  1. I do a similar rotation too, you really need to use Force Exhaustion to build up those singularities then sweep to hit as many as possible and bury them in a hp deficit (via Taugrim). I toss in a Blade Storm in there instead of Slash because like other people say, it hits like a truck, it's ranged and is a force ability. Then toss in a dispatch if I have enough focus.

    My issue is that I want to do more damage per spam of any and all of my abilities, have you guys been stacking Power and Surge or going for a different type?

    Power > Surge > Accuracy > Crit?

    i understand the power behind sweep and i use to think that we should concentrate our efforts behind this single powerful skill. however, that kinda gives us tunnel vision in that we're concentrating on building up one skill rather then employ other advantagous.

    in group battles, i WILL rotate between building for sweep and slash as much as i can to AOE down the enemy.

    however, in 1v1 my emphasise is placed behind ramping up DPS rather then steady bursty damage that catches the opponent off guard.

    again -- if u read the article, i am not here to say that your spam or burst methods are wrong... i am rather suggesting a method typically catches the opponent off guard and giving the player more control in the fight when the opponent begins to panic.

  2. I don't understand your rotation. It seems you are missing singularity opportunities weakening your damage.

    My rotation

    force leap(3)>exhaustion(0) >zealous strike(6) > sweep(5) > stasis(8) >zealous leap(5) > slash(3)> slash(1)> sweep (0)

    10 gcds (stasis counts as 2) same as yours with master strike

    using your numbers and 900 for a zealous leap

    700 >3000 >800 >300-4000 >2200 >900 (zeal leap) >1400 > 1400>3000-4000 =16,400-18400 in the same time span w/o dispatch.

    Is there something i am missing in your rotation that you would not go for 2 singularity sweeps?

    Dear Whitehorn,

    your rotation is perfectly fine in maximizing and bursting damage.

    the theory in my method is to hold off on the “pounding damage that kills him” towards the end so that:

    1. he is surprised/does not notice the RAPID increase in damage

    2. his response (heals/escape) is too late to save him.

    Sun Tzu said:

    Open confrontation will trigger

    over-powering resistance. Thus the key

    to victory is the ability to use surprise tactics.

    The position of victory is one of determination.

    The position of defeat is un-preparedness.

    IMO

    1. too much damage in the open

    --- typically he’s in escape mode or wants to find friends to counter; losing u a 1v1 opportunity.

    2. steady damage throughout

    -- control of the fight remains in his hands and does not put him into panic mode.

    which is why I like to:

    1. give him a typical/average open that won’t alarm him, but will set him up:

    leap -> master strike /sweep -> zealous

    2. then rapidly increase damage output

    cauterize -> exhaust -> stasis

    3. typically, by now, he is on the verge of dying or ¼ away from death’s door. In which case:

    ---> if he stands n fight: u have singularity from exhaust & stasis to sweep then dispatch

    ---> if he runs: zealous/bladestorm (10m) then dispatch (15m).

    4. whatever you choose to end with, your opponent now must consider evasion or escape in a losing match in which you have enough FORCE stored to pursue.

    here is also a comparison of our methods:

    FOCUS points COMPARISON

    your bursty method:

    leap (+3) -> exhaust (-3) -> zealous strike (+6) -> sweep (-1) -> stasis (+4) ->zealous leap (-3) -> slash (-3) -> slash (-3) -> sweep (-1)

    = -2 focus

    my RAPID DMG increase method:

    leap (+3) -> master (0) -> zealous strike (+6) -> cauterize (-3) -> exhaust (-3) -> stasis (+4) -> FINISH CHOICE dispatch (-3) -> sweep (-1)

    = +3 focus can now also add zealous leap/bladestorm

    STASIS BREAK comparison

    your exhaust and melee strikes are just x2 amount of side by side damage.

    Versus

    my cauterize, exhaust, and melee strikes are x3 amount of side by side damage.

  3. I've been getting frustrated with my Sent lvl 27...felling like Im getting weaker...weird, I know. You've posted some great tips, gonna start trying out those combos tonight. Thanks agian!

    i don't think u'll fully enjoy ur SENT till around 43 as you will not have access to everything. but, this is also good in that you learn each ability at its own pace.

    then when u learn everything, u can start to understand where you want to place those abilities in your own rotation.

  4. hello, my name is Visaerys from DARAGON TRAIL server. i am a 50.SENT of 65 Valor and have ONLY played SWOTR through Warezones (WZ).^^

    i rarely find it hard to win a 1v1 and find it fun when i get 2v1'ed.^^

    in addition, the more you play SENT, you will find that the class will enable you to even do 4v1 to delay/hinder the enemy teams from capping NODEs or DOORs.

    #1 THEORY

    what most opponents don't realize is how surprisingly fast they start to die when you **cauterize & exhaust** them. so you want to apply this devastating technique towards the end of the fight.

    the flow of the fight you want to guide them in is:

    1. hurting them like normal.

    2. dot them up **cauterize & exhaust**

    3. put them in stasis **not needed but helps**

    4. being in stasis, they begins to see how FAST his HP is going down

    5. their response is normally too late when u close

    #2 HOW I DO IT/ROTATION

    leap -> master strike/sweep -> zealous -> cauterize -> exhaustion -> stasis -> dispatch -> sweep

    then ZEN -> Spam Slash until Cauter & Exchaust CD is good

    ///-> alternatively, you can just start from zealous strike -> cauter -> etc.

    ***DMG number (minimum DMG used)

    700 -> 3000/1200 -> 800 -> 1200 -> 3000 -> 2200 -> 3000-4000 = 13,900 or 12,100

    ***SLASH spammed

    1400 +hits 1 extra target

    ***NOTE: that if you CRIT at any moment in this rotation -- AND you will -- the opponent is normally done by the time Stasis is done. and if Stasis is broken, they are done when you DISPATCH or SLASH spam.

    ***NOTE: the 2 important things here is to lay CAUTERIZE & EXHAUSTION back to back. it's as if you had 2 other people doing melee with you in your fight.

    #3 U R IN CONTROL -- KEEP COOL

    even if u don't get the first move or have been cc'ed and knocked down for 3/4ths of ur HP... EVEN if they break your Stasis hold... the SENT.FOCUS tree allows you to CONTROL the flow of the fight in the direction u want. --- HOW.??

    A. rebuke & saber ward

    B. force camo

    C. guarded by the force + heal stim

    D. force leap -- away from being focused

    A, B, and C will allow you to continue your rotation at will --- and D is a good method of getting away.

    when D is used -- i target someone far away. prefer someone already engaged.

    when B is used -- i stealth FIRST towards the opposite of where i go to throw them off.

    ***NOTE: do not even allow a 2v1 do deter urself from your rotation. YOU are in control of the flow.!

    #4 but i'm not GEARED OUT.!!

    before i had all my nice toys, i was able to do what i wanted Vs. better geared IMPs. Gear helps, but it is through REPITITION do you gain an understanding of how to guide the fight into the direction you want.

    #A. remember that you know what you need to do to kill.

    #B. that you are comforted by A B C D if things go awry.

    #6 OTHER TIPs

    1. when directing people, be nice to them even if they are dumb. it doesn't help anyone if you call them out.

    2. always leave 2 people to a door/node. 1 person can be defeated by 2 smart players anyday thru CC/MEZ

    3. in huttball -- DO NOT protect the ball carrier. it is more effective to run ahead of him so he can throw to you.

    4. in Civil War -- DON'T RELY on people calling for INCs ->> when a enemies have stopped attacking 1 NODE, quickly run to the other NODE. most of the time, the have already re-directed their fight there.

    5. in VOID -- i like to focus everyone on 1 door. it's easy to understand that when you FOCUS targets, that things die faster, but i'm surprised most people don't apply that to one area of the game. --- you are doing 8 of u VS 7 of them most of the time.

    CLOSING

    i originaly stayed away from threads on "how" to play a SENT, because i didn't want people to understand how OP (*nerf* paranoid) this class is and that i also didn't want people to be as good as i am.^^;

    playing SENT is not easy to play b/c of the many abilities that come with the class. but it is rewarding in that it is not a 2-button/1 skill spam... it is heavy on action and response to the current situation.^^

    i hope my guide helps SENT players to enjoy their class more.^^.!

    Please ask me anything, but note that i have two weeks left to my sub as there is really nothing left for me to play for ATM.^^;

  5. SWOTR, i had a great time PVP'ing in this game.! i'm unsubb'ing b/c there's not anything else for me to play for -- PVP'wise.^^;

    CONs to SWOTR

    #1. the endgame PVP BM gear does not "help" my SENT to be better. i also hear this is a common issue amongst other classes --- gunslingers, sages, etc.

    #2. limited PVP recognition/online ranking. nothing better then to be driven to be the best or to emulate those better then you.

    #3. MINOR GRIPE -- lack of character customization. for my SENT and for many of my friends, we are unhappy with the way our FINAL character looks. JEDI look is not appealing when stacked against EMPIRE.

    #4. the minor bugs that are like annoying insects even tho i try to ignore them.

    A. RED SPACE bug in VOIDSTAR

    B. daily WZ win -- uncredited

    C. ability stutter

    D. hotbar skills not shaded when still on CD - STILL

    PROs to SWOTR

    #1. PVP works. there is some tweeks and balancing, but i really enjoy PVP'ing.

    #2. i do enjoy your maps.

    #3. skill tree is in-depth. i've spent a lot of time tweeking my tree and argueing over tree specs on forums. that, to me, says KUDOS, SWOTR.^^

  6. its annoying that some classes push u back n cc u in place.... is this one ability or two.??

    equally annoying is my force leap 3 sec stun NEVER gives me enough time to do my 3 sec master strike.... i rely strictly on other classes to cc before using this high dps strike.^^

    a force push would be nice for SENT.^^;

    .... and i have specc'd +1 sec to force leap stun, but still no dice. the ability-stutter bug doesn't help me land master strike either.

  7. I've searched this answer and I've seen some conflicting answers. Now I understand it's not going to be as fast as questing most likely, but how much slower will it be? Anyone who has done this care to let me know their /played?

    My last character I leveled just by questing and skipping all group content and all dialog and I managed to hit 50 in a few hours over 3 days played. I'm sure there are things I could have done to make it faster, but I'm just wondering how fast pvp leveling is compared to that. Thanks for anyone that has anything to tell me.

    if u love pvp like i do - doing the same 3 maps for 3 weeks (20-50) will go by fast.

    PRO to this is u'll come to truely be amongst ur peers in knowing how to PVP... prolly QQ alot less abt balance issues...

    CON is that u will end up not knowing much about PVE raids like me. XD. --- i know NOTHING of drops and boss killing.!

    respectfully... it took an extra 3-4 daysto get rank.60

  8. Because everyone is so focused on the flashy tank with the lightsaber that they ignore the ranged attacks and heals.

    It's very easy to top damage meters when no one is attacking you

    players who knows what these guys do unchecked ----- LOVE getting in their faces. i know i do -- and i dont mind chasing one person all over the map for a 3 minute kill.^^

  9. I have a shadow and a sentinel that I play. I can tell you jsut because they can put up numbers doesnt mean I cant totally destory them as a pure dps class. On my shadow no inqus stands a chance if i jump on them. On my sentinel they last a little longer but they will die and I will come out easily with 90% health after the confrontation.

    Mercs are a different story. those single button spam ******* you run into make me so angry in warzones. however I can still defeat them 1v1 on my sentinel just not on my shadow.

    I mainly play my sentinel since I like that class alot more. As pure dps I usually am top in dmg with relative ease. My only goal in every wz isnt to protect or heal but to jump on and just start destroying those healers then turn to the tanks because I have a few attacks that Ignore all armor and its pretty much true dmg.

    The only reason why these tank classes and healer classes seem to put up more damage than alot of pure dps classes is because they can spam their 3 second channel ability over and over in pvp with no real cooldown on it. Since every classes channel ability is pretty much their highest dmg ability. If those classes are left unchecked or challenged in pvp then they get a little out of hand. Pure dps classes can get on top of those and make it to where they will never be able to spam that ability. The only classes that can totally shut them down from doing that are pure dps classes. such as sentinel and gunslinger. Also a good little tip is since its a tech attack and a force attack is you have resilience pop it and they will be waisting their time doing no dmg to you. Only pure dps classes have thier channel ability that isnt tech or force ability its just straight dmg and cannot be ignored by resilience.

    If you want to stop those ranged tanks/Healers that are just spamming those buttons to do dps. you MUST have pure dps on your team to stop them from ever getting a chance to do that.

    nice post... all true.^^;

  10. I wont argue with that at all. You're in light armor. If I opened on you with red buff / relic and Opener, shiv, backstab, lacerate all crit. You're very likely going to be taking 10-12k damage. Granted im at 670 expertise.

    Verses a commando or warrior type with 600 expertise, however, I would be hard pressed to push 10k if all 4 of my attacks crit. Unfortunately thats not what usually happens. Its a very sad moment when you have a red buff and open with a non crit of 1600 damage followed by 1200, 1600, 1200.

    Don't get me wrong, I am for the nerf. But people legitimately need to stop taking videos like this seriously. Everyone remembers the time when the operative/scoundrel pops out on them and crits everything and obliterates them, but they never remember all the many times when that doesn't happen.

    dude... u guys do this ALL the time and i'm geared very well.

    and then u run away with a cc when i turn the tables around.... a lesser geared player hss no chance and i feel sorry for them.^^; i have couple new 50 friends who'll just won't even get a chance to respond like i can to ur 3 second kill.

  11. For a game that is so focused on mass PvP (ergo, not Arenas) it's surprising that SWTOR fails when it comes to mechanics that hurt mass PvP.

    Namingly burst damage and the abundance of Stuns, Roots, Mezzes and what-not.

    It is amazing how fast some classes are able to deal damage. Even in a 1v1 scenario with both participants in good gear, you can lose 60% of your health in a matter of seconds. When you add this kind of burst damage into a group PvP scenario, it can feel like an instant gib-fest.

    But a far bigger problem imo is the abundance of CC that is littered throughout this game. Even fighting one opponent can seem like you're spending 50% of the time impaired by something.

    Once you get to a 2v2 scenario, you're basically stunned non-stop from 100% down to 0% with very little you can do about it. The Resolve system obviously sucks and doesn't help in any way, shape or form unless you have a healer.

    I really don't see where the "vast amount of PvP experience" is supposed to shine through when it comes to SWTOR devs. I feel like they haven't played their own game, or any other modern MMO in over a decade and still look at DAoC as the pinnacle of PvP.

    there are times where i know i have to deal with losing lots of health off the bat --- such as being jumped on first... thats just a part of pvp.

    all u can do is keep calm and fight ur way out... ur post is saying u don't want to learn how to do this and that u want an easy fight.

    and ur prolly alluding to OPs... lolz. they're never a bore to fight.^^

  12. not to discount watchmen spec, but it really takes work to be good in PVP. IMHO, u have to grow into what works for you.... because people have different hotkeys and reactions.

    i lov my focus spec... my opening rotation kills an avg geared player (does not include sweep). my short CD on sweep helps me open n close if i want..... then i can pop zen and spam slash while waiting on rotational CDs.^^

    and i get all kinds of sweets to close distance.^^*

    i LOVE my SENT.!

  13. I've died on Darth Angral about 5 times now, and I've used stims and buffs. Why do i take so much damage? my armor is all up to date along with my companion. I seriously think there is a problem with this class. i know other people are experiencing it too, it just blows my mind it takes 4 try's to finish your class quest that should not be easily solo-able but defiantly solo-able. why did they get nerfed so bad? (so ready for everyone to tell me i am horrible at my class, which isn't the case at all.) at this point definitely thinking about re rolling but i don't wanna grind my way back to 30. This also isn't the first solo-able class quest that i died on 1000000 times.

    ur post actually sickens me.... the class has its bugs, but its not trash.

    i hope i run into u in huttball.... be happy to show u how i run rings around people like u.

    ur not even 50 yet.....

  14. If you're *not* talking 1v1, I would go as far as saying we're bottom of the list, with exception to DPS Guardians/Juggernauts. You'll bust your ***, mastering 35-40 keybindings, and unless you're on a dedicated premade with a pocket tank+healer, you're going to finish middle of the road damage and go pretty much unsung more often than not.

    For an unsupported Sentinel to do a ton of damage, the stars kinda have to align just right. It happens for some people and they take a screenshot and post it here as definitive proof the class is fine. The proof is in the pudding though: if every Trooper or Smuggler or Consular posted a screenshot of them topping damage, the bandwidth on the SWTOR would crash. For them, it's expected.

    Only one Warzone I've ever played, have I seen a Sentinel/Marauder top damage. A single one. I think that's compelling proof that this class is really lackluster for most in a team environment.

    "Incoming defense: So I don't top meters. I just win games. QQ moar baddie."

    Yes, and you can do that with any other class too, with the added benefit of working half as hard AND topping meters AND getting recognition. How's this a defense?

    while its true, to master this class u have to learn a sh*t ton of keys.... but i fear no class other then OPs 1v1..... and i LOVE 1v1s against republic players in hutt-ball.

    its rare that a 1v1 will anger or fustrate me.... i love my SENT.^^

  15. this seems to be a classwide issue -- where the Battlemaster Gear does not have the stats that the class needs.

    examples:

    1. Sentinel BM -- more crit less power (i love power)

    2. Gunslinger -- less cunning (cunning is their main stat)

    why did Bioware do this.??
