  1. Can anyone confirm this will work as I thought secure key apps needed to access a radio frequency to correctly generate a valid key? The problem I've got with secure key's is how much of a pain it causes if you lose or replace your phone, surely they could use a one time password to deactivate a key!
  2. There's a few I want based on cool titles: Micheal Knight of the old republic Padawan Ker Master Baites Agent Orange Ming The Merciless
  3. That was a comparison of x-server and single server lfg tools, obviously x-server is is faster than no tool, the point I was trying to make is once you have a certain amount of players looking for a group increasing the number of players available doesn't decrease wait times, the rate of groups starting increases by the same amount as the length of the que increasing meaning the same average wait time. My guess would be that in practice x-server would be faster than single server, even with full servers because I doubt a single server would have the required critical mass, especially at lower level flashpoints, but bioware doesn't need to implement a full x-server solution to get all of the benefits, something that prioritizes local players when forming groups could probably be implemented with little change in que time's, giving all the benefits of a x-server system while also going some way to address the legitimate concerns of the people opposed to it
  4. I havn't really got the time or inclination to prove it but intuitively it would seem to me that if you have a situation where a there is a shortage of one role then increasing the player pool would both increase the size of the queue and the rate that group's are formed by the same amount, meaning the average wait times wouldnt change. Also intuitively but not worked out I'd expect increased rate of groups forming would lower the variance in wait times which can only be a good thing That would only apply when groups are ready to go as soon as the indemand class turns up, in situation's where you don't have that critical mass you would expect the averages to be higher for all roles as when there is no actual queue you could be waiting for anyone I'm not against x-server lfg but some of the critisism's of it are justified, if the required critical mass cant be reached on a single server then its right to implement a x-server solution, I'd quiet like to see one that prioritises same server matches before looking out to other servers to fill the empty roles
  5. Cross server only lowers the wait times because it means there is always a group forming, meaning for a char like a tank its instant action, once you have a critical mass of players where there is always a group forming and in fact there is queue of groups waiting to fill certain roles then the cross server part doesn't really add much in terms of queue speed. I think before looking into a cross server system they are better off looking into what ways they can move towards the critical mass and also make it easier for people to queue as multiple roles, merging servers is most obvious but allowing dual speccing would probably also help, queuing up as a alts and auto switching to them when the action starts is also a idea I like, many of these could be more help than x-server and they should definately be given a try first, if x-server is a necessity it wont hurt the game to much to have it introlduced at a later date
  6. My main is a healer, my next char probably will be a tank, but that's not the point, the point I was trying to make is that a system that allows you to join a queue for a group as a alt could possibly reduce the bottleneck effect more than a x-server system and definitely more than expecting people to re-roll because from prior experience in wow very few people do. Reducing queuing times was only one advantage, other than the advice that I should re-roll do you have any opinion about the actual idea?
  7. Instead of a cross server LFG tool would it be possible to make a LFG tool that lets people form groups across alt's of their account, what I mean is a system where you can log into one account and join a queue for a group from any of your character's, when a group is ready to form and you've clicked your popup to join the action it automatically switches you over to the character you queued as and a magic shuttle takes you to the action, when the group is finished then another magic shuttle return's both character's to wherever they were before they joined the group and your free to carry on questing as you wish. I think this would have several advantages over other LFG tool's, firstly the biggest delay in forming a group with any tool is finding a tank/healer, all the servers in the world isnt going to help if only 10% of the available players are tank's, allowing people to effectively queue up as 3 roles at the same time, albeit across several accounts at different levels could reduce queue time's more than simply allowing more people to wait for the same bottleneck of not enough available tank's The second advantage is social, because of the Legacy system encouraging people to group across alt's would both re-ignite the leveling game experience and also over time you would begin to recognize good players by their legacy, while its hard to quantify how much of an effect this would have it would definately make people more accountable than any of the never meet again x-server LFG system's And finally just fun, waiting around for a group is boring even if its only 20 minute's as a dps class, I'd much rather spend that time running around with a low level char killing durni's (where are the durni's anyway!) than twiddling my thumb's waiting for a popup I can see faults with this, I'm sure it wouldn't be easy from a technical perspective and players turning up with damaged gear or unprepared could be a problem but that could be fixed by sending them to a orbital staging area with a bank/vender/mailbox before they actually jump in the shuttle down to the flashpoint. Anyhow, I'd be interested to hear what anybody else thinks about this?
