No, the Op has a valid point. I work in IT and we manage several large clients who we have to organise patching windows for. Any downtime we commit to has a cost in man hours where our clients can't work. We do our very best to both minimise and accurately predict how long this will take. Obviously it is better to err on the side of caution and bring them back early but quoting and outage of twice as long as it takes is ridiculous.
Being in Aus and having down times in my peak play period I've kept an eye on them. For swtor 8Hrs generally seems to mean servers back up in 2-4hours. 2 hour outage means see you in 4-6 hours.
If I pulled this **** with my clients I would expect at the very least a stern talking to and having to explain myself to a board about why my estimates were so far off considering it is my job to know this.
I see enough of my gf as it is. It bums me out when I schedule a night with her on a weeknight, usually my personal time, to score extra bf points then find out the servers are back up before we even get back from dinner.
So far I am very happy with pretty much every aspect of this game. Hence my upset about being separated from it. My only real gripe with the game so far is their inability to manage down times in a realistic manner.
TL/DR - F you for having a short attention span.
