  1. Story wise, huge step up from other MMO. I find lvling adds with friends very enjoyable.
  2. Lol, dual spec is such a hot topic. Now everyone agree you can already respec for a fee and some reshuffling of buttons. The issue here is simply convenience, dual spec adds convenience to the re-spec mechanic. Some ppl seems to like their game more convenient and some more cumbersome. Re-spec makes choice irrelevant. Dual spec make re-speccing not such a pain in the but. A lot of comment I see against dual spec are, at their root, against re-speccing altogether. PS: if you want choice ot be relevant, go play eve and stop bothering me!
  3. Now, about replayability, for an other game i'd say YES! For this game, it's a meh at best, i'm having a blast dual leveling alts in chain with a friend of mine... Just for the story-lines. I believe this game got a lot going for it alt wise, especially with legacies coming around the corner.
  4. I just fail to see one thing, how does multispec makes the game easier. If there is DS, they can, and hopefully will, tweak encounter that require 2 heals with enrage timer that prevent from using 3 and stuff like that. DS, at the very best, make it not so much of an daytime job to be able to mange raids, you bring your 8 best player, and that's it. You bring you 7 friends, and that's it. You can even make 2 raid group with 16 player online, instead of one with 1 sit-outs and 7 rejects. Also, on a game design note, DS gives more freedom to the dev on what kind of encounter they can, and want, to design. Now, we need to make a difference between hard games, and inconvenient and restrictive games. Giving the ability to respec, but not giving dual spec increase inconvenience without increasing difficulty. I think this last statement sums it up for the want to be hardcore purists... Gosh, you'd think this is a "is this game a roguelike" debate with all those wannabe hardcore around.
  5. Dual spec, triple spec, quadruple spec, they all have the same purposes, allow for groups to reconfigure according to encounter. Rift needed more cause of the soul system. Everyone have about 30+ spec options in rift(not all viable!). Here it's much more confined. The bottom line is, it's all "quick" spec switching...
  6. It's nice and all, but it do not fix the , we have someone sitting out at all time just to adjust our group comp to each encounter. You still need to travel to the fleet. Witch mean, if it's for one one encounter, it's still gonna be faster to bring a dps that is standing outside the door for high end play. Works for less efficient groups. It's like climbing a stair half way up, you not up, not down and can't go anywhere different. If they implement dual spec and tweak content in accordance, it's gonna be fine. The idea of dual spec is having more varied instances with a slightly different meta. You could even think up a tankless boss with DS! or a healerless one! But it's risk. On a final note, you guys see what guild wars is going for? They are taking the rift path, even deeper. You switch your skill pack, your good to go heal, tank or dps, depending on what is needed. Now it's up to the players to decide how they want top solve those bosses. The dev make encounter, and we try to break them, the less limitations we have on the how, the more fun it is! You don'T end every chess game with you queen killing their king? Why would every encounter be tackled with 2 heals, 2 tank 4 dps? This mmo needs to decide if it's the last of subscription, or if it wanna take subscription based mmos to the next gen...
  7. Low FPS indicate you probably don't meet system requirement or are overdue for a fresh ghost installation and computer clean up... It has nothing to do with delay, or unresponsiveness issue that has been documented. Sry?
  8. I'm well aware of that... When they get more comfortable at making encounters, they will bring dual spec in and tune up encounters accordingly.... Hopefully.
  9. Thats a very good point, and hardcore guilds will go as far as simply swapping members depending on encounter... Need 2 tank, you can'T respec, sorry, we will bring the guy that has been at the door, deeply enjoying his time staring a a purple transparent door... But don'T worry, we will need you in 3 bosses, have fun staring at the purple entrance! Or even guilds that are struggling with content, sorry dude, we hit the enrage timer at 5% every time, we gonna bring in a dps to help fix it.... Have fun starring...
  10. Some ppl see it as an issue, others may see it as possibilities for more varied encounters... Remember that boss you had to heal to full to win in WoW?
  11. I installed nudemode. Activating it requires a bit of fidling though.... Amazing... On a more serious note. I'm still waiting for a sandbox MMO that is able to tell me a conveying story.... Whatever the spelling on that conveying word is...
  12. If you play republic it's a single player experience with a lot of ganking. If you play empire, it totaly is a mmo... 9 rep vs 55 imps in voss atm on my server!
  13. This is one of the reason no drastic action should be taken, population is fickle at this point IMO. Ppl are still re-rolling and stuff. But there do be an issue with imps getting huthball all over again... So it's open for discussion P.S.: The only reason imps are better at huthball is cause it's all they do!!!
  14. Pll have been comparing numbers of player in fleet on either side on their servers too. Aesthetics is still very important with a community that is ready to pay to look cooler...
  15. Ok, let me bring you up to speed... Problem : More empire then republic players. Actual state of things: With time, pvpers will switch to republic for better queue time. BW actions : More factionless pvp. Result : No pvper will switch side... Imbalanced population kills world pvp. Enforce player limit and outnumbered buff on world pvp zones might help the problem... Biggest point though is that BW's o****ion to aleviate imps queue is most likely bad for world pvp. Edit : Also, stronger Republic community would help empire queues, witch is why BW is implementing factionless pvp to some extend.
  16. Na, a trailer would not fix the idea ppl have made up of the republic. Image is made out of a lot of little things that adds up over time. And ATM, imps gets a way better image then the republic. It's not a problem bioware can fix overnight imo. They must give reason, all kinds of reason to play Republic. Right now, the only reason you have for playing republic is longer power animations and , oh, sorry, that'S not a good one for pvp is it? SO i was saying, only reason is being part of an inefficiency bureaucracy... oh darn... and damned sili hats and generic hoods (consular and jedi knights). Anyway, they need to start right away fixing republic appeal. And neither server restrictions nor faction-less pvp will do. Time will do better then those two still, but time can be helped
  17. Heck, ppl change their voting intention to win there elections, you don'T think they can be swayed in a game? You think this became one of the most hyped game cause no one was paying attention to trailers?(all featuring sith kicking asses) You think the kind of crowd that pay for cosmetic changes do not want to play the most bad *** race/whatever? You think the WoW population rebalanced after BC because the Draeni were as cool as the blood elves? Realy... there is an issue, and bioware's soplution to it will aggravate it. Now, that being said, of course time will fix part of it, if player have a reason to switch side... Adding more single faction bg will kill that reason.
  18. You did? yet your post was about whats the op said regardless of the discussion of the last pages... The op do suggest a horrible solution. Cause the problem is an appeal problem... Republic is lame... But don't go putting your head in the sand, appeal don't create out of thin air, appeal is created out of blood elves. Give blood elves to the republic! I hope you see my point... And BW's talk about more single faction pvp will only aggravate the problem for world pvp.
  19. So you obviously did't read anything but the tittle line of op... Of course creation restriction is bad, but no it won'T balance out. It's no miracle wow balanced out just after Blood elves were introduced to make horde more appealing. Aesthetic and kickassness must be restored to the republic... bleh, just read the whole darn thing!
  20. Two things, true, playing evil character is fun! Else overlord games would not have existed, and this old dungeon game where you sacrifice chickens either... But on a pure min max scope, animations on republic characters are often slower slower. So yeah, there is a plus side. And really, would you rather throw rocks or lightning? Aesthetic plays a big role too.

Plus, we all know they are gonna loose, at least make us believe they stand a chance! And finaly, make animations related to dark light side points??? A lvl V dark jedi not shooting lightning? come on.... And pvp wise, i've heard a lot of imp animations feel more responsive... Edit : Just an out of game example, ppl are known to change voting intentions just to win, imagine with a game!

  23. Let's take an example, WoW... It evened out in wow... but not before the blood elves... It evens out because the dev do something about it, not cause the force seeks bslance......
  24. The biggest point this thread makes is that more single faction pvp will aggravate the population imbalance. There are a few solution path, but it's what threads are for!!! To find em....
