  1. :csw_trooper: I’m on a PVE server also and I do care, the reason I chose a PVE server is so I can quest and play in peace without the worry of being attacked by others.

However, if we merged with a PVP server we would all be auto flagged and that would kill the game enjoyment for a lot of us, it would be easier for them to merge PVP with a PVP server so those that enjoy PVP can flag themselves and everyone would enjoy the game. :csw_fett:

If in the end they end up merging a PvE server with a PvP server, the new combined server will be PvE not PvP. They did it on an EU server, I don’t recall the name though. You won’t be auto flagged, unless someone grief’s you with one of the many PvP bugs that are in the game atm or you flag yourself before hand.

  2. click the objective first then fight

stops tossers from stealing ya node

and yes people dont cear about u they dont no u and have their own time frame to play in has happend to me many times until i started clicking before attacking

Some nodes, granted not the ones in black hole, but some quest object nodes aren't usable while in combat. which means you have no choice but to finish killing the guard mob before using said item. guess what, node thieves aren't in combat while you're fighting, so they CAN click it and steal what is essentially your quest item node.

  3. I like using body type 1, not because of the whole starving waif look, but because most of the characters I play are darkside force users, with darkside effects turned on, and everyone knows if you’re really strong in the force it burns you up from the inside. :p That’s why I say Baras wasn’t strong in the force. No powerful force wielder could ever become that fat hehe
  4. Then I hate UO because it is the reason why my beloved Kotor 3 got axed. :D

    R.I.P

    Star Wars: The Old Republic

Killed by Greed, and lack of Integrity

Hehe I can see the Obit now. “Star Wars: The Old Republic, born prematurely on 20 December 2011 after a 5 year hexmester pasted away today of SIDS. It struggled valiantly through parental neglect and abuse and finally succumbed on 31 July 2012. It was 7 months old.

SWTOR is survived by its older siblings KoToR and KoToR II, both still strong and happy games thankfully not adopted by their stepparent EA. :D

AD: Sorry about butchering your sig, couldn't figure out how to make it quote as you have it

  5. What bugs are you talking about? I haven't experienced any issues with today's patch.

I haven’t explored a lot of the changes yet, but the ones I’ve noticed are my ship droid is stupid talkative again, going through his repertoire of lines in about 30 minutes. The other is, all pets are assuming and reporting failures of missions, whether they failed or not. Both past bugs that have been reactivated through this patch

  6. Hate to disappoint ya, but I ordered a completely new laptop. :)

This is for work purposes as well, and I can afford to throw money around for stuff like this. If I'm going to have to re-install all of my software (and there is a *ton*)... then I'm going to do it on a system I can really enjoy for a while. I still only have a mid-level graphics card, but I did get the 180 GB SSD drive for it. :)

    http://www.lenovo.com/products/us/laptop/thinkpad/w-series/w530/

Go to Amazon or Newegg and order the Coolermaster U2 or U3 laptop cooling system. They have user positional fans, 2 for the U2 and 3 for the U3 to help keep your new laptop a lot cooler than just the internal fan.

  7. Damn, better performance sucky UI, this was what I was afraid of, maybe someone will rewrite the kernel to allow for a more traditional desktop layout? MS always reacts to the market the WRONG way every other OS release.

10 to 1 Windows 9 will be released a year after 8 gets RTM.

I dont want to get too far into the UI in here since it doesn't pertain to this thread, but there is a traditional Desktop option(kinda) in win8. PM me if you have any more questions, cause I don't want to post more about the UI in here.

  8. One way to fix load times, if you have a spare 8-16gb USB memory stick, or similar size SD type card is to plug it in to your computer and in the explorer rightclick the drive and select properties, then select ReadyBoost when the window opens. under the readyboost window click the 2nd option, to dedicate the entire drive to readyboost, then click apply, then Ok and close the windows then run SWTOR normally.

I tried it and it helped a lot with load speeds after I was in the game. But it adds cycles to the CPU, so if you're on a laptop, run a temperature monitor to make sure you're not overheating the system.

  9. Win 8 Already? You in a an RC Beta? I didn't think they had a RTM yet? How do you like the interface? Sorry to go off topic but the CS in me is too curious not to ask.

So as not to derail the thread, I can say that win8 did help slightly with load times. By slightly I mean maybe 1-5 seconds. But once up and running there is a marked improvement in game performance overall vs win7. Most notable in Warzones is the lack of stuttering or bounding of characters on the screen. I never really experienced drops in FPS during WZs but the bounding effects did happen sometimes. Under win8 I have yet to see them at all.

I'm using build 8400 of win8 RPEC. I use a dual boot system so I can compare win7 and win8. Overall I like the way win8 runs, but not a huge fan of the tablet UI.

  10. Or time how long it takes you to hit the play button on the load screen and from that point how long it takes you to log onto a toon and travel to a different plant.

    Guessing 10 mins or more.

from the time Im hitting play until Im selecting a character, about 25-30 seconds. from then to in world about 30 to 45 seconds. my system specs are:

    i7-2860QM 16gb ram, GTX-555m, win8-64 25mbps/15mbps link. coolermaster notepal U3 laptop cooling system.

Better than average laptop, but nowhere near top of the line.

I can get those times to under 15 seconds(even for Corillia/Ilum) if I use an SD card with readyboost, but it makes my CPU smoke, so I don't use it.

  11. You mean like WoW and every other MMO does? 10Millions subs that WoW claims is so wildly inaccurate.

Simple to figure out if they're trying to cheat the numbers. If they say they have 750,000 active subscriptions, you know they're talking about paid accounts. If they say they have over 1 million active accounts, you know they're trying to cheat the numbers by joining paid and f2p accounts together.

Since the free to play accounts aren't classified as subscribers they can't be lumped in with the paid accounts under the term Subscribed users or total subscriptions. I wouldn't be surprised if they use the term active accounts in the call though, since this is Electronic Arts we're talking about, not like they have't done it before.

  12. If you dont do it by the end of today, 30 July, you won't get the rewards when Bioware moves them at a later date.

PS: Transfers aren't mandatory, in that YOU don't HAVE to move them. They are however going to be moved when Bioware does the transfer(server mergers) at some point probably around the 5th of August(a guess, not a hard date) So, might as well get the 25 Black Hole Comms and the pet for doing the move yourself today instead of waiting till BW does the move for you for no reward.

  13. Taking video falls under the use of 3rd party programs not the confidentiality clause....as it is not something that can be done directly through the client.

That is the reason why i never took video. While i don't recall them ever specifically mentioning Fraps or any other capture program for recording, when asked that's the clause they would frequently site.

I wouldn’t be at all surprised that some GM’s were overstating the clauses in the NDA and GTA. I was given a written warning for posting an email header sent to me from BW/EA to the test forums when a GM asked me about an error in the header another GM sent me a warning saying I wasn’t allowed to post copy written information.

  14. I was under the impression you could only take screenshots through the client for reporting bugs and nothing else. Maybe my interpretation was too conservative, but it seemed a lot of people felt that way when I played beta.

Edit: In fact, I vividly remember being asked to delete screenshots i had of the "out of body experience" bug I reported when on Belsavis

All the confidentiality clause stated was :

    2 Confidentiality

2.1 Confidential Information Defined. "Confidential Information" shall mean (a) any and all information relating to, contained in or relayed through the Game Software, the Game, and the Game Program, including, without limitation, information relating to: (i) the performance, capabilities and contents of the Game Materials, (ii) your Feedback, (iii) any other Game Program participant's Feedback, and (iv) any BWA employee's feedback and comments, (b) the existence and terms of this Agreement, and © any and all information relating to the future or proposed games, services or business operations of BWA. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, please review Addendum B below for a list of examples of Confidential Information. The list in Addendum B is not exhaustive and is provided for reference and example only. You shall use best efforts to safeguard and to prevent unauthorized use or disclosure of the Confidential Information, unless otherwise expressly authorized in writing as provided in Section 2.3 below. Your obligation to keep the Game Materials confidential will continue until BWA publicly discloses to the public through no fault of yours (or any third party not affiliated with BWA or LucasArts) such Confidential Information.

2.2 Confidentiality Obligation. You shall keep the Confidential Information in confidence and shall not publish, disclose, distribute, transmit, post or otherwise make available, directly or indirectly, any Confidential Information to any third party except as otherwise expressly set forth herein. However, you may disclose the Confidential Information in accordance with a judicial or governmental order; provided, however, that: (a) you give BWA prompt written notice of such order so BWA has opportunity to seek a protective order or other appropriate remedy to such order, prior to disclosure and shall comply with any applicable protective order or equivalent, (b) you provide BWA with all reasonable assistance in opposing such required disclosure or seeking a protective order or confidential treatment for all or part of such Confidential Information, and © you disclose only such portion of the Confidential Information as is either permitted by BWA or required by the court, tribunal, governmental agency or other authority, subject to any protective order or confidential treatment obtained by BWA

Never said not to make screenies or vid’s just to not publish or make them available to any third parties.

  15. In beta the very act of recording was a violation of the NDA...so even if the content /information itself may not be protected anymore...you're still providing evidence that you've broken the contract you signed during the beta period. We were not allowed to run any 3rd party software that interacted with the game, affected how we played, or their ability to take metrics...That included using fraps (even for just monitoring fps) and ventrilo.

    Edit: quoted the wrong post.

That is incorrect. The way the NDA worked was, you could take Screen Shots or record videos, but couldn’t let anyone else see them, Or host them on any site. I still have tons of screenshots and video from beta on my computer at the other house, but I won’t be back there for a few more months.

If I remember, I think I have a SS of a dead Quinn, but no video. I’ll look when I get there.

  16. Yeah, it's not out yet, but some of my friends have already played the beta, and they're saying things on how GW2 has just stuff that's better than SWTOR. I don't know how to speak on their behalf since I've never played GW2, but I probably never will anyways.

It's just really sad to see the direction this MMO is headed. Not pretty. :(

I played GW2 during the weekend beta for pre-orders for about 6 hours. It wasn’t fun, the graphics aren’t that great. Overall I think SWTOR is much more fun to play, for me. Others won’t agree with my opinion, fine. GW2 is the first game I ever pre-ordered, then canceled after playing the beta, it was that bad to me.

I’ll be sticking with SWTOR for the foreseeable future. Though, they are getting close to my unsub limit with the lack of content they promised would be in, then said sorry, it will be in within the first 6 months, then the first year. They have a lil over 4 month to get that stuff in, or I’ll be finding a new habit.

  17. I mean, Beta, from what I heard, had a lot more impact full choices you made. Like your companions could leave you based on your decisions and stuff like that.

The Community didn't actually like the idea of ramifications with their choices, so it was taken out.

You are exactly right. There was no end of whining on the beta forums when there were actual consequences re companions and your actions towards them. Take the warrior companions Quinn, I won’t tell why, but there was a choice at one time in beta to kill him. People used it, then screamed bloody murder on the forums when they found out he was actually dead and they couldn’t get him back. I was so saddened by this I wanted to cry, are people really that bad at comprehension?

I know it doesn’t sound logical that after you kill your companion in a quest dialog that you’d expect to be able to get that companion back. But, that’s what was happening. I hated the fluff like changes to companion reactions and the removal of impact in your actions towards them. I mean really, these are our companions, not our drones. You treat them like crap, they should run for the hills.

  18. The hoods for Jedi, masks+hoods for sith, and the fact that not all appearances have an orange version, all confuse and infuriate me at the same time. They clearly have the assets for jedi robes with the hoods down. I've seen them in their own screenshots and worn by countless NPCs. They've also shown off images with sith wearing masks under their hoods in their own screenshots. For what possible reason would they not make this available to players is beyond me! Not to mention all of the clothing from beta (I can think of at least a couple I remember just from the weekend betas) that cannot be found in the game.

All I can ask is "WHY?!"

They took all that orange armor and clothing out during Beta so they can add it back later and call it content.

  19. At least with group finder you don't get any more Commandos who think they can "tank" because they're wearing heavy armor. Though you do still get the ******* shadows in DPS gear who think they can "tank" without wearing a shield just because "I'VE GOT MY TANK STANCE ON BRO I DON'T WEAR A SHIELD CUZ IT GIMPS MY DEEPS AND WHY DID U LET ME DIE THIS IS WHY I HAET RUNNIN WITH U GUNSLINGERS CAUSE U ARE TEH SUK @ HEALING!!!!"

Best responce to these types "dood, I'm the healer, you died because I was busy healing the gene pool"

  20. Actually, some servers DID get a countdown warning, some didn't. This leades me to think that the problem theyre having is also affecting their ability to send world messages. The will tell us whats going on when THEY know, so stop ************ about it already.
  21. There are now quite a few pre-made groups on my server and they are getting unfair advantage. Usually they come in 4 or at least 3 - 2 dps and healer. Or 2 healers.

    And they ravage.

IMHO, this is unfair advantage and I see the result: you wait very long for pvp simply because there is no players. Also, every other game is quit in 120 seconds.

Since I see this is read by devs, I am writing this. How do I see? Well, since people complained about individuals leaving WZ in the start or in the middle - devs introduced the vote system.

Maybe they will not disable pre-made completely, but - maybe they will find a way to make a match more equal.

Fair is giving everyone the option to do it. The fact you don’t avail yourself of the party-queue option is not germane to the fairness argument. Every person has the ability to do it, that’s fair enough. I generally queue alone, does it mean I’m at a disadvantage to a group of four using vent/teamspeak/mumble? Yea I am, does it matter, not a bit.

If our team wins against a premade lol yea, so much better than beating 8 random people. The problem is you grew up with outcome based competition and think that you’re owed a win. You’re not, you’re owed an equal chance to do what everyone else is able to do, and that’s all, nothing more. Take advantage of all the options give you, and you will see your wins go up, simple as that.
