  1. I agree. SOE does suck. DC Universe Online was a major disappointment.
  2. Like many other people, I am enjoying the story of the game so far. I am in no rush to make level 50 as I am enjoying the journey of getting there. I do think that there needs to be some really good story driven end game content for people that do reach level 50. For me when I reach level 50, I am going to make another character and play that character to level 50. Right now I have a Jedi Warrior, next I am going to do a Sith. I think that BioWare has done an excellent job at the game so far. The only gripe that I have right now and it is a minor gripe, is the lack of costume customization. This is only a gripe because in DC Universe we had a good deal of costume customization from the start. This for me is not really an issue though. In that game I reached level 30 and then lost interest because it really just fell short for me. The end game content was boring and in my mind was not worth the subscription fee. That is what is going to keep this game alive, end game content, updates and expansion packs. On the other hand if you are playing 8 hours a day or more, then the game is not going to last that long.
  3. I am really enjoying the game. I have played a trial of WOW and found it to be clunky and slow (even though I was running an i7 machine with 12 gig RAM nvidia graphics etc etc). After that I tried Rift and I was really enjoying that game as well, which I think is infinitely better than WOW. I honestly think that Blizzard should have kept Warcraft like Starcraft but that is my opinion. Now when I played Star Wars, I have really enjoyed the experience thus far. Yeah I agree that it is not the perfect game and as a matter of fact there are no perfect games. The thing about Star Wars though is that the game is beautiful. The colors are very vibrant. It really makes other MMO's look bad in my opinion. Honestly I am happy with the experience that I am having with the game so far. The game is very story driven, and having interactive dialog with npc's is great. I think that the best thing about the game is that its Star Wars! Really if you do not like a game then don't play it. It really is not that serious. Either you like it or you don't. I have purchased games before that I ended up not liking and purchased games that I did like. Again it really isn't that serious. The game is not a giant disappointment in my mind. I think that it is a very enjoyable experience and a good break from work and graduate school. I mean what Star Wars fan does not want to run around as a Sith, Jedi or another character type in the Star Wars universe?
  4. If Anakin was created by Darth Plagueis, since Plagueis was a Sith and practiced the Dark Side of the Force this would conclude that Anakin would have been the embodiment of the Dark Side. From what we can tell, he was not the embodiment of the Dark Side but was naive and was manipulated by Palpatine / Sideous. Palpatine killed Plagueis in his sleep when he found out Plagueis' plan concerning creating the perfect apprentice. Palpatine never learned this force ability. The idea that the force created Anakin gives life to the force and almost makes the force a sentient being instead of a "power." The prophecy was concerning bringing balance to the force in essence the Ying and the Yang (so to speak). I would say that we can rule out Palpatine and Plagueis as creators (Palpatines insinuation likely was a way to manipulate Anakin and seduce him to the dark side). I think that the best way to look at it is that he was created by the force. This makes the story so much more tragic if you think about it. Anakin was created to become the most powerful force user. He was designed to bring balance to the force. Anakin gave in to the dark side and threw away his potential. I think that this tragedy is a what if story. What if a major religious figure chose to be evil and selfish? That is the story of Darth Vader. Anakin a being who was meant to be perfect and bring balance to the force gave into the temptation of power and evil. In the end through seeing his son stand for Jedi ideals allowed Anakin a final act of redemption.
  5. I have to agree with the general consensus that the prequels were not the greatest movies ever made. I can also agree that they did not have that cohesive feel that the original trilogy has and that is mostly due to story and actors. One of the most disappointing things about the prequels which the original trilogy suffers from is that the movies feel rushed. The Star Wars Universe is so massive and can be overwhelming though too much is put into the movie then it suffers a similar fate of Spiderman 3 to where there is just too much going on and the story suffers because of it. For me the most disappointing thing about the original trilogy was the final showdown with Anakin and Obi-Wan. This was supposed to be the epic climax of the whole prequel trilogy. Obi-Wan should have barely walked away from that battle. Anakin was supposed to be the most powerful force user ever. This final fight just was not as epic as what it could have been. I also agree with another comment that Obi-Wan is really an underrated character. In the way that he was portrayed at least looking at Episode I and Episode III. The inconsistency with this is the fact that Count Dooku owned Obi-Wan in battle when Anakin easily manhandled Count Dooku. So when you have Anakin vs. Obi-Wan, it really should have been something more memorable. I feel like it was rushed cheap and we the fans were cheated of an epic confrontation that would set the tone for the original trilogy.
