Very interesting, thanks!

I have 2-3 pieces of Champ gear, a few Centurion, and some orange pieces that I modded out with the highest level mods from the Ilum dailies. I just got my Champion helmet, but really hesitated before equipping it because although I got about 35 additional expertise points and added armor, I LOST about 20 of my main stat (STR) and END. Looking ahead to Battlemaster gear is a similar situation, though thankfully the STR/END drops are less substantial.
Can anyone tell me what the right balance to strike between my main stats and expertise is? Should I go for expertise at any cost, but keep my orange stuff for when I want to be a ****** in PVE?

I agree! It's not my favorite, but I do honestly enjoy Huttball very much. It'd be great to see different arenas!

I was in a WZ the other day with my Sentinel and the Sith team was one marauder, one bounty hunter, and SIX sorcerors. The sorcs just spammed AoE lightning the whole time and my pretty balanced classwise Republic team just died.
One Sorc I eat for breakfast. Six? Taking them down would require either MASSIVE coordination ("You take so & so, I'll take...") OR our team having six sages throwing rocks until both sides were dead. I suppose it could be argued that they were using teamwork, but I doubt there was very much strategy being discussed.
I think that perhaps situations like this should be considered in OP/UP discussions: What would it be like if a whole team were one class?

Yeah, I think you guys are right. Ultimately the stuff you lose is not worth it. I actually did end up getting more medals than I usually in some of the WZs I played, and I was right about the mobility being awesome (speaking of utility!); It was way better than either Watchman or Focus alone. BUT the biggest hit I could do was from the Singularity charged Sweeps, which were only possible every 50secs (as mentioned). The auto-crit Sweeps without singularity charge still hit for decent damage, but not enough to merit losing Merciless Slash.
It's kind of a shame... I always like it when you can get creative with trees rather than have everybody as one of a few cookie cutter variants. I played SWG years ago, and there were always cool hybrids like a Fencer who could combine trees from Pistoleer and Teras Kasi for ridiculous amounts of dodge. I also played Dungeons & Dragons Online for a while, and while going pure was pretty standard, there were still some very creative and effective hybrids out there. It's always a trade-off, usually DPS for more utility.

I'm going to at least try it! Again, I'm hoping that the big sweeps will compensate for no Merciles Slash, but you're right that stasis gets interrupted often... Anyway, I'll experiment and let you know!

I'm sure I'll be branded a fool for even suggesting such a thing, but here's the deal: I keep reading about how great Focus is. Twice now I've respec'd from Watchman and just feel like an idiot... Focus seems much more cumbersome than Watchman, which always felt very fluid. Yes, the huge hits on Force Sweep are awesome, but there are a few key abilities that I REALLY miss from Watchman: The reduced range Force Leap (even one point in this, taking it down to 5m, makes a huge difference), and the reduced cooldown Force Kick, that can shut a Bounty Hunter or Inquisitor down cold. Without those, I just feel clumsy.
So that got me thinking: How important IS Merciless Slash, really? Sure it's a huge part of my burst DPS as a Watchman, but what if I could replace it with those huge bursty Force Sweeps? On the other hand, how important IS Force Exhaustion to Focus, really? Yes, it builds up Singularity to set up those big sweeps, but so does Stasis, and what if I could offset the difference with some nice burn DoTs from the Watchman tree?
So, I present to you this 20/0/21 solution:
http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#501bIbRrMzZZGbzrdrM.1
I was thinking it would be played in Juyo because Juyo Mastery is a requirement for moving up the Watchman Tree. That does mean there is a wasted skill point over in the Focus Tree (Zephyr), since it affects Shii-Cho.
Highlights, as I see it:
1) Force Kick at 6 secs
2) Huge mobility: Force Leap reduced to 5m minimum and shorter CD from Watchman, plus Zealous Leap from Focus
3) Retains Overload Sabers from Watchman with associated burn effects
4) Retains Singularity/Felling Blow mechanics from Focus for big Sweeps
5) Token self-healing from Zen burns (Watchman), plus 10% health back when popping Rebuke (Focus). Though maybe this should be swapped for Inflammation? I do love slowing people in PvP...
6) Retains 100% uptime for Transcendence from Inner Focus (Focus), but also with the focus generating capability of Valor (Watchman) for when you pop Zen.
I know hybrids are usually a no-no, but at least on paper it seems like it might be OK. What do you think?

but doesnt everybody else get like 3 stuns, 1 knockback, 1 interrupt and 1 dash/stealth/jump?!
Not at all. My main is a Sentinel (I'm starting to level a Combat Medic, which is why I'm here). I have AWESOME interrupts (Awe, Force Stasis, and Force Kick, which I spec'd into for a 6 second CD), but I have no true stun (Force Stasis pretty much roots me as well as my target), and no knockback whatsoever. Believe me, there's plenty of complaining about that in the JK forums...

I reached 50 on my Watchman Sentinel last weekend. Right now I have three relics: A Light V with surge boost from the light side vendor, a champion relic with power boost (and some Expertise), and the green matrix shard cube. Right now I'm using the champ for the power boost (which seems more universally applicable than the surge) and expertise, and the matrix one because it has the biggest stat boost.
Does this sound right, or am I gimping myself by not having a surge boost for when I pop zen? If and when I get another champ relic, does the expertise boost trump the increase in Strength and Endurance I get with the matrix cube?

Definitely had several boss fights like this, but hardly every one! Of course, I was often 2-3 levels ahead of my quests while leveling, which probably helped. What spec are you? What level? What companion are you using, and how are they geared?

Been reading through this thread with interest for a few days and decided to respec to Focus from Watchman (which I had been from the start). Didn't try PVP, but I did NOT find it an easy adjustment for PVE! Had my *** handed to me four times by Colonel Hareth on Belsavis before heading back to the fleet to get my burns back! I don't know why it didn't click for me, but I think I'll stick with Watchman!

I feel like before, I could get into the rhythm of a fight... Now I feel like I'm stumbling around in the dark. There have been several times when I just smack my keyboard hoping I'll trigger something that isn't on cooldown. That never happened before the patch!

Wookiee.
Can you imagine the dialog, though? You'd select a response, and your character would issue a series of growls and grunts. It'd be like the Star Wars Holiday Special, only it would go on for dozens of hours of gametime!!! AUGH!

At first I thought it was a bug! TERRIBLE change!

Do you seriosly think those actors are rich? I know some are B-list TV stars, but most of them are probably working as waiters and dishwashers...

Pazaak, Dejarik, and SABACC!

Anakin honestly couldn't make up his mind on his class. He was a Sentinel to begin with, except he thought he was too cool to use a second lightsaber and since he was only fighting trash mobs up until the chapter 2 boss, he was able to get through unscathed. Then when he got to his chapter 2 Boss, aka Dooku, he rushed in and was whooped by force lightning. Obi-Wan fought Dooku while Anakin was respawning, but he didn't have enough offense in his tank spec to deal with Dooku. Luckily for him, Anakin got back just in time before Dooku could get in the killing blow on Obi-Wan. While Obi-Wan was incapacitated, Anakin finally started using his second lightsaber, but it was quickly disabled. Only now able to use half of his abilities, he lost. After that, he decided to re-roll as a Guardian, but since he saw Obi-Wan had trouble, he specced vigilance instead. Eventually getting bored with the Republic side, he rerolled as a Sith, going with Juggernaut and speccing Vengeance.
Yes, I'm obviously joking.
TL;DR I have too much time on my hands
Well, no one else deigned to comment, but *I* thought your post was very clever!

I haveto agree... My favorite move in the game is Dirty Kick to the groin then walking behind to deliver Back Blast. I also love when Blaster Whip turns into a finishing move!

Congrats!

Why, why, why would you want that idiot to write the script?

I started an alt on Biochem, and ran into a problem I didn't have with Artifice.
With Biochem, when you RE on a stack of stims or medkits, it doesn't take just one, of course, it gobbles them all. What I'm wondering about are the implications of this for finding new recipes. Is RE'ing a whole stack of stims the statistical equivalent of doing one at a time, or should I go to the trouble of breaking it apart first?

Haven't seen the lightsaber one yet... Have to watch for that!

What he said. Sentinels/Marauders have no knockback or pull abilities.
