  1. Ok, this is annoying me now. I made a post describing the handling of maintenance messages (ie, how you relate information to your community) and you close it and redirect me to a post with a mass of people arguing and whining about the current maintenance? Here's my post: You've got a post on the Community homepage stating there is planned maintenance. You have another post in the General forums stating unplanned maintenance for an unknown time. I can assume that you finished the planned patch early, and took down the servers for further maintenance. But the situation here is that I don't like having to guess at what the deal is. Especially when such guesswork leads me to sift through all the complaints on this forum looking for clarification from the playerbase on just what the hell is happening here. Please clarify this situation by removing the defunct post. Or, at the least, clarify the post in the General forums. This is the time my server starts to get busy and since your launcher tells us nothing, and we log in to see servers down, then come here and are first exposed to a big flashy post about planned maintenance, then wonder why servers aren't up, then go sifting and find a very abstract post with crossed times over the previously stated planned maintenance... Please, just clean it up. I could have done this for you in about 15 minutes when you first took the servers down for the second time this morning. And your response: Averran's Avatar Averran Joined: Dec 2011 Today , 04:23 PM Report Post Hello everyone, We know that a number of you wish to discuss the current maintenance period and in order to keep the discussion together we ask that everyone use this thread. This will help to ensure our forums are tidy and everyone can participate in the ongoing conversation. We will be closing this thread, feel free to carry on there! Please get this right. I don't want to discuss the current maintenance period for its own sake. I want to discuss your way of getting information about maintenance periods to us, and the fact that you've created a situation (not for the first time) that is going to unnecessarily confuse some people who just want to know which maintenance period is happening, and not be subjected to cross-information leading to minor frustration. Please stop cursorily reading our posts. I understand you're trying to employ some kind of damage control and stop the mass of complaints about this unexpected maintenance. What I'm offering is not a criticism of that maintenance. In the same way that you would not lump all posts related to Star Wars into one thread, please read the nuance here and what the purpose of the thread is! Again: It has nothing to do with this particular maintenance period, in and of itself, which is what the post you redirected me to is about. EDIT: Thank you for removing the Community post. This is exactly what I was aiming at!

  3. And as to WoW-cloning, any person who would ever say that has obviously not played this game. It's there, it's inevitable, it's not a bad thing--get used to it. Replacing something which is not player-friendly, which is in essence an impractical implementation of a good idea, would not be unheard of or unreasonable.
  4. Yea, there's enough going on in pvp without having to pay attention to hard-to-spot procs. I might also add that not all classes use procs. This means that those which are dependent on them for strong dps as part of a spec, are a bit gimped.
  5. I'd like to ask everyone on this forum to bump/vote on this thread. I didn't see one particularly dedicated to the issue, and it's a sore point for me. Thank you. To the point: The animation when I proc an effect (for example, when my Disturbance casts as a Tele Sage proc an instant-cast Telekinetic Wave), is horrible in any kind of critical situation. Basically, my head catches fire. This is not nearly visible enough to be reliable, especially when I have to watch enemy movements as well as my own hotbars. If I have a shield on myself and am casting, the fiery head is completely unreliable. Add enemy spell effects to the equation and it's a fail. The little buff that appears on my buff bar above health is also a negligible help, as it is drowned in the midst of other buffs and is, again, in a place I am not paying attention to in fierce combat. I would ask that you implement something similar to WoW's proc animation, which I believe was put into play with Cataclysm. It's in the middle of the screen (although being able to move it to wherever you want would be nice), it's bright, and it's highly visible. Thank you.
  6. Yea, figured it out, haha. Nope, that didn't work. It just produces a square--I assume the character is absolutely not supported in-game. This makes me cry. Seems like such a simple thing to allow, and all of the other linguistic formats are there. I guess I'll go with circumplex ô, it presents the same thing. Too bad though, the macron is authentic and I would love for my Legacy name to be that as well. Maybe if they implement this at a later date a kind GM will allow me to make the name change. Cheers all
  7. How did you copy/paste into the legacy box? When I right click I get nothing, I assume it's some kind of ctrl+p thing?
  8. Yea, I think that's the only way to get it to work. It produces an "M"; basically what Brick said, it stops at 0255 and just resets at higher numbers to run through 0-0255 again.
  9. Good idea, Brickabrack. And thanks for the clarification, Foobard. Good to know, it seems less and less likely this will happen...
  10. Thanks for the help, fellas. I do appreciate it! I'll keep searching around for alittle while longer...
  11. I guess another question is whether the game is proprietary to our keyboards. If I change my keyboard language to Japanese Romanji or Maori, would it produce the new characters in game?
  12. The thing is, the word I'm trying to create is Japanese and represents something specific to Japanese culture. I would lose authenticity by anglicizing the characters further in plain English. I'm being a perfectionist but this is permanent and across all toons. I think it's warranted here, if nowhere else!
  13. I don't think HTML will work in game though. I tried it in /say and it just produced ō itself. Doh! And I can't really experiment because if I hit create and end up with a jibberish legacy I will be forever in despair... Edit: it produced the HTML code "ō ;" and not ō, haha
