  1. Not bad, Linked it in the OP.

It caches data once loaded, so any data access beyond first pull will be faster - better for some applications than others, depending on disk access.

Optimal settings for my system is a Read Only 2gig cache for the drive with SWTOR on it.

I wouldn't have Write enabled on any system without some form of battery backup, secondly users using Fancy Cache with Write enabled have encountered some corruption to data, you're fine if its set to Read Only.

e: Added Superspeed 5 as its not Beta Software.

i understand the risks of data corruption, specially as it's beta.

however i just adquired a SSD disk too and i think fancy cache defer writing will make my SSD life longer.

    my question would be:

with all the scripts for the ramdisk in this thread, will they improve my SSD lifespan? or are this scripts not affecting the files that swtor is WRITING all the time?

  2. might have been asked already, but:

Now that you announced that dual specc will be available at some point, will this system include (and right from the start) tools like:

    - dual hotbar setup

    - dual hotkey setup

    - dual gear vault/gear switcher

because let's face it... "just" being able to switch between talent speccs is not enough and could be done now already by paying the "unlearning" and then relearning talents.

  3. Didn't you read the blog post on bugs? Changing one thing might have undesirable consequences on dozen other things.

    Muahahahahahahaha

if changing a TOOLTIP can have "undesirable consequences on dozen other things" they need to go back to programming school ASAP.

the tooltip for an item should be a simple variable stored in the database. with no effect WHATSOEVER on anything else but that tooltip. and it should take like 5 seconds of changing it.

  4. so, i noticed this already on my bounty hunter, but now on my tanking trooper, as my dps is low, i notice this more.

i don't know if it happens just to me or to everybody, but let me try to explain the scenario:

i am fighting a group of mobs. i might have pulled a bit too much, **** happens... and slowly but securely i am going down. my healing pet can't keep up and i used all my cooldowns.

so i think: ok, let's focus on this big stong mob, at least i'll kill him too before dying.

i have 2000hp left, the mob has 800hp left.

at the current rate, it will take half a dozen of shots to kill me and i only need a couple of more shots on the big guy to take him down.

then it happens... it's like the game freezes but not really... the mob stops taking damage. i stop taking damage and after 2 seconds suddenly i am dead on the floor and the mobs have all reset to their position (including the big guy i would have killed) with full HP

many times i have wasted a medpack because of this. i use the medpack and still game freeze-effect and i die anyways.

i don't have any sort of freezes anywhere, not even with 100ppl. on fleet around me. does this happen to anyone else?

it pisses me off that i think i can still survive 5 seconds more and then BAM i suddenly die. and i doubt it was a lucky mob crit, because when this happens, everything stays still for 2 seconds, not taking damage (not even me) even tho skills are firing, and then BAM, dead and mobs resetted.

  5. INCLUDES MINOR SPOILERS

it's the second character i complete all of voss quests.

on my bounty hunter i already noticed some things, but now on my trooper it's worse:

    1) the whole reason i go to voss is to convince a politician to let all our troops go, because we need them. we're talking hundrets or maybe tausends of troops?

    2) then when landing i meet a squad of troopers begging me to get them off the planet coz they're bored.

    3) the politician tells me that as voss is neutral we can't take direct action against imperials.

<snip> so far so good. no problem till here... but now the thing starts to get stupid

    4) all over voss i have to fight beasts and gormak and imperials. i get this missions from the politician and even from the voss themselves. wasn't this suposed to be a covert op?

    5) i wipe out small camps that i alone with my companion can clear out. WHERE ARE THE TAUSENDS OF TROOPS i am suposed to bring back? they couldnt storm the place? this stopped being a covert op long ago, so why not send 100 troopers to do the job and not in small squads that get themselves stupidly killed all the time, but in a huge big group.

    6) then i am done with the planet. i bring peace to voss. the voss will stop killing gormaks and i am about to leave the planet when i get the bonus missions... which are 99% killing gormak? lol?

and this is only ONE example of planet and contradictions...

200M. $ and BW could not do it right?

  6. If you are going to complain about future content changes, then you might want to read up on it a bit more thoroughly. 'Orange' moddable items can be crafted. From my understanding, if during that crafting process one receives a critical, then that Orange moddable item gains an augment slot.

The change would be beneficial to what you are mistakenly arguing 'for'. In other words, the future change would make customizable gear more viable, not less.

the current state of the game is this:

    - items that automatically have mods in them when crafted, CAN crit

    - items that when crafted have empty slots, can NOT crit

this means that armormechs are screwed (synthweavers too? dunno) and armstechs are pwning

i personally spend around 1.5M cr on trying to get an orange armormech schematic to crit. after around 150 crafts, i haven't got a single orange armor crit. and reports in crew skills forums suggest the same.

whileas my guildmemebers who have armsmech, crit all day long on orange weapons.

  7. dude, the amount of time, money and devs put on that UI must have been huge.

    :p

well maybe you KNOW and you're being sarcastic... or you don't know

it's a player made addon, very famous one too and as the chick on the video sais: once you try it, you will never go back

as i have said previously: bioware needs to stop wasting resources on something

    a) they have no clue what they are doing anyways

    and/or

    b) even if they do release something good, they'll never make EVERYONE happy

solution? stop wasting resources on that and make the game addon compatible already and let everyone use the GCD visual addon he/she prefers.

  8. You're all doing it wrong. Play as a Republic Commando and spam grav round until demo round is ready, then continue spamming grav round. :D:D

    BH rotation:

spam tracer missile. when max debuffs, use heatseeker missile. when max buffs, use raygun, if unload buff proccs, use a unload as filler (tracer and unload crits vent heat) and back to square one.

if you didnt get enough heat vent proccs and get into the "heat danger zone" use your blasters a couple of times. other than that: infinite spamming

  9. i admit this new change sucks.

as user of OMNICC in WoW since the addon existed, i can't really understand how bioware can fail so much so many times in a row.

message to bioware: stop spending resources on your UI. you obvioulsy don't know what you're doing and even if you knew, you would never make everyone happy.

instead, make the game addon compatible. NOW. so everyone can use whatever GCD display he wants. end of story, end of wasting stupid resources on the issue.

ans for the problem the OP states. i personally don't care too much about the current or previous designs. on my BH i pay attention to my heat bar and the proccs/buffs/debuffs and on my trooper i watch mostly my ammo bar and a couple of cooldowns.

how i play? i press my hotkey for a skill and inmediately start spamming the skill i want after that. if i have a procc for something, i spam the hotkey for that key and then i start over.

i dont even look at the GCD, i just check cooldowns.

swtor is way too easy. even in eternity vault hm we havent yet encountered anything we wouldnt beat rolling our faces on the keyboard.

i dont feel that there is a need to min/max to the millisecond in this game, like it is needed in heroic raids in wow

  10. Was it any surprise that the gnome had the best racial ability?

Who wants to play a garden ornament?

    wait, WHAT?

an CC escape ability on a long CD that has been nerfed multiple times during last years and a bonus on the worst profession ever (engineering) is the best in game?

did you even play the same wow i did?

best racials have been and still are, the undead ones. making undead rogues and undead warlocks really hard to kill in pvp because the racial doesn't share cooldows with pvp trinkets or class skills. (at least it didn't a few month ago when i last played)
