Thanks. I only go full Darkness in a few situations, so I think I'll go for the DPS gear and focus and use my PvE shield (Bolster for the win) when I really need a shield. Or I'll get off my lazy *** and grind two whole sets...

I'm about to hit 55 and have to start thinking about Part/Conq gear. I switch fairly regularly between Darkness and Deception as well as some hybrids. I pug a lot and like survivable specs. I am also too lazy to get both Focus and Shield (this will be my fourth 55...I've done enough grinding). How big is the penalty in PvP for using the "wrong" offhand? I'm not asking what is "best" exactly and realize ymmv...

Thanks. Missed it under the title "Hybrids". Great discussion. My sin is not yet 55, and I've been doing it wrong (mostly following Spike rather than LS), but so far found it to be deadly against weak players and occasionally useful against stronger ones. Will continue the experiment.

Finally levelling a sin and having a blast in PvP. There are a couple of points I've seen mentioned but would like to hear explicit opinions on: 1) Once you have Voltaic Slash, should you remove Thrash from your rotation? I see folks unbind it. 2) What is the theorycraft on Crushing Darkness after Spike in the opener versus other options. TIA -- I did searches but found nothing both up-to-date and clear.

Two notes: this was ranked, albeit casual ranked. This is the one I mentioned in another thread where our team got 0 kills...which I've never seen in 18 months playing this game. Great job by the two Bluth healers and the 3 tanks...I'd call that another record, but we did have 1 player dc right at the start.

On the Operative heals note, we played an VS where my side had 0 kills...I literally don't remember doing a full wz with 0 kills, and I've been playing since preview. The Bluth healers and their tanks did an amazing job. We were definitely under-DPS, but not that much... ps -- not qq-ing, just an observation

I was levelling my little assassin and new operative yesterday. The lowbie pvp quality was considerably better than 55 from the imp side: no half-empty game starts, no roflstomping rep pugs, and decent players mixed in with the keyboard rotating sitting ducks. Double XP weekend is warping things.

I'm not going to sweat it at least until double XP is over. My little assassin went from 40-44 and won most of her wzs running with pugs. At 55, I really think the imp side suffers from a lack of healers as much as from lack of good guilds, but I saw plenty of imp healers in the 40-50 range today. Fingers crossed.

Double XP weekend seems to be hard on imp-side 55 PvP. My fresh-to-55 sorc healer is going to have nightmares about being beat on by Herroh for the rest of his career. It was ugly! Talk about ugly, we won a Huttball where we only had 6 on our side the whole game...against another apparently even worse imp pug. Mid-level PvP seemed much more like normal 55 PvP with some good players.

I was telling a friend how swtor warzones were running longer because of heals and how hard capping had become. He reminded me he was in a vanilla WoW Alterac Valley that went on for 7 hours.

Seriously though, I did not think of using a macro to re-spec, but if I had, I would not have thought it illegal, for the simple reason that most MMOs I play let you save gear sets and specs and change them on the fly. I just think of these things as short-comings of the SWTOR UI and frankly really wish they'd fix it. I do see the point of maybe restricting them to being used in the graveyard...but as I said before I think being able to re-spec during the match increases rather than decreases balance and always thought it sucked in WoW that you couldn't. Disclaimer: I'm not trying to get into any guilds
