per player. So you can't vote over and over again, just to be a jerk and rate someone low. That it couldn't really be abused. Plus if you can change your one vote, so eventually if you try to run with them and they've changed you can modify what you gave them, that'd help too. Also maybe a % overall, so if you've grouped with 100 diff players on your lvl 25 it'll give an overall % for their experiences with you. It'd help eliminate the one offs of having someone go rogue and just rating bad because they want to cause havoc. We could also make it so you have to be near the person and having their player icon up, so you're not just randomly rating people on general chat, or have it so you would have had to complete a mission/FP with them before you can rate. One last thing you could do is have it as an actual preference that you have to go into the menu and actually turn on. So people that don't care, won't have it up or vote. Kind of keeping it to a smaller community that would actually use it to help team with people that they'd want to group with
  12. I've seen a bunch of posts on ninjas and players that need/steal loot for companions on PUGs I think the perfect solution to this is to implement a rep system. Similar to what xbox live uses. So if you run into someone that ninja loots or someone who is need rolling on companion loot, you can rate them. That rating then would be able to be seen as part of their profile. So if you're in a PUG or about to join another you could see what they're rated. If they're rated low, you can move on and cut out the drama that will eventually happen. Also it'd give real consequences for bad in game behavior to help curtail it. I think the biggest reason we keep running into these types of players (that really ruin in game experiences) is because there are no consequences for their actions. Giving them a reputation table that they themselves have to worry about (because they'll be shunned and kept out of guilds/groups) would be a quick and easy way to do it. What are your thoughts?
  13. Same experience with running FPs and people rolling need for companion gear and getting it over something that would have been a great upgrade for you. I think the main reason is because the game allows for anonymity. For example, I ran a FP with a Sith Warrior - I'm a Bounty Hunter. The last boss dropped a rare blaster. He rolls need on it, gets it and then tells me this "I know that's sneaky of me, but my companion needs it and I don't know you and probably won't meet up with you again..." Logs off... People don't care because they don't know you, will only interact with you for that brief moment and then they'll move on and totally forget about it a minute later. Sucks but that's how it is. I wish there was a way you could hold them accountable. Maybe like flag them so eventually they get bad rep that everyone could see. But that'll never happen.
  14. I'm glad you posted this. This happens to me on every single day there is a patch... I've basically kept a working 19.5g version of this game on a flash drive that I just port over (once the installer fails/freezes) to fix this. Their installer is horrible. I think this happens to a lot of people, and I hope it gets addressed. You shouldn't have to reinstall a 20g game every week on a patch day, it's insane. Oh and just for kicks... that's 11g DL is for Main Asset 1... there's 26 Main Assets. Good Luck with that, lol.
  15. Does anyone know if there is a focus command. So I can click on the Tank and then tab over quickly target what he's on, so I don't pull mobs off of him. I believe in WoW it was just click on the tanks player icon and hit tab. Not sure what it is for SWTOR.
