1. I think my forum typing days are over. I seem to have trouble communicating in this mode. Probably I am too goofy and ppl don't realize I am just kidding around sometimes. No worries I can still read and eat worms in a dark corner at the same time.
2. I understood that. Only meant happy hunting in game. Sorta like GL HF only for cave men Cheers To clarify the Stones reference I rarely know what I am looking for on here. I just find new things that interest me. I did spend a bunch of time looking for scout TDM strategies recently with almost no luck. The search tool isn't very good.
3. Crickets eh? Can I quote the Stones? No, you can't always get what you want But if you try sometimes you find You get what you need Happy Hunting
4. Luc wat de hail? You ready to come out of retirement yet? The scout conversation was EXACTLY what I have been on here looking for last couple days. The last time I read through this post it stopped after the power up conversation. Getting perspective from so many good pilots is priceless. Going to keep sifting for more conversations like this. Think I will try Lucs TDM build from page 3 for a while. looks more beginner friendly. Ramalina _ had I known that's what super serious night was about I would have signed on. Was pretty intimidated and wimped out. I get my butt kicked all of the time. Next time I won't miss the chance to take a beating while learning, time slots allowing. Also I get like 400 ping on darth malgus so I don't fly there. I am still daunted by the things I need to work toward to achieve the legendary 80% win rate. I thought I wasn't terrible when I first came to the forums. After you guys straightened me out and Luc got me going on the cluster missile challenge I thought I am doing alright - definitely no ace just feeling confident to hold my own. Then I put only a scout on my bar for a few weeks.... yeah back to feeling like I should stick with candy crush. Slump is an understatement lol. Maybe starting to seem redundant by now but I really do appreciate you guys unselfishly sharing all the good stuff. pewpewpewpewpewpew
5. Thanks for the encouragement This has always been my favorite ship it looks awesome lol, FUN to fly. I still have survival issues I am working on . Flying in the open is kiss of death so I am working on attack strategies and staying on the field. Especially TDM I really struggle to put it together there.
6. :rolleyes:it was the other couple days ago. Don't really get an in game achievement, just a personal goal of mine for a while. If I ever hit 100k dmg I can start to learn the power-ups. There's a kill ratio goal involved too .... don't want to be the guy grabbing all the power ups and ending up with 12 kills and 10 deaths. I usually leave them for ppl that know what to do with them. Anyhow one of the three completed http://i.imgur.com/DQQeJjJ.png"]http://i.imgur.com/DQQeJjJ.png Hope the link works right this time. Might have to scroll around a bit. Never did try to figure that out. Flashfire. BLC(SP/HD), Pods (ammo/range), TT (w/e and crit), Disto (MB), retro (turning), frequency, turning thrusters. Copilot - shield piercing. Not a bad little jouster. I also like to fly it with RFLC, BO, Clusters, and power dive w/wingman. That's pretty frisky. Hope everyone is all good Happy shooting
7. Unfoldingsquid... every one of your assumptions are wrong. Congratulations on 100%. Remi - thanks for the info. LOVE that T2F build having a lot of fun with the EMP's Still haven't done much GS flying. Just enough to get the achievements. Focusing on the scouts currently. Sorry I hadn't checked back sooner really appreciate the help. Philwil - thanks! you're awesome. Hadn't been back to check the forums for a while. Glad I did today you made my day.
8. Wow I wasn't really expecting to defend my flying or my ship. Was hoping to start a conversation on different ships. I never run out of blaster power. Ever. 0 dps loss. If you are wondering "Do I shoot my blasters?" - my personal best is 93,673 dmg and 17 kills. In domination. TDM It's lower 16 kills and 82758 dmg. 0 power ups used. think I already showed a screenshot of that one couple weeks ago. Good luck getting those numbers with missiles. Can rip a cluster off in many tight spots to keep pressure on in a close fight. For me this is a good thing. Power, regen, and ammo aren't needed for me and targeting at least provides a benefit, however small. I already know this is considered by many to be a "bad build". Or at best "good against scouts". I can hold my own with it in every situation. That's why I like it. Other builds more specific to a certain task or type of match also work great. I have used them all. A lot. And kept track of changes in results good or bad. This build rocks and I always go back to it. If I were looking for orthodox builds I would just keep using Drak's excellent work. He has already done all of the testing and was kind enough to recommend builds for everyone based on the results. I have flown them all and they are all strong builds. Was really hoping for the "personal preference" perspective with my question. Not specific to this ship and build because I am pretty confident I am the only one flying this set up.
9. I got help with a T2F build that is really fun. Going to stick with that for a while. Kind of a spontaneous question and answer thing from somebody cool. Can dismiss this or if ppl want to share for conversation I am definitely curious what others like to fly.
10. Hello anybody! How's things? Good I hope. Looking to try some different ships out for TDM and don't want to burn my saved up req on bad builds. Already been to that movie. I am hoping people will share their preferred ship and build for solo TDM. It can be anything you like so don't be shy. Rika destroyed my team the other day with an EMP bomber. I saw it happening and went after them to see what the deal was. Yepppp took away my piledriver swap and engine break. Then fed me a prototorp. SALUTE lol! I didn't know bombers could have EMP. At any rate just an example to say that all ships can be good. The Rycer/Starguard is currently my go to ship for TDM. I am ready to move on. It's a great ship that has a lot of tools available. I have tried them all and liked pretty much every single set up. Some better than others. I keep going back to the same build because I always fly solo and for me it checks the most boxes. Here it is. Primary 1: Heavy Laser with AP/SP Primary 2: Rapid Fire Laser with Firing arc/ shield dmg Secondary: Cluster Missile with range/dbl volley - not the most pwrful but sooo handy against top pilots that I keep putting them back on my ship. Shield: Quick Charge with regen under fire. Engine: Retro thrusters with turning. Capacitor: Range. Seems dumb to take range over a DPS increase. When I actually tried it out for a while I noticed a nice accuracy increase. Landing more shots = more dps. Magazine: Efficient targeting Reactor:: turbo Thrusters: Turning Crew Co - Hydro spanner O - Gault/B3G9 D - Writch Hurley/Doc T - Scorpio/Elara Dorne Eng - Blizz/C2N2 Anyone willing to share their preferred ship and build for TDM?
11. Had a look yesterday waiting on a long que. Good stuff I was rolling. Gunship chase was epic.
12. Yeah. Good points. I don't like it either. In pvp. Definitely lowered the player pool resulting in much longer que times. The toxicity meter also went off the charts. I think a new one was created to handle the scale. Arena went from pretty bad to I'm not going to bother anymore. Did eliminate the ERPers hanging out and having emoji competitions. Idk guys. There will always be bad teams in solo anything. All we can do is take our lumps and move on. Sucks. Maybe we shouldn't be asking devs to do anything. It really isn't their problem. I would rather see them put energy into a new class of ships or a couple maps.
13. Require a win to get credit for cq points or to complete the weekly/daily. Require a win to get credit for seasons points. Should thin them out.
14. Yeah I will be alright. I am still learning to apply all of the information I learned here. The new things from yesterday a lone will keep me happy for at least another 100. Then I can look into getting serious with a scout. I think I can come here with specific questions and get help when needed. Only down side to that is sometimes we don't know the questions we are supposed to be asking. New people have it easy relative to what the old hands had to go through figuring it out. You have been a huge influence and I will claim you as my mentor to anyone who wants to know. I think it is really awesome that it is all here for anyone that wants to read and apply it. Potentially many people will benefit. Edited an earlier post to remove most of my alt names. I'm not getting accused of cheating like you but I am getting a lot of "you are still trash come back in another 100 so we can kill you like a *****" type of thing. Only been going on for a few days can't imagine how tired of it you muse be. Weird but these people always seem to be those that have a lot of zeroes at the end of the match. Here is the edit: I am already getting trolled in game over the cluster missile challenge later in this post. After seeing what a friend is going through I decided to remove most of the alt names before it gets any worse. I use a lot of Mandarin names and some of the racism is retarded. I'm not even Chinese I am American. Mo-Rons. Ignore list is growing a little bit too. Keeping up the toons I used to work on the challenge. It is nice to see and fly with all the cool people I have gotten to know a little bit. Luc - always appreciated here my friend. Hope you make it back.
15. It was in a match you were pressured in a GS by my team and switched ships. Did not actually know it was you until the next day on youtube. I thought I FINALLY had you and then .... suddenly you were off center and I couldn't hit your ship. Next thing I was spawning. I was like what the heck just happened there?
16. you actually did this to me in a match last week or so. Do you remember? You must have strafed left for a second because you were there then not there. I meant to ask about it and forgot.
17. skipped forward to see a joust. I get what you are saying now. All I can say is :D:D:D:D:D this is the way. I will go watch the full match and the other vid now.
18. Thanks I will check these out. For me right now if I am up against a strike with ions/quads/torps or heavies/quads/torps they easily out range me and I am half destroyed by the time I get in range for good rapid damage. I do start with the heavies ofc. I like to start and end with them when possible. Normally don't try for a cluster but I should be. This is against good pilots I should point out. 1500m - start rapids, retro when (if) they launch, swap to heavy and good night. Only the better pilots can get a torp off at that range. From what I have noticed anyway. edit: hope that last line makes sense. I try to charge when jousting so it is over fast. If I am on target it's been working great.
19. Oh yeah for sure. I only meant for when they run away. Seems to be becoming a thing. Good luck catching up. Can be persistent with pursuit and chase them around. will eventually get them. Also, anything I said about scout fighting doesn't count for the 3% that can fly the daylights out of one. Also will ad you are at a serious range and weapon disadvantage against other strikes. Don't even think about jousting one with this build unless you are at about 1500 meters. Then its a guaranteed (almost) win. Pile driving reminded me of it. Have not tried it much yet. I will for sure though.
20. whoops meant to preview and hit submit. All I want to add is that moving forward for me ... I will re equip edit: concussions and keep flying this ship for a few more weeks. Still a lot it can tech me. Not on the same alt though, Going back to flying the weeklies across my account to stock pile fleet comms for the goods I hope we get in 7.0. Luc, thanks again man and GL! I will keep all these things in mind until I don't have to think about them anymore.
21. oh nice! Glad I got this up before your sub ran out. Looks like I did better than I thought, just not as well as I was hoping. Now that we have Luc's analysis I will share that my private goals were 7 kills avg, 2:1 KDR, with 50k avg dmg and 50% accuracy. I fell short and did not like that. Sorry the screenies are so huge. No idea what happened there or how to fix it. I will type some of the final numbers here for reference. Anyone that wants to verify will have to scroll until what you want to see is in the center of your screen. Pretend you are lining up a blaster kill:rak_03: Battles: 100 win/loss% : 58 Avg kills: 5.96 avg assist: 7.36 kill/death ratio: 1.76 avg damage: 39,525.64 missiles fired: 442 accuracy: 46.40% The missile number is a little bit skewed. 4.42 per match is low. Remember I flew 36 matches before I fired one. I didn't use many because they are almost useless but I did use more than that. Last 20 matches or so ran out twice and swapped to Pierce. If we calculate on 64 matches 6.9/match. I was using them on anything that moved at the end just to try and get my avg damage up. Thoughts on this ship build: In Domination it is great. You are (or should be) fighting on nodes where the short range and double turning give you an advantage. Even against scouts. Bombers take forever to burn down with rapids but you can easily out fly them. Even with an interdiction effect present can still maneuver a little bit. In Denon - stagger your approach to recharge engines. You can make it but you won't have anything in the tank to fight with. I learned to LOVE this build for Dom. Team Death Match is a different story. You are slower than the other strikes, catching scouts is a joke unless they make a mistake. You have what amounts to no missiles and will have to rely on your heavies a lot while on approach (5500 - 2500M is what I use) to your target. This means your target MUST be centered. Heavies are unforgiving. Wreck everything though so you get a nice trade off for flying well. Gone are the days of staying out of the crowd in TDM and sniping with a missile or hoping someone comes in range for a blaster shot. You can't catch anyone so don't try. Instead you have to get rough up in the enemy crowd and fly in range of your blasters. This means you will be flying 2 - 4 vs 1 at all times. If there's a good vet on your team wing with them and cover each other. They will already know how to do this so just stick like a mosquito. You will learn to use terrain as cover.
22. Mission complete. Did you guys give up on me? Luc - if you read this; thanks again. I mean it. Read you are leaving GSF and I wish you the best. I will miss our conversations and your encouragement. Added a link to your solo win guide to page 1. Nice work. Well I got off to a great start and then things moved in decimals for about 40 matches. Saturday afternoon/evening they moved backwards while I got my butt kicked for about 6 hours. The big guns were out to play. That was also the day I learned the most. I still make the same mistakes, only not as often. Also learned a new trick or two. Here are the results - Page1: https://i.imgur.com/NX7mPZU.jpg[/img]"] Page 2: https://i.imgur.com/1Jxfzf1.jpg[/img]"] I have mixed feeling about the results. On the one hand there is clear and obvious improvement in every category. That feels pretty good. On the other hand I didn't do as well as I wanted to and I am disappointed. I don't know if these are "good" or "bad" numbers - nothing to compare them to. What I do know is that I wanted to do better. Some really fun things happened. Already showed my 12 kill achv. Here is my 15 (16). This was extra fun because many were kills vs scouts on nodes in an extremely close match. Here is what I think is my best match. Not the best number match. Not bad either though. Felt like it is the one I made the fewest mistakes. Can't see that on a stat line, here it is anyway. Here is one with 63% accuracy. Not great otherwise. Tells me I can do much better in the accuracy department. This was match 100/100. Well I don't know where to go from here with this. I was hoping to read Luc's analysis of the results to see how I did. Drak would you mind? I honestly don't know if I did any good or not. Some good things Yes for sure. Overall the dmg and acc numbers seemed pretty weak to me. For now I will just pass it on and say this is well worth doing. Might hit a rough patch just keep at it. I OFFICIALLY DOUBLE DOG DARE YOU, (whomever you are), TO FLY THIS SHIP FOR 100 MATCHES. I agreed with Luc before that lasers are important. Now I wish to reinforce his opinion that everyone should learn to fly without missiles.
23. Hey just wanted to say congrats. That one isn't even on my radar yet.
