  1. People were complaining because a hypercrate could very well yield more old items than new with way too many chance cubes, resulting in greatly varying crate values.

They were also complaining because the 'silver' items were on the level of previous bronze items quality/rarity/design-wise, but cost more to unlock in collections because of their rarity rating.

And those people were morons. Now your cubes are basically replaced with a 5k item, for a net loss of about 3-400k a pack. Bronze items are essentially worthless from a credit standpoint (silver too for that matter). The cubes were where the bulk of a hyper rates value was. You could sell the cubes and easily buy whatever gold item you were chasing. So now we get 6 or so more filler bronze items, the value of packs plummets AND BW raises prices.

The new packs have a whopping 5 bronze items that you are going to be sick of because these 5 items are going to comprise about 50% of all pack contents. 2 chairs, a pet, one armor and one mount. None of which will be worth jack squat by the end of the week. Enjoy drowning in the glut of your "new" items people who whined about the cubes...

Unless you had maxed your entire collection, you had a much better chance of getting something "new" (as in you didnt own) with chance cubes replacing bronze.

  2. You're right, I've used the wrong term. It was 5 packs of each. But when I consider that these 10 crates are worth 1900 cartel coins, which is worth around 15 euros, and the worthless content I got for it, hypercrates or not, it was just clearly not worth it.

I'm not arguing that chance cubes are worst than what we had before, I'm arguing that I'd like to have a way to either choose the items I want and stop the randomness nonsense that both the crates and the chance cube feature; or to at least have a better drop ratio that could allow me to get a better chance of getting what I really want, or to at least buy the items I wanted by selling the items I've got. I won't buy another crate until one of these things happen. That's all.

Good news! There in fact IS a method to getting what you want. It's called the market, and the cubes present a much better path to actually getting something worthwhile than the bronze (or even silver) item you would have received in their place. The cubes sell for much more than essentially anything but a gold in any given pack. Want that silver mount in the current pack? You could get easily buy 3 for what you'd get selling one of the cubes you are complaining about.

Those same packs, in bronze style (ie, replacing each cube with a bronze item), would have been worth way less.

  3. Chance cubes aren't going away but next pack will bring back bronze items, i kind of expect both camps to be unhappy, personally i wish they would just release two types of packs/crates one with cubes another without, not sure how feasible that is but on theory it sounds easy.

Oh, that would me awesome, because it would finallay show the pro-bronze camp how terrible bronzes are. The poor bastards who buy the bronze crates are flooded in the same 6 or so bronze items, and dump them for 1000 credits each. The cube buyers instead get cubes they can either open or sell for 3-400k, and get to snap up cheap bronzes, assuming anything is actually produced worth a damn in the bronze pool.

  4. i said it before, i actually like the chane cubes.

remember how it was before they where introduced ?

you had like 15 bronze rifles, 10 bronze blasters, 10 bronze sniper rifles and of course 20 boxes of the same bronze armor.... the cubes replaced the heavy drop of bronze items which i like more, because sometimes i get really nice items out of the cubes.. never gotten a unstable light saber out of a pack, but twice out of cubes :D

    that said:

i agree that the chances to grab better items should be a bit higher and the drop rate of the cubes a bit lower

This guy gets it. In the cube crates, you'd open a hypercrate, get 30 or so cubes, and if you were so inclined, sell the cubes for 10-12 million, easily enough for multiple of the best golds in the crate (barring arbiter sabers). Now you'll end up with about 30k.

  5. Yes we get you are a business and you have to make money. But do you see these forums? That's a rhetorical question, you have a lot of unhappy customers I feel like I am being screwed over when I open these packs and I know for sure I am not the only one. If you feel the same please sign and explain your reasons. I think its about time someone made this post so I got a jump on it.

Bronze items from un-embargoed packs are essentially worthless, as they glut the market instantly. Cubes had actual resale value, and introduced past items in short supply. I cn only hope cubes are more common than new bronze items in the same slot.

Caving to the uninformed idiots whining about chance cubes is a huge mistake. Enjoy your extra 6 crap items that will go for under 5k on the market and the return of most packs being a complete waste. With cubes, at least you could resell the cube for 3-400K or so if you didnt get a gold or decent silver item.

  6. So, I managed to score 3 Acklays, 3 Droids (the new companion), an Unstable Lightsabre, an army of Raptors, and a few odds and ends along the way. Unfortunately, I was unable to garner even a single piece of the new "Satele" set.

    Now I'm savagely depressed. :(

Those Satele sets will end up under 1 million per box in a week or two tops. Sell one of those acklays and you can buy the full outfit tomorrow.

Man, I just realized this set has 50% less new armors/mounts than the previous one. Rates for the silvers are going to be garbage. I actually hope they upped the cube drop rate to preserve the pack value.

  7. And those companions would be the ones who like courting gifts no matter what their relationship status; for them, courting gifts are not broken. Talos Drellik. Malavai Quinn (surprisingly). Nico Okarr, as well; and I'm not sure of any others.

Doc on Jedi Knight, even if your character is male. They are his favorite (or whatever the highest influence gain is called). I can only assume he's banking them to give out to other women later.

  8. Thats not accurate. Unless you know before you start flirting what kind of alignment is required to get the flirt option. Companions reject certain alignments so they actually do say no. They also say yes if you behave appropriate. You dont get the option if you behave like a dick to her.

It actually doesnt matter how you have treated them previously, other than I believe Vette requiring the slave collar off to romance. Once you choose "Flirt" they are forced to be yours.

The people trying to hide their homophobia behind claims of protecting NPC's from gay conversion are *********** laughable. I hope they are also against NPC customization. Oh no, you forced Quinn to become black!

  9. So it's OK to force them to be LGBT just because they're fictional? I'm not saying that gaming in anyway affects your personality - that's the argument used by people saying violent games makes you violent - but to imply that people can change just because you want them to, and say the right thing, is probably going to harm the equality that LGBT people are fighting for.

You seem overly concerned with the rights of a bunch of 1's and 0's. How about this... in no case do you flirt with someone and they hardcore reject you. You are literally forcing them to romance you the moment you choose to engage in romance with them. Basically mind ****** them into being your partner. The moment a male bounty hunter flirts with Mako, she loses the right to say no. Wont someone think of the NPC's?!

  10. You got that right. Probably a lot of people hate a person like me who talks like I just did. Oh well. The door swings both ways on that one. Take a look in the mirror when you say that next time.

Wont someone think of the bigots? No one tolerates their intolerance!

  11. Quite frankly, no. There need to be at least some companions that are straight.

There are. They are the ones you choose not to flirt with (or cant). Essentially Schroedinger's Sexuality, uncertain until you the player decide. Plus its not like you can tell if someone else's Vette is romanced by their female warrior.

There are only a few companions whose sexuality seems determined outside of you choosing to romance them. Mako is into Torian, implying she is straight (or bi I guess). Doc is definitely into the ladies, so is straight or the most overcompensating closeted guy ever. Probably some others, but basically they are asexual until you decide to confirm a preference by flirting with them (which again, might just mean they are bi).

If someone is so homophobic they cant stand the idea of a gay Quinn in someone ELSE'S story, I don't know what to say.

  12. I reserve my bottom 2 rows of inventory for blue/purple rank 5's on my characters, since everyone has a gift gathering skill. Rank 4 and below I use on the spot with whatever companion accepts them best. It's not worth it to save an inventory spot to maximize effectiveness on a rank 3 gift for some companion I might acquire someday.
  13. A similar subject recently came up in another thread; here.

I'm personally with Xia on this. Not everyone is straight/bi/homosexual and companions shouldn't be either. KotFE provides 3 new companions who swing any which way and that's nice but to apply that to all past companions? I'm not really a fan of that idea.

"Hey Jorgan my lovable doting husband, how've you been?"

"Great! I became bisexual in the past 5 years we spent apart!"

.. I'm not seeing it, you know? It could work for someone like Kaliyo who's made no secret of the fact she'll basically jump on whichever suits her but that's about it.

How would you know if "your" Jorgan became bi/gay? It's not like you are privy to someone else's romance cutscenes.

Opening up the returning companions to anyone is a non-issue. Either you romanced them previously, and their sexuality was established, or you didnt and it wasnt. Maybe they werent into you until the events of KOTFE.

  14. Why did you make Kallig's lightsaber unmoddable?

Have you received it since the patch? My understanding was "no modifications" meant an empty orange shell, not that it was an item with fixed stats.

  15. Reading this made me sad... BW abandoned this game , now is money grab.

    And you support it :(

Why? That was a good crate. Or are we going to pitch a hissyfit if we dont get an unstable sabers in every pack? Oh wait, I know the answer to that...

  16. Offering less value for the same or higher price is a ripoff. It's not up to debate.

What exactly are you getting less of? The only thing I see missing is cartel certs. The stupid exp boosts aren't missed. 2 items, scrap and a gift. The market has decided they prefer a cube to one of a tiny pool of bronze items (or indeed any silver item other than a classic vibrosword).

  17. Oh, I think I understand what you mean... you are not talking about the chance of getting a certain item, you're talking about how many tries you have of getting it. Which, I believe, no one is even slighty interested in.

To know the actual chances of getting said item, you need to know, as you say, the number of rolls you have. Then you also have to know the roll mechanics, what are the propabilities of getting a certain result...let's say, for the point of argument, that the chances are 60% to get a chance cube, 30% to get a silver item, and 10% to get a gold one. These bear no relation to the actual propabilites of course. Now, you need to calculate the amount of silver items, and the amount of gold items...

    Silver:

There's 3 Darth Skotia boxes, 3 Squadron Commander boxes, 3 Exiled Knight boxes, 3 Merc Slicer boxes, Uxibeast, 4 crystals, Korrealis Marquis, 3 Vibroswords, astromech droid and 3 insurrectionist blasters. 25 items.

    Gold:

3 Resistance Fighter armor boxes, Koensayr Revolution, Kybuck, Warbot, 3 Underworld Anarchist armor packs, 3 Zakuul Knight Commander packs, Zakuulan luxury sidecar, 2 arbiter lightsabers and a rancor. 16 items.

Now, on top of all that, most of us suspect that there are special tiers within the gold, and why not the silver items as well, for example, that it is more likely to get a Resistance Fighter's armor pack than it is to get an Unstable Arbiter's lightsaber, since they seem to be much rarer on most servers. However, there is no proof of this, so we'll let it slide.

So, with my guessed chances, proposing that the chances between getting gold items are equal, the chance of you getting an Unstable Arbiter's Lightsaber is 10% chance of getting a gold item divided by the number of gold items, 16. 1,6%. Per roll. 0,1/16=0,016=1,6%. You get 760 rolls, all of them with a 1,6% chance of getting the Arbiter's lightsaber, or 3,2% chance of getting one of them.

Now, my maths could be flawed, and I know my percentages are... but at least it is a tiny bit more useful.

Thanks for breaking it down, though you forgot decorations (luxury spa is gold for example). Its kind of hard to know what decos are in each pack, since they arent in collections for some stupid reason. So the chance is even lower!

  18. Corp shirt or jersey? What exactly did you get as I didn't think any of that crap was gold rated?

None actually, its fear of that which dissuaded me from ever buying a gold armor pack. They all show as gold in collections, along with crap like Seberists Body armor and other regular gear.

Should have clarified I got a gold mount pack, and snagged a jungle gundark, GTM price of approximately 1 million. Or you know 3 of those chance cubes everyone claims to hate! Seems better to flip the cubes/items and just buy what you want from the GTM really than risk it on a high end gold pack.

  19. You've got to be kidding.... huh. I guess I'll have to research this. If true, at least they'll hold some sort of value.

Yeah, they are literally the best thing you could get aside from a very few items. Worth far more than anything but the highest end items in the past few packs. People piss and moan and whine and lie on the forums, but they are widely popular and represent a much needed means of getting old items into circulation without being bent over the counter for almost $20 bucks a pop on a gold pack.

  20. This was probably never answered, but do the chance cubes from Gold and Silver packs of certain varieties, give rewards based on the variety of the pack?

So let's say I get a golden armor pack, and I get a chance cube inside instead of, y'know, the golden armor. Will that chance cube give me something armor-related, or do I run the risk of having paid almost twenty bucks for a ball toss?

No, they arent in the B/S/G packs (which arent on sale). Which are a total rip off BTW compared to the chance cubes. There's a ton of garbage watering down that gold armor pool (jerseys, corp shirts). Most golds are a couple million or less, which by my account (or the gold spammers for that matter) sure is worth a hell of a lot less than the $15+ I paid for a random one.
