  1. As far as dog fighting goes its not all never ending circles in my experience. Using the x (breaks) to hard stop as you are pitching around to turn towards a foe that is moving will often get you a few seconds for you to unleash a burst of lasers/rockets. Alternatively if you feel confident in your timing/skills at watching your opposing players graphic in your target you can hit your turbo thrusters to get enough distance to give an opening to fire but this puts your opponent in a more advantageous position if they have faster reflexes and see what you are doing first and slow down to lock on to you. I like the gunships in GSF they add something different cant say its better or worse but its different.
  2. NO! It is a free kill for my mastered flashfire... I was too late to get subbed to try the gunship for myself but unless its used with teamwork a lone gunship is not a threat to anyone else's fun. If anything it adds a different layer of fun of having more things to watch out for than missile locks or dog fighting. I have no clue how fun they are to play though so if that's what OP is getting at I can't claim to have any experience on that end of the game.
  3. I fly on Pot5 and for star fighter I find the factions pretty balanced. I even find the matching system puts pub vs pub matches every so often so not sure if we have a slight edge in fliers or not. I really wish I had more free time to join a guild gsf is so meant to be a team game. I love gsf but dont have time to coordinate and focus on flying in a group. If anyone does server transfer however choose the faction you like best our imp pilots are some of the best and we have cool guilds on both sides. More people who can queue up the better for me so I can get more people to play against.
  4. I tried it on a level 4 smuggler got him up to level 10 with just gsf and class quests and bonus kill quests waiting for matches. It was slower than just power leveling spacebar rushing quests but funner. As far as getting bored of the game... I'm one of those guys who enjoys the PvP part of it as long as there are players who are better than me stomping my face in I am not bored. Actually got a few kills on some good players using the basic un-upgraded strike fighter. Was fun for me of course I died 10 times for every kill I got when the good players are out. Versus average/same skill pilots I did not do bad even with no upgrades. Its definitely not a primary way to level ships or characters but I like the game. Will probably stick to maxing my hanger on my main character and only fly on alts to fill time between quests.
  5. I just mastered my Flashfire on my main character! I was about to start working on my pike and others but I wonder how good is the XP from GSF? I have never finished leveling my other 3 classes and I wonder instead of just using one character for my hangar would using other characters to play strike fighter's and the other scout be a decent speed for leveling them? I will probably use my main extra daily/weekly shared ship req to boost up my other ships slowly on my main but has anyone tried leveling solely from GSF? Hard to push myself away from my Flashfire but I need to learn how to fly other ships so I can kill them better. I am an average player but I need to experience other ships to get better. Any advice from more pro players?
  6. Im piliot, Im fly... Berdilio here I am a republic flyer addicted as hell to GSF but I just play casually pretty average player with no guild and limited play time. Half way to fully upgrading my Flashfire though so I usually can help somewhat for whatever team I get randomly slotted with. Once I finish Flashfire I think I will try the pike and see if I can play missile boat as effectively as a dog fighter type. See you in space.
  7. I think your right I even may upgrade both and depending on the group change based on who I am facing more often.
  8. I have a nearly fully upgraded targeting telemetry component and it is awesome especially vs other scouts with so much evasion. I was told however that I should invest in burst overcharge for flashfire. I tried it and it does seem to kill much better strike fighters and gunnships die way faster but its harder to take down scouts. Anyone have any advice on what's truly best of the two? I just seem to run into way more trouble vs other scouts and with either set up I can usually take out the other 2 type of ships.
  9. Yes I have had great success with this build in non rated wzs. I have not done rated pvp due to my guild disbanding a week before rwzs came out but in non rated battle this build destroys all. Still need to be careful vs well played marauders but I have seen a big jump in burst and sustainability. I was worried that +30% dmg would not hit as hard as 50% damage reduction but it seems to hit noticeably higher. Loving the build and thus patch.
  10. Not sure what your going for... Full infill will be more damage than either build and you are not getting any better utility sinking only 12 points in balance for harder crits on double strike. The 31 point infill talent replaces double strike and his harder even on non crits. So I don't think these builds are good for pvp or pve missing to much damage and not really picking up any utility or main infill talents either.
  11. I always use focus so long as it is an upgrade our equal level. More damage its useful against all AC but shield is only good vs a very few type of players. Most pvp damage is not shieldable so its a waste most of the time...the few times you do run into an AC that uses allot of shieldable attacks you notice its ok but rarely worth the damage lost is my opinion... I keep a set of tanking gear incase bioware buffs it down the line but the way the game its right now I only use Dps gear.
  12. Your math is not including the reality of what happens... As a hybrid player I can tell you 23/1/17 is way more single target damage... Did you include all the double strikes critting on the gcd that are between using fib? The reality is you do far superior damage as hybrid single target and are mobile...don't get me wrong a full 31 point kc spec will (skills being equal) beat a hybrid 1v1 due to the damage debuff and higher self healing but no way will full kc out damage hybrid... They may even be close in dps when your full kc can get uninterrupted rotation and no one uses Los or any other stuns on him but the full kc won't win even in best case scenario. With my hybrid I have 25% base crit +5 from buff and +9 from balance for melee only 39% crit chance, 76% base surge + 50% from balance....double strike is more than filler its real damage! I only have 1080 expertise 900 power and 1601 wp so mine don't even hit as hard as full remodded shadows have. TLDR version of above info...I disagree with OP.
  13. Is the Digital CE getting the same as the more expensive Boxed CE? I am guessing its only for the physical CE accounts but just curious as i only bought the Digital CE bonus account for the digital goodies but no box/statue benefits.
  14. I actually have been running full balance with 7 points in kc for the last uh couple of days after running 23/1/17 for months and I agree with the OP. You have more consistent dps with full balance and great kiting utility plus sever force has no care for resolve I love that... But you lose so much survivability you lose the monster projects all that and we are not even talking yet about the utility of breaking snares, out of stealth spinning kick, and my fav force pull.. Only issue I have is the creds I waste on having to respec to pve builds and this build....though for 5 mans 23/1/17 can pull off tanking fairly well but not so great in ops. Though I pvp 90% of my play time any way. Only bad thing I have to say about this build, its the reason I have been trying new builds, is that now every one and their mom is playing it! Though it makes sense it has it all and vs. all the snipers and marauders playing rateds it works very well in this current state of the game.
  15. Try this retarded build out if you want to be squishy have no root or other key survival talents.. http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#601rfMs0MckZoZcRbRrMz.2 Its not for any serious rated players but after my last comment I asked myself can I keep my fav kc talents and get force strike...answer yes but it its pretty bad no slow time or other reliable slows or roots makes you very uh not good... In pugs it actually played so so against a mix of bad players like myself but against any average to good players it was not super effective... When I get home from work I am going to bite the bullet and try full balance build...prob play in pve first to get my rotation down then move to non rated wzs and practice. *** edit my link to my dumb spec was broken ***
