Hi - just a very belated post to say we're still going strong, with Episode 77 released in the past couple of days:
http://oceanicgamer.com/2014/05/flash-point-77/
The first half of the podcast is 100% SWTOR, then we tend to cover other MMOs and related stuff in the second half
-
Ep 41 is up as of now:
http://oceanicgamer.com/2012/09/flash-point-41-short-rant-is-feasible/
Points of discussion:
SWTOR
- 1.4 update on PTS
- Shout-out to Jem for her great Mercernary/Commando 1.4 expert panel
- Speculation on 1.4 dropping this week
- Remaining active SWTOR podcasts discussion (Reddit link)
-
Well put, couldn't agree more.
-
You think Bioware will read this?
I'm not fazed either way to be honest. I just thought Jem did a great job pulling together some experienced players to discuss the changes...

A snippet:
There’s nothing so embarrassing as trying to go up a hill in the wrong gear. You can hear the engine struggle and have to endure the amused smiles from passengers in other cars as they bomb past you. Unless you are a complete idiot, you will change down gears.
This is clearly BioWare Austin’s revised philosophy as Bioware’s Executive Producer for Live Services, Jeff Hickman, has pointed out in a recent interview with Zam.com. Lets face it, BW has become notorious for offering up big promises of things ‘coming soon’ but for the most part it’s been a bad case of over-promising and under-delivering. It look like this is changing – hopefully.

We're still proud to be going and we're coming up to our 40th fortnightly podcast
-
For me, checking out the scenery is a big part of enjoyment, so I'm happy with travel times how they are
-
As long I am interested in the game and I get some nice content updates every now and then I don't mind paying my monthly fee!
Exactly - I think it's the interest for some people that's an issue...
-
For sure profits are always the ulterior motive but I'm not convinced the subscription cat has been skinned all the ways it could be
-
Well I think it's certainly possible to have a sub for a MMO, but you have to have a B2P option as well for all those unwilling to pay a monthly fee, then you have to decide what's the difference between having a sub and no sub, and the easiest answer would be that subs get free access to all the content updates
Absolutely, as a minimum I reckon.
-
That's always the 64K question: to sub or not to sub as a business model. Everyone says the sub model is dead - I'm still not convinced on that....

Money. We all need it, we all use it. Without money we couldn’t get what we need, or more frequently what we merely desire. As we’ve all learnt over the past few years, the value of any currency bobs about like a dead Gungan in a fast flowing river, so what type of currency you get makes all the difference. What can you buy with it? Is it a silver dollar or a Zimbabwean dollar?
Which brings me to the bright and shiny new currency, Cartel Coins, that are part of BioWare’s new brand of bling to retain existing players and win back some of the jaded masses. By their own admission, they are struggling to keep people’s interest, either because players have become bored with the existing content, the game doesn’t play the way they want or offer the playstyle they like. Even worse, new games like Guild Wars 2 or upcoming expansions for existing games (WoW, Rift) are proving far more enticing.
The idea of rewarding those of us who are sticking with SWTOR with a rapidly increasing pile of virtual dosh is a good one and they’ve given us a rough idea of the sorts of things we can buy, but they’ve given us no idea of our money pile’s relative value.

Hi everyone,
Flash Point is a podcast devoted primarily to SWTOR, with some coverage of other MMOs as well. We've been podcasting since well before launch. We publish a new episode each fortnight on a Sunday evening (Sunday morning US West coast). Whilst mostly focused on Australian and New Zealand players, we talk about the game generally so we have a good audience world wide.
All the info on the podcast can be found here - we'll post a link to each new episode here as it appears.
The podcast is also part of our website, The Oceanic Gamer (formerly TOROZ), which also covers SWTOR news.
Many thanks
David

This isn't a flight-simulator game. The space combat will get some improvements but it will never, ever be a focal point of this game.
+1 - nore would I want it to be the focus

Episode 33 has landed:
http://toroz.com.au/2012/05/flash-point-33-nutless-monkeys-and-lightwhips/
- Drop in subscriber numbers
- BioWare layoffs / Stephen Reid's departure
- 1.3 conjecture
- Lore Update: Light Sabers!
- Random Diablo 3 chat
-
Haydos, if your guild wants a profile on TOROZ, let me know via the site (details in sig)
-
This is the first MMO where I'm actually keen to roll alts, so for me that's a big positive.
-
See I love PvP but only do it casually, so I'm pretty happy but can see there are still issues needing resolving.
-
Another fan of the game here - but I'm always amused by the 'black and whiters' who say EVERYTHING sucks or that it's perfect
-
Episode 32 is hot off the presses:
