  1. Sounds interesting. Speaking of which, which companion do you all think has the most interesting romance? Kind of a silly question since nothing is going to ever top Morrigan or Lelianna from Dragon Age, but whatever.
  2. So far I like Jedi Shadow gameplay, but damn do I not care for Qyzen or the VA. I'm hoping his later companions add some flare, but so far(only level 16) it feels like my story line is mostly about saving grandma jedi and her friends from sickness. Did the Korriban quests for the Sith Inquisitor and they were pretty nice, though Khem Val just feels like summoning my Felguard from WoW(not that there's anything wrong with that). Also up to near the end of Coruscant with Jedi Knight. Story so far was decent and the red head girl is pretty awesome, but then the quest bugged out and my companion disappeared...leaving progression to be quite a challenge. So far it feels like the Sith character stories are more or less about being a decent person in a bad place trying to make the most of it. While the Jedi quests feel like your standard save-the-world affair, even though the consular seems more interesting in digging up old relics than actually taking out the flesh beasts or saving the world.
  3. I would challenge you on that and say it's more because: -Everyone here is experiencing something new, and thus everyone has lower expectation standards, leaving more room for friendship opportunities. -You're grouping with people on your server, which is an option in WoW regardless of the LFD tool. People make server-groups ALL THE TIME in WoW.
  4. In Final Fantasy XI, melee dps would sit in cities for hours looking for groups that didn't really want them. I was lucky because I was a healer and could get groups pretty quickly, but even then I had to look for people like some sort of social piranha. It didn't make the game better. It just made me not want to play it if I didn't have two+ hours to set aside. Hell, once I had a melee dps friend who waited 16 hours for an invite. I don't want to go back to the days where anyone had that problem. If Bioware doesn't put an LFD system in before MoP comes out, I'm not going to seriously consider this game long-term.
  5. People who want to advocate spamming general chat instead of having an automated system are a special kind of stupid. There would be absolutely no social difference if there was an LFD system or you were forced to spam, aside from convenience. The reason people don't like LFD in WoW is because it's cross-server, meaning you could end up with anyone from anywhere. So it's not the LFD system that's at fault, it's the rule set Blizzard goes by. So saying you don't want a good LFG system because of that in ToR is very, very dumb, and you should really think about what you're asking to not have.
  6. Threads always die when everyone agrees with me. I posit that all wookies are republicans!
  7. It really is unreasonable to expect a new MMO to be competitive with WoW before its first content patch. Sure, certain features should have been put in at launch(LFG tool), and the lack of any UI customization was a bone head move. But in the long run those are minor things. And consider the following: -If you like WoW but wanted something different, WoW is not going to have anything new for you until MoP. Do you really think the MoP world event patch is worth re-subscribing for? The game is entering a huge dry spell, so you're not missing anything by playing ToR. -Supporting SWTOR means Blizzard will finally see themselves as having significant competition. With Bioware and Blizzard at each others throats, players from both sides of the fence stand only go gain good things. -Since WoW's inception, Blizzard has blamed the MMORPG genre for their inability to put out high production value stories. Bioware just kicked Blizzard in the balls, in this regard. -SWTOR is doing way better at launch than WoW did. WoW's servers were down a LOT for the first year of gameplay, usually coming down in ways that involved emergency maintenance. It's not like everyone just packed up and went back to Star Wars Galaxies and Everquest. None of the MMORPGs that have come out since WoW have succeeded in putting any significant dent into WoW. SWTOR is the best chance this genre has had yet. So instead of complaining about things that you know are going to be fixed at some point, why not just enjoy what you have? It's unreasonable to expect this game to be the messiah of MMORPG's. But it sure as hell has a niche, and it covers it well.
  8. My basic reason for caving in and buying this game was because I know WoW is going to be in a dry spell until MoP, and I really want to play monk. So why not enjoy myself with Bioware's labour of love until then? Yeah, Bioware's stance on UI/macros is moronic and it's really going to bite them in the ***. I also play PC games on my TV, and for such a large screen it defaults the text to being so small that I can't read it without squinting. That alone will stop me from being a long-term customer. Lack of LFG tool is appalling as well. That's the kind of thing that should have been available right out the door.
  9. Except he wasn't bragging, he was complimenting...
  10. It should be noted that, for the record, WoW's LFD tool prioritizes people from your server when it looks for people. But when those people can't be found, it widens the search to other servers to cut down on wait time. Just throwing that out there. WoW's LFD system isn't bad, it's just that it wasn't designed with making players socialize. It's a great feature. And honestly? After I hit the level cap, I'll probably go back to WoW. I'll have experienced the story, but after waiting for hours for groups in Final Fantasy XI, I have no interest in putting up LFG flags or spamming chat channels anymore. I have crap to do. I socialize in guild chat and other areas when I want to. Forcing people into this nonsense is wrong when things could be better.
  11. Hell, back when I played FFXI people were making recount-like mods for it even though the game didn't support mod at all(and actually didn't even let you alt-tab out of the game...). Don't blame mods for this. It's an MMORPG. People will FIND a way to judge you, whether you like it or not. All you can do is your best. And if you don't care, then you're bringing others down. Simple as that.
  12. The only reason it's like that in WoW is because LFD is cross-realm, and thus you are not likely to run into the same people twice. It should be, in the very least, mandatory for every MMORPG out there to have a WoW-like LFG tool---even if it's only for your server. Don't like someone? Put them on ignore, and the LFG tool should then avoid putting them in your group again. It's actually kind of hypocritical to have a Warzone que system but not a flashpoint/dungeon one.
  13. Why....why does anyone need a TWO HUNDRED HOUR story? It's quality, not quantity, that matters. Did you LIKE what you experienced?
