  1. I keep reading or hearing about from players how much the Sentinel has been gimped. Now I have left those two Specs to the players who run them on Combat and Watchmen to agree on those numbers but I use Concentration and I have yet to feel the pain players are saying of the DPS killing on my favorite class in the game. I finally decided to battle my ship dummy with the armor reduction mod and the 1m hp mod set on it and went to town on it. Gear wise I am in a lot of 198s (non set) and a number of 192s (2 set bonus) as well as being fully augmented out. Anyways that aside after spending the fight with my ship droid I opened with a nice 5.5 parse with my Concentration Rotation with proper beginning setup. After fighting the droid I parsed a nice 3.5 overall. With obvious times of spiking back into the 5 area when the Concentration Spec was running in full swing. This is expected for me and known since this setup is and has always been bursty. So I am just curious why players still feel the class is ****ed up when I do not feel it. Is it really just the players who use the other two Disciplines that were affected? I guess I will have to say I feel a little squishier overall even with my Defensive Cool downs. Makes me feel like a Melee Glass Cannon again.
  2. 2nd year into the game and heading into Strongholds and the NPC still has yet to have an icon. I shall bump this till we get it.
  3. They like to add more cosmetic stuff from ole and new. Keep up posts like this so we can just....rehash old gear in a new way. Like the old JK PvP armor being in the new packs now....
  4. From a business standpoint as a F2P game they would like to make money on the game but not make the source of this a primary function. You do not need to use the Cartel Market for any reason other than vanity for the most part. The exception to this is if you are F2P and want to purchase unlocks to your account to make things better to play without subbing. This is optional. Considering the lack of actual content on a continual basis such as Expansions or the like they update the Cartel Market with items. The majority of the Cartel Market is Vanity Gear. Meaning you don't need it to play at all. I myself on occasion will by a Hypercrate but I don't go crazy on it nor need to do so. If you are trying to say you want to see more ingame expansion released vs cartel market expansion then why not say that first since you are wrong on how people focus only on the CM vs the actual game?
  5. This is I think the only NPC on Fleet that has no icon on them to let you know you can respec. Why this hasn't been changed yet is just boggly. A lot of newbies run right through all this stuff. I think picking an Advanced Class should also start a mission upon hitting lvl 10 regardless if you are on a starting planet or not. This way Fleet or Corellia no longer have the, " Where do I pick up my advanced class?" question all the time.
  6. Well then I guess a lot of hope for this game is done for me. Back to Final Fantasy 14 then
  7. The Force is Disturbing in this posting. Carry on with your robo fetish but know that T7 doesn't love you that way.
  8. So I love finding all the Watchmen and Combat guides on Forums and find it funny no one ever writes out a Focus tree guide. This tree is in the game for a reason and it is a useful tree regardless of what some people may say. If someone tells you this skill tree is pvp only. They are single minded and need to learn how to utilize the Skill Trees the Sentinel has to offer. As a Sentinel you are one of the most diverse DPS classes in the game. You have three strong options to choose from. Watchman ( Single Target Damage Over Time with Soft Healing ) Combat ( Single Target Damage with Utility ) Focus ( Burst Area of Effect Damage ) So with that being said I shall attempt to give unto you all a touch of the Focus Tree from what I have done with it over the years. Focus of the Tree: The point of this tree is AoE Burst DPS. AoE is AREA OF EFFECT for those who may not know what that stands for. It is to decimate multiple targets at once that are in a small area together. How to maximize Focus Spec: When you use Focus you want to get as many targets in a small group as possible to maximize the dps you will dish out. This can be done in most cases by utilizing your surroundings and forcing the enemy to LOS ( Line of Site ) to you such as in small corridors and what not. The large focus of the tree will be to try and gather at least 5 targets together at any given time. This is a small touch onto how to get it done but the goal is to have as much together in one neat little area so that you can take them down as soon as possible. Gearing Sub Stats for Focus Tree: Gearing for the tree basis of stats is open to you as a player. Going with high main stat is fine as well as not going for it. This tree to a degree doesn't have to rely on specific stats to be viable but if you plan to do endgame you may want to look into specifics. For this tree though I will point to what I find most useful. Crit Rating Surge Power Accuracy Now Crit Rating is really good to proc with anything other than Force Sweep since the tree itself allows you to have an automatic 100% Crit Chance with Force Sweep when certain conditions are met. Still crit is good for all of your other skills to further increase your DPS when not using Force Sweep. Surge is where your Force Sweep will shine since it is your focus skill use. Due to having a 100% Crit Chance at use it is always at its prime damage when you use it so the higher your Surge the bigger this skill will turn out. Power I put onto high want since it is a large viable ability as it increases all healing/dps attacks/skills by a marginal amount and has a very higher DR (diminishing return) vs other abilities. Accuracy is always useful. All that DPS doesn't mean **** if you can't hit right? If you have at least 100% you are okay. Higher is always nice and for those of you who run endgame the 110% is where you want it as standard for those who run HM or NMM Operations. Skill Point Settup: Well this one is a pretty direct way to build. Now you can always alter this to what you find more useful but in my time doing more PvE than PvP now, I find with the current setups of Skill Trees that this is what I will find best to use on the Focus Sentinel. 2 points in Watchman ( both in Valor ability ) 8 points in Combat ( 3 points in Steadfast, 2 points Defensive Forms and 3 points in Dual Wield Mastery ) 36 points in Focus ( Everything should be maxed out on this tree with the exception of Incisor and Enduring ) As much as I found Incisor useful in combat when immobilized I found that the points spent on it were not as viable for dpsing when in groups that can assist you in CC moments. Combat Essential Points: 1: Never waste a Force Sweep when you are not under the effects of Felling Blow and Singularity. If you do you are wasting the largest amount of DPS you will receive on the tree. 2: Try not to use Master's Strike until after a Force Sweep. The reason for this is anytime you Force Sweep an opponent you have a bonus to DPS for the next 6 seconds. I usually use Cauterize and Master's Strike during this buff moment as well as Blade Storm. 3: When using your AoE non Force Sweep Skills make sure you face your character in the best position possible to hit as many foes as once. Cyclone Slash and Twin Saber Throw are great to help keep DPS going on your numbers but not if you don't move. Moving doesn't mean you are doing less DPS. Make sure to maneuver a bit so that Twin Saber Throw for example will hit every foe you want. 4: Make sure you are in Shii Cho form. Your other forms don't do **** for you in this Skill Tree. Opening Salvo to most combat situations: Here is the basic opener I use when fighting most opponents. Force Leap = Force Exhaustion = Force Stasis = Force Sweep= Cauterize = Master's Strike This is mytypical opener to a standard fight or almost every fight. Sometimes I change this up but for those of you looking for a good opener this is a good way to maximize the opening DPS you will dish out. Typical Attack Salvo: So with that being said. Here is one type of Attack Rotation you can use to build up to using Focus Tree as a primary DPS tree. Force Leap = Force Exhaustion = Force Stasis = Force Sweep = Cauterize = Master's Strike = Blade Storm = Twin Saber Throw = Zealous Strike = Zealous Leap = Force Exhaustion = Slash = Force Sweep = Zen Attack Rotation Goal: Basically your goal here is to maximize the fastest way to aquire 30 centering before each sweep. You will always start off with Force Exhaustion to aquire your first Force Sweep then from that you want to get 30 centering before your next sweep to have Singularity and Felling Blow buffs to hit the next Sweep. The biggest goal of the tree is between each sweep you will always want to have the 2 buffs in preparation to the next Force Sweep. Once you get this down you will find this tree dishing out some nice DPS. I myself do enjoy seeing a 11,300 Force Sweep Can you solo pve with this tree: Oh dear Gaia yes! I lvled from lvl 1 to 55 with this tree and not once did I have any issues with it even against large foes of elite+. Just know the class limitations and you will do fine. Can you Operations run with this tree: Yes but you will need to know when it is useful and when not. This tree shines in any boss fight that has adds in it. This tree is stil viable in Story Modes against any boss with or without adds but I would suggest changing skill trees when you come to Single Target Fights as to maximize your DPS in the fight. Can you pvp with this tree: Yes. Some pvpers will say they ruined the skill tree with it's changes but they have not.
  9. Revan—renowned as the Revanchist, honored as the Revan, reviled as Revan the Butcher, dreaded as the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Revan, and praised as the Prodigal Knight—was a Human male who played pivotal roles as both Jedi and Sith in the Mandalorian Wars and the Jedi Civil War. Believed to have been born in the Outer Rim Territories, the man later known as Revan was born around the year 3994 BBY and studied under a number of different Jedi Masters as a Padawan of the Jedi Order. So far Revan's real name has not been revealed in the novels either.
  10. Not all Force Users upon becoming a Darth change the name they start with. Some do where as others do not. If you are trying to come up with a colorful name if you want to go down the lines of what most lore characters are but not all is do this. Take a menacing word or a word that would remind you of something bad. Like Maul for example or Hammer and make a play on it. One of my characters is named Geno (or Geeno since Geno was taken) and is to be a play on Genocide.
  11. Bumping this and its been a while for this post. The NPC still has no icon since day 1 for some dumb reason. Bioware are you really trying to make players buy the respect option via legacy cuz if so why the hell would you have the NPC in the game with no icon then? Just take him out.
  12. I would like to bump this because I like to do that sorta thing.
  13. This game is not pay to win as some other games like LOTRO and DDO by Turbine are. I'm sorry your pvp social base sucks on your server but doing pvp as a f2p member isn't as bad as it used to be now that it is unlimited matches with reduced reward for non subs. If you want to get the better stuff yes you have to be subbed and all to get it rolling but if you pvp a lot you will know the high and low times of when to pvp. This is how my old pvp server was for me and I wouldn't get a lot of pvp in on the slow times. Naturally of course.
  14. We have two sub stats in the game. Social which is a pve only stat and ranged 1 to 10. Valor which is a pvp only stat and ranged 1 to 100. Pvp doesn't nor hasn't affected pve in any way since the start. It is it's own separate entity. Right now Valor is a cosmetic stat for no other reason than to aquire titles every 10 lvls and to make certain armor of old that is cosmetic purposes only. So since you loathe pvp the request of Valor to actually be useful again has nothing to affect you in any way nor has it ever so you can ignore that request.
  15. Okay so I have loved and enjoyed SWTOR for the last 2 years. I truly have. I am a player formerly of the LOTRO world and I lived in that world for 5 years without batting an eyelash when any new game came out because it didn't fancy my exit of Middle Earth. SWTOR on the other hand def ruined Middle Earth for me in many ways, all good mind you. Sadly as of late I feel let down. How so? For me the release of true content to the game. This game is now well into it's second year and after the release of The Hutt Cartel I feel the game is slipping into a slowdown period. So my suggestions to give some life to the game will stem to the following ideas. Two New Classes (not needed to be at once). These classes are actually from the original game Bioware made on Xbox that I played but never seemed to make it to this game. Not that I minded in the first year of playing but I'm sorry I do miss playing a new class after playing 4 classes. You read that right. 4 not 8 as some of you may think. Here are my two class suggestions that I would love to see implemented into the game. The Force Adept: This class is actually already in SWTOR by the planet Voss and by the people on it. The idea of a force using religion other than the Sith and Jedi are a large EU add on and fit great into this game. I would love to see the Force Adept implemented into the mix of classes. Advanced Classes for Force Adept: The Force Warrior : This would be an unarmed combat fighter to the game. Some of you would refer to it as a Monk if you look at some other games. I guess that could sum up what this class is. The weapon they would use is a Force Imbued handheld weapon that is not a Lightsaber that they would fight with. This class I would see as a focused dps class that has a build up function to it's attacks in a combo skill run. A attack leads to B attack that leads to C for a series of Finisher type of attacks and they each deal out different types of damage or effects when done right. The Force Mystic : This would be a Support class for the Force Adept. They would fight with an imbued staff of some other two handed non Lightsaber based weapon. The point of this class would be to be a Healing type class that supports the party with buff skills. We don't have a true buff support class but I could see this class as a strong buff class with healing potential that requires an advanced play style to be an effective healing type in any run but when knowing how to play proves to be a well off class as healing. Tech Specialist :The second class I would like to see implemented into the game would be the Tech Specialist. This class fits into the world of SWTOR easily as many former fans of the series already know many Tech Specialists such as Bao Dur. Advanced Classes for the Tech Specialist Decker: Now with the idea of a Buffing Healer type with the Force Mystic I would like to see more support lended to the game. This little wonder would fill the more DPS Buffing type. An offensive buffer for any party or even solo. I would forsee this class as a type that could send out buffs to others in the party and this would unlock new abilities for the Tech Specialist during combat. It would require a little bit more thought than the average DPS type and breathe new flavor to combat in this method. Tech Jockey : Through the use of technology that this class makes themselves since they are a tech specialist they are a tanking type. This tank I see would be more of a strategic tank. I won't kid you when I tank on my Juggernaut / Guardian it is relatively easy vs some other tank classes. I don't mind this. It does get kind of old however for me as a tank and I get bored tanking and tend to avoid it after a bit. So for this tank I thought of a more lively tank type. This tank would bite off the buffing system it's sister advanced class has but would need this to properly tank. Maybe not par say buffs but a series of actions that give it true tanking potential to make a tank's life easier. Much like my Force Warrior idea this would fit the tanking aspect in ways that certain actions lead to specific defensive bonuses that can be utilized on the fly in combat. Not just a run of the mill tank. This tank could adjust to the combat changes on the fly with simple action changes. ( Such as increase it's internal damage defense for foes who do a lot of internal damage vs direct ). I did not go into specifics of either class as I just wanted to convey the basic idea of what the classes would portray into the game. Aside this I did have another class I had an idea for but couldn't think of much for it just yet and this class would be known as The Noble. This again is another class found in the SWTOR universe and in it's other worlds as well leading back to it's roots of KOTOR 1 that was derived off the pen and paper RPG game using the D20 system. EDIT : For those who have played many of the classes the Tech Specialist is somewhat already in the game under the Imperial Agent class and Smuggler classes that are already found within the game. Namely the healing types of both of these classes. The Force Adept however is not since we currently only have Two Force Religions playable in the game at this point and that is the Jedi and Sith. Continued Story Content. I love the storyline of each class in this game. I love the Jedi Knight the most and I miss playing a personalized story for the classes. I read into how this is to costly and junk but I played this game for the story first and foremost because I know Bioware can write a good story. Dragon Age : Origins for example I bought simply because it said Bioware on it and I loved it. DA2 . Meh. Good story but that isn't the debate here. I would really like to see story brought into the game that makes my Jedi Knight feel like he is doing something again that no one else is doing. Makeb for example. Great story for a planet but I missed my Jedi doing his own personal thing on Makeb aside the planet story. PvP additions have grown in a good way for me. I don't pvp like I used to but let me tell you what. It's pretty nice to see Pre Season turn to Season 1 for the first time and that was motivating for me! I would like to see Valor be brought into the game again. Right now it's cosmetic purposes only and if that is the case then lets bring that into the factor so that Valor is more than just a Social level with little point to it. Social Level to be turned LEGACY WIDE. This I think should be Valor as well if it's only going to be cosmetic purposes. I could go on and on on what I brought up on classes and story but I think this covers it for now. Still in the end SWTOR is my favorite MMORPG right now that I keep coming back to and just miss having lvl cap increases and what I have been given in other MMORPGs on a yearly basis. Then again none of them have grade A voice actors doing exceptional voice work.
  16. Maybe answered already or not. I don't know. I read Original Post and felt like I should answer anyways. A pure black lightsaber color crystal in science wouldn't really be possible as it is to be void of anything visible. So you need an outer color to show the black. Like the Black Saber the Mandalorian had in the CW series. Outer edge was white and core was black. The edge was thin white so you mostly only noticed the black of it. They could make one like this in the game and I would love to see it made Although I am still hunting for a Teal crystal myself but that is just beside the point.
  17. I concur. I would like to see a REAL expansion come out. Makeb was nice but I really was looking forward to say, Jedi Knight story continual. So I can once again feel like I am playing my Jedi Knight. For the past year I have hum drummed along in the same content over n over and nothing new for my character.
  18. So it has been two years and I still read this in game on general chat all the time about how to respect and where to go. The NPC hasn't had an icon on his head in 2 years and unless its a ploy to make players purchase the ingame Field Respec option via Legacy I think he should have one by now. I know a lot of older gamers to SWTOR still don't know of this vendor either. They don't respect very often and when they do a lot of them believe the only option was to get the legacy perk. I know I myself spent a lot of time looking around at all the NPCs in the game on the map and just in general sight while playing but I think the vendor should have an icon on the map to help players find him better. I doubt this would ruin the legacy perk in anyway since I use both the vendor and my field respect equally depending on where I may be at at the time.
  19. Okay so we probably already have tons of posts on this but still I wish to make one. So I love the space pvp right now. It is something new to the game which makes it more fun than the normal hum drumm. Plus being a big fan of the pvp in SWTOR already and have to force myself to avoid it or I would be addicted to it like a drug (not kidding), it is a new pvp venue that I overly enjoy. The 3 different types of ships make it interesting to play and gives me a time to add in new combat strategy while playing which is nice. I do find some things a bit odd or just in general want to see in the game added sooner than later. I would like to see either a normal pvp valor implemented to this space pvpness. Kinda missing this. OR if not that I would like to see a separate valor system added. Maybe bring back some valor reward system for vanity such as gear since gear in space pvp is basically cha ching to the ship which is fine in my book. I know this will come later but of course more options such as pain jobs. I would like some black colors for my republic characters
  20. Okay so I came across the tutorials on here and didn't even know they were on the website. These have got to be the best basics play run videos I have seen on an mmo in a long time. Most games I have played you learn by reading the hotkeys or what not on the options and trial by error. http://www.swtor.com/info/tutorials If your new. Watch these little videos. They are all quick and easy to watch and fully explain things to you so your not so lost. Namely the Advanced Trainer one. Maybe it's just me being a completionist but first time running in SWTOR I picked up every mission in the game. Getting the advanced class is probably the easyiest. Right when you get to the fleet and walk out the bay doors to the main area your adv class trainer is right infront of you. How people miss this is just upsetting. Why? If your new why are you skipping missions? Shouldn't be. Your new for a reason and need to slow down. Your journey to 50 (or what ever lvl cap it will be when reading this) is a long road ahead and speeding it up by skipping missions is only a sure fire way to screw you over. Bioware was nice enough to set it so that on your Capital Planet you can get the trainer as well if your in that much of a hurry but if your on Corellia in your 40s and still havn't gotten your Adv Class you really should consider what your doing in the game at that point in my opinion. Slow down. You will be max lvl soon enough. Enjoy the game that Bioware made and play it to it's fullest. They have a lot of missions in the game people skip through that are really fun to be a part of and skipping stuff in the game just makes it harder on you.
  21. I havn't tried any SM Ops with this method nor planned to but why the heck not! Go for it! See what your ops can do by just punching foes to death! Nothing is more manly than punching a Sith in the face and knocking them the funk out!
  22. I find the random conversations in the game added fluff that is nice to have. One that has me laughing from time to time was when I realized they added the "Arrow to the Knee" joke but SWed it up. If you go to Ilum and listen when near the Republic bases you will hear a Troop talking to another one about how he used to be on the front lines till he took a blaster bolt to the knee. It is slightly unnoticed to some as they add more conversation to it after that but it is still in the game and I chuckled. That and the Power Ranger theme sound from T7 units all over the game. If anyone watched Power Rangers in the early 90s you knew the sound it made.
  23. Okay so I have done this and found it fun to try. You know those highly useless Valor attacks we can get via Legacy Bonus by pvping for a while? (valor 15 or 20 for all of them) Who actually uses those? No one I know! So how about this. Let's whip those ******es out and make some fun with them. Here is your challenge if you choose to accept it. For Lvl 50s you have to run through the Normal Mode Esseles Flashpoint with no weapons equipped and can only use your Valor Attacks to defeat foes. Companion use is C2-N2 since he can't equip weapons anyway but will be a healer for you. Special note on C2-N2. You can only use him for the boss fights in the flashpoint. This is to be done solo. Challenge for lower lvl players with Valor Attacks. Still no weapons and only valor attacks. You can take a full party with you. No one can use any attacks other than the Valor attacks. The healer can use heals as long as they do not have to equip a weapon to use any particular heal. The only thing Tanks can use other than valor attacks is the taunts they get to pull agro. For either lvl. No Medpac Consumables to be used but other buff items are permitted! Good Luck and May The Donn Be With You! NOTE: I have done this as a lvl 50 with C2-N2 and finished! Make sure you have some time to play because this could take a while.
  24. I have an Imperial Agent (Sniper) who I have done the same with. I have all of the WZ Exp Boosts to help keep my lvl going at this point and only do the Story Line on a planet then go back to WZ matches to be on lvl to next planet. The lvling progress is slower in my opinion but it is a Challenge mode I have put myself to. Kinda sucks though if you ask me that when it comes to gearing up it seems to take a bit but that's only because I havn't bought the pvp gear yet on her. She is only lvl 20 just now with near max pvp Comms.
  25. I do not see the need for switching AC at 50 or at any point for any amount of credits or cartel points. You have more than enough time to test out the AC before spending to much time into it to truly feel "stuck". By the time you reach lvl 15 to 20 you should know for certain if you like the AC you have chosen or not. Delete and start over. Not that big of a grind. For me I have come to a few things I find I dislike but stick to it so I'm not running the same crap all over my account. My Sith Juggernug is boring as sin to me. I hate tanking. I still have him though because a buddy of mine is a healer and we make a great duo and reaching almost 40 now and the class has just started to become tolerable to me. Before this I was bored with it as the tank tree for Jugg is really simple but that's okay. Second I found my Smuggler healer (forget AC name right) isn't something I really enjoy but I like healing and want to learn how to play it. The Adv Class doesn't truly ruin the game for me though. It allows for me to learn a new play style and for those who PvP you learn ALOT about the classes you fight and can learn a lot more about them by playing them and seeing just what they do to get to what they need to in combat. For the most part people who want this demand to change Adv Class is from what I have seen, players who watch other players play the opposite adv class they didn't choose and see an aspect they like. Like Jedi Guardian seeing a Sentinel rock out a lot of quick DPS and wanting to do the same but can't on a Guardian because that is just not what Guardians do. I have come across a few gamers who only wanted to swap classes because they picked the DPS form first to speed up progression of lvling and then want to be the opposite class since they are comfortable in what they are doing and don't want to dps anymore. Suck up your choice and either reroll or keep rolling. Bioware gave you ample time and opportunity to not screw the pooch on yourself.
