  1. The casuals today wouldn't know how to deal with things like item loss due to decay or death. I really miss having that around.

the casuals today don't live with there parents and don't have 18 hours a day to game like you. I use to play eq man,,,and you know what, what a effing waist of time. Families, jobs, real life stuff, most people don't have all the time

in the world to play, with your item loss and due to decay or death BS. Grow up, get a life plz.

I've read some of your post before, and they are all the same, you sound like one of those basement dwelling live with your mommy gamers, or somebody on ssi.

  2. It's not a mistake it's whats needed for the game, this is an MMO. You people should be asking for help or joining a guild in order to do stuff like the heroic 2's.

Not sure you read or saw the trailer for the new expansion did you?

the whole expac was for solo play, if you want to group go raid, do some flash points, do some pvp.

You join a guild, you ask for help. I do if i want Raid, FP, PVP. But not anything else.

And the way you phrase it " YOU PEOPLE" , the people you are referring to are the ones that left when the game

flopped, and all that was left were raiders and pvp players, and some solo altaholics. Which caused it to go FTP,

because it didn't offer enough, they just added with this expac content that could save this game. Yet they still don't get

that star wars fans, want a mix bag with more story. And op companions helped with that for sure.

  3. ZETA_SCORP

that all depends on how many times you have seen the content.

most after 1 play though on both factions are not wanting to see it anytime soon.

I love alts in all my mmo's, but with swtor from the start, having alts was kinda painful, 4.0 gave me a reason to play them, because i really didn't want to go through all

that stuff again,,now it will take longer. I've been back a couple of weeks after a year break,,i unsubbed, this is a

    game breaker for me.

  4. loved 4.0,, but cancelling sub with this patch, not sure why you didn't want my money, i was going to give it to you, waiting on future chapters. Why have us do missions for companions if you are going to nerf them? You do realize the game was fun with 4.0, but yet you don't want it to be fun for us anymore. That's why i unsubbed a year ago.
  5. I've been playing off and on since launch. Came back to check out the new story content. And to my surprise loved it.

I also liked the companions buff, plus i could use my favorite one to heal, tank or dps. I was even going to leave my sub on to see the new chapters come, and pay to support the game again. Not sure what your doing with this nerf, if i want to group to do things like pvp, FP, Raids i do. But i'm a busy like most, and like a casual game, the companions with 4.0 did this. Now, not so much with this nerf. I am going to cancel my sub. You had me, but lost me. GG

  6. The principle behind the original levels 1-50 is that you have 8 class-oriented stories each leading towards its own conclusion at level 50. So there’s a ton of re-playability – you level one character in a particular class, and when you finish that class story, you go back and create another character in a different class and level that character. Et cetera, until you’ve done all 8. And that takes quite a while for most people, so it’s actually still fun to go back and re-play any class again, aided by the fact that you could go down the alternative AC so that it would feel different.

Then we came to RotHC, where the principle is that there are no class-specific story differences in going from levels 51 to 55. Like many players, I’m finding the repeatability to be very low. Frankly, it gets tiresome fast. In other words, not nearly as much re-playability as the 1-50 levels.

We’ve been assuming that the next expansion has to be for levels 56-60… and that means that you’re stuck with taking forward only the character(s) that you levelled to 55 on Makeb. Two problems with that: (1) in effect, you have to choose at level 50 which character you’re going to stay with for all future levels in that faction, and (2) since it doesn’t take too long to play one character through 5 levels to finish the story arc, new planets have to come pretty fast. The alternative, if you’d rather take a different character through 56-60, is that you have to tediously take that second character through the same story on Makeb first. However way you slice it, players who are here for the story are faced with a lot of boring over-and-over-again activity if they want to keep on playing.

But there’s a different possibility. What if the next expansion was also from 51to 55? Unlike from 1-50, the story line would not be a parallel class-based arc, but a parallel faction-based arc. Players could then take a different character through that new 51-55 arc. After BioWare has released 4 of these 51-55 story arcs, they could start on 56-60.

To make things more interesting, the new 51-55 story arc could sometimes not be about the war per se, but be a ‘personal’ story based around romance. Like Casablanca (lol) – and don’t worry, there would still be lots of rescuing/betrayal/fighting/DS or LS choices/etc !

They could try it. I know I have played makeb only one time on each side(pub, imp), and that was enough. Its a borefest unless you stealth. CZ is good enough with BH and Sec X. I liked how they gave higher level gear out at 55 with oricron, you get a guildy or a friend to help you run the stories, your geard, like it was at 50 before makeb. I still think they should just make more Oricron type updates, More ways to level is fun, kind of like you sugest.

  7. Even beyond RotHC, Oricon gives me hope that EA/BW is still putting proper effort into "Fourth Pillar" content for the game. Just looking at how they have been constantly tweaking their approach to Story in their Daily Areas:

Ilum: quests that would otherwise be one-time side quests are made into repeatable Dailies, with full voice-over conversations on each and spread out over a relatively large map, the same as one-time world quests.

    • Nice the first time you play through, but very tedious after that as you're hearing the same voiced dialogue over, and over, and over again, when after a while you probably just want to get the Dailies done.

Black Hole: a voice-over "breadcrumb" quest to get you to the area, most of the Daily Quests are quickly acquired terminal quests, with one voice-over Heroic quest that acts as a finale to the plot to the plot of the area.

    • Quicker and less tedious from a "get your Dailies done" perspective, and the voice-over breadcrumb gives a bit of context to the area with the voice-over Heroic wrapping it up alright, but the individual terminal quests don't have any appreciable story to them at all, and after a couple of times you're probably spacebar-ing through the Heroic.

Section X & CZ-198: a voice-over breadcrumb quest to get you to the area, all of the Dailies are terminal quests, with either a discrete one-time voiced-over questline (Sec.X's HK-51 quest) separate from the Dailies or a wrap-up conversation after you finish the terminal quests once and a pair of associated Flashpoints (CZ-198).

    • Aside from the context the breadcrumb & wrap-up quests give, which kind of give the impression that what you're doing fits into an overall story progression, there is no real story content at all to the Daily quests themselves. The areas themselves are 100% committed to "get your Dailies done quickly" gameplay.

Oricon: voice-over breadcrumb quest to get you to the area, then fully voiced over versions of each quest that advance the story up to two Operations with a wrap-up conversation at the end. After all of the solo and Heroic quests are done, they become terminal quests repeatable without the voice-over interactions.

    • In my opinion, here is where EA/BW got it right. The area feels like a shorter faction-specific questline, helped by the fact that its the culmination of an ongoing plotline. You get a mini world arc that genuinely feels like a part of the game's overall story throughout the first time you play through it, and afterwards you get a manageable-sized area where you can quickly pick up all your Dailies without rehearing the same voice-overs, and complete them in a reasonable amount of time (only complaint is the mob density).

They let the pendulum swing too far away from Story content with Sec.X and CZ-198, and then they corrected it. Oricon actually shows how you can make a Daily area, with all the cost-effective return they're looking for in a replayable grind, that still feels like an integrated part of the game's storyline (without turning any more tedious than dailies always are on subsequent runs).

It's steps like this that makes it seem to me like the Fourth Pillar is still something they're keeping in mind.

This ^^^^^ all of this, i agree!

If they do more Oricron type content on how they mixed it with story and dailies will work great. With more space maps for gsf to boot. One thing I think they should add to the formula is new companions with the story arcs for the planets. They do not need to add on existing companion stories, for example: the quest givers for each faction on the planet of Oricron could be the end result companion, that you could earn through max rep. Then after that is done, he or she would have more missions to do with affliction, even 3 small missions going out with a new companion would be fun, even if it would take you to other planets. This way they could use the current voice actor for more content, and people could have an option for a new companion, which IMO brings a fresh touch to the game. I know playing with Treek and HK was fun, even on classes I had already ran through the story.

  8. I suspect we'll see a PVE version of GS once they figure out how to create a crafty AI that's not easily out-thought and outmaneuvered by the hairless apes from Earth.

Also, I approve of the idea of embargoed and removed gear sets. It creates a hint of rarity to some sets 'and' it creates some excitement when they're brought back. Because they will, eventually, be back.

As for the mini-games? Maybe. As long as they don't have any CM attachment in any way.

I think they should not add a pve side to it, but instead forget the AI. They should make a progression system within the pvp system. Where as new maps would be added , with different objectives, like the death star, imps guarding and pubs attacking. This way they could continue story content in a way that allows us to participate. With new maps and objectives, this could be done to make for a long continued space adventure.

mini games,,any mini game , gambling, races, more bounties, anything to do with revisiting previous planets. Like make it so you have to go to tat for racing, Or the casino to gamble etc.

  9. Not sure what your talking about, thousands of people have star wars ornaments on there tree and get a new one every year, and they have been out for years! Christmas is fun, this game like anything else in life should have holiday events, and lore wise, we are not watching a movie,or living lore, we are just a a bunch of star wars fans waving light sabers around for the fun of it and w/e everyone is playing for. I'll take the mount , and please for fun sake give me a Christmas tree with ship ornaments on it on my ship, with the droid wearing a santa hat PLEASE!
  10. IMO class stories are done, they did the job of getting us up to the front lines of what needs to be done faction vs faction. If they continue the route they have gone with new planets and faction missions with just enough dialogue for each class, it would be enough for me.

Mini games #1 ( more stuff to do, more variety of game play the better) with space pvp coming, that could be expanded on pve wise, and the races could come and gambling etc.)

More companions #2 ,,. makes rolling alts more fun

    Planets #3 (more, lots more)

  11. Wow was fun, but just like anything in life food, cars, romances, games etc. things get old. Change is good. Wow has had years to build it self up, grabbing all the eq and ff11 players that did not have the time to invest like myself and wanted a more casual game. Swtor did not do anything wrong and regardless of the game engine, its fun and easy. The only thing swtor took from wow was just that ( easy and casual). That is what most the people want today, they don't want to live entirely on a game to get anywhere. Swtor does that just fine.

Was Swtor easy as it is now at launch, NO,,,they changed xp a bit for subs so it is a smoother process. The game is not perfect bug wise, but it does give star wars fans and sci-fy fans that don't want to play fantasy anymore a new world to play in. It is still young, and if they keep adding content, which might not seem like alot, but small updates with different planets and stories and dailies will keep people occupied till everyone gets what they want. The bounty event might not of been what all the bounty hunters wanted, but it was something new to do, and the space pvp that is coming will be fun also.

In time this game could grow vastly past everyone's expectations with years of updates compared to the one your are so fondly saying is perfect that has had years of updates.

  12. Why are you so anxious to complete this new event OP? It started TODAY...of course it's going to be busier. Learn patience...cuz to me, this is just silly whining.

It is not just the event, it was makeb, it was the new daily moon with the 2 new flash points, they are cheap, everything after lev 50 content wise is a joke. It's like a bunch of teenagers took over the development after the game headed ftp.

if you can't tell the difference from the 1-50, to the 50 to 55 then you have your fanboi visors on.

  13. Been playing since launch bla bla etc.

You have this game that is story driven, and add this cool cartel bazar, then add the bounties, starts good, get to the planet talk to someone and start. Then you find shady characters which is just stupid, you have all this space on each planet where you could of instanced this, but yet you make it cheap. Did you even run this on the test server or what, players hating and having to ops or groups just to get this stuff done, not epic at all. This event has so much potential, yet you half arese it. Going to be voting with my wallet on this soon enough and hit the new redone ff14 to see how they measure up.

The last updates, with the new flash points, daily areas, even makeb are cheap compared to the core game play, its like you have a AAA mmo, and you keep putting cheap additions to it.

just my 2 cents,,,2.4 will either make it or break it for my sub, don't half arese 2.4.

I know lots share my point on this.

  14. My take on all this, from being here since launch and watching how they have changed from sub to ftp is harsh.

I've played many mmos through the years (free and sub), and the nickel and dime system they are doing is just like all those Korean ftp mmos. One thing they are not taking into account is the people who play these ftp korean type games are die hard game hoppers. EA/BW are not being generous enough to subs for content, they knew any die hard star wars fan was going to buy the ewok with cash, and subs who don't want to pay again cost 40 legacy and 1 mil, that is just stupid, 1 mil is ok, but 40 legacy pft.

I like the game, and want to support it, but they don't deliver for subscribers, they want you to sub, yet don't give you anything. I guess they did give us 5 data's off the new mount on hoth, woopie doo.

If they don't start showing subs some attention with sub only content, games going to lose alot of the fan base. I for one am looking forward to trying out ff14, just so i can be in an only sub game, where they will have everything free for subscribers.

I still like the game, just not the direction its headed, the way they are doing the cash shop makes them look cheap and just pure greedy. I mean there updates are more cartel then content, and cartel is not content for subs.

    just my 2 cents

  15. I've been playing since launch, the seeker droid and macro was something i was going to do after i got my main to 55, which I did, and even though i have lots of alts and play super casual, this was something I was looking forward to. I did start the seeker droid mission chain before the patch, and it dropped some good stuff, item mods for my alts and companions. It was also fun to have a reason to go to different planets like tat to do something else besides kill stuff and see the world again. Now with the change i have not touched it, and prob will not. I've decided to start with my alts again.

It is about time = reward, and with the new changes the reward is just not worth it. This ruined the mini game that they created. I still love the game, just wish that they would not change things that they worked so hard to make seem worthless doing., kinda defeats the purpose of implementing them with a nerf.

The space nerf was ok, since it made since that there were people using bots to farm them,,,but this is different, and I don't understand why they did it,, I read in some post that lots of people made tons of credits doing this mini game, well thats cool. You can make tons of credits on the gtn, dailies, crafting, etc. Don't really see the need to nerf this.

  16. I've been subbed since launch, and have played all kinds of mmos, from eq all the way to ff11 wow, sto, and free to play in between. BW did a great job on the game, and its still in its infancy. I will continue to sub and throw money at them to keep the game going. I'm a star wars fan, so what ever. When I started the game and knew from playing previous mmos that leveling to cap with in the first year is crazy,, new mmos need time to grow and adjust to the player base, I play super casual, which I think any new game is really meant to played.

Sure they jumped the gun a tad with the added servers, but people were waiting to get in, and they wanted to keep paying customers happy, so they could log in. Now that its died back down, they will merge sometime.

The fps issue needs fixed, alot of my friends have this problem also. I can run anything, and still some issues.

The quest system needs adjusted, They need more weapons and weapon types. All these things take time.

Star Wars fans will keep this game up, just like Star Trek fans kept STO alive, and its free now, but doing really well.

    Just takes time
