  1. No, it isn't. I get that non-lawyers like to toss around words that have legal meaning outside of that legal meaning. But as pointed out, they delivered quite literally exactly what was promised. Now I get the idea that it is disappointing, but mistakenly calling it false advertising isn't actually helping the situation. This is the fundamental problem (and the point of this thread) - they provided a product (which they explained clearly) that I don't want. The point of feedback is to explain a) why I don't want this product and b) what changes they could make that would make me want the product. Bioware is allowed to sell a product I don't want. But as the livestream shows, they are aware that it is a product that not only do I not want, but that is receiving a negative reception overall. Hopefully they will choose to make a change in the future. I doubt they will ever actually engage in false advertising (they never have in the life of this game at least) but hopefully they will deliver a product that reduces the number of people that erroneously cry out words like "fraud" despite lacking an understanding of the actual parameters of such a thing.
  2. Hi, I'm a sub. I have been since launch. I have no intention of canceling my sub any time in the foreseeable future. I've bought Cartel Coins before, especially when the system was first implemented. I've bought cartel packs before, though not recently. I've even enjoyed opening packs before even though I've never gotten just the item I've wanted. Now to talk about the current pack. I saw the content and was quite excited. Almost everything is at least something I'd be happy to have and much of it (especially the Knight Captain armor) is stuff I actively desire. I figured that this was a good time to buy some cartel coins and pick up a couple of hypercrates. But, as is always the case for me, I decided to look things up online first. And that stopped me from purchasing the coins and, of course, the hypercrates. It isn't a scam - the crate promises no specific return on investment. And it bothers me when people call it fraud (which it quite explicitly isn't). But it is a reality that I was ready to spend money on cartel coins and, given the information I received, I chose not to. I actually don't mind rare things being rare (I was around for the Revan mask). What I actually minded was getting older stuff. If I get a single piece of phantom armor or an elegant dress again, I'll probably claw my eyes out. And emotes? Literally hundreds of the original ones. I actually would happily pay bioware MORE money for a crate that didn't saddle me with the problem of destroying piles and piles of items that they already saddled me with piles and piles of a long, long time ago. TLDR: As a person that has given this game a fair bit of money and therefore has a large amount of older cartel items, this new pack has made me make a decision NOT to purchase more coins to buy this pack. I'm still a sub and this isn't a boycott. I just have no desire to pay money for content I already have. And would happily pay a higher price per pack if it meant I didn't have to destroy piles of redundant items.
  3. Yes, it works on many stuns, snares, and roots. Only those specifically labeled as (Tech) or (Physical). For example, the BH stun is a (Tech) but that doesn't mean all stuns, snares, or roots are. And sometimes it isn't intuitive (especially in PvE). In PvP it is useful for removing debuffs (including snares, roots, and stuns) a significant majority of the time. In PvE I find it has the greatest use against some DoTs. That said, if you can't be bothered to hover over the debuff to see its classification, there is unlikely to be any way anyone can tell you when to cleanse things. You can't see the name of the debuff without hovering over it, so even giving you names would be useless.
  4. It is almost exactly like paladin healing in TBC. Except you get NS and the Rapid Shot is the FoL replacement which heals even less than FoL (not that FoL healed enough to be useful in Sunwell anyway). Heat as a resource just means that you can't bomb heals ever and have to pace yourself. That said, while Kolto Shell is useful and a nice chunk of healing, it isn't enough to change the way you heal. You are still a tank healer that is extremely limited when it comes to group damage. It also shares much of the holy paladin's reliance on crit, though for different reasons (throughput as opposed to longevity).
  5. I don't know about you, but at 50 the only upgrades to gear I get are mods. I suppose if you are raiding you get full gear upgrades, but Blizz's gear would have to be massively better than Gault's for a tank pet to do more damage than a dps one. And keep in mind you can get good weapons for all of them off of the Belsavis dailies.
  6. Actually, most of our gear is crit/surge. Take a look at the badge gear from corellia, other than the subpar chestpiece which is power/alacrity, the rest is crit/surge. A wonderful spread of the weights for stats was done here (not mine, but no reason to redo work that was already well done): http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=70055 The relevant issue is that power is ~6 points to a single bonus healing, whereas crit is 23.75 points to a full percentage point. Even if you have 0 surge on your gear, a percentage of crit is a 0.65% increase in your healing throughput. Since power and crit come in roughly equal amounts on gear, you are trading 1 point of bonus healing for (0.65/4) or .16% healing. Given that, at 50, my rapid scan hits for roughly 2.3k and a less than 2 second casting time (before critical reaction) I'm getting roughly 2 hitpoints per second from the crit compared to 1 hp/sec from the same amount of power. And surge scales even better at 5.8 points per percentage. Which in turn makes both it and crit even stronger. Power is far better for dps since it scales far better for dps. Again, it's not a bad stat, it's just worse for throughput than crit/surge. Don't avoid it, but pick crit/surge over that. Edit: On a side note, I feel like there is some danger in overvaluing surge compared to crit (as the more you have of one, the better more of the other is) but we'll see. I kind of feel like surge might scale too well which really just makes healing this slot machine of crappy non-crits and then explosive crits for double or more of the non-crit value.
  7. If you have a question, just hover over the debuff. It cures anything with (Physical) or (Tech) after the name and, when talented, anything with (Mind). The list of things it can and can't remove is incredibly expansive, but in PvE the biggest category of things it cannot remove are untyped debuffs. Even if they likely come from a physical (or tech) source, unless they are labeled as such, you can't cleanse them.
  8. The stat priorities seem awful. Power scales abysmally for heals and the value of alacrity is depressed given our short casting times and 9% from talents. While power would be the best, all things being equal, since power actually translates into such a small increase in bonus healing as far as I can tell, mathematically, crit (and then surge) are the greatest boosts to healing throughput. That's not to say that power is bad or should be avoided, but the coefficient for healing is so terrible, that it just doesn't measure up to crit (and eventually surge at a sufficient level of crit).
  9. These guides are always absurd. You are correct, Improved Vents is completely worthless as it provides, at most, 8 heat/minute and only if you spam Vent Heat on CD. Regarding Critical Reaction however, you couldn't be more wrong. It will be up constantly due to crit being the best secondary stat and 5% haste for 2 talent points is better than anything else available for increasing throughput. It lets you cast 5% more heals within a given timeframe and that equates to 5% more healing if you are constantly casting or 5% faster delivery on emergency heals if you aren't. Excellent deals for 2 points that low in the tree (even the 4% in system calibrations is worth 2 points). Also, Kolto Missile has a 6 sec CD and is critical for its boost to heals and 10% DR while supercharged. One of the biggest boosts to making up for a lack of other AE heals is the fact that the missile buffs the splash targets as well which makes the otherwise difficult task of keeping up large numbers of targets easier.
